I have a CD in the bank that matures on Friday. I'm going to take $300 of it and buy myself a Ps3 and redeposit the rest, of course. The next-gen consoles have been out for a long time now and each has their own set of nice exclusives. Unfortunately, this makes choosing my first game or maybe even my first two games extremely difficult.

I like FPS, RPGs, Action, Puzzle, and even some Racing. I never purchased Fallout 3 for my Xbox360, so I am very tempted to pick up the GOTY Edition. I'm also tempted to buy Oblivion again since I no longer have a PC that can handle it. I've had some suggestions for Uncharted 2. I've just never been a very big Sony fan, so I never kept up with its exclusives. Tell me what you think. I want to have the game picked out before I walk into the shop and have trouble picking a game with them all over the wall. If I already own it for the PC, Xbox360, or whatever, then it will be marked off the list.

EDIT BY SMITIE: You can post game recommendation questions and suggestions for every console in this thread, so you don't have to make seperate threads for every system

I donīt own a PS3 myself and I havenīt tried that many games on the console either. But still I think that you should consider the game Demonīs Souls! Thatīs the first game Iīll purchase when I get the console.

I would agree with Uncharted 2 but pick up Uncharted 1 first. 2 is the superior game, and going back to 1 afterwards will feel clumsy. It's still an outstanding title, but after playing 2, it's not as outstanding. It's also budget priced right now, which is great.

Batman Arkham Asylum is the reason why I bought my PS3. I loved the game through and through. It had an excellent chance of being game of the year this year it seems. It's action / platforming game in a way with a lot of great stealth moments. I don't know really how to describe it as such, but it's got elements of Metroid Prime, Assassin's Creed and the like.

My next purchase is going to be the Street Fighter 4 2nd edition (or whatever the title is -- the one that releases next spring). If you've played any of the old titles and liked them, you'll like this one. It's very similar though, so if you grew tired of the old titles, then don't pick this one up. Don't buy the current title though that's on the shelves now. The new version will have more content at a cheaper price.

I have heard great things about other titles, but haven't played them myself. They might be worth investigating though. They are Infamous, Little Big Planet and the Ratchet and Clank series. Again, I know nothing of them than people always highly reccomend them to me.

I always check IGN for their review scores. I know a lot of people think they are paid off by companies to review games, but that's not the truth at all. I have always agreed with their scores, or have found them under-rated. I have never found they've over-rated a game, and I've been following them since the N64. If a title is 8.0 to 8.5 or higher, it's a great game. Avoid anything under 7.0 I would say. Or just rent them in that range.

I have a friend at work who was talking to me about this game. I've heard very good things about it but I do not think its going to be long enough for me.

I actually played the Demo at a GameStop in my local shopping mall. The graphics were stunning, combos were great, etc. I just don't think it's a good pick for me.

My next purchase is going to be the Street Fighter 4 2nd edition (or whatever the title is -- the one that releases next spring). I'm not that big of a fan of fighters. I like Soul Calibur, SSB, and I've got DoA4 for the Xbox360, but it's not that great. I just find them very repetitive and I need a game that's going to keep me interested.

I have heard great things about other titles, but haven't played them myself. They might be worth investigating though. They are Infamous, Little Big Planet and the Ratchet and Clank series. Again, I know nothing of them than people always highly reccomend them to me.
I played the Ratchet series on the Ps2. Not a big fan. I looked into inFAMOUS and I don't think that's going to do it for me either. The sandbox engine is very nice. Jumping from building to building and things like that I love, but nothing compares to Crackdown.

I know I may be a little too picky, but unfortunately the money I usually spend on video games is going towards bills and things of that nature so I have to cut back. So I really want a game that I am going to be able to put a lot of hours into. Whether it be Multiplayer hours, Single player or both. I cant wait for FFXIV...

