I already wrote in my last Favorite Zelda Moments editorial — where I discussed the flooded Hyrule — about how I feel The Wind Waker managed better epic presentation and cooler storytelling than most other Zelda games, including Twilight Princess, which is usually the game you’d see praised for cinematic presentation. This week I’d like to discuss a few more related moments: The meetings with the deceased Sages of Hyrule. Now, The Wind Waker is usually considered a pretty cartoony…

The Earth Temple is my favorite dungeon in The Wind Waker, and has been for a long time. Because the things it succeeds at are less nuanced than those of Dragon Roost Cavern, it’s the only dungeon in The Wind Waker that I loved outright, whereas it was only upon further analysis that I came to understand why I appreciated Dragon Roost Cavern. That lack of nuance combined with the fact that the Earth Temple’s problems are few — regardless…

Happy Halloween! It’s that time of year again; children dress as goblins, ghouls or zombies, and go door to door requesting tricks or treats (but only ever get treats); and adults throw on the nearest article of rarely-worn clothing and make up some kind of costume for the party they’ll be attending. It’s also that time of year when we all consider things that we fear. In the spirit of the season, today we’ll be talking about fear in the…

The first four Zelda games have largely similar, and mostly iconic, dungeon music. It’s generally energetic, mysterious, and indicative of danger. The Legend of Zelda’s dungeon music could even be called sad; but for the most part, what followed was a host of very similar themes, to set up similar atmospheres and a unified feeling for the dungeons of these games. Ocarina of Time’s themed dungeons were notably different. Perhaps due in part to the 3D, but also building on…

In the last post I went over the Skyview Temple, talking about how it was a very traditional type of dungeon but with a thicker atmosphere and more detail put into the concept than ever before. In some ways the Earth Temple is a direct opposite: It’s quite unlike pretty much every other dungeon in the series, but its atmosphere isn’t nearly as thick. In the past I’ve praised Skyward Sword for having some of the most unique and original…

The folks over Digital Chumps have posted four direct feed videos of the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The first video shows off Link on his bird, flying through the Sky and landing on a pumpkin like island. The second video showcases some gameplay within the Earth Temple. The third video shows off some gameplay of the Faron Woods, while the fourth video shows off a new area of the Skyview Temple. While you are at it, they also posted…

Thanks to GoNintendo, we know have more screenshots and artwork of Skyward Sword. Destructoid were also nice enough to provide us with even more screenshots. These screenshots are based around Eldin Volcano, the Earth Temple and the Silent Realm. There are also screenshots about a new mini game and the sheikah woman. We have added the screenshots and artwork to the Skyward Sword screenshot and Skyward Sword artwork pages, so be sure to visit those pages to see the rest…

Another week has gone by and there has been another update over at the official Skyward Sword Website. This time the world map has been updated with sections for the Eldin Volcano and Earth Temple portions of the map. Like the previous weeks, we get two new short videos clips of the new area and several brand new screenshots. Additionally, there is also a brand new video showcasing how seamless travel is between the Sky and land beneath the clouds….
