Someone had to do it.

Which was your favorite? I liked 3 the most for the fights, but all the plot and the classic stuff came together in 6 I'd say.

The plot for 2 and 3 was severely lacking, and the acting needed to be way, way better. Granted it is difficult to act like an emotionless jedi and then expect more emotion.

Frankly I typically like the newer ones while also giving kudos to the older ones as well. The newer ones were more visually appealing as well as having some well known actors in them, like Christopher Lee as Dooku.
The older ones were good, and I can see why they'd be classic movies, but not having gotten the new version of the original trilogy, I've always watched the 1970's version VHS tapes of them. The one thing I didn't like was a few of the lightsaber fights in 4 and 5 left too much to be desired, which they thankfully fixed in episodes 1, 2, and 3. Mostly three.

3 had the best fights, I loved the force powers and fighting with Yoda and Duku in 2 the best though.

I have them "remastered" but still on VHS. I like watching the limbs fall off.

That's not as sadistic as it sounds.

To see the older ships on strings, youd have to be on drugs. or be extremely phscotic.

for starters, Strings werent used; motion controlled cameras were, and the only time you can see the rods holding the ships up is when the Falcon first gets pulled into the DS in epp. IV.

Love the films. I somehow ended up with them thrice on VHS and twice on DVD.

First time I had 'em was on VHS.
then I got them on DVD.
Then I found what I thought was the oldest box set
then I found what I now know to be the oldest VHS box set
Then georgy thought of a new way to make money by releasing all the films in both their original release format and their newest CGI. the original format had the better effects and graphics. And this is coming from someone who plans on making a living doing CGI.

My favorite was part 3. I've found that many of the people who are really, really big on the series don't hardly like the new ones, just because the originals were, original. But to me, its a lot more exciting to see light saber fighting in the martial arts style rather than the fencing style. The original trilogy had better acting, but the new trilogy was just better. It had everything everyone wanted to see or find out that was backstory from the originals, and was presented pretty well, so anytime you get to see what happend before its good. The biggest thing, how Darth Vader came to be, is revealed mainly in part 3, therefore, it is my favorite because he is my favorite character.

4-6 are all great movies. 1-3 are soulless CGI husks that George Lucas should be ashamed of.

Not to be snobbish, but its obvious that OT was the superior trilogy. The new trilogy was too cartoonish. Its sad that looking at the new CG movie, I can't tell the difference aside from the characters.

George Lucas has a great imagination, but he is a very poor director. He was better off in the role of producer, feeding ideas to a much more talented movie maker.

The new CG movie is not part of the "new trilogy", and it's not even close to how the characters look in the movies. I mean, look at Dooku and Mace Windu especially. They don't even look similar to their real life counterparts.

I know that. I'm just commenting that, aside from the character designs, the CG movie looks identical to the new trilogy. Watching the new movies, I was struck how much it looked like a cartoon with live actors. I guess the CG movie was just the next logical step.

Ok, now you've lost me. I fail to see how they resemble cartoons in even the most remote aspect.

The CG backgrounds, the CG ships, the CG aliens, the CG planets... basically everything was big colorful CG except the actors.

The original trilogy hands down, although I will give props to Episode 3. Anakin doing whatever he can to save Padme and then her dieing because of the path he took to save her, thats just good writing there.

I prefered episode 5 because I love watching that AT-AT walf over that snowspeeder, but next would come episode 2.

4-6 were very entertaining movies.

1-3 were greatly disappointing and relied on cheesy action for success.

The new animated movie- The biggest chunk of crap the world has ever seen.

I loved the original trilogy. A New Hope is my favorite, but I love the ewoks in ROTJ. The newer trilogy is meh. I own them all, and kind of enjoy them, but they just aren't classic.

I hate the way They've edited ep 6 so that Vader's ghost is shown as anakin skywalker from episode 6. He looks misplaced beside the aged obi wans ghost and yoda.

