The speedrunning scene as a whole is something to marvel at. The amount of time some people have spent perfecting their execution of all the different techniques required for faster times is nothing short of impressive. Ocarina of Time is one of the most popular games to speedrun, and for good reason. There are many categories that Ocarina speedrunners can choose from, but as far as I’m aware, the most difficult category would probably have to be 100% Completion, as it requires many hours of focused gameplay with dozens of precise glitches to be performed correctly.

In a mere four hours thirty-one minutes and sixteen seconds, the popular speedrunner ZFG pierced his sword into Ganon’s face after conquering all nine dungeons, discovering every piece of heart, slaying 100 Gold Skulltulas, obtaining every menu item, and learning every song across Hyrule Field. Quite an impressive feat, but he’s not done yet! His goal now is to complete a run under 4:30:00, which seems totally plausible.

There are other categories for Ocarina of Time speedruns such as glitchless, all temples, and any% to name a few. Every category has different rules and objectives determined by the speedrunning community. While it’s not rocket science, it’s actually a lot more complicated than one would initially think.