Dragon Age: Origins looks amazing. I just don't even know what to say about it. It's visually stunning, gory, and just awesome looking. I've heard nothing but good things about it (so far). I think this will be my first game I purchase for my Ps3, which I also might buy tomorrow depending on my paycheck.

to clearify, this thread is not about what games I should get, just in general
which games are a must-have for specific consoles.
I have a DS and a gamecube.

athenian200

Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door and Super Smash Bros. Melee are a must for the gamecube.

Some other games:
Sonic Heroes
Mario Kart Double Dash
Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventure

As for DS, I can really only say New Super Mario Bros, and the Mario and Luigi titles.

I also recommend Paper Mario, and you should also get Metroid Prime 2: Echoes (you should probably get 1 first, but this one is better IMO) and Animal Crossing (for both the DS and GC).

Ok so this thread is pretty simple, just post games for the GB or GBC that are worth mentioning, im sure you played a few good games for these old handheld systems. So share those gems with the rest of us =) I'll go first.

- Lufia The Legend Returns (an outstanding and under appreciated RPG)
- Resident Evil Gaiden (I didn't know GBC had res evil so I thought I'd mention it)
- Nanoloops Music Generator (for those of you who don't know chiptunes, this is what you need to know..)
- and Conker's Pocket Tales (one of the craziest games I've ever beat)

Master Kokiri 9

Also: Super Mario Bros. Deluxe
Super Mario Land
Super Mario Land 2
Wario Land: Super Mario World 3
Metroid 2 (Haven't played it, but I know its for GB)
Kirby Tilt n' Tumble (I found it annoying and extremely fustrating, but tilting the gameboy to move? in genious...)

Golden Sun and its sequel. Pretty much the only games I'll play on a portable system when I'm at home.

Those are GBA games not GB/C games... sorry but you should know the difference by now. Those games don't apply to this thread.
also I thought I would mention:

- Dragon Warrior 1 & 2, and 3
- Shantae
- Harvest Moon 1, 2, and 3
- Kid Icarus - Of Myths And Monsters
- and Survival Kids

First and foremost, Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2. The latter especially. I can not tell you how much I love that ancient game. An awesome map, cool "slot" machines that gave you new power ups, and carrots! Bunny Ears beat Capes any day of the year in my book. Plus, Wario was actually downright evil that game too.

Duck Tales, Duck Tales, Duck Tales. I am saying this mostly because I currently cannot find that game and remember how much I loved it. While looking I also stumbled across Donkey Kong Land 2, played a bit, it's good. Also DK Country 2 for GBA, also very good. I liked Mortal Kombat on GBA and actually liked the Banjo Kazooie game (Rare come back to Nintendo, everyone knows you've lost your touch since you left). There isn't much from my experience that I have played, because all my time was spent on Pokemon.

I can't believe I didn't say this earlier, but definitely Tetris. The awesome puzzle game now on a handheld. One of the best parts about it was if you went multiplayer. Player 1's pictures was Mario and Player 2's picture was Luigi. It also had some awesome music.

And here's another Mario title: Dr. Mario. I remember there being one on the gameboy.

Besides the obligatory pokemon mention, Donkey Kong and the original Super Mario Land, both for GB. I still have those and play them quite a bit.
I remember Game and Watch Gallery 3, that one was great, but I lost it a long time ago :(

i thought super mariod eluxe was soooo overrated, its good but people talk about it like its a completely different mario game to the original, yeah sure its more colourful and the you can move backwards but theres nothing new and dont see why everyone makes it out as though its worthy of calling it a different game.

anyway, metal gear solids is great on gbc, metroid 2 is (according to ratings) the worst metroid game ever made but still amazing.

Super Mario Land
Kirby's Dream Land
Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Land
Metroid II: the Return of Samus
LoZ: Link's Awakening
Tetris

metroid 2 is (according to ratings) the worst metroid game ever made but still amazing.
You sir have looked at the wrong ratings.
A)Metroid II is an excellent game, certainly better than the first
B)You didn't play or see a review of Metroid Prime Pinball, did you?

Okay, you must get Mario Kart Double dash for the gamecube and the rest of the Zelda titles for it.