As a kid there was 2 things I grew up on:
1. Video Games
2. STAR WARS
As a kid thats all I did was watched 4,5,6 and played video games. I knew the lines off by heart and would often say them as the movie went on. I was really dissapointed with 1,2,3 though.

I pretty much hated how they screwed up a lot of stuff with episodes 1-3 but hey, more star wars is always great:)
My favorite must be "The Empire Strikes Back"

I thought numbers IV and V were okay, but it got kind stupid at the end of VI.

I mean really, the Empire gets beaten by the care bears in space?

They were supposed to be Wookies but George Lucas just had to appeal to the kids.

You can kind of see where everything started to go awry in his brain.

Oh yeah, "the kids".

I guess that's all old Lucas cares about now. Entertaining "the kids who make him rich".

I have the original 3 on vhs. Its so funny seeing the ships held by strings

that sure must be funny since they never used strings on the models

anywho.... to me, the best is and always will be The Empire Strikes Back

you get all the winning elements:

- good guys make a run for their lives at the very beginning
- vader is killing imperial officers right and left
- han solo gets his butt frozen in carbonite
- luke gets his hand choped off
- most kick *** jedi master in history is revealed!! (not anymore thx to the prequels though)
- we get to see vader in a real fight
- greatest plot twist in cinema history ever!!!

I'm a starwars geek/fanboy, w/e you call it and I love all the movies, but TESB is my favourite by far

I liked the 3rd one. It was epic. I like epic.

I always used to watch star wars. Lately, for some reason, I'm not watching them, and not caring about star wars at all. I loved the saga, and will watch it whenever I have a chance.

I think Empire and Sith are tied for my favourite. It moves back and forth as I watch them. Sometimes I favour one over the other. 4 and 2 are probably next, then 6 and 1. I don't have a definitive 1 through 6 order of favourites.

While straying from the topic a bit...

It seems (not just here, but in general) most older people liked 4-6 and younger like 1-3. I may be older, but I only watched the original trilogy for the first time a year before Episode 1 came out. I'm a huge (HUGE!) Star Wars fan now, but I never grew up with Star Wars, so I suppose that gave me a fresh look on all of the newer material. I really don't care who shot first, or that people are CGI now. Heck, I even have a soft spot for Jar Jar Binks. I also think Clone Wars is some of the best TV I've watched in recent years. Much better than all of those reality show churn-outs and all that crime drama drivel.

I never agreed with the theory that 1-3, or the Special Editions ruined anything. George Lucas never came to your house and took the original copies from you. You can still watch them. I'm sure he actually does have the power to do this, but he still hasn't.

To be honest you are never beating the original with actors like Mark Hamil in them, The prequels were good but I really thought they were as good, Seeing as Attack of the Clones in my opinion is the worst and of the 3 with Phantom Menace shortly behind, I like the original for many reasons and there are too many to explain. But I like them all, My favourite though is A New Hope, I just love it, I don't know why, I have yet to see the last film though.....or was it the fifth....I can't remember O.o. But I still prefer thr Originals and always will.

3, 4, 5, and 6 are the only ones I like. 3 I only liked for the action and graphics. 4, 5, and 6 are the only ones I consider to be Star Wars. Everyone nowadays is obsessed with going back way too far in the timeline. But luckily it's not as confusing as Zelda.

The real Star Wars are the old ones. 4-6 were the most fun to watch for me, cuz Mark Hamil did a really good job on LUke.

My favorite, by a country mile would be The Phantom Menace, I absolutely loved the storyline, and action sequences. I really wasn't that into Revenge of the Sith, mostly because they tried to cram too much into one movie, and Anakin is unrealistically subdued to the Dark Side easily. So I think Return of the Jedi and A New Hope would be my 2nd and 3rd, respectively. I didn't really like The Empire Strikes Back, it was quite boring for me, but Attack of the Clones was so dreadful, that even words can't really describe it.
