We all know that unfortunately a Zelda Netflix series is not likely to be produced anytime soon, but that didn’t keep the people behind YouTube’s Smosh from creating a hilarious hypothetical trailer for the formerly teased Game of Thrones style show. Not only does the comical video poke fun at some of Zelda’s quirkiest features (i.e. raging Cuccos, random fishing, compulsive pot-smashing), but it also integrates some of the more awkward aspects of Game of Thrones into this Zelda world….

I am a fairly big Game of Thrones fan – yes the TV show, not just the first book in the entire book series. I am also a massive Zelda fan. So when two of my favorite entertainment choices collide like this, I am sure to feel a bit giddy inside. While I typically do not enjoy intros to most shows I enjoy, I always felt Game of Thrones’ intro to each episode was extremely unique. The fine folks over at Megasteakman have decided to apply this introduction concept to A Link to the Past. It works surprisingly well considering they are re-imagining a 2D game into a 3D space…

For all you Game of Thrones fans out there, it’s safe to say that “winter is coming” to Hyrule. A team of incredibly talented artists in collaboration with MegaSteakMan have reinvented the 16-bit overworld map and theme of A Link to the Past in the style of Game of Thrones– pop-up buildings and overworld galore. One can only imagine the possibilities if Westeros and Hyrule were to collide. For now, we’ll have to make do with a Game of Hyrule…

The Pixel Kingdom, a YouTube channel that makes high-quality animations and video game crossovers, has made a Zelda-themed parody of Game of Thrones’ intro animation. The pixelated music and pop-up visuals are very well-made, and the video is quickly getting quite popular. Hit the jump to watch the video!

It goes without saying that fans of the Legend of Zelda series enjoy a good adventure. Many of those fans have thrust their favorite adventurer into a multitude of different worlds, imagining journeys of their own within everything from Minecraft to Skyrim and beyond. Even Nintendo has jumped on the “mash-up train” with the new Hyrule Warriors slated for release September 26. Well, one YouTube user under the name “The Pixel Kingdom” has created a new video that brings Game of Thrones into the land of Hyrule.
