A little over a month ago we shared with you a project that our fellow Zelda site, Zelda Universe had taken on in partnership with HMK. The endeavor consists of a series of videos titled Zelda 101 that would take you through the lore and world within the vast Zelda franchise. Their first episode focused on the Fierce Deity or “Kishin” as he is known in Japan and how this transformation impacted our hero in Majora’s Mask. Now, the second…

As it started in Zelda II, Link was given different attacks and maneuvers based on his swordplay. Years pass, and throughout the titles he’s taught various different skills to put to use. In Wind Waker, he wasn’t taught any moves other than the Hurricane Spin, yet the final battle happened to be one of the fights with the most swordplay.  Link’s swordplay is an essential mechanic to Zelda titles now, though the question is; should it remain the same, or…

Of all the Links who have donned the green tunic and cap and answered the call to save Hyrule, the Hero of Time stands out as particularly legendary. Not only did this incarnation of Link star in Ocarina of Time, a game many consider to be one of the best ever made, but he went on to save the day again in Majora’s Mask, a cult favorite among hardcore Zelda fans. His influence is keenly felt in The Wind Waker, and…

I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time, and now finally the moment has arrived to wonder: who is the Link in Majora’s Mask? Well, yes, to almost all Zelda fans it is common knowledge that the Link in Majora’s Mask is in fact the same Link from Ocarina of Time, and is still, essentially, the Hero of Time. But, he is, in fact, different. I’ve got your attention now, haven’t I? Well, keep reading if you want…

Playing through Ocarina of Time, I was always curious about the boss of the Shadow Temple, Bongo Bongo, and the boss of the Spirit Temple, Twinrova. My curiosity was furthered by finding online theories for Bongo Bongo, and the final words that Twinrova leave Link with after he defeats them in the Spirit Temple. Like my editorial on Bunnio, this will be more interpretive, looking at possible backgrounds and futures of the characters, rather than analysing what the characters are…

Hey there guys. Seems that I’ve finally sorted out the resolution problems we’ve been having, and the mailbag should be pretty regular again (although posts will go up on Thursdays now, generally.) This mailbag has 10 questions, but almost none of them are about Skyward Sword, so it definitely seems like we’ve gone back to normal… until the next Zelda game is announced! Enjoy! You can watch the mailbag here or view the video embed after the jump. Questions and…

When theories of the timeline and how each game connected were getting more and more confusing, Nintendo decided to clear up much of this and released the official Hyrule Historia book. With it’s release not only have our questions of the timeline been answered, but with each passing day more of the pages are being translated and it seems we are still learning new answers to mysteries that have gone unsolved for years. Last night a Zelda Universe forum member,…

How do you think Skyward Sword will connect with the rest of the Zelda games in the series? We obviously know that it is a prequel to Ocarina of Time and that it will deal with forging of the Master Sword. What about its connection to later Zelda titles in the Zelda Timeline like Twilight Princess? We’ve seen that the lettering in some of the shots seems to go hand in hand with Twilight Princess, but we really don’t know…
