So, anyone watch the show? Love it? Loathe it? Indifferent? Favorite songs, quotations, etc?
Me, I like most of the dialogue, love the fact that the "villains" are so intentionally over the top I can laugh at them instead of hate them (thank you, Sue Sylvester) and enjoy most of the songs in context (on CD they can sometimes sound too show-choiry, though.) Not fond of Mr. Shuester's story lines right now but the kids' story lines make up for it.
I also can't stop quoting "He's cheating off a girl who thinks she square root of four is rainbows," but that's another issue.

I shall bring this topic back to life, because Glee is too awesome to be forgotten:xd:
I love all of Brittney's random lines, like "Did you know that dolphins are just gay sharks?" (off the top of my head)
But I just can't wait until season 2! I'm so excited on what's going to happen in this awesome drama-filled, musically awesome show!

I love Glee! I randomy started to watch it in April and have followed it since. I actually almost cried during the season finale.
Can't wait for season 2 to begin:D
Hooray for fellow Gleeks! (wow, can't believe I just used that term:lol:)

I like it. I'm male and often I'm made fun of for liking Glee. (mostly by my roomate)
The songs are good and all that stuff. I hate the plot though. It's as bad as any soap opera. Like no joke if there were a soap opera about high school kids it wouldn't be as dramatic. I think that its a really well done soap opera, though. Production values are high and the acting is all pretty good.
My favorite character is the asian guy who never talks except when he sings and dances. So bad a**.

Ummm, eww
Loathe loathe loathe loathe loathe loathe loatheee  It's just way too showy, over the top, and generally stupid to me <.<
But then again I dislike with a passion that burns with the combined power of a thousand suns a lot of things that teenage girls are meant to adore <.<

Glee is amazing... And for a highschool show that plays extremely off of stereotyping people... My choir pretty much acted like that... having a song for every season of life...
I love glee, I own all the soundtracks and some day if I ever have spending money again... I will get the dvd's

In my initial post I had a comment about how the songs sound on CD. But now that we've got four soundtracks, there are a lot of songs I like, whether in context of the show or on CD.
For starters, I love the mash-ups. Of course, there's It's My Life/Confesions Part II (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_cU7gixkJY&feature=related) and Halo/Walking on Sunshine from the "Vitamin D" episode. Borderline/Open your heart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDW_mD5oknA) was also a good mash-up, though.
I'm also a big fan of any song where Rachel gets to belt - Total Eclipse of the Heart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9d2HHg5PHHw), Faithfully (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY4gxzm4y6Q), and I Dreamed a Dream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7fWz4WBNs4&feature=related) (the latter of which has the benefit that Idina Menzel and Lea Michele sound amazing together.)
Will's not my favorite character, but I do like a lot of the songs he sings on - Fire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aC66dfr_6EY)(with Kristin Chenowith), Dream on (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGZU5Z1GpBM&feature=related) (with Neil Patrick Harris), and Over the Rainbow (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amuuQLl9ook). On the other hand, please, Will, stop rapping, and if I never hear you sing "Thong Song" again it will be too soon.
Honestly, I could keep linking and linking away. XD I've got other songs I like just as much but I'll stop there.
I won't post much about the next season since this isn't a spoilers, thread, but there's one guest star I'm really looking forward too. I also want to see Sue's next move since she was the one who was instrumental in bringing the glee club back for the following year. This is pure speculation, but I cannot see her missing the opportunity to bring that up to Will when it's convenient for her. "You've signed up for the auditorium this afternoon? That's too bad, my Cheerios need to practice bungee jumping into the spotlight. You wouldn't even have a glee club if it weren't for me, William. I'm sure you can wait until month to use it."

I've really never seen the show. I got the first episode on Itunes for free, but I've never had a chance or the will to watch it. Many of my friends love it, but I'm never really seen the appeal. I guess it's the catchy pop music.
Recently I found out that one of my favorite new actors is going to be on the show, Darren Criss. Some of you may know hime From StarKidPotter's Harry Potter Musical, where he played Harry. Anyways, because of his appearance, I may have to watch the show.

I was really into it during the first season, but that seemed to be the show's peak. I don't really care for the plot anymore, and I don't like the episodes dedicated to one artist (I don't know how I sat through the Britney Spears episode). I still watch it, but it's more in the background as I do something else more constructive.

I was a little weird about it at first, but it was done rather well. I liked the conclusion and the whole theme of "finding yourself" and all that.