DS:
Mario bros/kart
Harvest Moon
Proffessor Layton and the Curious village/Diabolical box
Animal Crossing Wild World
Scribblenauts
Drawn to life/next chapter
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/Heart Gold/Soul Silver
Spirit Tracks
Phantom Hourglass

Hero of Time

I recommend Monster Hunter Tri for Wii. It's kinda like Zelda but without temples :) You just get on different quests and kill huge monsters that are like bosses. And to help everyone's complaint about recent Zeldas, you can kill bosses however you want to.

Chibi Robo! for Gamecube. You're a 4inch tall robot, cleaning up a house. How awesome is that! seriously, get it. You won't regret it!

WarioWare: DIY is definitely a lot of fun. What's better than getting to make your own games? Not much.

This is all I can think of right this moment.

Gamecube

Animal Crossing (You don't wanna get the DS one because it'll bore you out within a week, which it did for me)
Wind Waker (Obviously!)
Twilight Princess (I would recommend the wii version, but if you have the wii, then go buy this awesome game!)
Mario Party 6 and 7 (I got these games when I got my Gamecube, and I'm still playing them for an odd reason)
Super Smash Brothers Meele (Get Brawl if you have a wii)

DS

Phantom Hourglass (Beat it once, beat it again, repeat until about 20th time)
Spirit Tracks (same as above, but appreciate it more. Nintendo worked hard on this one!)
Harvest Moon Sunshine Islands (Seriously, get it, it's wayyyy better than Island of Happiness, in my opinion)
Rune Factory 2 (I like 2 and 3 better than 1, but it's fighting and Harvest Moon all rolled into one, get Rune Factory 3 once it's out in English, I played it in Japanese, wait... I'm still playing it... but anyways, it's so awesome, you can transform into a monster, how cool is that?)
Professor Layton 1 and 2 (Get both, play both, play both of them one more time, await the release of Layton Number 3)

Phantom Zelda

Ok, for ds the pokemon games are pretty fun and of course the zelda games. For gamecube get metroid prime 1.

wow, lots of great games, but im surprised that that no one has mentioned this one,
ETERNAL DARKNESS: SANITY'S REQUIEM
this is quite possibly the best gamecube game ive ever played. its a fairly simple game, but the story is incredibly indepth. Plus epic dialouge, my favrite quote, "I am the scourge of God, appointed to chastise you, since no one knows the remedy for your iniquity except me. You are wicked, but I am more wicked than you." as the main villian is tossing prisoners into the foundations of a tower, what a badass.

Also the funnest and most innovative feature EVER, the sanity meter, as it goes down your character goes insane, and so do you; you start to hallucinate, the television turns off, phantom enemies, your characters weapon misfires and you commit suicide. And countless other efects

BUY THIS GAME, YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!!!!!!

CUCCOMASTER
06-28-2010, 04:16 PM
if you get CoD, get world at war. it has wifi and i think its the best. dont get modern warfare. there is no wifi, just some dumb downloadable play with only two courses. and also get need for speed carbon. best illegal street racing game ever. extremely fast cop chases, up to 200 mph or more. at night. i love going up to the cops and bashing them against the side. the car flips over and get killed. lol. you will see it happen in the begining, and it may seem impossible to do but i've done it. its not just another racing game. you can buy and sell sweet cars, edit them and paint them any way you want. love it so much i didn't sell it when i sold my gamecube. lol, and you can own up to 7 cars at once. there are 4 bosses that you have to race for their territory. if yoy beat them, you can get their cars

I'll be taking notes from this thread myself... my collection is seriously lacking.

I have a gamecube, but own only two games for it: Wind Waker and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. The latter is the reason I bought the gamecube, if that tells you anything about how awesome it is.

For the DS: I've been playing Ace Attorney stuff obsessively lately. You should really start with the first one (Phoenix Wright), because they kind of follow an order. (Though the Miles Edgeworth game isn't really part of the timeline, so it doesn't matter when you play that one.)

