What did you think of the Lantern Caves in Twilight Princess?
For those who don't know what those are... in TP there were several large caves hidden in Hyrule. Five, to be exact. Unlike the normal caves, they were much larger than a single room (unless you count the Fire and Ice themed ones, which were both basically just one gigantic room). Only the first one (in Faron Woods) was mandatory, because you actually had to go through it a few times in the beginning of the game. All of the future ones were totally optional, and several of them required certain items to complete. Most of them were really dark, and required you to use the Lantern... at least if you actually wanted to see well.
They contained lots of Rupees, some Heart Pieces and Poe Souls.
I liked them a lot because they were essentially mini-dungeons, or at the very least were extremely elaborate cave areas. I liked the bonus play-time they added to the game and extra "dungeon content". I wish there were more of them, though, and I wish a few more of them were big. The Fire and Ice ones were pretty small IMO, although it was nice how they recycled some cool ideas from the Goron Mines and Snowpeak Ruins, respectively.
I'd like it if they had things like this in future Zelda games, actually. I'd like to have a bunch of optional mini-dungeons around in most of the games, that'd be nice. In my fangames, I have it planned to have plenty of mini-dungeons. :xd:
And which Lantern Cave was your favorite? I think mine was the one near the top of Lake Hylia. It was the biggest by far. A massive network of tunnels. You needed a lot of bombs to get through the whole place because each tunnel was blocked by a boulder. I liked it! :D
