Earlier this week, we detailed the movesets for Rosalina & Luma and Little Mac in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. For 3DS/Wii U. Now we have the Famitsu scans and translations for you to see for yourself. In addition to those scans, we are also getting a look at the Goddess Palutena’s moves, as well as some info on the different single player modes.

Like all of the other fighters, Palutena has four special attack types with three variations of each. What puts her on the level of “Goddess” is that players can customize her with a selection of twelve different “miracles”. These “miracles” each have unique characteristics from the others, making her a potentially more versatile character overall. Her move list is as follows:

  • Neutral Special (1): Auto Aim – She automatically locks on to the opponent in front of her. After that, a rapid volley of three shots fire toward the opponent from her staff.
  • Neutral Special (2): Explosive Flame – An explosion suddenly occurs in an area near her. The explosion expands and deals steady damage to the opponents caught up.
  • Neutral Special (3): Divine Light – A special attack that makes a curtain of light shine on her surroundings. If the button is continuously pushed, the attack duration lengthens.
  • Side Special (1): Reflect Barrier – Makes a mysterious wall appear in front of her that reflects projectiles. As the wall goes forward, it pushes any opponent it contacts along with it.
  • Side Special (2): Human Missile – She launches herself toward the opponent while spinning. The opponent is sent flying when struck.
  • Side Special (3): Super Dash – Moves at high speed and sends opponents flying when they get hit. She can do dash attacks or jump during this move, too.
  • Down Special (1): Counter – She sets up a shield that takes the opponent’s attack and then counterattacks. If attacked while the shield is set, the shield defends, and immediately retaliates afterward.
  • Down Special (2): Lighten – Lightens her body and speeds up. However, damage she receives increases and it’s easier to be sent flying.
  • Down Special (3): Fireworks – An attack where she launches beautiful fireworks skyward. She is invulnerable for a brief moment when she fires them.
  • Upward Special (1): Teleport – She can warp in any direction she pleases. She cannot attack nor be harmed during the move. Can be used to evade enemy attacks or simply for movement.
  • Upward Special (2): Glider Jump – Glides after jumping, and can go great distances horizontally. She can change directions as well as attack during this move, too.
  • Upward Special (3): Rocket Jump – Jumps while creating an explosion. While her own jump height is low, it has the ability to launch the opponents great distances.
  • Final Smash: Black Hole + Mega Beam – A massive black hole appears before one’s eyes and draws opponents in. A mega laser beam is fired in their direction from her staff. Power expected from a goddess.

From what I can gather, it seems that players will be able to use Palutena with moves that focus on either speed, power, or survivability. Of course, each will have their own weaknesses, but I’m interested to see what sets players come up with.

The final scan gives some information on two of the single player modes that players will get to enjoy. The two modes are called “Simple” and “Stadium”. These modes aren’t exactly new to the series, but some of the features within are.

  • Simple Mode:
    • Simple Mode is Classic Mode with a few modifications.
    • In this mode, players will be able to progress through a set of simple stages and select between various routes.
    • Players will be able to alter the “Fighter Scale”: a system that lets you spend gold to get better rewards, but raises the difficulty.
    • Other than battling the usual fighters, there is also the possibility of fighting giant or metal fighters.
  • Stadium Mode:
    • Contains the Home Run Contest, Multi-Man Mode, and the new Smash Bomber.
    • The score for these games effect your “Global Fighting Strength” by either increasing or decreasing it, making each time count.
    • Smash Bomber is played similarly to Home Run Contest. However, instead of distance, you are trying to give it enough damage to create the biggest explosion possible by racking up points from obstacles waiting to be destroyed.

The game is set to release in the US on October 3rd, but all will be revealed when the game releases in Japan on September 13th. We’ll be here to let you know the latest as we get it. For now, check out the translated scans for yourself in the gallery below!