Probably the number 1 game I would have to recommend for any RPG fans, because Its not a very popular game, is Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean for the Gamecube. Amazing story, music, and beautiful graphics. Also has a pretty unique card battle system.

This thread has been dead for a few months SO I WILL BRING IT BACK FROM THE GRAVE!

My favorite GB/C games (that i can think of right now):
Link's Awakening OF COURSE
Teh Pokemons
Wario Land 3 - which is way different from the others. So much harder and puzzles are crazy difficult.
DK Land 3 (I haven't played 1 or 2)
I have a really old racing game for GB called RC RACER! You get to customize your and it's p cool.
Mario Golf AND Mario Tennis
ok I'm gonna go ahead say that there are like mastery of the GBC system. I recently replayed them and I couldn't put them down! I HAD to beat Mario. The difficulty is up there and the game play was pretty sweet (esp Tennis).

So ya I'm might remember some later, but those are all pretty much my favorites.

Well, let's see.

All of the Pokemon games that were on GB/C as well as Golden Sun. I absolutely loved the Golden Sun games, they were great in every single way. The only other games I can think of are ones that weren't originally on the GB/C. Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland was pretty good, though.

I'm thinking of either getting a PS3 or Xbox 360 (But leaning more towards a PS3). I'm interested in the GTA Series, Red Dead Redemption, Just Cause, Little Big Planet, the Final Fantasy Series and The Last Guardian (once I see more of it). I do NOT want Halo, CoD or GoW or any first person shooters. I know the PS3 and Xbox 360 are less kid-friendly but are there any games that you would reccomend from the list of games I'm interested in? Or any games similar to Zelda, Mario or DK? (I know there's not much of these style games though). You can also persuade me into getting an Xbox instead if you want.

GTA..... huh. I hate it but that's me. Red Dead is well..... kickbutt game. Just Cause 2 is freaking awesome. Both it and Red Dead Redemption are awesome open world games. Red Dead is awesome online. This. The only issue is that it is a FPS, but it does incorporate RPG elements as well as making you think tactically. If you're deadset against any FPS don't bother with it, but if you're feeling adventurous I highly recommend it. 3D Dot Game Heroes, as Ember Incubus has stated, is said to have very similar gameplay to the early Zelda games, but from the reviews I've read it isn't supposed to be that great. You may want to give Oblivion a shot as well. Other than a similar setting and fantasy feel, it doesn't have much in common with Zelda, but it is an excellent and deep game. If you're an RPG fan, you'll love it. You can get hundreds of hours of gameplay out of it, literally. I've also heard very good things about Heavy Rain, though I have yet to play it myself.

I bought a PS2 a while ago, but I've run out of games to play for it. With that, I want to know what you guys recommend for the PS2. For reference, below are my current library of PS2 games (as well as games I'm tracking down) and the games I don't want/can't get.

My Current PS2 Library (with games I'm hunting):

Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts II
Final Fantasy X (defective, unfortunately)
Final Fantasy X-2
Final Fantasy XII
Okami (tracking it down, but having a hard time doing so)

Games I'll Need Convincing on:

Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories (I see no reason to buy it if I've already got it for GBA which I can play anywhere)

First Person Shooters in General (I'm not a big fan of FPS's to be honest, they're just not my cup of tea [but I do make an exception for the Metroid Prime Saga, but they're really more of Action Adventure Games like the 2D ones but in First Person])

M Rated Games (I'm fourteen, I can't get M rated games legally, I don't emulate, and I highly doubt my Mom would let me play M rated games four years earlier than I'm legally allowed to)

So with that, what are your recommendations?

Well, I'd recommend the Sly Cooper games. They're pretty fun. You're a thieve in it. :3

And I'd also recommend any Dance Dance Revolution games, but...yeah. I'm just too big of a fan for those. xD

Dark Cloud 2. This is an awesome game. I have yet to beat it though because of the final boss. But anyway...

Yeah, Dark Cloud 2 is kinda like OoT where you play two different characters who have to travel both from the present to the future (and back again) in order to restore certain points in history that the bad guy has destroyed (can't remember his name for the life of me). Also as they're restoring those points, they must find a way to travel to the past since that's there were the bad guy is.

