((Well, here is the opening for the story, the introduction if you will. I guess I will go ahead and give this story a pg-13 rating, as it will definitely have violence sequences, some gory action and a few bad words. So read at your own discretion. Oh yes, I almost forgot, I am human, so please excuse any mistakes you might find. ^^
I am also open to feedback, as it will definitely help me get better with my writing.

Ascendancy of the Last

Prologue

Forsaken Fortress, a month after a nearby raid on Wind Fall Island

He sat against the moistened wall of his cell, close to the right side corner, with his butt touching the hardened, cold floor and his legs fully stretched out. His hands were tied together tightly with a fat piece of rope, but to the front side, not the back. The cell block where he was held was musty and held many assorted bad odors, smells that could make any prisoner sick in an instant. Those smells had made the current prisoner puke countless of times.

The cell was also mostly darkened, with no lighting whatsoever to kill the darkness during the nights. Only the light of the moon which shone through the barred windows of the cells, was the only supply of light that the prisoners counted on, and that supply was short lived, as rumors said that around the island was a powerful spell that kept the light away. Still, with the few rays of moonlight that made it through, Rad Manthys felt grateful, for not all was darkness.

That spot where he sat at the moment had become his favorite spot ever since he had been brought to the cell three weeks ago. He had been tossed into the cell by two brutish Furrions and he had not been fed anything since the night of the raid. As to drink, he had been given dosages of a beverage that tasted more like vinegar. Rad had been counting the days ever since he had arrived. Thirty days had passed, and thirty nights as well, seven of those days and nights he had spent aboard one of the mighty ships. But after those seven days had gone by, he had been brought into a forte-like place, with his eyes fully covered and his mouth as well. The handkerchiefs that had been used to cover his eyes and mouth had been removed once he had been thrown into a cell. The guards had come by to the cell block three other instances every one week that passed, and had taken other prisoners out of the block. No food had been brought to the other prisoners, just that sour-like drink, which Rad had spat out mostly than drinking it.

At the moment, the 21-year old felt so hungry that he thought he could eat an entire shark. He felt as thirsty as ever that he thought he could well drink a bucket of salty, sea water if his captors would but bring it to him.

It was late in the night, probably around eleven in the evening, according to his calculations. Two rays of light shone through the barred window. He knew he was the last of the prisoners, for no voices from the others came any longer...he was alone, and he was sure to follow whatever fate those others before him had followed.

Knowing that he had to conserve his energy, Rad had not spoken a word in a long time. He felt weak, and because of his current state, Rad thought that he would indeed die in this place. He would never get to find out if his family was alright, if they had survived that wild night...nor would he ever get to see those beautiful dark brown eyes of his girlfriend.

Only a few other thoughts assaulted his mind during those dark moments, moments that Rad believed to be the last of his short lived life. Rad could only wonder if his family back in Wind Fall Island was okay. Also, his dear friends, those that had not perished during the raid and those that had not been brought here along with him. And what about his girlfriend, a young lady who he had met a year ago, how was she doing? Was she even alive?

Aside from those thoughts, Rad only dreamed of obtaining the tiniest opportunity so that he could escape this forsaken place and make those responsible for all his misfortunes--and that of many others--pay.

He was about to fall asleep, thinking that this night would pass like the others had, with no real occurrences. Suddenly, he was aroused abruptly when he heard a metallic door screeching hard as it swung open. He straightened in his position, knowing that the guards were finally coming. He could hear their raspy voices as they approached through the corridor, laughter distinguishable in their talk. Weak and humiliated as he was, Rad would not give them the satisfaction of letting them see how weak and miserable he really felt at that time. The two furrions who had thrown him in the cell fourteen days ago appeared shortly, both heavily armed and well armored with darknut-like silvery armor and fat, heavy swords within their scabbards that hung at the side of their hips.

"I don't know where the boss gets this rubbish, Locke," one of them said as they stood towering at the other end of the cell, definitely staring at the prisoner before them. "To believe that this fool here is a Dragir...She must be mad. This fool is nothing but a rich boy."

Rad, weakened and unable to say anything, simply eyed them from within the darkness that enveloped him, darkness that had been like his dear companion and blanket throughout those cold nights that he had endured in his captivity. They were huge to him, the Furrions actually being the two tallest ones he had ever seen! Furrions were lengthy creatures by default, but these two...

"She's got a reason to believe so, Gatrie," the other one said as he set his right hand in motion. He held a large steel gray key in that hand and he used it to open the steel-barred door.

"You there!" he shouted. "Stand up, it's time to go, time for phase two."

Rad did not even blink in a span of five seconds. He stayed as he was, unmoving, uncaring. For all he cared at that time, those two behemoths could go to Hel and confront Madussa, the reigning goddess of such dark place according to the many fables that abounded in Hyrule.

The two guards shared a glance at the defiance.

"Go get him, Gatrie," said the one who had opened the cell door, moving aside so that his partner could take on the order. "Hard."

Gatrie, huge smile on his hardened Tiger-like face, moved right away, entering the cell. He had to bend down a bit to grab a hold of the prisoner, but as soon as he grabbed a hold of his torn shirt, he pulled him up easily from the floor as if he was just a rag-doll.

"When Locke Kole speaks you obey, got that, you filthy rat?!" and he made sure to give the prisoner a very rough shake.

Rad Manthys knew he really owned the Furrion a favor, for in his weakened state, he couldn't of had managed to get up by himself. Or maybe he could of, but he was not about to go wasting precious energy that he believed was essential in his escape plan. In his thoughts, this tough monster was going to pay big time...he would hit the floor hard, just like many other foes had done so before. All in good time, Rad thought, savoring the moment, the thought of sweet vengeance.

"This stinky rat looks so weak that it's making me believe a real skinny looking rat looks stronger by comparison!" Gatrie stated. "I might have to carry him back with us!"

"Hahaha," Locke laughed aloud at his companion's observation, Locke followed suit, mirthfully as he placed the human in a comfortable carrying position over his shoulder. "Come on, bring him along, you, lets take him before the council. We do not want to be late and piss off the boss."

"Right," Gatrie agreed, moving out of the cell as he carried the prisoner easily with one hand. "I do not wish to be punished."

Rad eyed the guard's heavy sword hilt all the way through the corridor as the mighty Furrion carried him. He wanted to go for it, take his chance of escaping there. But the poor young man was feeling so weak that even the pure thought of acting felt heavy upon him. No, he was not in the condition to pull the nifty move off. He had fought many foes over his young teen years, but none of them compared to these two monsters in any way...they did not even come close. So it was a death wish what Rad was asking for. Besides, he had his hands tied and even if he did manage to grab a hold of the sword, would he be quick enough to react to cut his bonds with that heavy piece of steel? The sword was sure to weigh more than thirty--if not fifty--pounds! It was a no-go situation, Rad knew, so he would wait for another more chance. But, as the guard took him away from the cell block, Rad began to ponder: would he even get another chance?

Okay this was very good. Totally loved it with all the detail at the beggining because I love detail. There was only one mistake I saw and that was all I saw I think. It was lets instead of let's.

I looked for let's but did not find it, maybe I missed it, so if you could point me in the right direction where it is, I can correct that. I only found (lets) which is spoken by one of the guards, but that is how it is suppose to be used...Had I used let's it would also work as let's is two words: let us.
Glad you enjoyed the intro. :P

Locke was saying "lets take him down to the council".

Yes, he did say that. But you said it was lets instead of let's. I don't see any let's. lol So that is why I was thrown off. I was looking at the intro like a crazed beast trying to find let's. XD

Lol thanks alot. Yeah, it's a shame it got deleted, I was getting far on that one. Oh well, no harm done, here I am at it again, writing my simple stuff. Here's the end of the prologue. Next, come the introductions of your characters. So if you can scream in delight, do so now....Weeeeeeeee!

The guards took him through several long, wide corridors. These corridors either had guards or crates lined up along the walls. Rad noticed that the place was well guarded by an assortment of species. Through out the place he saw Rito, Furrion and even a few Bokoblin kin. That threw him off guard a bit, for Bokoblins were monsters, and they rarely joined up with any of the other species. As to the Rito, they were suppose to be a friendly kin.

"Halt!" Rad suddenly heard a man's shout from up front. The guard who was carrying him stopped, so did his companion at the far left side. Someone moved toward the pair of guards, his heavy armor resounding along the corridor as he stepped toward them. "What business have you two here in the council room?"

"Step aside, Omega!" the guard off to the left shouted. "Clear the way for us. the boss has demanded that we bring her the remaining prisoner. I don't know what she's got up her sleeve this time around, but I am not about to disobey her orders. She told us to bring him over to the council meeting, so here we are."

The guard stared hard at the two behemoths. He was a human guard, puny in comparison. After a few seconds of silence and intense staring between the brutish guards and the door guard, the man turned around and made a signal with his hand. Two other human guards that stood behind him near the huge, wooden door, nodded and removed their spears out of the way. One of them opened the door.

"That's the way I like it," Gatrie growled. "Out of my way, you human fools!" He and his partner started moving forward. As they went by and the guards were left behind, Rad Manthys was able to see them.

They stepped into an oval-like room which had a very high round ceiling. Rad took all the information of this room to heart. The guard that had carried him finally had set him down in front of him, and as immediately as he had done so, Rad began staring around, taking a measure of the room. The room felt at normal temperature. There were windows, all barred with steel bars on the outside and covered with a rare type of glass on the inside. There were also many iron-clad statues of warriors lining on every wall, Rad did not dismiss the fact that all of those guards were alive. The floor, Rad noticed as he glanced downward briefly, was covered with a red, royal carpet with yellow trim lines. And in front of him was a large, rectangular wooden table. Around this table were seated seven persons. There was a white feathered Rito female sitting off to the left and a yellow-black furred female Furrion to the right, the rest of the pack looked human enough. One of them, a red haired girl who concealed her face behind an ivory cat-like mask, stood out from the group. She was tall, even when seated, Rad had seen much of her during that awful night of the raid. She had been at least six feet four inches tall. She had been the one who'd had to subdue him that night, and she did it without breaking a sweat. One well placed punch had put Rad on the ground that stormy night. And Rad found out that the figure was a woman once she had spoken and given out orders to her clumsy guards, guards that ferocious Rad had managed to fend off.

Here she was again, this time dressed in a royal outfit instead of the long dark trench coat she was wearing that night of the raid.

"Leave us," she spoke behind the mask, her voice steady. The guards nodded and then turn to leave, leaving a weak Rad standing before the council.

For a long moment, the council members simply sat staring at the prisoner, who stared back too. But Rad was not interested in the other folk that flanked the tall woman, his brownish eyes were bored directly on her.

After a minute or so of the silence and creepy stare showdown, someone from the council coughed. Then, after sighing out loudly, the figure who sat in the middle of the table, stood up.

Rad followed her movements all the way as she rounded the table. She was definitely coming toward him, he noticed. She was wearing a bluish coat worthy of a king, and black, tight pants that reached just below her kneecaps. She also wore long, dark, leathery boots that reached just below the kneecaps, therefore covering the rest of her long pants.

When she approached him, Rad noticed that the woman smelt like a natural fresh flower. She probably had sprayed herself with a natural concoction, which were also known as perfumes and fragrances all over Hyrule. Those were hard to make fragrances, only the most wily concoctioners could pull off the task of perfume-making. Aside from the positive smell, which eradicated Rad's own assortment of bad smells in the room, the lass seemed to spread some sort of magical energy, a soothing-like type of wave energy that surrounded her.

The tall lass stood right in front of the prisoner, her green, emerald eyes staring at him from behind the ivory mask. She could tell that there was an air of arrogance and pride in her captive's face. She knew who he was, knew him by first and last name. Who hadn't after all? Rad was a member of the Manthys family, possibly the richest family in the continent.

"The other prisoners that came with you are all dead," she informed him, her voice steady. Rad straightened and glared at her eyes. What she had said had definitely hurt him. His friends were dead!
As she moved to encircle him, the tall woman went on to speak. "They were not strong enough to withstand my tests. The question now for us is...Are you the one we've been looking for?"

She came around him again, those pretty green eyes bored on him. Rad did nothing but stand there, taking a measure of what the woman was saying. There was no escape from this room, there were too many foes to even think about escaping alive.

But his dear friends were all dead! That fact alone was telling Rad to go for it, to reach out with his binded hands and to place the tight rope around the tall woman's neck. Rad believed that he could manage to do it quickly, but...

A fierce back-handed slap almost sent him stumbling to the floor, but Rad kept his balance. The hit had stun him like a hundred bee stings on his cheek. The woman was strong!

"You...in your weak condition think you can subdue me and use me as a hostage in an attempt to escape?"

Rad straightened back up, tasting his own blood within his mouth. His eyes went to the woman, who stood calmly in front of him. So she can read minds, Rad thought. That was just great!

"I can see right through you, Rad Manthys," she spoke aloud, her tone still steady. "Many have thought the same thing you do now...You wish nothing else but to kill me. All of those fools who thought of doing the very same thing are dead, forgotten...gone from the memories of this world. You will listen to me, and you will listen good if you do not want to follow in their footsteps...I--," she paused and briefly glanced back at the council through the corner of her eyes. "We...need your assistance. It has come to our attention that you are good wielding a sword. My clan and those that are associated with it wish for you to become our Weapons Master."

Rad listened on, not uttering a word. So his few adventures had not gone by without been noticed. They knew of him, of what he could do!

"Don't look so shocked," the woman went on to say as she rounded him again, her beautiful green eyes eyeing everything there was to see about the man. "My network is ample...and...your secret was betrayed to us."

Rad turned his head to the right and glanced at her with fury in his eyes. She smiled behind the mask, revealing to her prisoner that she had done so thanks to her partly closed eyes.

Rad lowered his head in shame...Oh, his dear old friend would pay big time.

Satisfied, she left it at that and then stood again in front of him.

"You are Rad Manthys, good citizen of Wind Fall Island who's been helping the needy these needful times, protecting them from scum like me. But that is not all...You are also one of the few Dragirs in existence living undercover as a human. Does that sum it up? Or should I go on and keep bringing old stuff up? I can speak about the..."

"That will be enough," Rad felt disgusted, his voice came out as a shout, making everyone present glance at him, even the guards near the walls. "You will do no such thing. What is it that you want from me?"

"There, there now, we are getting somewhere, aren't we?" She leaned in close to him and said almost in a whisper, "Let us just say that the time has come once again for you to render your services. That is all you need to know, and you know it." She rose her tone again. "So...We have a few tasks for you to perform. One of them is to train our servants, our warriors. You will teach them the way of the Dragir. You will teach them how to fight, how to kill, and they will learn how to do it effectively without failing, like a Dragir like you has done it through out the centuries. As to the other tasks...You will know of them soon enough. For now...do you understand what it is that I...I mean, we want from you?"

Rad stood facing the floor, but moments later, he nodded a few times, disgusted with himself. "Wait," he called out as the tall lass appeared to be leaving satisfied with his nod.

"Yes?" she turned around.

"My family..."

"Do no be concerned with their lives," she said. "They live still..."

Rad sighed heavily in relief.

"But...they are being held captive, too, in some place else, along with most of the citizens of Wind Fall. If you but fail to obey me...You wont ever see them again. I hold them in the palm of my hand." She approached him again. "Do you understand that, Rad of Manthys?"

"Yes," Rad was quick to respond. He could do nothing but trust her word. He wasn't going to go on and ask her to show him that they were actually alive. Rad knew he did not want to taste another of her blows again.

"Good..." she said, her voice as steady and friendly-like as ever. "Now you will go eat something and you will be taking a good, long bath afterwards. Tomorrow is the day you start your first task. Complete your tasks successfully and you will be a free man--Dragir...and you will have everything back...and much more, I promise."

Chapter 1
Their Own Plot

Three Months after the Raid on Wind Fall

"Will he ever forgive you?" a well educated voice was heard that sunny day. Yosh Nataku, who had been standing near the edge of the small Island known as child island, did not even stir at the question. His back was shown to his pet, a wizard assassin from another world who was a powerful ally indeed.

"Frankly," Yosh responded as he kept his stare out to the north east where in the distance loomed the shadowy figure of the Forsaken Fortress. "I don't care, Ark. There is too much to be gained from all of this than for me to care for my friendship with my ex boss and friend. Besides," the white-robed wizard turned around, his long, brownish hair dancing with the mild wind that blew that sunny day. "Rad abandoned me a long time ago, Remember? He turned against me, against our race, just to settle himself down and live in peace with the humans."

