Just a short while ago, Nintendo surprised us with a Nintendo Direct Micro that was uploaded to their YouTube Channel and hosted by a “micro” Bill Trinen. In the short Direct Bill talked about several new games that would be releasing this year as well as a few brief details about their focus and activities at E3. One of those topics included talk about the Nintendo World Championship 2015 that will be held on June 14. The full lineup of…

YouTube star iJustine recently posted an interview on her channel that she conducted with Shigeru Miyamoto and Bill Trinen from Nintendo. She talked many topics, but, of course, the new Zelda game came up eventually. Check out what Miyamoto had to say…

Today’s Nintendo Direct revealed two soon-to-be added features for Hyrule Warriors. By using your Link Amiibo on your gamepad, you can unlock a new weapon for Link: the Spinner. This movement-aiding object from Twilight Princess was rather underwhelming when not used on the designated rails, which might have lead to Nintendo’s decision to make up to the poor little thing by making it a weapon in Hyrule Warriors. The second feature is that by scanning any other Amiibo compatible with…

This has been a topic of debate in the Zelda fan base since 1998. We’ve written many editorials about it and even had it as a fairly recent Daily Debate topic when talking about Hyrule Warriors. As of today we now have an official stance from Nintendo, one that puts the entire debate to bed. Is Sheik a female? Is Sheik a male (through the power of magical transformation)? We now know. Bill Trinen, Nintendo’s senior product marketing manager and the main guy we’ve seen publicly as the official translator for Shigeru Miyamoto in the United States, has given Nintendo’s official stance…

Last Friday we posted some new game-play footage of A Link Between Worlds (be sure to bookmark our A Link Between Worlds Walkthrough for this fall), but what we failed to do was point out a few details that Bill slipped out about the game itself. The key detail refers to something that may ease some who have worried about the overworld being way to “exact” in it’s faithfulness to the original A Link to the Past. Apparently, the overworld itself isn’t exactly the same. From that video:

  • The overworld is not identical to A Link to the Past‘s
  • Nintendo has acknowledged that hieroglyphic Link looks like the Link from The Wind Waker‘s opening
  • Runs at 60 FPS
  • Link can merge into pretty much any wall
  • The dungeon we keep seeing is a new version of the Tower of Hera from A Link to the Past
  • The gauge on the left side gets rid of the need to restock items like arrows
  • The wall Link ability runs on that gauge and will pop you out of the wall when it runs out

Thoughts inside.

It’s set to be a great couple of years for Zelda fans. Not only have we got The Wind Waker HD being released on the Wii U later this year, but we also have two original games on the 3DS and Wii U, the latter of which we will probably get a glimpse of at this year’s E3. It’s a lot of work for anyone to take on, even for Aonuma’s talented team of developers at Nintendo EAD. In a…