It's also a RPG-like game. As for the rating of it, it's rated 'T'. It has a little bit of language in it, but other than that I think it's okay.

Also I would say that you could get the first game to this which is 'Dark Cloud', but of course I haven't played it myself but I really want to. I've heard that it's good.

OK, let's see. Ehem.

Final Fantasy X that works - Self explanatory (it's my favourite FF of all time)

Time Splitters: Future Perfect - A very fun and feature packed FPS. It's got a great nice and long story mode, that is perfect for multiplayer, a very robust multiplayer mode with many different types of modes, a map editor, and even online play if you can hook your PS2 up to the Internet.

Shadow of the Colossus: A very interesting and exciting action/adventure game. It's actually quite a bit like Zelda. The combat is interesting and the story is even more mysterious. You fight giant monsters. Pretty sell explanatory.

Persona 3: FES - I better not have to explain this one.

Destroy All Humans 2 - An open and fun sandbox game with a good main story, a nice multiplayer and lots of killing and explosions.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 - A fun multiplayer shooter with a good story, lots of good multiplayer modes, and even some fun online. (Get the PC version)

Hope that helped.

Well, I don't have many games yet for the PS2 myself, however I have plenty of PS1 games, and since the PS2 is backwards compatible I might list some PS1 games. :P

PS2 games

- Shadow of the Colossus
I've played this game, and I have to say, it's really quite good! The goal of the game is to defeat the 16 colossi to bring your love back to life. I won't say anymore though.

- Ico
I haven't played this yet, though it's made by the same studio that made Shadow of the Colossus, and is supposed to be very good.

Most of the PS2 games you already have on your list are the only PS2 games I've played yet, so here are my PS1 recommendations.

PS1 games

- Chrono Cross
Sequel to Chrono Trigger, I thought it was an excellent game. (I actually liked it more than CT, but that might be because I played this first.) If you haven't played Chrono Trigger yet, there is a PS1 version and a DS version in addition to the original SNES version.

- Brave Fencer Musashi
Sort of a spoof of JRPGs, a lighthearted adventure with some laughs along the way. I really enjoyed this, and the battle system vaguely reminded me of zelda. (You fight with swords, and it's not turn-based.)

- Final Fantasy Tactics
Alot of people say the story was great, however I found it rather convoluted toward the end. Besides that, the battle system is awesome, and so is the music.

- Digimon World 3
This game was actually pretty fun, it reminded me of pokemon, but as far as I remember you don't catch digimon at all and you stick with the ones you get. I never got far because I just put it down one day and I have yet to pick it up again. There was an extremely addicting card mini game that goes on throughout the game.

That’s all I can think of right now that I've played, besides Ico. :)

- Brave Fencer Musashi
I thought this game was pretty fun, and it has some spoofing of JRPGs in it. The gameplay sort of reminded me of zelda, because you use swords and it isn't turn-based, but beyond that it isn't too similar. Good game.

- Chrono Cross
This game is the sequel to Chrono Trigger, so if you haven't played Chrono Trigger you might want to play that first. It's a very good game, one of my favorite RPGs. I liked it even more than Chrono Trigger, but you could say that's because I played this first. Chrono Trigger has a PS1 version, a DS version and a SNES version.

- Final Fantasy Tactics
The gameplay is really fun in this game. It's turn-based strategy FF style. The music is excellent as well, however a lot of people seemed to think the storyline was great too. Personally I found it sort of convoluted, but it could be just me.

- Digimon World 3
This game reminds me of pokemon, except that as far as I remember you don't 'catch' any digimon in this game. It was pretty fun, though I never finished it for some reason. There is a really fun card game/mini game in this game too.

Do any of those RPGs have the pokemon-type battle system?

SuperSilly
08-03-2010, 11:53 PM
I honestly haven't played pokemon, (Except for like 5 minutes when I was little) so I'm not quite sure if I can compare games to pokemon correctly.

