Demos for Classic Zelda Titles Will Be Made Available Through Amiibo Tap

During today’s Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata announced the new amiibo Tap: Nintendo’s Greatest Bits system, which will allow players to sample game demos by tapping amiibo figures to their Wii U gamepad. As part of a large number of classic Nintendo games, the system will include demos of the NES Legend of Zelda, Zelda II, and A Link to the Past.
The amiibo Tap: Nintendo’s Greatest Bits system allows players to play three-minute gameplay highlights for the game they unlock through their amiibo figures. A variety of scenes will be available for each title, so players can view multiple sections of each game. Demo titles are randomly unclocked when an amiibo is first used with amiibo Tap, so fans will need a bit of luck if they want to unlock Zelda or any other game specifically. This means that specific Zelda amiibo will not necessarily unlock a Zelda game. Amiibo Tap: Nintendo’s Greatest Bits will be realeased as a free download on the Nintendo eShop sometime this spring.
