View Full Version : Okay, Story Time on How My Life Relates to Zelda!!!

So I was in Spanish class, not paying attention and day dreaming, as usual. When my Spanish teacher said "gordo," I immediately snapped out of my day dreaming and paid attention for once. I thought he said "goron," which if you aren't a Zelda fan (which is impossible if you have an account here) is a big rock creature that talks. Then, when the class was over, I was disappointed he wasn't going to talk about Zelda, so I went back to day dreaming. (Yeah... while I was walking to my next class) My friend caught up with me and said something and then she asked me if I was day dreaming. I didn't answer, because, well, I was day dreaming. So she said, "Earth to THP! (acronym for TreeHuggerPanda, if you didn't notice) Where are you?" And I said "It's a secret to everybody!" She didn't get it, and neither did everyone surrounding around me.
And yeah, anything similar ever happen to you?

I say "it's a secret to everybody" sometimes. On one occasion someone picked up on it. I also used the plot of Ocarina of Time for my SAT essay.

No, not really, Hugger. But I use to daydream a lot lol. I did that too often and well...I got in trouble often. But I didn't care, daydreaming to me was something fun. Also, I didn't know what a goron was...now I do thanks to you. :P

I've said "It's a secret to everybody" a few times before, but each time there has been somebody nearby who got it. Actually, I make a lot of Zelda references, but I work at GameStop, so somebody is always around to respond with another Zelda reference.

i always use 'its a secret to everybody' to my friend john, but i use 'tee-hee that wont work' A LOT at school. like when i hear a serious story about something or someone's insulting someone i just walk past saying 'tee-hee, that wont work' (for those of you who didn't know, that what skull kid says if you use a projectile agenst him on top of the clock tower) it usually works to ruin moments. but i do make a good amout of zelda references to counter all the anime and pokemon references. here's and example of an average day-
'hey, sup'
'nothin'
'dude, last night on bleach-'
'he got stabed. the end.'
'no, he-'
'said tee-hee that wont work'
'no, he fought the 4th espada. then on pokemon-
'no, not in public'
'but you like pokemon-'
'its a secret to everybody'

Well, an instance like this has never really happened. Well, maybe once, but it was a joke from a friend. It went like this:
Joke: "How did Link help Nintendo win the basketball game?"
Answer: "With a hookshot"
Not a lot of people got it though, I was probably the only one in the crowd who did get it.
Heh, wow, I haven't heard the word "gordo" used in my Spanish class, but then again, it is Spanish 2. I definitely would have thought of the Gordo from the Kirby games, which this enemy was also found in LA.

The word "gordo" (I think) means fat. So know, when I think of the word "gordo" I think of gorons! (because, well, they're on the big side)

Yes, gordo does mean fat. But in LA, they weren't called Gordos they were called Sea Urchins.

Zelda relates to my life on a daily basis. Mostly it has to do with something someone says and I think of a Zelda reference and start snickering to myself. I rarely tell people what I am thinking because all my friends roll their eyes and laugh at me. lol
But the best one is when i'm on ZD before class and someone comes and sits down beside me to ask me a question because they are stuck in a game and wondered if I knew how to help. The sad part is, is that I can usually tell them without even having to really think about it. THis happens on a fairly regular basis.

What Din said. Also I talk with two of my friends almost constantly about Zelda, even to the lengths of pondering where Tingle came from. :yuck:

Everyday I have to try my best and be brave, I know it sounds pitiful but for personal reasons I have a hard time facing other people. It's not cause im scared of them, far from it. It's just that I don't have as much faith in myself as I used to, I'm unsure when before I used to be confident and easygoing. Now I'm quiet and slow to act just because I feel like I'm less of the person I used to be. I think I need to relearn what made me confident in the first place, that this is somehow just a road leading back to my original self and along the way there are difficulties, but like Link if I can be brave and just take it one dungeon at a time, maybe I end up finding what I was looking for.

I oftentimes quote the CD-i games (usually Wand of Gamelon and Faces of Evil) when talking to people, e.g. my mom asks me to clean my room and I respond with "there is no time, your other son is enough."

I see Triforces everywhere.
They are a *surprisingly* common corporate logo. Anything that's a "tri" coropration seems to use them.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but we have outdoor trash cans at my work that look surprisingly similar to the torches in Twilight Princess. I have - more than once - seen them and thought, "I need to light the torches with my lantern!" *pause* "Wait a second..."

Most 'Delta' companies as well, the one I remember is a powertool manufacturer.

I'm actually using LoZ in a life situation RIGHT NOW! My high school mascot is a knight and every year a couple artsy-fartsy seniors get together to paint a big graduating class mural in the hallway. (The murals stay there forever, so its a big deal). The mural has to include a knight, and because lil 'ol me is on the designing and painting team, I'm already thinking of some ways to sneak a Zelda design in there.. hehe
In my simple design so far, the knight has his sword drawn back and is about to fight a nasty-looking dragon. I've already used a Darknut as a rough reference for Mr. Knight, but maybe I'll post the sketch and we'll see what else is possible ;)

While I don't frequently use Zelda references on a daily basis, they will come out every once in a while. On the other hand, at my school, I am considered the walking, talking Zelda encyclopedia. If anyone has any question about any Zelda game they only come to me. It makes me feel extremely useful, but around 20% of the stuff I tell them is stuff I learned from ZD.