*Hangs head in shame*

However I do think that Digimon World 3 has a similar battle system to pokemon, as it is turn based and you fight with your digimon and can level them up. You don't catch digimom though.

Other than that, I do know that Chrono Cross is a turn based RPG similar to Final Fantasy, and I like to think of Final Fantasy Tactics battles as sort of like a board game like chess, except much easier. The closest thing I can relate Brave Fencer Musashi to is Zelda, though they aren't exactly the same.

I have also heard of a good game which is supposed to be very similar to pokemon called Azure Dreams for the PS1. In it you go monster hunting inside a tower with 40 floors. You tame monsters to fight for you, I believe. I personally haven't played it though.

I'd actually recommend the Wii version of Okami. It doesn't have quite the same neat paper look to it, but the drawing is much easier. Also, the Wii version is still in retail, which is a bonus.

Sly Cooper games are awesome and are fun to play.
For a first person game, my friend plays this game called SOCOM for PS2, you should try it out ( i also heard there is going to be a new one for PS3)
If you get the cance to play rated M games, try out Grand Thief Auto (but do not get Grand Thief Auto 2, it sucks)
I'm not sure if you should get KHCoM.
Need for Speed games are pretty fun (i recommend, Need For Speed Undercover).
Guitar Hero is fun, but it gets pretty boring after awhile, i would recommend it if you like rock.
Tony Hawk games are fun, i would recommend those.

yea pretty much those games are fun, but theres probably plenty more that are fun.

Phlegm

Guitar Hero 2. Like what MoblinPiglet said, it can get boring, but it's fun to just pick it up and play a song or two.

Ratchet and Clank 1 and 3. There not exactly first person shooters, but they're third person.
They also have a bit of collecting...

I purchased a 360 a couple of weeks ago, and bought CoD : Modern Warfare 2. Its a good game if you are into first person shooters. I personally am not a fan of first person shooters but this one was a plesant suprise I really do like it. I am definatly not going to tell you to buy a PS3, I don't like them anyway.

Actually even though there are not very many new games out yet for the classic Nintendo line up (Zelda, DK, Kirby, etc.) with the exception of Mario I still think the Wii is the best console on the market. Thats just me (im a Nintendo fanboy and proud) enjoy your new 360.

Here are some other games I recommend:

-Metal Gear Solid 2
-Metal Gear Solid 3
-Kingdom Hearts
-Kingdom Hearts 2
-God of War
-Grand Theft Auto 3
-Grand Theft Auto Vice City
-Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
-Shadow of the Colossus
-Timesplitters 2 (plays just like Goldeneye, and it's by the same developer team)
-Beyond Good and Evil (Love it)
-Legacy of Kain series
-Mafia

If you like music games:
-Frequency (Music game, by the makers of Guitar Hero/Rock Band)
-Amplitude (sequel to Frequency)

If you like fighting games:
-Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (if you could find it)

Kidding. I was actually excited about this topic when I read the title. The whole non M rated thing definitely killed the buzz, though. Sadly, it leaves me with no suggestions. For virtual console, there are a lot of really good games. If you're looking for some old school, non-Zelda related games, I'd say go with Shining Force and Shining Force 2. They're classic tactical RPG's from the Sega Genesis. But if you're not into that, then there's always like Final Fantasy or something, though that original game is TOUGH.

For me I recommend Blur if your into racing games with power ups, not random like Mario Kart power ups either. BUT I only recommend it for the online experience. there is so much randomness and good races to be had there. Also wait for Fable 3, Fable 2 is good but it disappointed me more than once, and 3 is looking to shape up nicely. GTA IV is pretty good, nothing like going around shooting random people and stealing cars, and the story isn't half bad. And if you are into Guitar Hero or Rock Band get them. So much DLC to be gotten in RB and GH is pretty much the standard I suppose, though I prefer Rock Band.

