Daily Debate: What Should Be Revealed During the Hyrule Warriors Direct?

Unlike most of our daily debates, this one will have a true and finite answer in just a matter of hours! Nonetheless, as we are expecting a massive deluge of information that goes above and beyond any reveals thus far (as tends to be the case with game specific Nintendo Directs), it’s certainly worth discussing what could be revealed. With

Hyrule Warriors releasing in Japan in a measly ten days, this might just be our last time to speculate like mad!

For those unfamiliar with the medium, Nintendo Direct has been the source of big news from the Big N for the past couple years. Through this form, Nintendo executives (usually Iwata) speak “directly” to the consumers through a prerecorded video streamed online. What makes these events so exciting are two important and odd concepts: the news is targeted at the consumers first, rather than a news outlet; we receive very brief warning. Even this particular direct, with a three day warning period, is actually tied with the longest waiting period from announcement to execution with the Smash Bros. Direct back in April, making the wait that much more excruciating—but it’s nearly over!

Directs have announced everything from five characters at one time for

Smash to the worldwide release of the sixth generation of Pokémon, so we naturally have very high hopes about tonight’s news. Could it be characters? Online modes? Some collectibles for the West? I’m hoping for all the above and more, but I’m not worried; I’ve rarely left a Nintendo Direct feeling unfulfilled. Thus, even if Nintendo’s not planning to let me play as The Imprisoned so that I can stomp Fi until she’s 100% quiet, I trust that there’s something equally satisfying up its sleeve.
