This is just another story I was planning awhile back. No, this one wont require any sign ups, I simply decided to write something random. If you still want to be in it though, pm me or something, I could probably work something out. Oh, and this one has Rad in it as well, but it has nothing to do with Dragirs nor with my other story. This is a brand new story, regardless of what you may think. It will focus mainly on delivering shorter chapters/posts such as this one for quick reading. I also give it a PG-13 Rating for intense action, violence, gore and special effects lol. Feel free to comment, give feedback, I am willing to improve on my writing. ;)

The Pirate

Prologue

Diamond Steepe Island, five years before the Ganon Threat

He worked his blades expertly and in harmony as an experienced painter would have worked the brush on a piece of canvas. One of the silver curved blades scored a critical hit on the moblin's left lung, puncturing it. Meanwhile, at the same time, the other silver blade took a leg from the monster, a two-critical hit combo. Down went the moblin and the last of the group that had come after the uninvited guest moments ago.

"I wonder why they disappear after they are killed," Rad told himself as he put his twin blades back in their respective silvery scabbards. Rad was short in stature, had an athletic type of body and had brown, parted-to-the-sides hair. He was dressed as a typical warrior did, with a fancy dark shirt, black pants and dark boots. He was just eighteen years of age but had already made a name for himself as an explorer, warrior, and tomb raider of sorts.

The young man dismissed the thought and glanced around the island then, noticing that there were trees and heavy brush all around. The sun shone brightly above and the wind was blowing slowly, carrying a warmth sensation along, a clue to the warrior that summer was still going strong despite the fall season approaching fast.

Rad took heart as he noticed that on the island's ground there was even life to be found. An army of black ants moved about, some carrying food while others just went and came. Holding a smile, Rad knew this place would do for a home. Diamond Steppe Island reminded him of the Forest Haven, which was a massive island located to the east of his location and a place where he had been many times before.

Rad knew he would need to clean out the island from the remaining monsters that inhabited it. To take care of that task, he would need to explore it fully. Just then, as he was about to set out to do just that, he suddenly thought he heard a distanced scream coming from behind him. He spun in a flash, a curved blade already in his hand and ready for action.

There was a mighty ship approaching in the distance, a pirate ship to be exact, he noticed, for the ship was not hiding the fact that it was a pirate vessel, it's black flag flapped with the wind and it showed a nasty skull and crossbones, which was the signature of pirates to identify themselves.

"Oh no," Rad lamented. "It seems that I will never be left alone."

He put the sword back in its place and decided to head to the edge of the island, knowing as he walked there that the ship's crew were probably spying on him through the use of a spyglass. Rad carried one himself inside a leathery satchel that hung at the left side near one of the scabbards. He opened the satchel and brought the spyglass out. He elongated it and then used it to take a view of the ship.

He was not able to see the deck clearly, for the tip of the ship got in the way, however, he did manage to see a lone figure standing right above that tip. He noticed that it was a small, blondish haired young woman who wore white pants and a blue vest over a pinkish blouse. She too, was probably staring at him through her spyglass.

"Tetra?" Rad asked himself, lowering the spyglass as he had easily made out the pirate. So it was Tetra and her mighty crew. He had heard of them, they mostly worked the northern waters in their lucrative business. They assaulted merchants and robbed them clean, and they also raided a town every once in a while. Now Tetra was just said to be a twelve year old child, but the pirates she commanded were the ones who did most of the work.

Rad glanced back at the ship through the use of the spyglass and noticed that Tetra--for indeed it was that little she-devil--had turned her head over her shoulder and was probably issuing orders to her crew.

"This is not good," Rad told himself, shortening the spyglass back to its original size and putting it back in the satchel. He glanced at the inside of his supply bag and noticed that he had a few magic embedded crystals there. He would probably have to use them all if the pirates meant to strike him. Now a days, everyone around the continent seemed to want to have a go at him.

It's not bad. You make very few grammatical errors. I wonder how he recognized Tetra that easily, having only "heard" of her before.

Must of been that the rumors about Tetra were that she was just a small girl, blonde and usually wore that outfit? She fits the rumor descriptions. lol
Anyway, thanks, I appreciate the feedback.

Chapter 1

Meeting The Pirate Lass

The ship dropped anchor about thirty yards out from the island. Rad, who had taken the liberty to walk back to where he had left his small boat near the island's edge, noticed that a large row-boat was lowered from the ship, this one filled with part of the crew, Tetra the child among them.