"You can have your Barbaras, and your Chers, and your Christinas,.. wow I just lost my train of thought, you have so much margarine in your hair."
"If your kids want to praise Jesus in class, I suggest they enroll at Sweet Holy Mother of God Academy on I Love Jesus street. But not here."
"Your hair looks like a briar patch. I keep expecting racist, animated Disney characters to pop out and start singing about living on the bayou."
"It's a Britney Spears sex riot!"
Long live Coach Sue Sylvester!

It simply doesn't appeal to me... Comedy? I haven't even smiled while watching it... I find it boring...
And every song they cover gets ruined IMO

I don't like it. It's a bad excuse for comedy and they completly butcher classic songs. But just my opinion.

Your opinion must not account for much then... Seeing as every song they cover, the original artist tops the charts the following weeks. Not to mention Glee is effectively saving the music programs in our school. So along with making music, which isn't half bad most of the time it is awesome for all the extra things they do for the community. What other shows do you see doing that?

Lol, I think that in season 1 his official name was "The Other Asian" and it wasn't 'til season two that they actually wrote him into all the drama.
Since I've noticed him in like, every major dance production XD. Erm, the first thing I noticed him in was a trailer for Step Up 3D, but I think he was also in Step Up 2: the streets, a name I can only remember because of how ridiculous it is :P

I love how the character's name was "the other asian" that makes me happy. They do ruin songs so even if the songs do top the charts it doesn't give them the right to butcher the song. That's my opinion.
Glee is my favorite musical comedy show and right now I am just watching season 2 which is so great.

Oh, I agree.*
I tried watching it a few times. I was in choir, and I thought the show might foster an appreciation for that in other people since I'd heard it was so good, but my choir was nothing like theirs. I like comedy, but I've never seen anything funny about the show. Also, the acting is just atrocious--is that supposed to be the funny part? Seems like everyone in the show took acting lessons from Tommy Wiseau of "The Room." Oh, and finally, the shows can get ridiculous preachy. I've seen some clips with five-minute speeches about tolerance and whatnot. Decent messages, but a basic tenet of writing is showing and not telling. If a character gives a speech, it should be incorporated smoothly into the dialog.
I heard that whoever makes Glee was interested in incorporating some Rush songs. If they ever cover 2112 or Xanadu, music as we know it will have officially died. Fortunately, Geddy's metal-as-**** voice in the 70's albums will probably keep them away from their best songs.
*This is all personal opinion, and I don't think any less of people who enjoy the show, nor do I even think my opinion is objective truth.:)

I saw several Glee episode and I thought it was sort of funny. The main problem for me is that it is a bit too 'American' for me. Dutch schools are so much different that I can't relate to the characters, humor and drama. We don't have clubs or sport teams that you can join as side activity, so I don't get the typical stereotypes of 'club people' and the rivalry between different clubs in Glee. It is more confusing for me than it is funny, especially since I don't know how a normal American school works (the only references I have are Saved by the Bell and Ned's School Survival Guide...)
And what is a glee anyway? After several episode and all the commercials on tv, I still don't know what glee means >.>.

Glee
A glee is an English type of part song (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Part_song) spanning the late baroque, classical and early romantic periods. It is usually scored for at least three voices, and generally intended to be sung unaccompanied. Glees often consist of a number of short, musically contrasted movements and their texts can be convivial, fraternal, idyllic, tender, philosophical or even (occasionally) dramatic. Their respectable and artistic character contrasts with the bawdiness of many catches (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catch_%28music%29) of the late 15th C., which made glees appropriate in female company. Although most glees were originally written to be sung in gentlemen's singing clubs, they often included soprano parts—which were sung by boys (church choristers) in earlier years, and later by ladies who were often present as guests. Glees as described above fall into a different musical category from traditional college songs or fight songs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fight_songs). from wikipedia.
Not all schools have clubs. But one of the most common clubs you hear about when people talk about "clubs" in general is "Glee Club" Disney's Chicken Little makes a side mention of "why don't you collect stamps or join glee club, or something" My school had a big choral program so no glee club was necessary.

I'm not entirely sure about Glee. They sing songs that are already popular right? Some are good. Don't Stop Believing is one of them. But others such as Gives you Hell isn't as good. I don't watch the show though.
Glee's cool, ( yes i am a guy) I really like Mercedes. she has an Awesome voice. I loved friday.