Ark Mantrios, who had been sitting against the light brownish trunk of a tree, drove his stare away from the reddish apple that he had been eating and directed his attention at his mighty Master, whom he had noticed had finally turned around.

"That traitor," Ark almost shouted in disgust. "He deserves your treachery. Blasted fool, to have abandon his race for the simple company of humans and...Furrions and koroks and...yes...those filthy flying birds--I am going to wipe that race from this world one day."

Yosh walked up to Ark, who stood up when his much taller Master got to him. "All in good time, dear Ark. I know you have your own ambitions, as do I. But, Rad Manthys is still alive, don't forget that. He will--without a doubt--come against us one day...I know him, and you know him...he always was good in obtaining what he wanted."

"So what are you saying?" Ark asked, noticing that his wizard teacher seemed afraid of Rad, a Dragir much like Yosh was. Ark was no Dragir, nor did he belong to any of the races that graced the surface of the world. He was a Jyy, belonging to one of the many demon classes that lurked in the underworld. Yosh had summoned his assistance a few centuries ago and had kept him under his wing. "Are you telling me that you are afraid of him? Of what he could do to you because you revealed to that lass who he really was?"

"I am not saying that," Yosh's face hardened, and his pupil noticed it and eased his stare. "I just meant to tell you that he will come against us sooner or later. You are in this mess as deep as I am, so you better keep in mind that we've made many powerful enemies."

"Many powerful enemies? Yosh, it is just Rad of Manthys who we have betrayed...I say we because you are right, I am involved in this matter. But relax, teacher. You have taught me well all those centuries ago. I am ready for him if he dares come against us. It has always been an honor to gut those Dragirs that were useless to you...if you think he is a threat, give me the go command and I will deal with him."

"You don't get it, do you?" Yosh turned around and headed back to his old spot where he had been staring out to the north east. Ark Mantrios went after him like a young son would follow his dear father. "Rad is not our only worry now. He has many friends, Arky. Don't forget that Anubis of the Zchoerei tribe still lives, as do Yuki GoldenFlower and Janine Escee, all who served the divine line under Shayla's guidance. Those are powerful foes, and just few that I want to mention to you. We don't have a clue what they turned themselves into, but be assured that they will come forth to their leader's call. They will not be too happy to learn that we've betrayed the clan, the pact that we swore to keep."

"All fools by my own thinking," Ark didn't seemed rattled in the least. "I could of had those dastards gone long time ago, but you failed to give out the orders to me. Instead, you opted to finish Dragiria off, sinking her to the bottoms of the ocean, not thinking that many would survive that catastrophe."

"It was too risky at that time," Yosh spoke, crossing his arms over his chest. His brown eyes were set upon the distance figure of the Forsaken Fortress. "Dragiria was still reigning strong those centuries ago, Rad of the Manthys family rose to power too quickly and crushed his foes. Trust me when I tell you that it was too risky, he would of had found out our intentions and would of had crushed us too. That is why I went for the realm itself instead of a few powerful foes."

"Bah!" Ark snorted. "Just get me close to him and I'll show you what I've become."

"You've become an excellent assassin and wizard under my guidance," Yosh conceded to his pet. "That is why we became allies, because I knew you would grow to be someone big in our world. That is why I trusted my plans to you those centuries ago. You've been acting superb under my orders. And now...We just wait for that red haired gal to obtain the Aqua Pearl from Princess Zelda. Once she does get it, we go in with our forces and steal it. And then...we--me and you--will reign supreme over the world. You keep the south parts of it while I keep the north. It is our deal, a fair one."

Ark Mantrios, who was listening to every word his master spoke, nodded. But he was eager to gut someone, so he spoke. "I definitely find myself in need of killing something, and in big numbers, blood I must drink--And soon! I could go to Dragon Roost and begin with those smelly birds..."

Yosh turned to stare at him. Smiling, the wizard said, "Relax, Ark of Mantrios. There will be much killing for you to do in a few days, and much blood to satisfy your gut. Such wonderful trophies await you...should I mention some?"

"Why don't you?" Ark laughed wickedly. "Maybe that will ease me up a bit."

"Valoo, to begin with," Yosh spoke, also very delighted and in an evil manner. "Then, just for mere pleasure, when the Red dragon is gone from the confines of this world, you can also kill those pesky fairies, we wont need them to keep balance in this world. Why would we need them when we are also going after Madussa and Omega themselves?"

"Hahaha!" Ark laughed, much delighted. "You are probably right, Master. Some feathery things are not worth meeting my blades at the moment. Those foolish Rito can wait...I shall begin with more powerful beings."

He brought out his small dagger and his sword and then begin to slice and dice around him as he imagined himself in the midst of battle. Yosh, eyeing him curiously, proposed, "Well, your dance with the blades has ever delighted me...I could use my Dark Stone and summon some foes for you to play with if you like?"

"Do so," Ark responded, not stopping his movements. The mighty wizard immediately went to work, raising his hands up and closing his eyes. He uttered a few words that were barely spoken out loud and then a dark aura surrounded him completely. The ground below them began to shake, not violently but mildly.

Moments later, bony hands came out from underneath the ground. First one, then another, and then more...more than Ark's eyes could see. Yosh uttered another incantation, one that lifted him off the ground and out of reach from any foes. "Happy playing," he said aloud. "I'll be watching you from up here."

Delighted, Ark Mantrios prepared himself for the coming onslaught. "Fifty bone walkers? What kind of joke is this? You could of at least summoned a Cukuuyo too."

From above, Yosh laughed wickedly. He was about to concede his friend his wish by summoning an ancient beast from the underworld which apparently by Ark's account were the demon's archenemies, but some movement from the north east caught his eye then. Yosh's mouth curled into a delightful smile when he noticed that it appeared that the Pirate Crew that had made the Forsaken Fortress their garrison, were finally moving out.

"My dear, Ark Mantrios," Yosh but whispered. "Finish those bony creatures fast...we have to move."

Below, the skeletons had risen completely from under the ground. All wielded some sort of weapon, and all of them knew who they had to attack, the lone, figure that stood in the middle of them.

Chapter 2

A New Discovery

Same day, Southern Waters of Ice Ring Isle

From beneath the cold, icy waters that surrounded Ice Ring Isle came a mighty tug at Alecia Xandria's enchanted fishing pole string.

"Hey!" she shouted as the small boat in which she was sailing rocked hard and was almost flipped over by the fierce tug. The fishing rod, which had been laying harmlessly off to the backside of the boat suddenly went out of the boat and into the water, but since it was enchanted, at the call of her master to stop, it did. The young girl who had shouted the command stood up from her wooden seat and ran to the railing, leaning over it and barely managing to grab a hold of the pole, her most precious belonging. It was a gift from her father and she was not going to lose it, not now and not ever.

Another mighty tug came from below, one that surely would of had pulled the pole underneath the water, but Alecia held the pole strongly with both of her hands and managed to keep it in her possession. The fishing pole also had magical properties that lent the owner extra strength. Knowing that she had caught something, Alecia began to reel in whatever it was that she had caught.

After fighting her catch for a few seconds, Alecia came to realize that her catch was something big, like a shark or a perhaps something bigger than that. Had it been some other smaller fish, it had not been a hard task to reel in, but it was definitely something big, for the magical strength that the pole was sharing with its master was not even appearing to be enough to reel the catch in. It was too strong a creature that the string attached to her pole barely wound an inch.

"Dang it!" Alecia shouted as she had to give the creature more string and liberty. She was losing the battle, something that she had never experienced before in all her fishing days...but she was not going to lose this fight, she was an expert fisherwoman. Her reputation as such was known in many parts of Hyrule. She even had many fishing trophies to prove it.

"I'm not going to lose here," she told herself and pulled hard at the pole, keeping her catch from escaping. She kept fighting it for a while, moments that she had to give in more of the line and then pull it in. On and on the tugging battle went for minutes, and suddenly, Alecia realized that she had managed to reel in a good portion of the string, thanks to the magical properties of her precious pole. Suddenly, below the boat and off to the side of it, she finally was able catch something: She had managed to catch a glimpse of the monstrous dark shadow that belonged to her catch.

She got so scared and nervous that she almost let go of the pole. The creature she had caught appeared to be a whale!

“Im...Impossible,” she stammered nervously. “Whales here?”

The monstrosity that was her catch suddenly gave her a better view of itself as part of its body came out of the water as it seemed to be passing by. Alecia gasped in surprise and horror when she realized it was not a whale but something else! what she had seen of it had been large, yellow scales that could of been the size of herself and dark, pointy tips.

She did not know if what she was living in those moments was real or a simple dream. If she could of pinched herself to assure herself of reality, she would of done so, but she knew she had not the time to do that. She realized then that she was in the real world, not dreaming, and she had somehow managed to catch a monster. This monster, if she caught it somehow, would be her biggest trophy yet. She knew that, and she knew what awaited her if she did catch it. Fame and glory for many generations to come!

A mighty tug, the mightiest she had felt by far in her fishing career, rocked her back to reality. She was almost pulled into the water, but she kept her strong will, so did her magical pole, which was feeding her strength to keep the battle going.

“Thanks, dad,” she finally managed to smile despite feeling scared as never before. “I owe you big time.”

She begin to realize in her inner thoughts that she should of had brought company with her. A few days ago, before she had set out from Outset Island, where she had friends, a few sailors that had made a home there had proposed to her that they go out on three fishing vessels and bring back a mighty quantity of fish. Alecia had refused, for she told them that she was headed to Ice Ring Isle alone in hopes of catching a coveted prize: an ice shark. Ice Sharks were hard to catch, but they fetched a good amount of rupees in the fishing markets. Alecia Xandria had never caught one, but she wanted too catch one badly, that is what kept her in the fishing business.

Up north, many months ago, a fisherman teenager known as Hiro had caught one of the Ice Sharks with the help of his friends, that way becoming the first ever Hyrulean to catch such a rare shark. After his fame and glory, many fisherman and studiers of the sea decided to pursue fame and glory, but the Ice Sharks were rare breeds and difficult to catch. Not one other had been announced caught since Hiro’s accomplishment. Alecia wanted to be the second person to catch one, and one bigger than what Hiro and his crew had delivered.

Right now it was no Ice Shark that was clinging at the other end of her fishing pole, but a really big monster...one that would sure push her past Hiro’s accomplishment! Alecia Xandria realized that she could not lose the fight to the monster...

But suddenly, all of her sweet thoughts of becoming famous came to an abrupt end. The creature issued a loud bellowing roar from underneath, sound that made Alecia panic. The creature was furious, she knew, and it was rounding back at her from its march. Out in the distance, Alecia noticed that the creature was going to rise out of the water. It did, revealing to her its front end, a large and wide head which very much resembled a dragon’s head but with many differences. Alicia became horrified of the monster, so much that she let go of the pole and backed away from the edge of her boat. As the creature’s body kept rising out of the water, she thought she was a goner, she thought that the beast was going to shatter her boat to pieces and in the process kill her. She sunk low, sitting on the deck of the boat while she embraced her knees with her arms, bracing for the hit.

It never came, but Alecia heard an ear splitting bellow and the loud splashing of water. A fairly good amount of icy water soaked her wet, and she uttered a single cry of fear.

Trembling, she then managed to get a hold of herself and began to stand up. She started walking to the edge of her small boat with shaky legs. There was no shadow in the water anymore. Her eyes scanned all around her for signs of her precious pole. There was nothing similar to it laying on the surface of the water. Alecia went to the other side, still feeling nervous and very scared. No fishing pole there either, and she closed her eyes, knowing that she would have a hard time resigning herself of having lost her most valued possession. She gulped hard, feeling grateful with the All-mighty that at least she was still alive.

Minutes later, sad as she felt, the young woman began preparations to sail away from the Island.

“Father,” she cried, with tears starting to come forth from her eyes. “I have failed you big time. I have lost what I always wanted to keep with me. Please forgive me.”

Many minutes later, Alecia Xandria was sailing toward the north, her heart still heavy from the loss of her precious fishing pole...and the scare.

Chapter 3

A Warrior from the Past

Same Day, Wind Fall Island, 5:00 pm.

“Hurry it up, you dirty dog,” the captain of the watch shouted at one of the recruits. “Town’s got to be safe while under my watch. Now go to the east and relieve the guard there. You‘ll be keeping your good sight out to sea. If you see anything funny, you report straight to me. Got it?”

“I am on my way, captain,” the recruit responded as he indeed started to head east in his walk.

“You better be,” the old, grouchy captain shouted as he saw the young one doing what he had just been told. The captain was fat and six feet tall, his hair was mainly white as snow and he was fully covered with gray, heavy armor. On his back he carried a huge two-headed axe, weapon that he used when fighting. “And you be staying there until midnight. No food and drink until your relief gets there, those are the rules I’ve set for my squad.”

“Got it, sir,” the recruit responded and then started to run. This recruit was also dressed in light armor. He carried two blades, one on each side of his hips. And he carried an over-the-shoulder leathery satchel where he kept other useful items. He was short by human standards, but he was no human at all. That human facade was but a ruse, the real Dragir remained underneath it.

Anubis Harken, proud and the only remaining member of the ancient dragir tribe of the Zchoerei, had been working undercover since a year ago. He had let himself get recruited by the Sword and Dirk Pirate clan, the most feared clan in all of Hyrule. They were up to something, he had known that since a while back, that is why he had let himself be recruited by them. He would not leave their ranks until it was made clear to him what they were after.

Anubis had not participated in the raid of Wind Fall Island, rather he had arrived with the current crew that was occupying the Island under the orders of a tall, red haired girl who everyone in his group seemed to fear. The town was not destroyed, but at the moment it was serving the Pirate Crew as some sort of secondary base. All Anubis knew from all the chatter he had heard recently was that the group Sword and Dirk was preparing an invasion of another Island.

Thinking many things in his head, Anubis arrived to the location where a very young human guard stood watch out to sea.

“Oh, hey,” this one said as he saw the new arriver. “You startled me with your footsteps. Is it time for me to be on my way? I am hungry, haven’t eaten anything since I was sent here to keep watch. That dang old thing that we call captain is very strict.”

“Yes, he’s grouchy, must be his age. And yes, you may go, soldier,” Anubis responded kindly. “If I were you I’d go directly to the cook.”

“I shall,” the young soldier said as he grabbed some of his belongings from a nearby wooden table that had been set there so guards could set stuff there. “If you want, I can bring you something to eat. I’ll make sure nobody sees me coming here.”

Anubis glanced over at him. “I don’t want you getting in trouble, so no. I will manage, just like you did.”

The soldier nodded, then left in a hurry, leaving Anubis alone and to his task. Anubis took a deep breath, removed the helm that he had been given by the group and then set it on the wooden table.

“Keep an eye out, eh?” he said as he sat down on a wooden chair that was beside the table. “That is not really my kind of job. I’d be feeling more at home if I was serving under Captain Manthys orders, killing foes and fighting going on all around me.”

He then pondered about his other two female friends, who were also of Dragir kin and few of the survivors since the catastrophe of Dragiria. Yuki GoldenFlower and Janine Escee were their names, dragir females that had served the same squad under the orders of Rad Manthys. As he sat there staring out to the open ocean, Anubis thought what had become of them. What had they transformed into when catastrophe struck and the powerful land of Dragiria had been swallowed by the sea? Were those two dragirs even alive? He closed his eyes, thinking that perhaps they had not made it after all. The last time he had seen them those centuries ago, those two had been with the Captain himself, whereas Anubis had been dispatched on a mission with more than a hundred other dragirs, all of whom had fallen to an unidentified foe in one of the towers of the dragir city. Anubis himself had barely managed to escape the magical onslaught himself, and in order to have done so, he’d had to sacrifice many valuable items that he had possessed back then.

“Just as soon as I find out what these creeps are after I will go on an excursion to find them.” Anubis told himself. “It maybe that one day I could find them, or they can find me. For now...Captain Rad, Yuki, Janine, be well.”

Chapter 4

Arriving at Dragon Roost Island

Dragon Roost Island, Sundown

“What do we have here now?” the young lad asked himself as he noticed two small boats in the distance. Inko Rami was his name, and he had been hired a month ago by the Rito chief in Dragon Roost Island to serve as a lookout.

He was glad of the job he had been assigned. Ever since he had been appointed “Watcher of the Southern Region” Inko had had many reports to give. Particularly it had been reports of merchant vessels and small boats that usually found themselves sailing the seas in search of rare artifacts and places to sell and trade.

“These two have to be merchants too,” the twelve year old kid told himself. He did not have the use of a magical lens, or what the Rito called a Telescope, which was used by pirates and sailors alike to view far away things in the distance at a much nearer perspective. He still had to earn that as a watcher.

