Welcome back, everyone! October is upon us, and that means ZI’s weekly Caption Contest will be gearing up for the creepy festivities of Halloween later this month. The Zelda universe is no stranger to scary and horrific images, so we’ll be taking advantages of such images in the next few contests. This week is just the beginning, featuring the ever-creepy Happy Mask Salesman and his ReDead companion. What captions can you come up with?

Have you ever felt like you are experiencing events that have happened before, like things are so familiar you know what is going to happen? That sensation is known as Deja Vu. Imagine if that feeling happened constantly over a  short span of time, and when that span of time was over everything restarted in exactly the same way. This is essentially what happens to Link in Majora’s Mask. We can understand how it feels from his point of view…

GameOver Jesse has come up with yet another exciting fan theory, this time about the Happy Mask Salesman! This one definitely has some cool implications and discussion points! Be sure to watch it and find out more details.

My favorite point, is that the Happy Mask Salesman is a reflection of Link, like Ravio…

The other day we covered a “Miiting” between Nintendo and the Happy Mask Salesman on Miiverse. Included in this meeting was the Happy Mask Salesman seemingly dropping hints, such as:

“If this keeps going, maybe it wouldn’t be a stretch to expect me to pop up in a new Zelda game too…?”…

March 13th has come and gone, which means the aforementioned ‘Developer’s Room Miiting’ has been conducted. MariChan informed the Miiverse Legend of Zelda community that she’d be holding a direct interview with the franchise’s developers- only, the interview panned out a little differently than we all expected. The special guest interviewed actually turned out to be the Happy Mask Salesman! Jump to see the questions that MariChan- the voice of us fans- asked, and the answers we received from this…

Earlier today we posted a rather lengthy, mostly comedic, interview with the Happy Mask Salesman, who was most likely represented by a developer at Nintendo. No matter how you slice it, it was an official Nintendo interview, meaning what was said holds some value depending on what was being responded to. In this case, Happy Mask Salesman stated that he may be returning in a future Zelda title, all but suggesting that this is going to occur. Of course, this could mean nothing – just that Happy Mask Saleman’s journey through Hyrule and other various lands…

Most of us already know about the uncanny similarities between Majora’s Mask‘s unique Mirror Shield design and a specific mask found on the back of the Happy Mask Salesman. It’s safe to assume that one of these designs influenced the other, but the game was unclear as to which came first. In an interview with Japanese magazine Nintendo DreamEiji Aonuma explains how the Mirror Shield was actually based on the HMS’ distressed mask and how the development team felt about this choice…

The hype is real! We are just days removed from the release of the much anticipated Majora’s Mask 3D and Nintendo is keeping the spirit alive. Today Nintendo of Japan posted on their YouTube page a six minute exhibition of the action elements present in Majora’s Mask 3D. The half video, half commercial is narrated by none other than the mysterious Happy Mask Salesman as he takes us on an adventure with some of the most formidable foes Termina has…

“Majora’s Mask” is a tale of loneliness, betrayal, love, mortality, and unholy power– and that’s why we love it. Unlike any other Zelda game, “Majora’s Mask” is able to reach into the darkest depths of a gamer’s subconscious and drudge up all of the forgotten underlying reasons the gamer had begun playing video games in the first place. Majora attacked our weaknesses, and we were glad for it. Alexis S. AndersonAlexis S. Anderson is a Senior Editor at Zelda Dungeon…

It’s Monday, which means that it’s time for another Caption Contest. Last week, Ganondorf‘s evil stare brought about some of the most liked captions to date. With every week that passes by, more people are getting involved and it’s very exciting to see. This week’s Top 6 images had at least 20 likes each! We didn’t get as many text entries this time around, but remember that those are a viable option if you don’t have time to edit the image. Of course, we are continuing the trend of featuring the images and text captions that were your favorites. Enjoy!
