Ever wondered what’s inside the mind of the man behind most of the music in The Legend of Zelda? In a recent interview with GameSpot, Koji Kondo was asked about a number of different topics regarding his work. The answer to one question in particular is sure to make many Zelda fans rejoice. When asked if there was any type of game in particular that he preferred creating music for, he had this to say:

“Maybe for the Legend of Zelda. Because of the variety of the worlds and the landscapes that you encounter within the game, it allows me to imagine musical types that I’ve never heard before. I get to work with a lot of different genres to meet the variety of the worlds and landscapes I’m seeing within the game. So I really enjoy working on that franchise a lot.”

It’s no wonder the series has such rich, captivating music. The man himself seems to get as much joy out of working on these games as we do playing them. Were you surprised by his answer, or was it to be expected? Let us know in the comments.