“Two vessels off to the south!” Inko shouted loudly so that another lookout could hear and carry the warning to the Rito guards within the stone fortress. “If my eyes don’t fail me yet, they appear to be trading vessels.”

Inko heard a very loud chirp in return, a chirp that let him know that his warning had been received. He did not relax, rather kept staring out at the boats from his position up high in the Island.

The kid was not off in his assessment, one of the boats indeed belonged to a merchant, while the other, a much faster smaller boat belonged to someone else, a young woman.

Minutes later, Inko noticed that the boats had made it to the beach of the Island, and as soon as they had arrived, a trio of Rito had come out of hiding and had encountered the newly arrived people.

Inko had good eyes, so he did not have trouble noticing that two of the arrivers were young guys and the other a very cute, brown haired girl.

Wanting to hear more on the matter at hand, Inko opted to come down from his assigned position. He did not have wings like the Rito did, but he did own two enchanted swords that allowed him to fly freely as a bird. By Valoo’s grace, the material needed for such swords to work like they did had been given to the kid as a gift. He now served Valoo and his colleagues, the Rito, to the bone, as he liked to put it.

Down came Inko, using his swords as wings, flapping them as he had launched himself out to the air. He landed swiftly above a tree, just like a Rito or a smaller bird would of had done so. From there, he heard the conversation that was taking place.

“Who are you and what business brings you to our beautiful Island, newcomers?” a brown feathered Rito guard asked the two persons that had arrived. There was also a black dog near the male, probably his companion. “I mean, everyone is welcomed here thanks to Valoo’s favorable ruling. But we still need to ask a few questions now and then.”

“I am a humble merchant,” the guy spoke as he bowed quickly. “My name is Marsden...I handle my business both at sea and on land. I buy and sell stuff at a good price, you see?”

The three Rito guards just stared at him.

“Oh, and this guy here is my clumsy partner Xander. He’s not clumsy, but I like to think he is...get me?"

Again, the Rito just stared at the merchant, then at the black dog, which noticed that the birds had turned to stare at him. He barked at them several times, making them back off just a bit.

"Easy there, Xander. These are not bad birds..."

"Are you sure you don't need to be restraining that beast with a collar?" one of the Rito asked. "The dog looks vicious."

"You are safe from him," the merchant promised as he knelt beside his pet to pat his back.

“What about you, pretty one?” another guard, a much taller white feathery Rito, asked the third human who had arrived alone on a red boat that seemed to have some sort of fast mechanism attached to it in the rear. Such devices were common to see now a days, magic had allowed inventors to come up with that sort of stuff.

“My name is Alecia Xandria,” she spoke in a nice tone, but the guards noticed she seemed a little bit shaken, and they noticed the trace on her face left by tears. Yes, Alecia had been crying still even when she was about to arrive Dragon Roost Island, her fishing pole had been very special to her. “I am...”

“We know who you are,” the main chief guard declared, the brown feathered Rito. “You fish, right?”

“I...” she lowered her eyes to the sandy ground. “I do.”

“Nice,” the the third guard smiled widely. This one also had a silvery coat of feathers covering him. “So what do you say to a game of cards? Go fish?”

The other guard chuckled but was silenced right away after the captain guard elbowed him to be quiet.

"Ouff!" this one cried in pain as he bent a bit after receiving the hit.

“I am not in the mood for playing games right now,” Alecia responded, still in a nice way though. “I just ran into something new out in the ocean...I thought I’d come here and inform Valoo. Perhaps he can let me know what is it that I saw. I hear he’s ancient and knows many things of this world and then some.”

“What did you see?” one of the guards wanted to know. He even leaned forward, showing interest to hear the answer.

“She just said it was something new, you doofus,” the chief guard said. “So how is she suppose to know what she saw?”

The guard shrugged, and the main chief turned his attention to the lass. “Was it a fish, though? Or a bird? Or what?”

"Maybe it was her shadow," the guard that had gotten elbowed proposed with a laugh, causing Alecia to glance at him.

“It was a giant be...” Alecia started to say, but then she noticed that there were too many bodies around her, even a boy above on a tree that seemed too interested in the conversation. “I better save my report for dear old Valoo. Is that okay?”

“Yes, as you will,” the captain of the guard said, then coughed. “You two, take her to Valoo right away.” As the guards led the beautiful fisherwoman away, the captain turned his attention to the guy and his dog.

“As to you two, you are welcomed to stay and spend the night here. Be assured that the flock will want to see your goods, they are always buying cheap crap from merchants who come here.”

Marsden stood back up and stared at the Rito guard.

“Well I am sorry to ruffle your feathers, bro,” he replied, hurt by what the guard had said. “But I don’t sell crap, our goods are unique and very rare, right Xander?”

Xander barked loudly.

“That’s what every merchant says,” the guard winked at Marsden. He barely issued an audible chuckle, but he nodded at them.

“Very well, I will go up and inform my colleagues of your arrival. As I have said, they will be interested to see what...sort of goods you offer.”

The chief left, leaving the two friends alone.

“Do you think we will make a good fortune with these birds, Xander?”

The dog barked back in response and followed his master back to the boat.

“To tell you the truth, my old friend, I am more interested to hear what that pretty lass has to say to Valoo...Anyway,” he started to run in the cool water that reached the beach. “Let us begin to unload the goods. Those birds will be out here any minute.”

“Woof, woof!”

Inko, who knew the scene was at an end, spread his swords out like wings then headed back up to his position. He knew he would get a chance to see the merchants and their goods soon, everyone in the Island always got that opportunity.

Chapter 5

Free to Go

Forsaken Fortress, same day...close to Nightfall

A different looking Rad Manthys stood near the edge of one of the tall ramparts looking out to the west. He was not in his fake human form, rather he was his own self, the true white-scaled Dragir being that he was born to be millenias ago. His capturee had provided him three nice looking outfits. That day, Rad was wearing dark pants and dark boots. His torso was covered with a very light piece of dark armor. He was also carrying a brown belt around his waist, from which hung a golden scabbard, a satchel and two small dagger holsters on his right side. Tucked near his sword's scubbard was also a silvery, double-barrel pistol, one which had a large, magical, pinkish diamond as a handle. The diamond had been neatly carved into the form of a skeleton's torso by expert Dragirs centuries ago.

Those were his actual weapons that had survived the fall of Dragiria along with him. Thanks to the red haired woman's grace, Rad had managed to go and get them from an Island where he had hidden them the day he had decided to live among the humans. He had not gone alone, the red haired pirate lass and more than fifty effectives had gone along with him. That trip had been four days after Rad had recuperated himself from the long foodless days he had spent as a prisoner. According to him, he had told the red haired girl that in order for him to train her soldiers, he would need to display his skills while wielding his only true weapons, and so the lass had agreed to take him to where he had hidden them. The trip took a week, but after they returned to the Forsaken Fortress, Rad went all out with his training of the soldiers, teaching them everything he knew.

Below the rampart where he stood, a small fleet of three enormous ships and five regular war vessels were beginning to set sail out to the west, all ships full of troops. These were to follow another contingency that had left earlier, but these others were headed to another direction.

He wondered what that was all about. During his stay in the Forsaken Fortress, he had not heard anything that could fill him in on whatever was going on. No rumors he had heard, no whispers coming from soldiers or servants...nothing.

“They leave on orders from me,” a female’s voice, one that Rad recognized immediately, startled him from behind. He turned around, his right hand on the hilt of his precious golden sword, one which he knew as Sword of the Meek ever since he had acquired it from the Dragir Queen herself back in the old days.

He eased his grip right away, noticing that the red haired lass stood just at the edge from the climbing ladder. She had gotten to him without making a single noise, and that set the Dragir on edge.

“Relax, big guy. Weren’t you curious about all the movement below?”

“I was,” he said, turning his gaze back out to sea. There was no reason to fear the tall lass, the Dragir had understood that many days ago. Had she wanted him dead, she would of had killed him by now. She had not, and that was only because Rad served many purposes for her. Not only had the Dragir performed admirably for her during his imprisonment training her servants and soldiers in the arts of fighting and combat, but Rad had also proven worthy in many other ways, like the retelling of the tales of old, which the Dragir knew quite well. Aside from that, he was something amusing to look at, the tall read haired girl believed. She enjoyed talking to him, enjoyed being by his side.

The tall girl walked slowly toward him until she stood at his right side. That day she was wearing a sleveless white blouse and dark, tight pants and her fancy boots. Rad also noticed that she wore several golden necklaces and several rings which shone brightly.

She took a good measure of the warrior, and so did he, after he noticed that the woman was intently staring at him. Was it the dark, medium sized ram-like horns that adorned the top of his head what had her awestruck? Was it the few scales that covered his face, torso, arms and legs that kept her amused? Or did she simply stare at him because she wanted to do just that? Rad did not know the reason, and he was not about to ask her, that would be rude, he thought.

“The day for the invasion of Castle Zelda is at hand,” she went on to reveal, shocking him. “But first, those troops are headed somewhere else, they need to perform a task first. You, my dear Captain, are free to go now. You are a free man--Dragir...like I promised you.”

Rad turned his full body to her after she said that. “You are not kidding me?”

“Nay,” she responded, opting to turn away from the Dragir’s stare and out to her fleet of ships below. “You have done well, Rad. You managed to train my followers in the allotted time that I set up for you, you managed to tell us all there is to know about magic, the past...and you managed to teach me a few things too.” She turned her stare back at him, Rad only being able to see those pretty, emerald green eyes.

As he stared back at her, Rad only wondered what she could possibly look like. Was she a pretty woman? Or did she cover her face simply to hide her ugliness, a scar or a burn?

“What could I possibly have taught you?” Rad asked. “I never gave you any lessons, mistress.”

Mistress is what everyone else had been calling her, so that stuck to Rad as well.

The wind blew lightly then, making the woman’s hair lash out away from her.

“To learn something, one does not necessarily have to take part in it to learn. I saw from afar on many occasions...and I learned, trust me.”

That settled that, Rad was not about to dispute that, for she was right, one could easily learn just by mere observation or through good hearing.

“Well,” Rad said, his voice gentle. “I am glad I served you well. I was only acting under your orders, what choice did I have? I was your prisoner, I obeyed your commands, I did not want my human family harmed. And now, if you really mean that I am a free Dragir, a free man to go...I will do just that. But before I leave...will you tell me where my family is at? I wish to reunite with them.”

The woman stood staring at him for a while, then she spoke. “We had a deal. I may be a pirate and only trash to your eyes, but I have my honor. I said that I would compensate you well enough after all was done. You will find many items waiting for you in a chest within your private quarters...And of course I will tell you about your family.”

She stared away from him and decided to stare back out to the west, where her ships had managed to form an inverted V formation. She folded her well toned arms over her chest.

“The night of the raid on Wind Fall, I knew your human family would serve me a great deal just in case you refuse to help me out. It turned out that I guessed right, you came to love your family too much to have them get hurt. You helped me with my tasks as long as the safety of your family was assured. Trust me, they are well. But before I tell you where they are, you may want to learn about your old Dragir friend, the one who betrayed you, the one who told me who exactly was Rad of Manthys in Wind Fall. If not for his help, my followers and I would of had never guessed you were that Dragir in human form. Now I know you only desire to leave and make sure your family is okay, but I also know that after you take care of that, you’ll go looking for him in an attempt to repay him for his bad deed.”

Rad lowered his sight to the sea below. From the ramp-way that led up to the guard parapets, a few shouts were heard, and those belonged to guards who were keeping guard all over the Island. From where Rad and the red haired gal stood, they could see the figures of the guards below.

“Maybe you already know this, maybe you don’t. Yosh Nataku, as he told me was his name, has possession of a rare stone that use to be mere legend to us Hyruleans. We know that stone by the name of Omega’s Folly...perhaps you heard of it?”

Rad shook his head, for he really did not know of such stone.

“Well...that stone is said to be one of three in existence. Once put together, these powerful stones form one...One that serves a purpose. I don’t know what that purpose is...but the tales say that the stones form a key, one that opens the resting place of Omega Blaster, whom the legends describe as being the All-Mighty’s son and one who was cast out from Celestia. Your friend carries this dark stone with him, just thought you should know that, for if the legends are true, then he is more dangerous even than myself. Being a Dragir and all...and after all you have told me about the past, well I thought that perhaps that information would come handy to you.”

Rad was staring at the ground, but he rose his sight up and leveled it at the tall woman’s own.

“Did you say dark stone? Was the stone you saw dark in color?”

“I did,” the mistress nodded, turning her body in his direction so that they stood staring face to face. “And yes it was. The stone was dark in color and with an ancient symbol carved on it that I could not recognize. I only found out that he had it in his possession thanks to my magical abilities. If you want, I could show you a hologram of this stone right now.”

“Do, please,” Rad almost grabbed the mistress’ hands, but he detained himself knowing that he could suffer greatly if he did.

“Very well,” she said, and she began to motion her hands in a circling motion. She uttered something that Rad did not understand and then, bit by bit, the air around them began to bubble with many assorted colors. Rad backed away and covered his eyes, these hurt because of the shiny light that radiated from the bubbles. He then heard the woman say, “It is done.”

And he stared back only to find a small hologram that depicted the image of the stone.

The Dragir felt a wide variety of sensations as he saw the image in front of him. The tall woman did not miss any of his reactions. She knew that the Dragir felt enraged, felt the pain of the past come to life before him.

“So it was him, wasn’t it?” she asked him moments later, when Rad had calmed himself and appeared to be breathing normally, his stare set on the ground. She dismissed the hologram and concentrated her stare on him.

Rad said nothing, he was still too shocked of it all, too shocked to have found out after many centuries that Yosh Nataku, Dragir whom he had adored as a friend, had actually been the one who had played a role in the destruction of the Crystal City: Dragiria. He was carrying the very stone that had kept Dragiria’s balance above the water, the very stone that had given every Dragir long lasting life.

Rad turned his head sideways, his eyes closed. He was feeling more than hurt as those past images returned to his memory.

“Your friend was the one responsible for the...” she did not have the nerve to finish her sentence. She was a strong Sage and something else, but she did not want to take her chances with an enraged Dragir.

“How...could...he...” Rad spoke in stammers and feeling very miserable. He was more than enraged, and it seemed then to the mistress that he would not be able to contain his rage. So she spoke quickly...

“Listen to me good, Rad. You are free to go, you are bound to my service no more. You know now that I intend to replace both King and Queen of Hyrule with my own government. I do not wish to kill you, nay, it was never my intention to harm you nor your family. But I needed your services...I think that by having shared that information with you, that about makes us even. You now know...after many centuries of wondering, who was the one responsible for the demise of your precious realm. You might go after him, you might do battle with him, you might do other stuff...but know this, though...If you cross my path and intend to stop me from fulfilling my plans, we will become enemies. And if that does come to happen...I wont be seeing you as a friend. I will strike at you without hesitance...and just so you remember the power I possess...here’s a demonstration for you...”

The mistress lowered her arms straight down, fists clenched tightly, then she quickly folded her arms halfway back up. She then started reciting some spell as she moved her arms in many different angles and her emerald green eyes became as white as the snow. The air began to blow furiously, causing Rad to glance around in a concerned way. It appeared to the Dragir then that the wind was howling like the laughter of a thousand demons. When Rad set his eyes on the mistress, he noticed that a ball of energy was beginning to form in front of her.

The ball of energy kept growing until it reached the size of a peahut.

Suddenly, the mistress released the energy ball out to the west toward Star Island. Rad followed it with his eyes as it sailed across the now darkly sky. He even felt a rush to head to all the way to the stone railing of the rampart, and so he did. The woman stared at his movements and said, “Star Island will no longer exist after this night.”

Rad turned a serious glare at her. How the Dragir hated individuals who seemed to destroy the world and not give a dang about it. He felt like retaliating at her for her deed, but he didn’t and she knew of his intentions but said nothing.

“You have another option I will offer you now,” she said, noticing that the Dragir’s eyes went back out to sea to follow the magical ball of energy she had released moments ago.

“You can join me...and lead my forces against the crown. I'd appoint you my Second in Command, just below my rank. If you do join me...there will be much to be gained...And...if you join me, I myself will go with you and hunt your friend down. I need an answer before you go...”

Rad, who was staring out to the west did not respond. Instead, he kept in silence as in the distance a great explosion rose from out of nowhere. The Dragir knew the ball of energy had reached Star Island and had exploded, obliterating it to smitherans. Whoever had been living there was sure gone from this world now, and that pained the Dragir as much as the treason of his own kin.