Rad relaxed a bit, but not that much. He did not know whether the pirates had something good or evil planned. Whatever the case, he was ready to confront them. He decided to wait for their arrival near his boat. If he had to tuck tail and run, he'd make sure his boat was nearby in order to do so.

When the rowboat approached and he could tell the faces of the pirates, there was no doubt now that it was indeed Tetra and her crew. Rad also recognized the fitting description of a few pirates that the rumors had spoken of.

Rad glanced at them with arms crossed over his chest as he stood a few feet away from the waves that reached the island's land. The pirates made the edge of the island and quickly got out from the boat, Rad noticing that with weapons drawn out.

The last to come off the boat was the child herself, the pirates surrounded her in a protective way, although she shoved the ones in the front aside as she said in her melodic childish voice, "Don't cover my view, you fools."

Rad got a kick out of that and almost blurted out laughing, but didn't.. It was not in his best interest to have done so, not when a beautiful girl was surrounded by six mean-looking dastards.

"Nice day," Tetra said as she finally stood ten feet away. She had ordered her crew to stop as well, they did, but holding a defensive position.

"Agreed," Rad said, glancing briefly at the sky then back at them. "It is a beautiful day."

"Are you Rad Manthys?"

"Yes," nodded the warrior, a kind smile holding firmly on his face. His eyes bore into the small girl's, just to assure her that he was no one to mess with.

Tetra stirred, glanced at her crew, noticing that a few of them seemed more than eager to fight. Was that the reason why the warrior had looked upon her with that intense stare? "Oh, lower your weapons, you fools, for the love of Hyrule!"

Rad did not flinch, not even un-crossed his arms, he kept staring intently. Tetra's eyes found their way to his again, and a wide smile spread across her childish face, an attempt to ease the warrior.

"We come here seeking no fight," she said. "I am Tetra, perhaps you've heard of me?"

"I've heard quite a bit," Rad said, easing his stare when he noticed the small runt dared to approach him. She was unarmed, or appeared to be at least. A brave move from her part.

"And?" she stopped at least four feet away from him.

"And what?" Rad glanced upon the child's beautiful face. She had eyes as blue as the sea itself. Her whitish skin was beginning to show a tan, probably because of the many days spent out when the sun was about. Rad's own skin was tanned, for the raider had found himself out and about on many occasions.

"What have you heard of me? Is it good or bad rumors?"

"A little of both," Rad nodded. "I heard your caretaker died a few months ago and that you have been left to continue in his stead, to continue the legacy of the feared Black Pirates."

Tetra lowered her eyes to the ground, a sad feeling washing over her. It was true, her long time guardian, a sweet and tender man who she had called father, was dead.

Rad noticed that the child had been hurt at the expense of his words. The warrior felt pity for her then, she was just a child left alone with a group of pirates.

"The rumors are true...for once," she said, glancing back at him.

Rad smiled, then laughed a bit. "So, you know of my name, Tetra. Is there something I could help you with?"

Tetra nodded right away. "We know of your name, of course," she said in an astonished kind of way, almost as if she wanted the warrior to know that she felt amazed of it. "And your deeds, your adventures. People claim you are on your way to become the hero of old reborn."

Rad, knowing the ancient stories all too well, laughed aloud. "You kidding me? People say that of me?"

Tetra nodded, smiling shyly.

"Oh, but I am a simple warrior. I do my dungeon raiding here and there, I like cleaning the islands of monsters and I do like to help those in need. Of course, along the way comes trouble now and then, and so sometimes my blades have to do the work instead of me. Nay, I am no hero, nor will ever be. My interest is in seeking treasure, to be honest. That is why I sailed here, I've never been much on these southwest parts, I do wish to explore."

Tetra nodded, understandingly. "I see. Well...I came looking for you because I have a request to make."

"A request, young one?" Rad was surprised. "If it's to hire me for a seek-and-beat-up job, I think I am done beating up other people. I still have my issues with monsters, but hurting people has come to an end in my agenda. I wish to atone for past occurrences, see?"

Tetra felt that was something genuine of a hero. "Well no, I...it's not those services I was after, rather...I've been seeking you to offer you another kind of job."

"Oh really?" Rad un-crossed his arms and used one hand to scratch his head, the heat of the sun had probably made it itch. "What kind of job, young one?"

