this isn't entirely zelda related but there is a TV show called "legend of the seeker"...i was just introduced to it last night b/c i saw an ad for it on television and i thought to myself "hmmm this looks a bit familiar" so i found some free episodes on the net.....this show is awesome and i can totally say that it does have a zelda "feel" to it (or maybe b/c i'm obsessed with zelda therefore finding zelda themes in EVERYTHING)....but i don't want to spoil it....so check it out for yourselves if it's unfamiliar....i've missed alot as it's already on it's second season!
i've only seen the first episode s of last night:

I watch this show too, and they're somewhere in the second season. Shortly after watching a few episodes of the first season, I decided to pick up the books. Now I'm on the eighth book in the series and wow do they mess things up in the show. 75% of the stuff in the show is not in the books.
Overall I'd say it's not a bad show, and it's well written but if I had a couple of complaints, I'd say they don't follow the books close enough, and there's way too much sexual content.

I read the books first and then attempted to watch the show. I honestly turned it off before the first episode was finished. They completely ruined the story! It's disappointing, since it had so much potential.

Enjoy it :) I'm sure it might be an interesting show if I had not read the books before.

Hm, I'm surprised to find another person who has read the books. I thought my uncle and I were the only ones. It really is a good series of books, isn't it? I'm on the eighth one right now.
But yeah, NiaSoPurdy, since you haven't read the books, I'm sure the show will be great for you, and you won't know the difference. Kind of like when people watched the Eragon movie. *shudders*

Yes, the book series is great! I think I got through the eighth one and ran out of books in my grasp. It was a decent ending spot for me.

I have watched a few episodes of the show. The first things I noticed is that I think the dialogue is poorly written. I did notice the same Zelda themes, which I liked. It was hard to get past the dialogue and cheesiness of it at times.
The book series sounds interesting though. I might have to check it out.

Just know that once you've read the book series, there's no going back. You won't like the show nearly as much once you've read the books. You can only like one of the two. :) But yeah, I'd encourage reading the series, it's very good.

I never really do that with movies or films based of books. I realize they are their own medium and everyone will take their own liberties in the process of making the film or show. Books can't transfer to visual media very easy I find. I look at them as separate bodies of work.
But I'm already not too impressed with the show.