“I don’t have anything against you,” was what Rad responded many minutes later. “But I have never risen my blade against the meek. Ever since I became a Dragir soldier I swore to protect those that could not protect themselves. I swore an oath to King and Queen to never raise my blade against innocents or for evil deeds. I swore an oath to fight against those who wish to cause pain, sorrow, and death...This means this oath makes me your enemy, but like I said...I have no problem with you...yet. I have another one I must seek first.”

The Red haired woman just stood straight as the Dragir went past her. She shivered when Rad glanced over his shoulder just to look at her.

"Then you have chosen death..." she said as the Dragir started to head down the ladder.

Rad stopped short, just in time before his head disappeared from the woman's view.

"I've been dead since a very long time ago." And with that, he climbed down the ladder, fast.

Chapter 6

The Guardian

Dragon Roost Island, Night

Valoo was always happy to receive visitors, especially if those visitors came seeking his advice.
Noticing a light frown on the young girl who had just walked into his cool chamber, a top-most room in Dragon Roost Island, he knew something was troubling her.

"Valoo, oh venerated Red Dragon," Alecia said as she was instructed to say by a guard who stood guard outside of the chamber. "I place myself before your good grace." And she knelt on one knee and lowered her head down, her eyes closed. "My name is Alecia Xandria."

"What is it that you seek, young one?" Valoo replied. A magical amulet that a wizard Rito had created for Valoo allowed the Red Dragon's voice to be heard in an understandable language, that language that Hyruleans spoke. This amulet hung from the Dragon's wide neck and it sparkled every time he spoke.

Valoo was old--nay--he was ancient, though nobody could guess the Dragon's real age. What the Hyruleans knew of him was that he had been living since the foundation of the Earth. He was not the only one, there were other mammoth-like sized beings that still inhabited the world after many thousands of years. With his large eyes, Valoo inspected the beautiful girl. She was wearing a three-piece outfit composed of a light grayish sleeveless blouse, a brownish vest and short, ivory pants that were also known as shorts. She also wore dark brown boots that reached halfway up her shins and a brown leathery belt secured around her waist. Her eyes were of a grayish color. Her hair was brown, long and tied in a ponytail, and her ears were pointy, as those of elves. To finish off Valoo's inspection, he noticed that she also wore a bracelet and earrings.

"I...I just came here to inform you that while I was fishing near the Ice Ring Isle, I ran into some sort of sea monster," Alecia explained as she stood up, the moment of paying respect to the large Dragon had passed by.

"Hm, so I see...then the vibrations I felt were not just my imagination," Valoo spoke mostly to himself. He was seated inside the great room on a large throne. Though the walls of his personal room were just the stone of the volcano that stood on the Island, the Rito had placed an assortment of frames as decoration to make their Ruler's room look more interesting and royal-like. The ceiling remained the same, there was a large opening on top of the room, which the Dragon use to go out. On many occasions, Valoo could be seen from afar while he sat at the very top of Dragon Roost Island. He mainly sat during the day, as when night came, Valoo was still tied to the rules of the mortal world, he had to find his rest just like any other being populating the world did.

Alecia glanced up at the huge hole in the ceiling, or rather, the volcano's top end. Stars were beginning to show themselves up in the sky, for nightfall had started to fall. Suddenly, both Valoo and Alecia thought they heard a distant rumble.

Knowing that time was of the essence, Valoo told the young girl, "Do not be afraid of what you saw, young one. You do not need to describe it to me as surely I know exactly what it is that you saw. It was frightening to look at, with dark, yellow scales and had many spikes protruding from its body and head. The monster was also enormous. Did I fail in my description?"

Alecia, flabbergasted at the accurate description, just managed to shake her head several times at the enormous Red Dragon. "N...no, you nailed it. That is exactly what I saw...but...That monster is huge! How is that no one else has encountered it before? By the sheer size of it, I am sure someone else might have caught a glimpse of it."

Valoo closed his eyes and kept them closed for quite some time.

"Something is happening," he finally said after a while, moments that Alecia just stood nervously in the room, wondering if she should leave now. It had appeared to her that Valoo had fallen asleep.
"Something I knew would happen soon. If Qhuwheiyar has been disturbed in his deep ocean realm, then Hyrule again is under great threat."

"Wha...What are you talking about, oh Great Dragon?" Alecia seemed puzzled. The famous fisherwoman knew the Dragon knew something she did not know. Well, in reality the great Valoo knew a great deal of things that others did not, but Alecia knew he knew something that was happening in all of Hyrule that she did not. The girl took heart that the Dragon had not mentioned that the beast was an enemy, rather it appeared that he knew the sea monster well. He had probably mentioned his name, which Alecia did not remember now, Valoo had said it too fast.

"So you mean to tell me that we are facing another Ganon like threat, oh Great Dragon? And did you just mention that sea monster by name? Kuway--something..."

"Yes, Qhuwheiyar is just a guardian...like me, there is no need to fear him, though his looks make him the most scary looking of us guardians. There are two who were set as guardians of the ocean waters, Jabu and Qhuwheiyar. Jabu handles guarding the high seas, whereas to Qhuwheiyar, he guards the very deep parts of the ocean where no light shines and where the Syrens reside."

Alecia set a puzzled expression. Syrens were only mentioned in legends. "Syrens exist after all?"

"Every being mentioned in the stories of old exist, child," Valoo replied, courteously. He then stood up from his throne, causing the room to shake. "Come with me now. It is time."

"Time for what?" Alecia asked and the same time the door to the Dragon's lair was opened and a group of five tough looking Rito guards entered.

"Oh great Dragon Valoo," the main guard spoke as they all knelt before him. "Dire news from the east. Star Island has been...Obliterated by..."

"I know of it, Arpask," Valoo informed him. The guards stood up, surprised. "I felt it, and so did Alecia. Now, I bid you all farewell for a few days, there is much I need to do now."

"But oh, Great One, you cannot leave us. Prince Komali is not here, we will be left without a leader and..."

"Code red," Valoo explained, causing the guards to look at each other in concern. "The young girl will ride with me, for she brought proof to me of Qhuweiyar's rising. The world, my friends..." Valoo paused and stared at the Rito. "Is in danger once again. A recent threat has been dealt with, but yet another one has appeared before us. Send out your most swift flying messengers and convey to Zelda Castle that we are in danger once again, alert them and tell them to reinforce the castle. They must protect the King and Queen at all costs. As to our homeland, keep the Island safe. I will return as soon as I can, there is much for me to do now and there is no time to waste."

"Yes, Oh Great One." the guard said and then all five rushed out of the room.

"Come, my little friend," Valoo spoke to the surprised fisherwoman. "Let us be on our way. You need to see something, I will show you as a token for your warning."

She hesitated at first, but then she obeyed. Valoo picked her up with his strong paw and placed her on top of his back just near his wings. She grabbed a hold of the Dragon's neck with her arms, tightening them around it. Moments later, Valoo and Alecia flew out of the volcano's chamber.

As Valoo proceeded to fly south, both of them took a quick look out to the east, and from that high vantage point, both girl and Dragon were able to see a mushroom-like fireball still burning out to the east. They barely caught a glimpse of it before it started to fade.

From high above, Alecia did not have the nerve to stare down. She, as many other mortals did, had many fears, one of them was heights. The wind beat on her face like a splash of water, but Alecia sunk lower and used Valoo's neck as protection from it.

The Dragon Valoo flew swiftly to the south. Alecia began to encourage herself as the minutes went by. Moments later, she was staring down at the world below and yelling in glee, for it felt great to be flying way up high so...near the stars.

I wonder what it is that makes you think it is better than the last one. By my own thinking,-.- the other one I had going was way better. Here is why: I was being way too descriptive with it. If I recall correctly, even Shadsie like it, she approved, and that made me feel good, knowing that Shadsie, who is a great writer herself, liked what I had going.

This new story, though, I feel like I didn't get too many people to sign up for it. -.- That is why I had to include a few made up characters, just so I could complete a cast for it. I had to nag my sister to submit a character. (Yuki) she did not have time to post it up herself, so I just included her as a Dragir.

Anyway, I am rushing this story, just so you know, but perhaps you can tell by the way the last chapters are written...not too much description going on, just chatter.

Oh. but I do wanna finish something, and so I will continue on to Chapter 10 and close it out. Next will be the prequel, and I will definitely linger with that one and be over-descriptive. You'll see the change, I promise. I will show you people just how descriptive I can be. :P

Thanks! I'm probably going to make it a pet project of mine to try and draw the whole cast for the story, one by one as time allows. I'll probably have to improvise a tad on some of the designs, so the more descriptions on the characters the better. *hint hint to everyone who's made a character*

Chapter 7

Moving to Action

Mother and Child Island, still same night

"The fun part has arrived for us, it appears," Yosh announced to his demon ally. Both individuals still stood in the middle of Child Island, compliment to Mother Island, a much bigger Island where yellow Chu Chus appeared the most now adays. That is what the two of them had been feeding off lately: yellow Chu Chus.

"The fun part ended when I dismantled the last of your weak skeletons," Ark replied, satisfied. He was staring out to the north, where an explosion had surprised them and had even made them hit the ground moments ago. None of the two had seen the ball of energy trespassing the air as it had been sent out from the Forsaken Fortress. No, they hadn't, and so the explosion had rocked them and had made them kiss the ground.

"You'll never understand," Yosh chuckled, taking it to heart that his pet would never understand the reality of that explosion. "My dear demon friend, you will never understand. Come, it is time for us to move on. The Sword and Dirk fools might already be sailing in two different directions, expecting to find battle against the Hyrulean armies. Fools they are. There will be nothing to battle."

"Every being from this surface world is a fool," Ark stated with a growl. "I have spent seven thousand years watching them from below. Our race is far more advanced and powerful. They might of had developed weapons and other mighty artifacts, but I will prove just how weak they really are."

Yosh nodded at him, thinking that his small friend was really just a fool. He could have his fun saying this and that, or doing this or that. His time to help the cause had arrived, the white robed wizard thought. He smiled lightly, but his smile did not pass unnoticed, Ark managed to see him smiling mischievously.

"And so I ask you now, my good friend," Yosh quickly said. "Tell me, are your blades ready for real action?"

"Eh?" the demon was caught off-guard. For a second there the Jyy thought that his Master had been plotting something against him. He endured the thought and stared hard at him, to which Yosh simple stared back. No, the demon thought, impossible, his dear Master would not be planning something against him. Ark Mantrios had been observing all races from below, he knew humans were the deceptive ones, not Dragirs. Dragirs had usually lived by a code of honor among themselves and the other races. Yosh, however, was now an exception. He had stomped on that code of honor the minute he had given up his old friend's true identity to the red haired woman. Yes, Yosh had turned his back on his own race by acting stupidly in favor of the humans. Could the demon really trust in him to deliver his promises to him?

"Am I ready for real action, Master? Buahaha, of course I am. Tell me what I should do."

"I'll explain along the way as we move," Yosh said and started to motion his arms in an attempt to call forth his magical abilities. He was going to create a portal that would take them instantly to another destination, one where they would find lots of fun and a place where he would obtain another of the power stones.

An arching magical doorway soon appeared at the side where they stood, Ark glancing at the magical, glowing runes that would make it work. His Master was a fast creator, probably the most efficient Magician the demon had come to know. He felt honored to be working with him.

"Where is this door taking us to?"

"Nowhere else but to one of the gardens outside of Zelda Castle. I was there visiting a month ago, I managed to get permission to see one of the fountains where a statue of young King Link was erected. It is there where we are going, my friend. The attack on Castle Zelda has come. Queen Zelda, Tetra, or Princess Zelda, whatever you want to call her...She has possession of the Aqua Stone, and she does not even know it. We go in, take the stone from her, subdue her and move out. I will handle that job, you on the other hand, my friend, are free to play with the castle guards. There will be many!"

"But I thought you had said that you would let that red haired lass and her army do the dirty job. We were to steal the stone from her once she had done everything in Castle Zelda."

"Change of plans," Yosh simply said. "I think that if we go and take it ourselves, we will become more powerful by holding two of the three stones. When those ships arrive, we will also take care of them and kill two birds at the same time."

The demon pondered on the new change of plans from his Master. He then nodded, approvingly.

"What about King Link?" the demon was already drooling on the action to come. "Is he mine to dispose of as well?"

"I really don't care about an old blasted fool who use to be the hero of Hyrule. I am more interested in confronting worthy foes like Madussa and Omega Blaster."

"Careful, Master," the demon growled. "Remember that it was he who took Ganon down. Rumors say that the mighty sword he possesses is strong against anything. And they say King Link can still fight as if he was but thirty years old. You do well by not taking him lightly, I sure don't."

"Hahaha," Yosh laughed wickedly. "That is why I have you, Ark of Mantrios. Tonight is the night you show me your worth....You will put your race's reputation on the line. Can a demon, one who cut his way through Dragirian hordes, succeed against foes from the surface?"

"The more fun for me, then," Ark licked his mouth. "I will dispatch them all before you even acquire that stone you are seeking. Getting to King Link will not be a hard task for me, humans do not measure up to a Dragir, much less to a Jyy like me. I know how to find my ways...I did so those centuries ago in Dragiria, remember? More than a hundred mighty Dragir, your own kin, were sent after me. I gave them all a taste of the floor, the tower was left a true mess before I finished with them...I made sure to have my fun before escaping. So dealing with those fools who might be guarding the King will be easy peasy. I'll be sure to leave a much bigger mess this time around."

"Yes, but we don't know how many guard him at the moment, you fool. Be assured that there will be plenty of guards, though, and all experts with the blade."

Ark rose an eyebrow and showed his Master a hurt face.

"And there could also be wizards. I heard Queen Zelda enlisted the aid of magical creatures."

"The more the merrier," Ark was becoming agitated, desperate to go and take care of business. "Shall we? It's getting late."

For a long minute, Yosh stood staring at his demon pet. "Sure, why not?"

It was the demon who rushed into the portal, followed by Yosh, the Dragir wizard.

Oh no, no, you see...that's the point of the story. Who is the one who is going to gut Link? The Dragirs? Or the Jyy? Or will it be the Red Haired lass? Valoo, as a traitor? lol

That is still to be seen. Also, maybe the reader does not know this but there is a 3rd Power Stone and missing...who's got that one? I've mentioned nothing on that...

The next Chapter introduces three characters that have been mentioned already.

Chapter 8

Sailing In a Sea of Doubts

Rad had not wasted any time. As soon as he had packed the most valuable stuff he thought he would need for the coming road ahead, he had almost rushed out to the main courtyard of the Forsaken Fortress. The mistress had made sure to pay him handsomely for his efforts. Rad took all those treasures with him, they would come handy.

The security lights that scanned the fortress from several angles were not the only sources of light in the place, there were torches set up on the walls.

Soldiers that were scattered about glanced at him but made no move to stop him. The Mistress had given orders months ago that Rad was free to go wherever he wanted to as long as he did not try to escape.

Rad was not surprised to see the red haired woman waiting for him near the area that seemed to be the place where ships docked at the Fortress. There were no docks, just an area made of stone. This is where the woman had been waiting for him, knowing that he would have to sail out on a boat or a ship. She had her arms crossed and was staring out at the ocean, her back turned to him.

Three large ships and two small boats were docked near. The smaller boats had enchanted engines attached to them. Rad knew he needed one in order to leave the island.

"I will be needing a boat in order to depart," Rad said. She nodded as she kept her calm stance and her back to him.

"Take the one you wish," she said, her tone soft. Despite feeling a bit disappointed at the Dragir for not having joined her, she could not blame him. Rad, the creature that had trained her small army, was a rightful being, fighting for a good cause.

"And my family? Where can I find them?"

The mistress waited a few seconds before giving him the answer. "Eastern fairy Island. You will find them there within the fairy's cave. There is a strong magical ward placed there, so you will need to dispel it. Just utter your name when you are asked the question and the path will open for you."

"I see," Rad nodded, believing in her. There was no way he knew for sure if she was telling the truth but Rad had to trust her. She had been true to her word ever since he had been captured...

Without saying anything else, Rad headed away to the closest boat, which was of a white color. He boarded the boat, prepared the engine and then glanced over his shoulder to see the masked woman staring at him. The engine roared to life and then Rad found himself at the helm.