Everyone that has posted has covered the basics. One game that I do not see is Crackdown. I never got to play the second one because I no longer have a Xbox 36, but I definitely recommend the first one. It is a sandbox styled game and as you progress with your genetically enhanced police officer you get better weapons which your character will also begin to handle better, your character gets stronger and is eventually able to lift and throw vehicles and other large object, your agility increases and you can run incredibly fast and jump quite high, and you also unlock vehicle upgrades. Was a very fun game, IMO. I am not sure how much different the second one is though.

my only real recommendation is Blue Dragon. it's a lengthy, story-heavy, entertaining, and unique fantasy RPG. this game is 3 discs long and every minute of it is enjoyable. it has a great story and cool characters along with interesting locations and enemies. as far as RPGs go, this is probably one of the best on the 360.i was surprised by how good it is and the score i give it is 9.5/10. if you like RPGs, this one is a must.

Building on what DuckNoises said, I definitely would recommend a Metroid game. Not really the original NES game; I just found it way too hard to truly enjoy, plus there's really not that much to it when it comes to other elements that make up a game, like graphics and story. Super Metroid fixes this, which is why I call it my favorite SNES game of all time. Much better graphics than it's NES brother, and the story sets the stage for games that have been coming out recently, like Fusion and the not-even-released-yet Other M.

For the VC, I highly reccomend the F-Zero game for the N64. Me, my brother, my mom and uncle have had a LOT of fun playing that game. If you enjoy New Super Mario Bros, you'll probably also enjoy Super Mario Bros 3, which is highly addicting.

For WiiWare, there really hasn't been much that has interested me other than World of Goo. At first, it looks simple but it becomes difficult and complex. I've only played the computer version but I'm guessing it's basically the same. Diner Dash is great too.

jugglaj91

I too have to go with 3D Dot Game Heroes, I played it and I loved every minute of it. GTA IV is a good game to go with as well. Red Dead is similar to GTA from what I have heard, just set in the old west.

With console choice it is up to preference. PS3 is free to play online which is always a plus, you get a Blu-Ray player, and access to so many good PS1 titles for 10 bucks!!! It's insane, it may not do everything, but it is damn close. I plan on getting one of these asap.

360 you pay as little as 50 USD a year, or as much as 96 if you go with the month by month option. Some people swear by Live to be better but I have heard they are about even. As much as I love my 360 I can't really see any reason to try to persuade you out of it except for games like Fable 3 which will be a 360 exclusive, or if you plan on playing online a lot with some not so great Live Gold perks.

Well, Im a classic gamer, therefore I recommend most games on the VC, yet I don't, I don't think downloading games is ALL that reliable, if your Wii or SD card phucks up you won't be able to recover your games, if anything I say buy the ACTUAL games on their RESPECTIVE consoles, there are retro stores or just game shops that sell them and then there's always Ebay.

As for WiiWare, I don't know that much: Here are some I played: Mega Man 9 and 10, World of Goo, and Pokemon Rumble (Demo) those are pretty decent, except Pokemon Rumble, that's a little too easy and repetitive, I mean,my little 5 year old brother kicks @$$ at it...

That is all.

Thanks everyone! I just got my PS3 two days ago for my birthday! I got Little Big Planet, Red Dead Redemption and Final Fantasy XIII. I LOVE Little Big Planet and Red Dead but I'm not so sure about FF XIII.. I'm so confused. I'm not too far in and the combat system and story already have me confused. Hopefully I figure it out soon.. The cinematics and music are incredible though. I plan on getting Just Cause 2 and GTA IV soon and I'm thinking I might pick up 3D Dot Heroes and Heavy Rain. Oblivion looks interesting too.

Oblivion is a fun first-person WRPG but it lacks heavily in the story department. You're free to do as you please, however. Red Dead Redemption is far more inspired that GTA4, so if you're going to get a game by Rock Star, get Red Dead.

Metal Gear Solid 4 and Heavy Rain are both great cinematic experiences, but if you had to choose one I'd go with Heavy Rain because the story telling is fantastic.

If you're strapped for cash there are several good PS3 games for only $20 including Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, and GTA4.
