Music covers in the Zelda fandom are not hard to come by, but I love finding something where someone has put their own creative twist to it. Especially with a tune as awesome as the Dark World theme from A Link to the Past. YouTube user RichaabEB has done just that, giving the theme a rock edge that makes it sound like an action packed montage or an epic fight is taking place. Make the jump to check it out!

Your journey’s throughout the Zelda titles have mostly taken place in the Light World already, as it’s just simply Hyrule.  However, in a few Zelda titles, there also exists a Dark World (but I’m pretty sure you guys knew that already).  The Dark World belongs mostly to A Link To The Past, where Link travels between the Light and Dark World in order to complete certain objectives.  Both worlds have their own fitting theme, with altered terrain and music that very…

“The Dark World” from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is arguably one of the best and most well-known themes in the franchise. Over the years, there have been many covers and re-imaginings of this iconic song. But, thanks to DaveYard Shift, we can hear this theme in a new light with an exciting mariachi cover…

You may have heard of OverClockedRemix, or OC Remix as they’re commonly known; they’re a very popular site that celebrates video game music, and uploads tons of fanmade remixes and reorchestrations of video game songs.

Earlier today, they uploaded a really mellow remix of the Dark World theme from A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds, by a remixer that goes by the name of djpretzel.

Personally, I really like it…

In both of my last editorals, I mentioned how one of my favorite things about Zelda was how dramatic it can be when it wants to be. So, I decided to make a top five list of my favorite dramatic moments in Zelda’s history. These moments were chosen by me alone, and are among my favorite moments in Zelda all together. But there are also some major spoilers, so keep that in mind. Hit the jump to see my picks!

Since it was confirmed that the Dark World would be appearing in A Link Between Worlds, I was always suspicious as to whether it would be the same Dark World as A Link to the Past. I had heard others talking about how it couldn’t be the same world, as the Dark World from A Link to the Past was reverted back to the Sacred Realm at the end of the game. It has since been confirmed that Lorule is…

When Nintendo announced “A Link to the Past 2”, and even when it was called A Link Between Worlds, I think most of us assumed the second world was just the Dark World (or at least, I did!), considering that it looked exactly the same and had the same enemies and the same music. When Nintendo said it would have a kingdom, I also assumed it would have been established later by either good or evil people who found themselves…

We’ve had

a couple of other articles based on Aonuma’s recent Spike interview, but not much on his closing statement. When talking about A Link to the Past, Aonuma was jokingly asked about Link’s purple bunny form from his trips to the dark world. Aonuma’s response was:

“So in the original A Link To The Past, that Dark World is where Ganon is sealed away, and that’s where Link becomes the pink bunny. Here, the other world we have is actually a completely different other world, so unfortunately, pink bunny Link will not be making an appearance. … But, this time, a purple bunny comes to Link’s world.” —

Eiji Aonuma

He may have given a little more information away than intended with that statement, though. He refers to

A Link Between Worlds‘ Lorule as “a completely different other world,” implying it is not, in fact, the dark world of the original A Link to the Past. He also jokes that a purple bunny comes to Link’s world. Wonder who that could be?

Before Skyward Sword, when Nintendo first showed us the fabulous Ghirahim, I wrote an article analyzing him and proposing possibilities as to who he might be. Now that we’ve had a similar reveal for A Link Between Worlds, I thought I’d do the same for the new villain. Maybe I’m making an assumption calling him the villain, but I can’t see any way he’s not! Aside from his obviously-villainous creepy face, this character’s key trait is that he looks like…