Minutes later, he was off and away. He was troubled by many different thoughts, but the Dragir knew that he had to sort them out and place them in categories. The most important task was one he could not fail to complete. First he had to find his Dragir ex-friend Yosh, whom he thought was more important at the moment, for he possessed one of the power stones. If the mistress was only after the crown that rightfully belonged to Queen Zelda and King Link, then Rad not need to worry about her at the moment, first he would attempt to find his dear friend of old and have a confrontation with him, not to mention make him pay for his evil deed those centuries ago. Yes, Rad would go all out against him, he would not hesitate to draw his Sword of the Meek against him.

But then, Rad started to see the matter differently. Was Yosh acting alone? Was he accompanied, and if so, were there any other Dragirs with him? If this was the case, which ones? Rad knew a good number of his kin had survived Dragiria's catastophe, they had to. As to how many actually and who exactly, he was not sure. That fateful dark day had separated them all apart. The only Dragir that had survived at his side had been Yosh himself, but then they had had a disagreement on the island where they had landed. Yosh did not want for them two to go out in search of other Dragirs, Rad did, especially since he knew that he must make sure that the royal family had managed to survive unscathed. As Captain of Dragiria, that had been his most important task, to protect the royals.

Yosh had assured the Captain of Dragiria that the royal family was in good hands with a secrete elite Dragir squad that belonged to him, to Yosh. According to Yosh, he had selected that squad to secure the royal family foremost when the trouble had started, and so Rad decided to listen to his friend, for he had trusted him like a brother. Back then, Yosh had been a Captain Dragir as well, but he was not a warrior one, he commanded the magic based Dragirs, not the warriors that Rad commanded.

So Yosh had thought of a few plans that they needed to take care of first before they went out in an attempt to find their kin. They were to find out who had been the one responsible behind Dragiria's demise. Without the Dark stone's power to bestow long lasting life to them, they would age and die, and so they would need to find the miserable dastard who had done the evil deed and make him or her pay for it. Aside from that, the Dragirs had no power whatsoever. What with Dragiria, their powerful city sunk underneath the ocean, so had sunk their power with it. They had lost it all but their lives and a few essentials...Sothey had known that they'd had to think about what they were going to do to keep themselves hidden from the view of the other races that had shared the oceans and lands with them. Having them take a look at them would sure had been trouble for them, so the two Dragirs had known that they had had to do many things before going out into the unknown.

Those other races had not known about Dragiria at all, but the Dragirs had known of them. The crystal city had been un-existent to the naked eye, the big piece of land that had been Dragiria had been surrounded with multiple wards and powerful spells that ensured the city's invisibility. These powerful wards would make any sea traveler turn away from the place, giving them awful thoughts and frightening sensations. Aside from that, there were other spells that Dragirian guards uttered to the wind and sea, these so that they could bring strong storms and never before seen happenings in the place. For many generations, people had thought the northern sea was a rough place to sail to, even dangerous beyond anything else. The weather changed at will there and many who went looking for adventure were never heard from again.

Rad thought about Yosh for a long time as the boat kept sailing away to the west. Was he really the one responsible for the demise of Dragiria? If he had been, Rad closed his eyes and felt like an idiot. If Yosh had been the one truly behind the act, he'd had him in front of him ever since that fateful dark day...

But Rad had his doubts too. Yosh could be in possession of the stone, yes, but that did not mean he'd had it all this time, nor that he was the one behind it all. The stone could of had found its way to him somehow. Could it be that Yosh had found other Dragirs before he, Rad, had? Could it be that Yosh had found the ones responsible and had made them pay and taken the stone from them? Rad wanted to believe that was the case, that his friend had managed to find the power stone, their source of life.

But Yosh had told that red haired pirate who he was. He swore to him that he would never betray him like that. Apparently he had. Thinking that, Rad was set on his heels, for another troubling thought came to him. What if the red haired lass had lied to him all along? What if Yosh had no stone? What if she was the one who had the stone now? Was Yosh even alive now? Had the red haired lass forced him to tell her many of the secrets of the past then disposed of him?

As he maneuvered the helm expertly, for Rad was no novice when it came to conducting a small boat such as the one he road in at the moment, he pondered whether he had been lied to, deceived big time. For a moment Rad thought about turning the boat back to the Forsaken Fortresss, that evil place that had once been the lair of Ganon, a mighty foe that had almost won the day in an attempt to rule the world.

Rad did not turn the boat. Instead he pondered on...What was the red haired gal really after? Just the crown...or was she after what the old legends called: Power over-all? And that mask that she wore...Why did she wear it? Those emerald green eyes...To who did they belong? Had Rad seen them before?

He shook his head and dismissed the notion. It had been centuries since Dragiria had come to its end, Rad remembered stuff but not all of it. And he was a creature of the world, his thoughts faded too, they did not last forever.

Rad went back to the Stone's thoughts. If the pirate lass meant to acquire all three Power Stones, she would have access to the All-Mighty's son resting place, call him forth for a challenge and if she won she would have this world all for her as a prize.

That legend had just been that to Rad, a legend. He never thought that the stone that had been Dragiria's seal of power could be one of the stones mentioned in the legends.

Rad glanced up the star-lit sky to calm himself. He felt tensed and stupid...he did not really know what was going on. Possibilities tugged at him from every angle. As he shifted his stare out to the sea, the Dragir thought that he was sailing along a sea of doubts.

His eyes focused back on the stars, the Dragir calmed and became at peace with himself. How beautiful a sight his reddish eyes found in those stars.

For all those centuries that he had been alive, the Dragir had always stared at the beauty of the night sky. Rad had believed that a greater power watched over the world. In the most of old tales that he knew that supreme being was simply known as the All-Mighty, for there was nothing this being could not do and there was no other being compared to him or her.

The trip to Eastern Fairy Island would take two days at most. Days in which Rad would be having time to think the matter thoroughly. He settled down a bit and continued to ride without too many worries in his head. If his family was alive and well at Eastern Fairy Island, then the Dragir would get to see his human parents and a lovely young lady who he had been getting to know better since a year ago.

Chapter 9

Castle Zelda

Zelda Castle had been reconstructed way to the south over the largest island of Five-Star Isles. Surrounding the main island were four other small islands, all which had been upgraded into garrisons. Zelda Castle was well protected from all angles. Both mages and warriors occupied themselves maintaining great vigilance over the place. Two of the surrounding islands had magic academies and magical towers where mages did their studying and research. The other two were more suited for warriors of assorted kinds. Knights and regular soldiers patrolled every angle possible of Five-Star Isles.

But that was not all. Five-Star Isles was also patrolled by many boats that carried soldiers. They called themselves the Hyrulean CoastGuard.

From above in the sky, Alecia could see just how well fortified Zelda Castle was. And yet she could not avoid but feel nervous after what Valoo had told her moments earlier. That would not be enough!

A super enemy was aiming to over throw the current rulers, but not only that, Valoo had mentioned that this power hungry enemy also wanted full dominion over the world, and for that, that person needed to acquire three Power Stones.

Alecia was glad that they were about to land, the trip had been sort of long and her buttocks hurt a bit as well as her arms from having been holding tight to Valoo ever since they had departed.
Valoo had assured her that their trip ended at Five-Star Isles. It was there that Alecia would get to see what Valoo had wanted to show her. She was desperate to lay eyes on whatever it was that Valoo had in store for her.

The guards that were guarding the outside of the massive castle did not even stir when they saw Valoo approaching to land. They knew that the Dragon was friendly. Several though did become curious as to who it was that was riding on his back.

Once Valoo touched ground, Alecia dismounted with a hearty jump. The lass was eager to find out what was going on. To begin with, she did not even know why Valoo had decided to involve her in all this. All those thoughts faded as a guard approached them from the stairway that led to the inside of the castle.

"Valoo, oh venerated Red Dragon," the guard, who was well armored, said. "The castle doors are open to you twenty-four-seven. Queen Zelda had informed us that you would be coming, so we were waiting for you. If you will, please follow me, I am your escort tonight. I will take you to see the King and Queen."

"Lead the way," Valoo uttered. "Alecia, come along, dear, you cannot stay behind site seeing."

Alecia, who had been contemplating the glory of the huge castle and its viewable surroundings, nodded and followed after the guard and Valoo. It was dark, possibly close to midnight already, she thought, but the castle was well lit by torches and magical balls that emanated light. so Alecia, in her examination of the castle did not miss much.

The inside of the castle was a sight to see. All was royal-like. The ivory, tall walls had many frames set on them, and the floor was composed of several different kind of marble stone. It was all gleaming of cleanliness and it smelt fresh and inviting to the senses. Ten steps she had barely took inside and Alecia was already liking it here. Guards stood watch at the sides of the corridor, many holding spears and others just stood straight.

The guard led them across several wide corridors that offered the same view: frames on the wall, soldier guards and marbled floor as well as the inviting smell. They ran into groups of people who took care of keeping the castle clean, these ranged from cooks to servants and even gardeners and other attendants that took care of delivering water and snacks to the guards. Alecia, by glancing at how wonderfully armored and armed were the guards, believed that she would perhaps one day apply for a job as a soldier of Queen Zelda and King Link. She could easily do the job they appear to be doing at the moment, just stand guard against a wall, how hard could that be?

Finally, they arrived to the throne room, which was by far the biggest room they had seen. It had also more adornments and less guards. Those few guards that were milling about were elite guards, the elite royal guard. These were burlier looking and were well armored with the best weapons that the realm could afford.

Queen Zelda was the only of the two rulers present at the time that Valoo, the soldier and Alecia entered the room. She was old now at seventy five years of age, but she still possessed some of her beauty and her elegance. No one in the realm would ever think that their Queen was a withered ruler, to all Hyruleans she was still as pretty as a new sunrise and a sundown.

The guard fell on one knee and Alecia did the same. However, at Valoo's insistence, she stood back up and faced directly at the Queen. The guard then took his leave.

Alecia noticed the fine jewelry and the royal, the three-point golden crown and the white and blue dress of the Queen. She was a sight to see, a splendor for sure, but the pendant she wore around her neck was what called the eye's attention.

"Valoo, you have arrived," Zelda said as she stood up from her majestic throne, a tone of happiness in her voice. "And you have brought a friend along, I see."

"Yes, Queen Zelda. It is imperative that we take care of our business, I sense trouble coming here. Where is the King?" Valoo asked, but not desperate. "And where are the two young woman that I sent here?"

Queen Zelda came down from her throne area to stand in front of Valoo and the girl, who she believed was a pretty lass. She shared a cordial glance with Alecia, who smiled in return at the glory of her majesty.

"Calm yourself, dear old friend," Queen Zelda said, her tone delicate. "The castle is well guarded and King Link went to see to it that the guests get a proper tour of our precious home."

"This is Alecia," Valoo decided that it would be best to introduce his companion to the Queen.

"Alecia, what a beautiful name. It sure goes well with your looks, honey."

"You flatter me, your majesty," Alecia felt like blushing, she even felt hot on the inside. So warm a feeling washed over her entire body that she glanced to the floor quite embarrassed. "I am but a simple fisherwoman."

"Come," the Queen said as she grabbed Alecia's hands with her own, making Alecia stare back at her. The Queen smiled at her placidly, easing all the trouble from the young one's face. "Don't be so modest, child. You remind me of myself...of those glorious teen years I spent as a Pirate...only to turn later into a Queen. Oh, but those were the years..." Alecia shared a charming smile with the Queen then. The Queen smiled back the same way. "Come, let us go to one of the gardens, my guests have decided to wait for us there. Ever since they came here, they have been taking tours around the castle."

Guests? Alecia thought. Who were these guests that Valoo had sent here? She said nothing but only followed the Queen's lead, Valoo went behind them, taking care to walk easy over the fine, marbled floor. He was a heavy being, and so he had to take care not to take heavy steps when walking. Every soldier that was around or came in the presence of the Queen bowed as she went by the corridors.

Chapter 9 Continued

A royal looking Link was found sharing a laugh with the two women that Valoo had spoken of. Queen Zelda, Alecia and Valoo found them in one of the gardens laughing heartily perhaps at a joke that someone had told. Link was dressed in royal, silvery armor. He was a bit broader than what he had been as a young boy. He also wore a light silvery goatee on his face, his hair short and white as snow.

As to the women, they were too far away that Alecia could not tell their looks as the trio advanced toward them. She could tell that they were dressed in fine, silky dresses and wore many bracelets and collars. The shortest of the two had brownish, silky hair, and she was very beautiful. As to her friend, who was a tad bit taller, she had short, reddish hair and her eyes were grayish in color. Their skin color was tan. When Alecia and the rest got closer, Alecia noticed just how exotic they seem to be.

"My beautiful wife! Valoo! And...new beauty, come..." Link bade them happily when he saw them approaching. "I was just retelling our guests an incident I suffered at the hands of my dear wife when I was naught but a boy."

"Which incident would that be?" Queen Zelda smiled as the group crowded to form a circle, Valoo decided to remain behind Alecia and the Queen, nonetheless, he did not feel left out.

"Oh, just that time when you ordered your boys to launch me using one of the canons of your ship. Who is this beautiful girl?"

"Alecia," Zelda responded, Alecia bowed before the King. He waved a hand at her dismissively as if she did not have to do that.

"Alecia, eh? Welcome to the castle, Alecia, feel right at home."

"Thank you your majesty, I will." she barely said it audible enough, she was nervous to be in front of both the Queen and King. Or perhaps the two exotic woman had set her more nervous. They glanced at her briefly before moving their gazes away.

"And Valoo, my friend," Link glanced at the Red Dragon. "You seem troubled...and under what we have come to learn recently from the messengers you sent, I see why you do. Be at ease, I've tightened the security all over the isles and if anything dares to come at us, we'll know for sure. Only fools would dare to attack us this time around."

"Good thinking, King Link. You did well," Valoo said. "But still I think it wont be enough. The Pirate clans have started moving in from the west, I saw the fleets with my own eyes. And there is this new threat..." Valoo glanced over at the two rare looking woman. "Yuki, Janine...have you two shared the information you spoke to me about with the King and Queen?"

All eyes went to them, even Alecia's, for she was intrigued of what Valoo had said about the pirate fleets moving in toward the castle itself.

"We've saved some of the information," the red haired lass spoke. "Yuki thought it would be best if we shared this information with you and the royal leadership together in a secret meeting."

"I see," Valoo said from his place. He glanced over at Link, of whom he had many fond memories. "My King, it is your call. Do you wish to call a meeting right now?"

"Under the circumstances, I don't see why not, dear friend. I will arrange it myself. My love," Link turned his gaze upon Zelda, walked to her and grabbed her hands. He clutched them and kissed them tenderly, then said, "Will you be kind enough as to take them to the secret room? I shall be waiting there for you all."

"Yes, dear, of course," Zelda said and then kissed his hands in return.

"Very well," Link smiled at the group. "I will be waiting." He left afterwards, leaving the quintet to the beautiful smells of the garden's assorted flowers and plants. Zelda had made sure that a great variety of flowers and plants grew in her gardens, many of the flowers and plants had been brought from other far away islands.

For a moment, Alecia allowed herself to become distracted to the other beauties that were all over the garden. There were statues carved of stone, both of heroes and soldiers and of assorted sizes. There were also several fountains in the middle and even benches where people could sit to enjoy the view. Several guards were about and they seem to enjoy patrolling their area. Just then, as she stared to the north where there laid many bushes and trees, Alecia thought she saw a dim sparkle of light and then a shadow moving behind the trees. The light had disappeared as soon as she had seen it. She rubbed her eyes quickly and glanced back...There was nothing there to be seen but the bushes.

"Alecia," she suddenly heard Valoo calling her, and she was startled. She snapped her head back to him, feeling stupid for having immersed herself completely to the beauty of the garden that she had not been able to hear him speaking to her. "It is time for us to be making our way to the secret chamber, the Queen and her two lovely guests have already left."

"Right, Valoo. Let us proceed, and sorry, I thought I saw a shadow and a sparkle of light over there yonder."

"What?" Valoo questioned, surprised. "Where, Alecia?"

Alecia pointed out with her right hand to the spot where she had seen the brief sparkle of light.

Valoo looked as close as he could with his fine sight. Alecia did so as well, saying, "Shall we go take a look, Valoo?"

Valoo stared hard at the area that the beautiful girl had pointed out. There was nothing there but bushes and trees. "We...must not keep the royals waiting, my dear friend. But I will let the guards know so that they can look into it."

Alecia nodded, then said. "Valoo. What thing did you want me to see? Have we come to that part yet? Did I miss anything?"

"No, you have not seen it yet, neither have King Link nor Queen Zelda. We are drawing close to that, now come along..."

She followed Valoo back to the opening that would take them back into the castle. She thought it was a good thing that they were heading indoors, for the wind had started to feel cold.