"You can call me Tetra," she said, her voice vivid and friendly. Rad did not dismiss the sound of it, he began to lower his guard and become relaxed more than he had been. "After all, that is my name. The job I am here to offer you consists of several things. One is that if you accepted, you'd have to come aboard my ship and become part of my crew."

Rad just glanced at her but said nothing. He placed his hands on his hips, grabbing at the inside of his belt.

"Should you agree to that, then you would be able to take care of the job I am here to offer you. It's not only me, but my long gone father wanted this. He left a written journal saying that I should seek out the most notable man around. You fit the bill. My dear old guardian thought that if one day he was not around, someone else might have to take over the task of looking after me."

Rad nodded, reminiscing at the information. So what Tetra wanted for him was to serve as some sort of bodyguard or fatherly figure for her. Rad believed that Tetra's guardian meant the former, not the latter.

Rad pondered on all the possible gains he could make if he agreed to the child's terms. There was a bad side that nagged at him, though, and that was simply that he would be joining with pirates should he accept the job.

Rad had hated pirates ever since he had come to know of the troubles and sorrow they caused. But seeing that young girl in front of him sort of moved his heart. What was a child doing among dastards?

Rad stared away from Tetra and her crew and glanced away to the sea then at the sky. Had the gods smiled upon him and presented him with an opportunity to atone for his past? Would he, by agreeing to take the job of looking out after young Tetra, atone for his wrong doings? Would he protect her from some sort of danger in the future, a danger that perhaps would claim his life?

Rad sighed, not knowing what to make of it all. His eyes stared back at the island of Diamond Steepe, where he had thought to settle down and make it his home for a long time to come.

"It is getting late, Rad," Tetra almost whispered. "Clouds are gathering to the south, we still have to sail through there and I sure would hate for a storm to catch us on the way...so time is of the essence. Can you at least give us a response now?"

Rad coughed, but he detained his answer just a bit longer. He set his brown eyes on those beautiful blue eyes of the girl. He needed to look deep at her before making his decision, he thought.

Chapter 2

Sealing the Deal

A mild wind blew as Rad considered the young girl's offer. He had been eyeing her well, then at her crew, who stared right back at him, Rad noticing that some of them rather blunt.

Rad felt unsure of what to say. For one thing, he had never hung out with pirates, let alone with any type of clan that dedicated itself to hurting others or doing things that were morally wrong. He felt like an idiot when a thought invaded his head. How many people had he--Rad--hurt while under the service of similar people? That had made Rad an evil person, and he felt bad just by remembering how many people he had hurt.

But he wanted to change, that was the main reason that had brought him to Diamond Steepe Island. He had wanted to settle down and live in peace away from the rest of the world. It was not to be, apparently. And, Rad nodded when he thought that perhaps he could change his ways by accepting the simple task that the young child was offering him. In taking care of the lass, Rad believed that he would find peace and while performing his task, perhaps he could also attempt to make the girl change her ways and grow to be someone special, someone better than a dirty low-life pirate. Yes, Rad closed his eyes. That was the road to follow here.

He scratched his chin and then simply said in a quiet voice, "Sure, I will go with you, young one."

Tetra, surprised by the response, almost gasped in happiness. "Are--Are you sure? There is no turning back once you board that ship, so have you thought it well?"

"I have," Rad walked toward her, hands near his weapons though. He extended his right hand in a saluting way. He wanted to seal the deal with Tetra there. She glanced at the warrior's hand, noticing a few scars on it. She shook it with her very own delicate hand.

"We have a deal then," Tetra smiled, pleased that she had managed to convince the warrior, that man that was highly spoken of.

"Yes, but I'll have you explain to me what all my tasks will be, but you can do that once we are on the ship. Let us go, as you have said, clouds are sure gathering to the south, it looks like it will get nasty."

"Then by all means, let us be gone from this place." Turning around to face her crew, she added, "Boys, let us return to the ship, our business is done here."

"Yes, right away, Captain." one of them said, the largest of the group.

When the little lifeboat found its way back to the ship, Rad was among the crew, still feeling awkward. Had he made the right decision? Or had he just made a move that would take him to where more suffering and sorrow awaited, and definitely more hurting and killing others.

I know you wanted feedback so her goes. With the first sentencei would say that there should be a subject for the second part, or change blunt to bluntly. I wasn't sure what is blunt. And the second one, It doesn't bother me, but I don't think inserting his name is necessary, it is obvious that you are talking about Rad.
These are just my suggestions, but I don't think either of them are really an issue.
It is turning out really well Xel! I like it so far. :)
