Longtime members of the online Zelda fandom have likely come across the “BEN Drowned” creepypasta (essentially an internet horror story) about a haunted Majora’s Mask cartridge. Drawing inspiration from the already creepy qualities of the N64 classic, the story has long captivated Zelda fans with its disturbing imagery and themes. Not all Zelda-related creepypastas, however, can match its quality. YouTube personality Yuriofwind recently took a look at a hilariously bad Zelda creepypasta on his popular video segment, “Bull**** Creepypasta Storytime”. Hit…

Hyrule has always been portrayed as a crime-prone kingdom where young heroes commit reckless vandalism on pots and princess kidnappings are practically a weekly occurrence. The online humor website, Dorkly has posted a short video showing what the land of the Triforce would be like with a modern police force to keep its oddball citizens in order. Hit the jump to watch!

Link is kind of a ladies’ man; tons of Zelda girls adore Link. And who could blame them? It’s a generally understood fact that effeminate guys are often found especially attractive, and let’s face it: Link is a little bit of a girly dude. But he’s also manly and heroic, so clearly he’s quite a catch. Because of their abundance, it’s honestly pretty hard for jokes about Link’s many admirers to make me laugh anymore. The gag isn’t just a…

Ever wanted to live in Hyrule Castle? Of course you have, who are you kidding? Well, ever wonder what its property value is? No? Well you can probably be forgiven for that. Not many would think of something like that, but Natalie Grigson of the real estate blog Movoto did. Jump over the moat and crawl through the delivery area to see what they had to say about Hyrule Castle from Ocarina of Time!

Humor in Zelda Games

April 06 2013 by Hanyou

People who play Zelda games tend to take the stories pretty seriously. It should be obvious why: the presentation is as polished as everything else, and there’s generally some fantastic motivation for the characters to do all the serious, kingdom-affecting, timeline-altering things they do. There’s death, war, greed, love, redemption, and all those other grand themes that influence the greatest literature. All that is true. But there’s also humor, and it’s not even subtle. This is pretty self-evident, but it…

[News post contributed by Phoebe M.] Over the past 25 years of experiencing the Zelda series we have witnessed many, many different Links. Each with their own look, style and slight differences in personality. There is no doubt that we will ever run out of Links to dress up as (such as in cosplay) and I’m sure there have been plenty of people have already done so. Who wouldn’t want to dress up like our favorite Hylian hero? Walking around…

A parody notion that was bound to happen at some point: we now have a supposed trailer for a live action Smash Bros. Fight Club. Of course, it’s just a joke, but it’s definitely an amusing one at that, especially for those who have seen Fight Club as it is nearly a shot for shot remake of some key scenes from that film… but now with Nintendo characters! View the video after the jump! [Caution: contains vulgar language and violence]

You might have seen the amazing “Zelda: The Musical” video by Mitchell Moffit that debuted a month ago. With hilarious lyrics, amusing sprite-ed animation, and fantastic singing it couldn’t have been better. Or could it have? Now only a month later a new version has been released with a new alternate ending. And a dramatic one at that. You’ll have to see it for yourself!

ArtistGamerGal has made quite a name for herself with her various Nintendo parody animations seen on YouTube. You might remember her previous video involving “Link and the Pig” which explored just how terribly wrong things could go when the young Hylian is bored and all he has to amuse himself is lifting swine over his head. Well, she’s back at it again with another parody of our beloved franchise, this time depicting why at the end of Ocarina of Time…
