Who here likes the Percy Jackson series? It's probably my favorite book series of all time:D Discuss:

I actually just finished the first book in the series yesterday. I must say, I liked it a lot more than I thought I would, even though I haven't seen the movie yet. I've been studying Greek Mythology in school since the semester started, so it was much easier to appreciate it and enjoy it because I could catch all of the little references. Not sure what someone who knows nothing about Greek Myth would think of it though.

Well, Rick Riordan said that in fall 2010, there's gonna be another series with a new generation of demigods. I don't know if it will be as good, but we'll just have to wait and see.

Been reading the books recently and i find it interesting. It was enchanting and exciting to see what happens in those books, Though i loved how they used the Gods from ancient Greece in this story. Though I think people who ain't into Greek Myths won't be able to catch on. They need to do some research or read books explaining Greek Mythology, Might as well include Greek Philosophy. The references there will create a deeper effect when reading these Book series

Yes! I love this book series. I remember having to read the second one in school two years ago, and I loved it. I've read all of them already except for the fifth one, but I bought that one a few months ago. I plan on reading it soon. :3

I liked the first book, as I've been a fan of greek mythology almost as long I've been reading for pleasure, though I haven't gotten to the rest of the series. I think the movie was a good adaption, sure it left out things but even LOTR left out cool stuff like the razing of the Shire and minor characters.

My sister reads those books, but I don't. I ended up watching the movie with her in theaters, which was pretty good, all things considered. Although some of the fanbase seemed a little.... well... young. Almost the entire movie theater had girls from the age of like 7 to like 10. What's up with that?
Back to the story, I loved how I could understand exactly what was going on just from my extensive knowledge of Greek mythology. It also made the fans believe I had read the book, when in fact I hadn't.

I liked the first book. I do know some Greek mythology like about the Titans, which god goes where, the Big 3, and all that stuff. I was looking for the 2nd book in my school library but some people have already beat me to it.

That is weird

Well if someone thinks that you didn't read the book and starts bullying you, you could slip away by telling him about what you know. But then how would you know about the Master Bolt and stuff that I think only happened in the story?

Actually in a version of the War of the Titans, Zeus needs to steal an axel or some part of the wheel assembly from Helios' chariot in order for the cyclopes to forge his bolts. So there is some basis for the Master Bolt.

It's not mandatory but you should read it considering that it's such a good book. I didn't think it was good at first but I read the Lightning Thief and it was good. Sea of Monsters is the 2nd one and it has a huge cliffhanger at the end.

*~WARNING A TON OF SPOILERS~*
The demigod files has 3 extra short stories about Percy. It also has some information about most of the gods and demigods and has interviews on Percy, Annabeth, Grover, ect. Nico's and Bianca's dad is Hades and Bianca dies and that's before they find out their dad is Hades. So Nico's power is make cracks in the floor (really big ones) and he can call the dead. (which is really cool) Don't worry, Nico isn't part of the prophecy because he was born before World War II. (Lotus Hotel and Casino or something along that lines)

Since WW2 happened around 60-70 years ago, how would Nico and Bianca be at a middle school? Nico's powers are cool. Wait. If the Big 3 swore upon the River Stix and Thalia was killed by monsters until she was turned into a tree, how come Percy isn't a shark or something like that?

First of all, Nico is 10 and Bianca is 12. They are immortal for 60-70 due to the Lotus Hotel and Casino, so you never age until you come out. Percy is a demigod, which means he has to be part human, and yeah... I'm like half way through the Last book. (SPOILER ALERT!)So sad that Silena died...

I was reading the part in the last book where Percy fights Hyperion, the Titan of Light, while listening to Enter Sandman by Metallica. Holy crap! The effect was intoxicating!

I have never even heard a thing about Greek Mytho... 'Till I read the PJ books. I am absolutly OBSESSED with them. One time, I was taking a bath, and got bored, so I picked up one of the Percy books, and read it for 3 hours! Now, I am reading Battle of the Labrynth, and OMG, I cannot put it down! Hands down, Percy Jackson and the Olympians get 11 on a 1-10 scale! Oh, and, Tree Hugger Panda, If you have read Battle of the Labrynth, you would know that Nico di Angelo has WAYY more powers than just making huge cracks in the ground... *looks out to onlookers* Gosh, don't you just HATE it when people get thing that were clearly stated in text, completely wrong? It's SO annoying!

YES! I just finished the 3rd book a few minutes ago. I still can't believe that Percy isn't a shark or something like that and aren't all demigods half-bloods? I wonder if Nico joins Luke. Speaking of which, how the hell did he survive that fall. Thalia kicked him off a cliff that was like 50 feet.

Finished the whole series a while back. I really enjoyed it too, more so than I thought I would. Definitely getting it on Blu Ray when the movie comes out, and I really hope that sequels will follow. I just wish those books were a bit longer. I could blaze through one in just under three days.
Nico is such a badass.
Almost the entire movie theater had girls from the age of like 7 to like 10. What's up with that?
I really don't have a clue. The plot gets really dark at times, and the fighting scenes were pretty intense too. Don't know how they portrayed it in the movie though.

Lol, I just finished the 5th book. It was probably the best of them all. If Percy's mom usedto be able to see through the Mist, wouldn't that let the Oracle live inside her? I think there should be a 6th book. The series is too good to end.

I great Series I finished it when the movie came out it was funny cause I was racing two other guys in my class I won by cheating and reading the 5th and then the 4th and beating them. It is a wonderful series I love how talks like he is a 13,14,15,16? year old boy and how he goes through stuff like Odysseus and the maze... It was wonderful to just read every page playing a story in my head of a boy who is a demigod and its just... AMAZING!
I read the books they were good but not my favorites ever

I've read the first four books of the series and I've just recently picked up the last book so no spoilers please. Ever since I began reading them, I fell in love with the series. It's pretty cool. Mythology and fantasy are two of my favorite subjects and was the reason why I picked up the books in the first place. I've also read the first book of the new series Riordan is writing, The Kane Chronicles, and it's awesome too. I've also recently seen the movie and I liked it. Although they did change some things in the movie that was different in the book, I still like the movie.

I have almost no knowledge of Greek stuff, but I still like the book. I was quite hard to understand with all these mythical creatures which I never heard of, but overall it was nice. I would have liked it better if I knew what the author was talking about  . I can't find The Battle of the Labyrinth anywhere :( The Titan's ended off with a huge cliff hanger, and I need to read the Battle of the Labyrinth! Hades also has a child (well, children, but one died :( )who could possibly the person the prophesy was talking about! Why can't I find that book anywhere! I need to wait until summer is over. When school starts, first thing i'll do is go to the school library and find The Battle of the Labyrinth :P

^ I would reply to the prophecy part but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.
I just read the Demi-God Files and it was pretty good. But there should be a 6th book because there's still a lot of things that I want to know about. Like what happened to all the Titans. I haven't read the Last Olympian in a while so I forgot a lot. I need to wait a few weeks to check it out from my school library.

I've seen the movie, but I didn't know it was a series of books.
I thought that the movie was pretty good, because I enjoy Greek mythology. I liked the scene where they cut off Medusa's head to use it as a weapon. It was very funny how it was set in modern times, yet paralleled many ancient myths.
The idea of his mind being "hardwired for ancient Greek," and this causing him to have dyslexia when reading English was priceless. I bet that will make a lot of kids with dyslexia feel better about themselves. :)
Though personally, I think that premise would make more sense if his mind had been wired for Chinese, since that has completely different characters and is read in columns from right to left. Greek has similar characters and is read in the same direction as English.