One time my friend told me about a time in an online game where disasters happen every two minutes, and an extremely rare one is where the moon is falling. Need I tell you what he said?

This just happened to me today. Right now in my AP World History class, we're studying the period of 1914 to the present. In this time period covers the two World Wars. They are abbreviated as WWI and WWII. I am doing homework as of now and when I saw WWII I definitely read it as Wind Waker two. Its a good thing this is homework or I probably would have embarrassed myself in front of the whole class ._.

I've said many Zelda references every time I chat with my friends, though not of them get what I said. But hey I feel happy enough that I know some Zelda lines. :3
My favorite is the classic "It's a secret to everyone." Though I get no comeback from it.
other lines I like to use are
Let's play the song of storms! It's too hot!
Hey! Look! Let's Listen!
Watch out!
I am Error! (i say this when I made a mistake)

Another thing, long-running...
Ever since last August, I've been working at a horse ranch. It's just part-time. I muck the stables. The job was found for me through a service that gets work for people with disablities ( I'm... rather severely bipolar and have a very hard time dealing with human beings. When humans are frustrating, I get frustrated and usually end up crying or in some kind of semi-violent rage. Working with animals - well-mannered horses - is something I can handle and do well at). I am tempted, sometimes, to feel sorry for myself because it seems that the only job I've been able to do well at is a lowly, dirty job that doesn't pay much and is often the kind of work that people hire illegal immigrants for. I *love* my job (I love the sweet horses), but it isn't a job that carries respect with a lot of people. It's unskilled labor. I work with poop.
A thing that makes me feel good about my job is thinking to Link in Twilight Princess. He started out doing ranch work and became a Hero. Also, I think about Ocarina of Time and Malon, Talon and Ingo - how they worked and lived humbly and liked it.
I know it's kind of stupid, but thinking things like "Hey, I'm like TP Link" as I work makes me feel good.

the ony people besides me that i know are these really weird boys in my math, english and science groups who all hate me, although i often use Zelda references to my friends ( when i need to tell them something i go Hey! Listen! for example) and if the boys are around they all tend to to raise an eyebrow at me, you should have seen their faces when we had to make a mask for a masquerade romeo and juliet thing :D also what is 'its a secret to everybody' from?
okay never mind i have now played the original LoZ!
I see Triforces in ceiling tiles, florecent illuminators(Those long lights you sometimes see in schools or in bathrooms), floor tiles, artwork, and arcitectual designs. I also use a ton of Zelda refrences when people talk to me. I also have a theory that LOZ is true, and that there are three goddesses and the triforce really exists. (thats the weird me :D) every time someone talks about something that sounds mildly Zelda-ish, whatever they say, I think 'Hey, that sounded like Ciela' or 'Is that person related to Ganondorf?'. LOZ plays a big part in my life.

On one of my standerized(<spelling?) tests there was a question (geometery, so math) and it had the triforce. I also saw a triforce at Disney World in Florida inside of an indoor ride (that nobody I know even likes, I just saw it from another queue across from it). And I randomly say Zelda stuff at school and people just look at me, confused.

So, after work today, I totally had to dig up this thread to share my experience.
I'm doing some graphic design work for a film company this summer, and had a very Zelda moment while working on an info spread for a food channel's biography on a local chef. The article had little headers above the body paragraphs, one of which being "What's For Dinner?" and instantly I start hearing in my head, over and over again, the voice of the King from CD-I Zelda, "I wonder what's for dinner!" I must've sounded just a tad insane snickering at a food article in my cubicle :P

My favorite saying during not-so-great times has been none other than "If all else fails, use fire."
And when faced with a question I don't feel like answering, I always say "it's a secret to everyone", and hand them a quarter or whatever piece of small change I may have on me at the time. I usually don't have anything, so I use gum as a substitute.
People get so confused. I love it. =)

The quote "Its a secret to everybody" was from the original Legend of Zelda. Occasionally you will uncover a hidden stairway and down below is a Moblin that will give you Rupees. "Its a secret to everybody." is what he says when you go down then stairs and see him.
Its something I use sometimes, but only around the house.

This was not zelda related, but twice in french class, it was my first class and I have ensamnia since I was 12, I fell asleep. Then, someone woke me up and everyone started laughing. The teacher said everyone has been watchng me sleep four 3 minutes the second time. Maybe that is why I have depresion.... Good thing I am homeschooled now, that way I only have to go once a week at 2. ^ -^;

I seemed to say that a lot yesterday, while at an amusement park. I really think this is a quote you could live by :P

This happens to me so much. I've seen I Triforce in a math book before, and the little voice in my head bursts OMG THE TRIFORCE!
And another thing that involved triangles was in my Science class. The (student) teacher was showing us an easy way to remember how to set up a certain formula, in a triangle(note the triangle did not look like the Triforce). He called it "the Magic Triangle". This somehow made me think of the Triforce.
Here's something really odd that happenned to me: In my Gym class, we were playing a game of soccer-basesball. The pitcher had a blue foamy soccer ball. When she rolled the ball, as I was standing in line waiting for my turn, I immeadiately thought of SS Link rolling a bomb. What? This was pretty much two or three days after the announcement of Skyward Sword, I couldn't help it.:P