The room was not large but it was as striking as the rest of the castle. A rectangular table sat in the middle, with six chair on each side and one at each end. The table was made of fine wood, but it was covered with a white, silky cloth, and there were candle holders on top of the table and several golden bowls with assorted fruit.

There were also a few picture frames on the walls, mostly of knights of some renown under the service of the banner of Hyrule, Generals as they were also called: the leaders of lesser combatants on the battle field, strategists who knew how to take command of a legion of soldiers, use their services effectively and use tactics and terrain to their advantage on the battle fields. Those highly renown knights is what every Hyrulean soldier aspired to be.

Alecia took heart at seeing the frames when she entered the room. The temperature was normal, as it had been felt all over the rest of the rooms she had visited. Valoo also came into the room, every door in the castle had been made wide at the orders of Link, for Valoo had promised to come visiting him and Zelda often. The mighty Dragon did not have trouble entering a room, every part of the castle had been thoroughly planned.

"So here we are," Link said. "Please sit, my friends."

Valoo had to simply stand, there was no chair big enough for him and the Dragon had never asked for one to be at the ready for him. He knew this room was where Link addressed his generals and made his planning.

"Please begin," Link told the two exotic women. All eyes shifted to their side, for they sat opposite of Queen Zelda and Alecia, who had sat beside the Queen herself at her invitation; Zelda had called her over with a signal of her hand and Alecia had gone to sit next to her. She was her Queen, and she would never do anything to disrespect her, much less in her own castle. Link sat on one of the ends of the table. He also reached to one of the bowls and grabbed a handful of grapes and started eating as he decided to pay attention to what the women had to say.

"Well," the red haired woman spoke. It appeared to Alecia that she was the most important of the two, for she had always taken the lead when speaking. "We have already shared information with Valoo, and he has shared with you, King Link. What you don't know though, is crucial, beneficial or perhaps it will dismay you to hear and see it."

"Yes?" Link said, feeling ready for it.

Valoo reached in for a small apple from one of the bowls and gulped it down in one swallow, he just tossed it into his mouth and that was that. After he was done eating the apple, he said, "Now pay attention, you three, this is what I wanted to show you."

"You wanted to show me how it is that you eat an apple?" laughed Alecia, King Link could not contain himself and followed the fisherwoman's lead with a laugh of his own.

"No, no," Valoo shook his head. "Just look at our dear guests."

They did, directing their eyes upon the two exotic women.

"Yuki, it is time..." the woman spoke as she turned to look at her friend. They both stood at the same time, the rest of the group glancing at their action. Suddenly, Alecia gasped and perhaps Queen Zelda did too when the two women started to shape shift before their eyes. Link too, was shocked to see the revelation, but he did not gasp, rather he rose his eyebrows in surprise. Small horns appeared on top of the women's head and also dark wings on their backs appeared and scales here and there. Their eyes too took another form and color. Only their hair remained the same, and part of their humanly looks.

"We are not Human," the red haired being spoke.

"We can see that," Link said more in a joking tone than a scared one. "What are you? I...have never seen anything like you before..."

"We are Dragirs," the other one decided to speak for the first time, her voice more juvenile sounding than her friend's. "A race that has been living in secret for many generations. We...my dear friend Janine and I, believe that we are not the only ones of our kin alive. We believe that there are more of us scattered across the continent."

Link and Zelda glanced at each other, as to Alecia, she glanced at Valoo, who nodded back at her with a wink as he murmured, "Allies."

"Allies?" Link managed to hear Valoo. He looked at the Dragirs for confirmation on this.

"Of course, King Link," the red haired one spoke. "We've never been your enemies, rather we look at ourselves as your guardians."

"What? Why?" Link was interested in knowing, so was Zelda, who was scrutinizing the new look of the women. She did not think they were hideous at all, rather she knew they looked special, exotic, unique. The same thing thought Alecia, but she was mesmerized to know that before her stood two women that were new species to her eyes. Alecia had known humans, elves, Koroks, Rito and many monster kin...but never anything like the Dragirs.

"We have always lived in secret...away from the rest races of the surface world," the one with the younger tone in her voice went on to explain. "Our realm was known as Dragiria...that realm fell three chiliads ago, something unexplained happened that unbalanced our realm. It happened so quickly and unexpectedly that no one in the realm knew what was going on...before we knew it...our precious realm began to crumble...." the Dragir's voice trembled, and she sobbed, also fallling to her knees. She covered her face with her hands as the other one kneeled down to console her. King Link stood up and also knelt beside the Dragir, offering his hands to hers. This gesture made the red haired one stare at Link. Alecia glanced over at Valoo and then at Queen Zelda, who seemed sad.

"The sea swallowed our realm, Good King," the other one said from her kneeling position as she eyed the old man. "It was located to the north, nothing remains of it, all is under the sea..." She stood up, as did her colleague. Link followed shortly. "Many of our kin were killed the moment disaster struck, many were caught unawares. Still...as our realm crumbled around us and the mighty tsunamis began to inundate the place, we of the Shayla order were doing battle against an unknown foe. That foe killed many of our friends. We believe that figure was the one responsible for everything. We did not get a view of the creature, its magic was strong, but we did smell the rancid smell that is said to reside in the land of the undead, the underworld, Madussa's domain. Our squad leader thought that the one responsible was a demon, she did not make it to confirm it...she fell during the assault on the tower, more than a hundred faithful followers fell with her as well. We intended to keep on fighting until the end, but a mighty wave suddenly took us by surprise and so we were unable to do so...Last thing I remember seeing of my realm
was the arcane tower spike."

Link could not find the right words, so he looked upon Zelda and then at Valoo for help.

"They have spent their lives on the surface living as regular humans," Valoo took over. "In order to morph into another body, the Dragirs had to kill that owner of the body they wished to become...in this case...these two women did it out of necessity, they did not want to be seen as what they were...they thought we Hyruleans and the other races would not look upon them with fair eyes. To tell you the truth, King Link, I don't think we would have...and I do speak for every race out there."

"I understand," Link nodded. "We would of had reacted harshly against them, worse than how we normally react when we see a monster. We would of had made them to be some sort of monster, wretches that remained from Ganon's days. We would of had attacked them...Don't feel ashamed...you did what you had to in order to preserve your kind."

"The question now would be what?" Queen Zelda got in the conversation. "Do we hold a massive world reunion and let the world know of their existence?"

"Pardon, Queen Zelda," Valoo interrupted. "These Dragirs came to our aid, not us to theirs."

That drew a stare from both King and Queen and even Alecia, who was flabbergasted of it all.

"Go on," Link bade the Dragon.

"They claim to know what is going on. From what they told me, I believe it is true. I believe that our enemies are not just after the crown that rightfully belongs to you two. The Legend of Omega Blaster speaks of three Power Stones."

"Yes, we have heard of it," Zelda said. "Although not in all its entirety, our records and legend books lack parts and are not considered to be genuine."

"That blue stone you carry as a pendant, Queen," Valoo said solidly. "That is enough claim and proof for them...a similar stone was what the Dragirs venerated as their Power Seal."

Zelda, more than astonished glanced down at the pendant that hung from her delicate, old neck. She had received that pendant from Link himself many years ago when they were still in their mid forties. Link had gone on an adventure with his generals and had returned with the rare stone he had found hidden in the sand at Rock Spire Island. He then had his best mages turn the stone into a pendant for his dear wife, and now, many years later, she still wore it as a necklace.

Link was unable to say anything on the matter. For him, things got more interesting as the minutes went by. First a new race had appeared before him, a lovely race...and now...the talk about Power Stones and the legend of Omega Blaster, the All-Mighty's son.

Touching the pendant, Zelda spoke slowly, "This Stone?"

"Is a Power Stone," Valoo nodded. "These Dragirs came to know that you possessed it after the rumors were spread about it. That made them go to me, where I learn their story and their true identity. So now...this stone is one that the enemy is after if my assertions are correct. I do believe I am correct...even Qhuwheiyar has risen from the deeps, he senses the world is under threat again.”

“Who is that?”

“Qhuwheiyar?” Valoo glanced at the King. Link nodded in return.

“An old friend. This lovely young lady had the privilege of meeting him face to face.”

Link’s glance landed on Alecia. “You did?”

“Yes, My King,” she answered. “It was such a big creature...I was certain I would die from the encounter, but I am still here, the guardian did not want to hurt me, rather he became entangled under my fishing pole’s hook by accident and wanted nothing more than to free himself.”

“I do wish to hear this story of yours completely,” Link winked at the young girl. “But for now--”

Several heavy knocks came on the door, but before the six occupants of the room could glance over at it, a loud booming noise like that of an explosion was heard not too far away. The walls of the room shooked violently.

“My lord, we are under attack!” came the guard’s frightened shout from outside the door. “Hordes of monsters! There are monsters outside the castle!”

Chapter 10

Ascendancy of the Last

The magical doorway had vanished as soon as Yosh the wizard came out. Thanks to the wizard's cunning abilities, he had chosen a good spot for the doorway to appear.

The heavy brush and trees surrounding the location he had chosen had surely saved them from getting spotted. To be safe, though, Yosh had told Ark to hit the ground as soon as they came out of the door.

With their chests kissing the grassy ground, they both glanced about, noticing that the gardens were well patrolled and then...the wizard noticed the large figure of a Red Dragon a few hundred feet from their position, a young girl who was clad in ivory clothing also stood beside him.

“Valoo,” Yosh whispered but loud enough for his demon pet to hear.

The demon had also taken notice of the ancient guardian. “What the heck is he doing here? There were only suppose to be guards, Master, so why is he here?”

“I don’t know,” Yosh shook his head as he continued to stare at the great Dragon. “But it is better to remain hidden, it appears that he is looking over here. Stay as you are, make no sudden movements.”

Ark didn’t even dare breath for a few seconds. He knew how ferocious a Dragon could be, especially the Guardian Dragon, one of two that had been placed in the world. The other Dragon Ark knew too well, it was the Guardian that kept the demons sealed in their world. She was the one who kept watch over a magical portal, her name was Hefasty, a mighty Red just like Valoo. When the duo saw the Dragon and the girl leaving, they sighed in relief.

“Having a fiery Red Dragon breathing fire on us would of not had been a pleasant sight.”

“I hear you, Master. So what now?”

Yosh did not respond, rather he glanced about from behind his cover. “We managed to make it here without being detected. The magic wards I set here did their job, the guards will not show up here, they’ll be discomforted and confused and will go away. So fear not, as long as no one sees us, nobody will have the necessity to come looking here."

A few minutes later, a group of five guards came rushing from the direction that Valoo and the girl had disappeared to.

“Yosh, guards approaching fast!”

“Sit tight,” Yosh cried, silently as possible. “The wards will do their work.”

“Are you sure?”

“I am sure.”

The demon hoped the wizard was right, but he also hoped that they were discovered, he felt a rushing sensation pass over his body, a sensation that was more like anxiety. Yes, Ark of Mantrios wanted nothing more than to charge at the guards and begin the assault--nay, the slaughter --upon Zelda Castle.

The wards did their work, Yosh’s magic was potent. The guards stopped short of arriving the exact point of their location. Some begin to cough and feel nauseous while others looked disoriented and at each other.

“There is nothing amiss here,” the leader of the pack said as he scanned the area. The wind felt cold and caused the branches and leaves from the trees to dance as if excited. “Let us be on our way.”

The guards felt strange, but they nodded and then followed their leader back into the castle.

“Told you,” Yosh said with a grand smile, "I am without equal.”

“So you are, Master,” Ark then decided to lift himself from the ground as if he was about to start a sequence of push-ups. He knelt lowly on one knee and scanned the area. Castle Zelda was well defended. There was a great deal of soldiers keeping watch, but the castle’s folly had been not to construct any balconies up high that might have served as watch posts. No guards could be seen above, just the high white walls.

“We will need a diversion, Ark,” Yosh also knelt beside his pet. “With my dark stone I will call forth minions, when they appear, it will happen fast, the castle guard will be alerted almost immediately, so we have to move fast and into the castle where our priorities are. The King and Queen must be in there, and to have found Valoo’s presence here tells me that they are expecting trouble, that is why there are so many guards placed about. Valoo must of had sensed trouble...but nonetheless, we will go on as planned.”

Ark nodded as he listened on.

“Link is yours to dispose of, find him and deal with him and any other fool that dares stand in your way. If by chance you come upon the Queen, do not harm her, bring her to me alive. If it turns the other way around, if I was to meet with Link, I will make sure I save him for you, my only interest here is obtaining the Aqua Pearl.”

“It shall be done as you say,” Ark said. “I am ready, Master. Call forth your minions so that we can get this show on the road. I promise I will leave a greater mark than I did in Dragiria.”

Yosh stared at the Jyy. Moments later, the wizard Dragir brought out a small white gem from the inside of one of his pockets of his robe. “Very well. Here, my friend, my dear ally. Take this magical gem with you. Use it in case you need to halt time, use it to your advantage, it will give you an edge on the battlefield if you find yourself sorely pressed...trust me when I tell you that there will be many guards inside.”

The Jyy glanced at his Master, then he glanced at the white, shiny gem. It glimmered once in front of him. He reached for it tentatively. “To halt time, eh?”

“I’ll bless you with an anti halting spell so that the gem’s magic does not work on you. Poor those souls that so happen to be in your way if you do use the stone, I do not even want to think what you would do to them.”

The Jyy laughed, wickedly. “Bless me, then.” Then he slipped the gem into a pocket of his own dark robe.

Nodding, Yosh went to work.

Moments later, the wizard brought the dark stone out and contemplated it for a while. The demon, noticing that his Master was wasting time, coughed.

“I was just remembering...the demise of Dragiria,” Yosh said, staring at the demon. “Very well, no time to waste. Better to get those minions out here so that we secure the castle before the Pirate’s people get here. You ready, then, Ark?”

“As I will ever be.”

Yosh went to work, calling forth the summoning powers of his dark stone, stone that he had known had been one of the Power Stones mentioned in the legends of old. Once he had learned that great secret, that was the main reason that had driven him to obtain it.

Very good. I like it. I have but one question ( I may have mentioned this before in the P. M.), How do I join that group of yours? P.S. I'm making a book too, but it doesn't have anything to do with Zelda. I completed 13 Chapters already (sorry if I sound like I'm bragging).

Yes, I noticed that something weird is happening when I post a post here. Right after I click submit reply a white page or a blank one appears and says "flood" Then I guess it is merging the posts or something, or posting them into the other before it.

I dunno, I might pm a mod about it, I am not doing anything wrong. I think it started after chapter 8.

Thanks you all, I feel good knowing that at least people are reading my crap. XD

I edited the posts. Hopefully that is settled.

Lol thanks. I will keep that in mind, perhaps it is just me who thinks too much negativeness about it. Perhaps after I finish this story I will attempt to write a short story, never done one before.

Well, when I started I wrote crappy stuff, I still have a few stories I wrote back when I started. They were really bad, I am not proud to look at them when I do, in fact, they are going to the trash maybe tomorrow. :P

Anyway, you have to start off somewhere, you might think you are not that good at it, but you get better along the way. Soon, you'll see changes. Anyways, I think I am improving but I still need work here and there.

Thanks for your comments--really glad that you like what you read. <3

Yosh and the demon came out of hiding, the Dragir wizard already summoning forth the aid of undead beings through out the five isles. They were quickly spotted as soon as they had come out of their hiding place. A group of guards that had been patrolling the northern garden quickly headed their way, weapons drawn. "Halt, you two!"

"Halt?" Yosh laughed at them as he saw them coming. He tossed a white gem their way and this one activated as an invisible blast when they were about to get to them. The soldiers suddenly found themselves unable to move. "Nay, we cannot halt, my dear guardsmen, we are just about to start with the fun."

The Jyy growled in satisfaction after seeing that the gem he had been given earlier would have the same effect on other guards if he used it.

"What treachery is this?" a guard shouted, the tallest of the bunch and one who wore heavy armor; the captain of the group. The guards' bodies were frozen solidly, but they could still talk and move their eyes about, their faces seemed fear stricken.

"A time stopping gem, fool," Yosh explained as he walked toward them holding both the dark stone and a much satisfied smile in his face.

This garden, he knew, was the first area where the casualties of Castle Zelda would first fall. The soldiers, terrified in their unable to move state, could only watch as the wizard started issuing commands as he moved his arms around in a variety of ways, the dark stone floating in front of him in mid air.

"Minions of Hel, hear my call," Yosh shouted. "Come unto this world and lend me your strength." The dark stone glimmered several times, and then Yosh smiled wickedly at the guards. "It is done, they will be here any second..."

