I've been noticing. Online, there have been a lot more LPs and walkthroughs of the LoZ Twilight Princess for gamecube. I thought the one for Wii would be more popular because they FINALLY made a zelda for wii! Does anyone have an explanation?

I do have an explanation.
I believe it's simply because Zelda is a game that needs to be played 'old school' style. What I mean by this is that, the Wii supplies a new way to use weapons for Link. (example: holding up the Wii remote and aiming for bow/arrow) Although, most Zelda games have been played with original controllers, where only hand-eye coordination is needed. I believe that 'switching over' to the new Wii remote for a Zelda game is a bit too much for many Zelda players. I, myself chose the Gamecube TP over the Wii. I never liked the Wii anyways.
I hope this makes sense? if not, I can explain further. c:
Plus, not looking around (rotating camera) on the wii is a miss.
As well as a mirrored word, A right-handed Link and problably a western sunset...
Actally, it never was a wii game in the first place.

Not a lot of people had a Wii when Twilight Princess came out so they settled for the Gamecube Version.

Hrrm... I don't really why is this. If you compare the sales of TP on the Gamecube and on the Wii, here's what you get:
TP Gamecube: 1.32 millions
TP Wii: 4.52 millions
...so, since more people own the Wii version, there are supposed to be more walktroughs for it, but apparently, no. Also, Zelda: Twilight Princess was originally intended to be only a Gamecube game, but Nintendo decided at the last minute to do it for the Wii too. So you can say it was ported to the Wii.

Well since the Wii was new at the time people probably wanted a Zelda game for the and maybe people wanted to compare it and even I have it for the Wii. NintendoCaprisun from YouTube isdoing an LP on the Gamecube version.

No, TP would and is not more popular for gcube. In the Wii version, you cam swing the Wii Remote like it is a sword. In the gcube version, you can't do that. Thus, making the Wii version way more fun than the gcube version. I hope this helps you.

I first noticed here on the forums. For some reason, people want their "classic" Zelda game, old-style controller and all. Being one of the few who actually liked Wii TP, this was really strange to me.
I honestly don't know why the Gamecube version is more popular. Nostalgic controls? Lefty Link?

TP was not made for Wii, it's more like a GCN game ported to the Wii. I personally prefer the GCN version. The graphics are exactly the same for both systems for the game and the controls were specifically made for the GCN so I feel more comfortable playing it on GCN.

The graphics are exactly the same for both systems...
I beg to differ, for the only gain the Wii version had was that it had the ability to output 16:9, yet the GameCube could also do 480p, as with the Wii. I do think that it was more popular on the Wii, yet it is better on the GameCube. A few reasons can add up as to why it would be popular on the Wii instead of the console of origin.
For starters, when the Wii came out in 2006, motion control was a new thing and everyone was curious about it and how it worked, and more importantly, how it worked with Zelda. In addition, for some reason, the GC version spent longer in production than the Wii, with the only significant version between the Wii and GameCube versions being a flip in the overworld and the Wii's control scheme. Most players who purchased both versions would be mainly either for collection or to see how it feels to have the shoe on the other foot.
For some players, it is easier to keep the GameCube and buy Twilight Princess for it instead of dishing out $250 then purchasing Twilight Princess for the Wii, so that is where some popularity points come in for the GameCube. So, as for popularity, it depends on who you're asking. If they were one of the Wii fanboys, they could get both, yet they would prefer the Wii version, while the GameCube fanboys would stick with the "original" game. The ones who were very interested in motion controls would have gotten the Wii version, while some of the die-hard Zelda fans who didn't want to buy a Wii at the time would have simply gotten the GameCube version and park it right next to Wind Waker (Well, I've got my Wii Twilight Princess sitting right next to my copy of Wind Waker (No, I do not have a GameCube, but I have a controler and save pack.).).
People think that having Link left handed is the be all end all of it. If he's not left handed then it's not Link. BAKA! (Stupid in Japanese) Doesn't matter which hand he uses. I myself rather the Wii version simply because I find it easier to just shake my wrist around and the motion stuff is fun. However having Kakariko on the wrong side of the map did annoy me. Since they just flipped the map I suppose I can allow it but once the new game is released that will be fixed if it's Hyrule. When TP was released the Gamecube was beginning to be phased out, short lifespan for a great console, and hence people were buying Wiis because of motion censors and the whole family thing they were selling. TP did come in a few bundle packages down here too, as well as it being one of the "notable" franchise games that was available upon it's release.
I have the Gamecube version but I do want the Wii version just for collectors sake.

I bought the GameCube version when it first came out. But we had to sell a bunch of games and Twilight Princess was one of them. Later, we bought a Wii from a friend along with all of their games they had. So we had the Wii version now. To this day, I still remember the map to the Gamecube version, even though I have beaten the Wii version many more times.
Benefits of GC version:
1. Map not flipped.
2. Parry attack (used for some hidden skills).
3. full camera rotation.
4. Slightly More challenging.
5. Shield without L-Targeting.
Benefits of Wii version:
1. Motion controls are nice. (fishing is best)
2. Widescreen.
3. Hold 4 items at a time instead of 2.
Let me know if I missed anything.
I personally prefer the Gamecube version more. It is the way Twilight Princess was meant to be played. The main reason I would play it is the map is not flipped. But I would still keep the Wii version because there are some better aspects in that version. If there was a re-release on the Wii which flipped the map back and maybe added some other elements from the GameCube version while still keeping all of the benefits of the Wii version, which will most likely never happen, my favor would shift to the Wii version. But, as it stands now, the GameCube version is better for me.

I own both versions of the game and I have to say that I actually enjoy the Wii version more. Twilight Princess is in no way my first Zelda game, but the controls felt better on the Wii than on the classic GameCube. As much as I'd rather see a left-handed Link, the REAL map, and all of those other controls that are only on the GC version, the Wii version stands out to me more and the controls feel smoother.
It's only my personal taste, though. I can see why people prefer the GC version over this one.