"He's a wizard," one of the guards called out from behind. "We've been caught off guard, damn it!"

A young soldier who had been making his way into the garden from the entrance located at the side of the castle, saw the scene and shouted, "Hey! What is going on!" He was about to rush to his friends aid when he noticed that they were like statues and at the mercy of what apparently seem to be two wizards. He did not, instead, when he noticed that the intruders had set their eyes on him, the soldier turned around and ran back the way he had come as he shouted for help.

"Go, Ark," Yosh shouted. "Get into the castle, follow that soldier...don't let him deliver the warning!"

The Jyy smiled devilishly, brought out his enchanted blades and then ran away after the young soldier as at the same time he began to morph into his real form. How good it felt to be chasing his first victim...

Meanwhile, all over Five Star Isles, boney hands started to come out from underneath the ground. Not just boney hands, but others of different kind as well, for Yosh had summoned not only skeletons but other lesser beings as well.

The guards and mages at the their respective towers around the isle were not caught off guard though, they quickly noticed what was going on and set themselves in motion to respond to the aggression. The questions for all guards and soldiers around the island was the same: Who had dared attack Castle Zelda? And where was this foe at? Were the King and Queen safe?

Monsters rose fully out of the ground before a full minute had elapsed. Soldiers and monsters engaged in combat soon after in all five of the islands that made up Five Star Isles. Both sides suffered losses right from the get go, but even though the monsters seem to be more in numbers, they were also the weaker, and so soon the tide began to favor the more expertly soldiers and mages of Castle Zelda.

Yosh knew this as he saw how the skeletons took care of the poor guards that he had frozen earlier. He knew that the weaklings he had summoned would not be a match for the Zelda defenders. But he was satisfied to know that at least the vast army he had summoned would serve as the distraction they had needed in order to get into Zelda Castle. They would also keep many of the soldiers busy for a while, perhaps the whole night.

To the castle he must go, Yosh thought. That was the place where he would need to call forth stronger minions, but by doing so, his energy as a wizard would also be depleted quicker and perhaps be left in a weakened state. Yosh could not afford to be in a weak state, not now that he was so close to obtaining the second Power Stone.

Uncaring for the well being of those poor soldiers he had frozen in the garden, he ran into the side passage that led into the castle. He knew he would have to be more careful inside, and he would have to step up his game. A Mighty Red was in the house, as well as the King and Queen themselves...not to mention many elite guards.

It is a good story, Viper, but, I think I am not going to continue it. Before any of you jump on me and start pounding on me, Here's why.

The simple truth is that I took a wrong turn...I spoke too much about Dragirs and focused mostly on their story, their past...and so I thought that I should ease up on my created race and instead focus more on the Zelda world. So that is why I brought in "The Pirate" to supplant this story.

Don't feel bad anyway, you shouldn't, I will post one final post in which I crowd together an explanation of what was gonna happen in the story. So you are covered and wont miss anything. What you will miss is some action, character dialogue, but at least you'll get a fine idea of what I had in mind.

Thanks, it's just that I went out of the picture here...Anyway...I'll be working ferociously on The Pirate to bring you a good story...and some consolation. ^^

Aw, that's too bad. But what are you going to do with the giant list of characters in the sign up thread?

I think...I have had a change of plans after all...I mean...after all you were doing a great job with the art...so here is what's really gonna happen...I will go on with the story. I do not want to have made you do all that work for naught. So, the story will continue...but, I will change many things, including my form of writing, I will be more descriptive in the second part. You'll see the changes.

I don't wanna sound agressive, but don't you think you're being unfair to your readers? Everytime you start a story, there's a big fuss about it, you make even signature quotes and images, and sometime later, suddenly, you decide to quit it.
If I was reading this I'd really get pissed off. I know it's hard work, but once you commit yourself there's no turning back.

Anyway, the AotL (the first of three stories ends today)

Many elite guards mobilized themselves once the castle had been alerted of the danger. The young guard that had seen the scene at the garden had managed to alert the castle.
When King Link opened the door of the personal room, he noticed that standing outside in the hallway were more than fifty of his elite soldiers, all armed and ready to put their lives on the line for him and the Queen. These bunch had trained many years under his tutorship.

“My King,” said the captain who apparently was in charge of the squad and standing just by the door. “Dire news, sire, monsters appeared out of nowhere and are attacking all angles of the island. Your orders, sir?”

“We defend our home,” Link simply said, his old face showing no fear, rather it showed a determination to fight unlike any other that the guards had seen in years. Yes, Link’s blue eyes seemed to gleam with excitement, many guards noted. “We protect the Queen and our guests, I will lead you against any foe that dares come against the castle.”

“There are many, sire,” the captain said as Link eyed the other soldiers. “But....reports have said that two individuals are already inside the castle below in the main hall and corridors. I’ve sent three squads of twenty to face them, but I fear the worse, sire. We were caught unawares.”

At that moment, Queen Zelda and the other guests appeared behind Link. The King turned around to face them and said, “Stay in this room. I will go and deal with this matter personally. Close the door, honey, I will be right back. Fear not for me, I will be well guarded and I’ll be sure to leave plenty guards outside this door. If Valoo’s info proves to be correct, this attack could mean that the enemy came here seeking to take the stone. In any case, we must defend it, I leave to do just that.”

Before Zelda or any others could protest, King Link went outside of the room and to the hallway, where soldiers moved away in order to give him a wide passage.

Yuki and Janine glanced at each other when the King was gone and the door was closed by none other than Alecia, who seemed a bit frightened. Valoo, standing behind the group, knew why. Alecia was a fisherwoman, not a fighter, of course she had to be scared.

“Begging your pardon, My Queen,” Valoo said in a calm voice. “But I must be going outside to help thwart the enemy attack. I fear this attack wont be the last and it definitely wont be over soon. Any attack against you two is like an attack on myself.”

“Valoo,” Zelda rushed to him. “You cant leave. I feel better within the confines of this room with you here.”

“But my Queen,” Valoo started to say. “I am a Dragon, I can help in a big way if I go outside. I'll breath fire upon our enemies from the sky...”

“Sorry to interrupt, but my friend and I would like to help as well,” said the red haired Dragir. “The enemy appears to be strong and seem to be after the Power Stone, so we have to fight too. Valoo, let us take care of guarding the Queen. My partner and I know magic and can fight quite well with any weapon. We use to serve the greatest Dragir that ever lived...”

The other young Dragir nodded, feeling the excitement of the battle to come. “What say you, Valoo and My Queen?”

Zelda and Valoo did not know what to say, how to react. It was Zelda who spoke a few seconds later, which to the others seemed like minutes. “So are you two pledging your alliance to the Crown?”

“Yes,” Yuki bravely said. “We pledge our very lives to you, My Queen. Our dear Dragir Queen was taken from us since our home sunk under the ocean, we have been serving no one until now...we want to be admitted as an official race of Hyrule and fight alongside you all, for the good of the world.”

“Then fight with us,” Zelda almost said it smiling. “Let your race take its ascendancy and join the world of Hyrule for the good of all! Take your place as an official race of Hyrule and show us what you can do!”

The two Dragirs looked at each other, nodded and knelt in front of the Queen, who went on to knight them under the service of the Crown.

“You two are now official soldiers of Castle Zelda,” Zelda sweetly said as the Dragirs rose up from the marbled floor. “In this case, I name you two my official protectors.”

Turning to Valoo, who seemed to be smiling, Queen Zelda nodded and said, “Okay, Valoo. I fear that I will be well protected with all those soldiers standing guard outside the door and these beautiful Dragirs.”

“Can I entrust this child to you two as well?” Valoo said, heading towards Alecia but also to the door. “She came with me from Dragon Roost island and she’s under my care, but I cannot be taking her outside with me where it is sure that I will be finding danger and battle.”

Alecia just glanced at the two exotic Dragirs, who had not morphed back to their human appearance. Just by looking at them, the fisherwoman felt a tingling excitement running through her vains. She wanted to be like them, a warrior, a fighter.

“We will guard her as well,” Janine spoke. “Go and help out, Valoo. Leave the protection of the Queen and this girl to us.”

There was no time to waste, so after a slight nod to Alecia, who nodded back nervously at the Red Dragon, Valoo exited the room, making the guards outside the door to move so he could pass through the wide corridor. The door was closed immediately, leaving only four inside, but twenty five elite guards stood guard outside the door, five of those wise in the lore of magic.

I'm so glad you continued with the story Xelidmus! Still looking great.
I didn't see any typing errors, but I read it pretty fast lol.

Thanks, glad you keep liking it. XD Anyway, the story goes on...

Soldier after soldier came against the Jyy, determined to bring the foe down. And soldier after soldier died at the hands of the demon, some even died in groups of three or four at a time, for the demon’s work with the blades was more of a killing dance. The main hall had turned into the battle ground for both the Jyy and the soldiers who swore to protect Castle Zelda and its residents with their very own lives.

Dearly is how they were paying for coming against such a formidable creature from the underworld. More than thirty armored bodies laid dead on the marbled floor, this one turning red from all the blood that dripped from a series of nasty cuts from the dead soldiers.

While in the midst of battle, the Jyy had revealed his true form to his foes, just because he could and just because he wanted to see and smell their fear. That revelation had made the rest of the pack of soldiers pause to consider the creature, and thus they had decided to form in a defensive position in front of the stairway.

More than thirty soldiers kept far away and crowded, closing the way to the stairway that led up to the second level of the castle. The Jyy, after having given two other fools death, directed his attention to the crowded soldiers. Ark of Mantros noted that more than a few guards had gulped hard.

Blades dripping blood from all the kills, the Jyy lifted them up to his mouth and licked them as he stared at the soldiers. He still was not satisfied.

“You fools think to stop me from making my way upstairs?” the Jyy asked as he lowered his blades. “Aint no other Jyy in my world stronger than me...other denizens of the underworld fear me...”

He started running toward the group in full strides, eager to kill them all.
-----

Yosh had managed to ascend to the second level through the use of a magical portal. He could of had used one of two of the stairways that led up, but after noting from afar that the Jyy was having his way with the Zelda Castle fools, he opted instead to create a magical doorway. It would be much faster and besides...he needed to be far away from that demon as he possibly could.

Through the use of his powerful magic, Yosh spoke an incantation. He closed his eyes and his words came out softly, as if he was speaking to himself while in deep thought.
The spell was one that would tell him how many breathing bodies this level contained. He did not see the count with his eyes, rather the magic attacked his senses a minute later, letting him know how many there were exactly.

“Thirty,” Yosh told himself as he opened his eyes. “And one of those approaching from that corridor. I guess I will have some fun after all...not just that stupid Jyy.”

As the white robed wizard walked toward the corridor at the end, which ran sideways as if dividing the area, he thought he felt the marbled floor shaking underneath him.

He suddenly stopped some ten feet before getting to the corner. The marbled floor was indeed shaking. a smiling Yosh was actually going to begin to wonder why the shaking was taking place, but a huge red figure appeared suddenly at the end, clearing the doubt away.
The wizard’s smile vanished completely, this one replaced by an intense stare full of hatred. “Valoo!”

The wizard cursed under his breath, knowing that his Jyy pet would not be the one doing battle with the mighty Red.

Valoo also stopped right away after noticing the wizard standing in the middle of the corridor. Their eyes met, Valoo’s stare also intensified ten times over just by feeling the dark aura that surrounded the wizard. To the old Dragon’s thinking, this wizard had to be the cause of all the trouble lately.

No words were spoken by Valoo, instead, the guardian right away inhaled air and then breathed it out as a wave of fiery flames. The flames, which covered all the corridor, reached the wizard, who only covered his face with one of his forearms. He was not hurt by the Dragon’s assault, but he noted that the attack had shattered one of his defensive wards, his steel skin, which Yosh had set upon himself as soon as he had entered the castle. Knowing of Valoo’s presence, the Dragir had thought it prudent to be prepared.

“Not a bad attack,” Yosh said, calmly. “Fire consumes everything it hits...lucky me, eh? Maybe I am just too strong a Dragir wizard, old Guardian Valoo.”

He mocked the Dragon by acting as if he was removing some dust off his robe. Valoo said nothing. He knew wizards could prove to be the toughest of foes, especially this figure he had in front of him who had told him too much. Apparently he too, was a Dragir. Valoo did not know what to do. This wizard had mentioned the word Dragir...that made him a possible ally!

“Who are you?” Valoo decided that it would be best if he asked first before striking the wizard again.

Yosh stared at the red Dragon. Apparently Valoo did not know who he was. That was good, Yosh could use that to his advantage. The wily wizard took a defensive stance, not a threatening one that would mark him as an enemy.

“My name is Yosh Nataku, of course,” he introduced himself. “Dear Guardian Valoo, I have come to aid the Castle.”

Valoo seized him up. Was he telling the truth?

Could it be possible that he knew about Janine and Yuki, the other two Dragirs that he had already met?

“How did you know there would be trouble, who told you? How is it that you know?”

There was no way he would be able to fool the Dragon any longer. Yosh appeared to cross his arms over his chest, but it was a ruse, for he was actually going to reach in one of the inner pockets of his robe and attempt to get a hold of the Dark Stone.

Valoo noticed the move right from the beginning, he was not fooled at all. At the same time, both of them reacted in some way.

Yosh sent Valoo’s way a nasty acid blob designed to explode and disintegrate anything it touched. Valoo retreated right away and took an intake of wind as he did. He blew out another fiery flame attack, which just in time consumed the wizard’s weak blob that had been coming at him.

Angered, Yosh knew he was in for a fight. He had thought to strike quickly against the Dragon, but he was a mighty Red, a Guardian of the world. The measly acid blob had been no match against the Dragon’s fire.

“Hm,” Yosh said as the flames died down. “A powerful foe you are, Valoo. I know too much about you, heard too many stories of you even before I made the surface of this world. Let us see how you fare against some of my friends from the underworld, Madussa’s gifts to me for what I am doing for her.”

Valoo’s expression was a puzzled one as he heard the wizard say that. The name the wizard had mentioned caused the Dragon to stir a bit, and he noticed that the wizard had begun casting as he moved his arms frantically while speaking lowly. To the old Guardian that did not seem to matter anymore, the wizard seem to be too far away from his thoughts and his line of sight. Another entity, which the wizard had spoken of, had just made all the trouble for the worse.

The Dragon had been shocked to hear the name of Madussa being spoken. It had been such a long time since he had heard that name, and thus the Guardian's concern.

“My lovely queen...it cannot be...” Valoo simply said, his sight lost in that corridor. Too lost was the Guardian in old thoughts that he did not see the two ugly forms materializing before the wizard.

Yosh had called forth two Cukuuyos, two mighty beastly forms from another plane of existence.

"Take him down," Yosh simply commanded with a weak voice when the wolf-like beasts materialized completely. The Cukuuyos were monsters that stood on four legs. Their skin was grayish and hard as stone. Their skin also had the form of dragon scales. Each of the beasts had two heads that resembled wolves but with curved horns on top. Their wide mouths were filled with razor sharp teeth. The beasts were about the size of a regular wolf and they had tails which ended in a the form of a small ball with two spikes. They were very agile and efficient killing beasts.

The Dragon was taken down moments later by the two horrific monsters. Yosh, exhausted from the summoning of such powerful allies, could only watch the Cukuuyos taking down the Dragon to the marbled floor. He fell to one knee but did not miss any of the spectacle. Madussa’s powerful monsters would be the end of Valoo, one of the Ancient Guardians, he hoped.

In order to get to the outside, King Link and his soldiers had to head to the lower level first, and so they had taken one of the stairways that led down. This large room to where the stairs led was empty. No guards stood guard against the walls. Link, leading the way, told his group to stop. The soldiers obeyed right away. At the other end of the castle there came the sound of battle. Link and his men could hear shouts and the clash of weapons.

"This way," King Link took the lead immediately, he drew his Master Sword from its scabbard as he led the way to where the other set of stairs was. It appeared that the noise was coming from over there, from the main hall.

They managed to get there in two minutes and when they did, they stopped and were awestruck at what they found.

Many bodies laid already dead, and they noticed that the brave soldiers were engaged against an enemy that Link nor any of the soldiers had seen before.

"Charge!" Link shouted full of rage. "Bring him down!" He led the way, taking off toward the foe, who was giving the soldiers a hard time. Only like fifteen soldiers remained of the group that had been protecting the stairway, but with Link's arrival, the soldiers thought they saw a ray of light in their darkest hour.

The Jyy perceived that another group had arrived. He heard a loud shout and glanced over his shoulder to see that the King himself had showed up with some other thirty or so soldiers. The Jyy smiled in defiance. It was time to step his game. He retreated to an open area in the hallway, letting all the soldiers gain composure and unite as a unit.

"We did all we could to keep him from going up, sire," one of the guards told the King, who nodded as he said, "You did great, captain Jurgen. It appears that we made it just in time."

"Aye, sire. This...creature has made us pay dearly...he's something else..."

"I want a piece of him," Link said, swinging the Master Sword expertly. The King, even though he was old, could still maneuver the blade expertly. None of the guards had had the courage to face him in a duel over the years, not even in a training battle.

"Oh, you want a piece of me?" the Jyy shouted from his place. "Well come on, old man. I'll give you floor just like I've done so with your poorly trained soldiers. It is you who I have come for, anyway. It is great to see you have come to me, you made my task much easier."

Link stopped, taking a good measure of the creature. It was dark skinned, had horns and probably his body was covered with scales. It glistened under the light of the Castle lamps.
"What do you want from us?" Link decided to talk to the foe. Perhaps everything could be solved by bargaining, the wise King thought.

"What do I want from you?" the Jyy laughed as he stood staring at the King. "I want your blood, your head..."

The King shouted, "Then come and get it, fool! Come and see for yourself why I am the King! Come and see how it is that I deal with the likes of you!"

The Jyy felt enraged of the King's provocation. The Jyy knew that if he managed to fell the King, the others would jump in immediately to his aid.

He smirked as he remembered the gem that his master had given him. He put a sword into its scabbard and then reached into the pocket of his robe to obtain it. With a wide smile, he took off running toward the multitude of foes.

"You fools will regret having stood against me!" the Jyy shouted furiously as he ran toward them. "Your time is up, your races shall perish and this world will be replaced with a dark order!" Then, he threw the gem toward the group as he was nearing the King.

The gem exploded loudly, sending everyone to the floor through a nasty gaseous wind that came from the explosion, but not the Jyy...

The Jyy had thought victory at hand when he had thrown the white gem in an attempt to freeze time and his foes, which were many, the King among them.

Victory was not to be had this day, not for the Jyy at least. He suddenly found himself standing very still, just like a statue. His body had frozen solid in an instant, even before he realized it. Unbelieving his luck, the Jyy tried to growl out in frustration as he realized what had happened. The Dragir wizard, a sorcerer of great power he had called Master before, had deceived him. And what was worse of all, Ark of Mantrios had seen the deception but had not been sure of it!

"Nooo!" Ark of Mantrios shouted, unable to accept the turn of events. "This cannot be happening! NOOO!! Curse you, Yosh! Curse you and your damned Dragir race!"

King Link and the rest of his troops started to get up from the ground, where they had slid away after the explosion had sent everyone to the floor. The King, as he was rising up, heard what the creature was shouting, so the mention of the Dragirs did not go unnoticed. Also, the King assured himself to remember the name Yosh that the creature had spoken of. Link reached for his Master Sword, which had flown out of his grasp thanks to the force of the explosion.

"He's...he's trapped, My King," a soldier stammered happily behind him. King Link nodded and headed toward the foe in a slow walk as triumphant shouting was heard from several soldiers behind him, others smiled and congratulated each other, for the nasty foe appeared to be at its end and by one of his own magical devices.

"No!!" The Jyy continued to shout his frustration and anger. "Nooo! Not fair, this is foul play! I had you all...you were all about to fall to my blades! Damn you! Damn you all! Argghhh!"

When Link noticed that the horned foe had indeed frozen itself and that it could do nothing but shout and move his eyes, he quickly turned to his elite force and issued an order, "Quickly, half of you to the second level, we don't know if there are others. Protect the secret room well, your Queen is there with some guests. Do not move from the door and do not let anyone suspicious approach it!"

Half of the soldiers headed up the stairs in a rush, leaving the King with half the force.

"Well, well," Link then said as he circled around the trapped foe, his Master Sword in his right hand. "It looks like your luck's ran out. And to think that I wanted to face you personally and test my skills against yours. Sorry, horned one, it was not to be. You screwed yourself up."

The King examined the foe well. He really did not know what manner of being this one was, but it definitely was no Dragir, as the two guests that he had met earlier. This one was way different.

King Link's eyes then observed all the carnage that the enemy had left. Those soldiers laying on the castle floor were like sons to Link, and so the King became enraged as never before when he again took notice of all the blood that adorned the floor. Angered, he thought about slicing the creature's head off there and then, but his sword hand remained down and calm as ever.

"King Link!" growled the Jyy in anger as his eyes bore into the King's own when he was coming around. "Be glad that it turned out this way..."

--"Does anyone here have a spell to silence him up?" Link spoke loudly, knowing that there had to be mages among the ranks. "His ugly voice begins to annoy me."

"Aye, My King, I do," a young girl dressed in a bluish robe stepped forward.

"Good. Then silence him and bind him with a few spells of your own."

The brown haired lass nodded at her King and then she quickly went to work, casting a silencing spell while the Jyy protested all the while. Suddenly, his voice was not heard any more. Glad and proud of herself because the spell had worked, the mage stepped back away from the creature.

"We need to obtain a full report of the fighting going on all over the island," King Link said as he sheathed his sword and turned to his mighty soldiers. "We also need to set a few guards near the doors and have them secured, we don't know how many foes came nor if more are coming. It's best if we keep the castle secured. For now, take this monster to one of the special cells in the dungeon."

"The magical cells, right, My King?" a soldier asked as he came forward, several others behind him as well and ready to do as the King had ordered.

"Yes," the King nodded. "We don't know how long he'll remain in his frozen state. We will attempt to gather information from this foe, it is vital that we keep him alive for the time being. Valoo will know what to do. Keep a good watch over him and a chain guard as well. In case he escapes, word must reach us."

"Yes, My King," the soldier said, then issued orders himself to other low ranked soldiers. Two soldiers had to pick up the frozen foe, and they hesitated at first, but after the mage girl said that it was safe to do so, they did so and they carried him to the dungeons of Castle Zelda.

Valoo would of had let the monsters tear him apart, for he really did not care about anything anymore. But then, when one of the beast’s bit his right arm, the Dragon remembered that perhaps there was something left in the world to fight for...at least until everything was sorted out. If indeed Madussa was involved in all this, then Hyrule was in grave danger as never before.

An angry Valoo rose from the ground, ready to defend himself from the two Cukuuyos who had been enjoying themselves biting at him and tearing itsy bitsy parts of his flesh. His hardened, Dragon scales had saved him from being shred to pieces right away, but Valoo had been hurt none the less. Furious, he grabbed a beast with his arms and sent it flying away, spinning toward one of the corners of the intersection where it hit hard and then fell to the floor after it let out a painful wail. With its spine broken, the Cukuuyo was not going to get up.

Yosh, weak still, could only manage to scowl at the Dragon’s maneuver. So easily had he dealt with one of his beasts, but then Yosh realized that the Guardian was very angry.
“Nooo!” Valoo shouted as he attempted to grab the other beast, which managed to evade his grasp as it backed away. “I will not let myself be defeated here. If Madussa’s indeed involved in all this, I have to remain alive and protect those that I was told to protect, even if it means going against her...and the All-Mighty.”

“You still wish to fight, old fool?” Yosh finally manage to stand up, shaking his head as he did. The unharmed Cukuuyo was standing in front of him, as if protecting the wizard from the Dragon’s approach. If Valoo approached, the beast would jump on him, that was for certain.

“Your goddess betrayed you, Valoo,” Yosh went on. “why do you so wish to stand up and protect these weak races? You use to be a guardian of the gods...Instead...you were betrayed by the goddess you call Queen and was sent down here to look after weak races such as Hylians, Koroks and the Rito. Wasn’t that like a slap to your face? To had been demoted of your high rank along with many others and then sent to this humanly place?...This mortal plane that Omega Blaster created!”

Valoo, angry and puffing out small flames from his mouth, could only stare and listen to the wizard, who apparently knew too much about the past--Too much! He did wonder how it was that the wizard had managed to put all the pieces of history together.

“You must be asking yourself how it is that I know all that,” Yosh went on, wanting nothing more than to waste time so his magical powers would replenish. “I’ll tell you, because I think you should know.”

“Then tell me,” Valoo raged, flames coming out of his mouth in large spurts. “Before I decide to toast you two right here!”

Yosh gulped, though since his robe was covering his throat, it did not show. If the Dragon decided to breath fire upon them, he knew that he and his pet were goners. Yosh would not be able to summon any source of protection...He needed to keep the Dragon entertained, or else all his childhood dreams of becoming the next ruler of the world would literally go up in flames!

“Very well,” Yosh nodded. “I will tell you all. Even if it means telling you why I am after the Power Stones...but I am guessing you already imagine why....Anyway...It all began many chiliads ago when I was a young teen Dragir in my homeland, Dragiria....”

Valoo tensed as he heard him say that. The Dragon began to believe that the Dragir he had in front of him was the one responsible for the fall of Dragiria. He was not sure, though, so he just decided to hear more from the wizard.

Yosh was about to continue on with his tale when all of a sudden he heard the loud footsteps of clashing mail behind him. He did not need to turn around to see what that was all about, Yosh knew that soldiers from the castle approached. Had they defeated the Jyy? Had the demon used the stone that Yosh had given him? Was that how the soldiers had defeated Ark of Mantrios and now were here? A deep low voice behind him cleared his doubts.

“You fool will be doing good by not raising your weapon against us. Order your beast to not attack, it is over!”

The beast turned around then, knowing that the threat was behind them now. Several soldiers retreated a few steps, but the mighty leader of the pack did not. Not when Valoo stood in the hallway several paces away and apparently very angry.

“Yes, yes,” Yosh almost said in a laughing tone. “You soldiers are right.” He turned around slowly to face them. “I will dismiss my pet. It is over...Maadrak, sit!”

The Cukuuyo, after hearing its name being mentioned and the order from his master, did so.

“Now dismiss him!” the guard shouted, nervous just because of the presence of such a ferocious looking beast.

“I wish I could,” Yosh said, feeling quite embarrassed at the fact that he had to tell these fools why he could not. “My magical abilities have been depleted. Maybe I will manage to do so in twenty minutes or so. Don’t worry, the beast will do as I command and I assure you that it is harmless at the moment.”

The soldier did not know what to do or what to say, so he looked past the wizard over to Valoo for some assistance.

Valoo began to relax then, believing that perhaps the attack on Castle Zelda was over. He approached from behind and spoke calmly, “If it is over, then you might want to be handing over your weapons...all of them. Will you do so? Or will you go down fighting, exhausted wizard?”

The answer was a simple one, but one that Yosh did not think that he would be uttering. He was lost at the moment, and all because his plans had not gone according to plan. But he smiled mischiveously despite his predicament and nodded to the soldiers as he said, “Your Guardian is right, here you go.” And he attempted to hand them the Dark Stone, but they all retreated a few steps, some even gasped in surprise, for they thought that the stone would do something to them if they touched it.

“It’s quite harmless, I assure you,” Yosh told them. “See? I am holding it in with my bare palm.”

“I will take that,” Valoo grabbed the wizard from his shoulders and turned him around. He took the stone from him easily, which Yosh surrendered without a fight. Yosh closed his eyes, then, his thoughts whirling back to those chiliads ago when he had taken the stone from its resting place...

He opened his eyes then, not feeling sorry for himself one bit. He knew that the deity would keep her word. She had too.

“There are many other weapons I carry inside my cloak and clothing,” Yosh added. “All useless at the moment, my magic and my will have been depleted, so you might as well take those too. Should I take my clothes off too, then?”

“No,” the captain of the guards finally stepped forward. “Search him, boys. Take all of his belongings.”

Several soldiers moved in to take on the order they had been given. They searched the wizard thoroughly, bringing out gems, rings, necklaces and several magical items that he had kept concealed in the pockets of his robes and shirt.

Even a mage searched him thoroughly with magic. “He appears to be empty now,” the mage said. This one was a man, short and goofy looking.

“Take him to King Link,” Valoo told the soldiers. “He will know what to do. As to me, I am heading outside to check the perimeter. Do not loosen yourselves completely just yet, there is still battle to come in a few days and perhaps beyond that. The Sword and Dirk Pirate clan is making its way here...and....”

With that, Valoo left the soldiers, the Dark Stone in one of his mighty hands.

It's awesome to see you've finished this first part of your trilogy. The last chapter was really long, but you broke it up really well. Just one thing I was a bit curious about: why is Link right handed here when he's a lefty in every non-Wii game?

Oh, hey you're done now. I guess I better start reading it now. I think I'll start over the weekend when I have time XD

It's over? Even though it seemed to end at an inappropriate time, it was a good read. Can't wait for the sequel.

Bravo. I liked it very much.
Very excited for the sequel. My only note would be what was mentioned above about Link being right handed. And you made a statement about there "being like x number of guards." I would have to go back and find it again. The word like seems to make it more like speech than written text.
Good job Xel! :)

Are you referring to this?

"Charge!" Link shouted full of rage. "Bring him down!" He led the way, taking off toward the foe, who was giving the soldiers a hard time. Only like fifteen soldiers remained of the group that had been protecting the stairway, but with Link's arrival, the soldiers thought they saw a ray of light in their darkest hour.

That stood out to me, too, but I thought it was intentionally put there to add a bit of levity to an otherwise tense situation. I suddenly went from imagining a serious narrator reading the story in my mind, to some nervous valley girl trying to read it. The contrast made me laugh.

Anyway, I really liked the story. I didn't start reading it until late into it being posted, but I'm glad I found it. If that "like" was intentional, it was very clever. If not, it didn't really detract much from the story.

Tbh I don't know whether he is left or right handed, I never took the time to check that out while I played WW. I just went for the right hand since I am right handed, I thought Link was too. Sorry if he's not. XD

Sure, start whenever you feel like. And do excuse the many mistakes...the first chapters were sorta hurried since I wanted to have something back up for peeps to read. A bug deleted a story I was working on....so you get my hurry.

Yes, I think that "like" slipped in there by mistake...it does not make lots of sense when I saw it. It is as if I am relating the story to a handfull of people inside a room...I really feel that way when I start writing...I imagine myself in front of all of you and so...sometimes I might tend to write stuff like that...an example would be other likely mistakes such as the use of "this" I don't recall where I wrote it but I did...

I'll go in and correct many mistakes over the course of the days...those that I correct will be in red, so you people can know where I messed up. Thanks for bringing it up, Din, I appreciate it, for as I said in the prologue...it will definitely help me get better--The Feedback I mean.

Lol, glad that you liked it. I have responded to Din for that mistake...thanks for pointing it out, Athenian.

--I already wrote like two chapters for the coming sequel. I wil call it a half sequel/prequel, because I intend to take the reader back for a ride in the times that Dragiria stood as the most powerful realm above the sea. I mean, I already did with so many of the characters talking about it, but this will be different...you will meet many other characters from the past.

Also, you can expect more appearances from Rad, the Red haired pirate lass, Anubis, all the characters that were submitted late will also come out in this new story.

So, I give you a quick glance at what is to come...Hope I don't spoil stuff but I like showing previews just in case some people are wondering about stuff.

In this sequel/prequel, I will aim to explain what happened in the past. Why were the Dragirs so secretive about their race. Who is Madussa? Is she really the ruler of the underworld? Who is the pirate lass? I will also bring into view Omega Blaster, the son of the All-Mighty, whom I wanted to introduce way back in a sorta flash memories, but I thought it would be best if I left him for later, for the 2nd part. Also, Valoo and Yosh had a very good discussion about the past...perhaps you can imagine where I am going with all of this.

I will also tell you why Rad's human family adopted the "Manthys" name, even when Rad himself wanted nothing more than to live in peace and away from trouble. You will come to know how it is that he came to like the humans/hylians.

And...the greatest mystery I haven't spoken of yet....where is the 3rd and final Power Stone? Who has it in their power? Has it been found? All that and much much much more will be answered when the following story continues.

I dunno whether I should post the 2nd part here or in a new thread under it's rightful name. What do you guys/gals think?

I think it's a great idea, but also you should probably put in the characters that you didn't mention from the story sign up. oops, you already said that you would! sorry bout that...

I would probably give it it's own thread but put in the first sentence "sequel to AotL" so those who are new will know before they begin to read.

@Vatti. Yes, I will be introducing the late signees in the coming story. All of them.

@LinkAndI Yeah, It would be for the best to post it seperately. At the moment I have written like three chapters...all very long of course. :P

Also, this thread will probably be closed soon. Seeing that I have finished the story, I see no reason to keep it open.
