Hey guys i've been wondering i havn't got a new Zelda game in quite some time and i was just wondering Should i get Links Awakening or A link to The Past.

I have played the Orginal Zelda and Zelda II as a kid and when i got my gamecube it came with Collectors Edition and i Beat Ocarina Of time and Majoras Mask and i really like those 2 games. I played Wind Waker and it continues to amaze me everytime i play it. I bought and have Beat Twilight princess when it was first released and it is amazing i have beaten it over 10 times. My favorite Zelda game by far is Minish Cap i love the story and Plot in it.

So in conclusion witch Zelda game would be a better pick up for me

Please do yourself a favor, and buy A Link to the Past. I could rant on how you should pick up Alttp over LA, or tell you how good it is (I'll just give you one example, Alttp is my favorite game, any hints?). Just get Alttp, play it, then thank yourself.

don't discount LA just yet though, I have found that this game is starting to become increasingly hard to find these days. if you have the chance to buy it, buy it now! soon no one is gunna want to sell their copy so it would be wise to pick it up soon. ALttP is sweet but in my opinion LA is just as good, even though it is the first handheld and doesn't look as polished off as ALttP it is still a Zelda classic and deserves our attention.

i agree with raven.

LA is really hard to find especially the DX version. i had to buy the regular version from my friend that doesn't even like zelda games to much.

ALTTP is pretty hard to find where i live, but not as hard to find as LA.

if i were you i would buy LA now and get ALTTP another time.

I don't think it's TOO expensive to download ALTTP from the Wii's virtual console store if you can't find a physical copy...

Ah, yes. Two of my faves. They're both pretty good, but if you can only get one at the moment, I'd go with A Link to the Past. It's a longer, more challenging game.

A few random things to consider:
- LA's plot is one of the most unique in the series, whereas Alttp is more 'classic zelda'.
- Alttp has thirteen dungeons. LA has.. something like seven.. I think. Alttp's are also much larger and, to me, more difficult.
- LA has a fun little trading sequence. Alttp does not.
- LA is probably a direct sequel to Alttp. But it's like you need to play Alttp first or anything. ;)

If you have the opurtunity, please, get both, if not, only ALttP.
I have both versions of both games, and they're the best 2D Zeldas, but ALttP is better

It all really depends on your opinion of games.

A Link to the Past is more longer and challenging. It has a more classic Zelda feel, whereas Link's Awakening is more of a side-quest game, similar to, let's say Majora's Mask. Except better.
The later dungeons in Link's Awakening are very puzzling and complicated, but a really fun game to play through. Story-wise, Link's Awakening is a bit confusing. A Link to the Past's is more understandable and, well, better.

Both are wonderful games that were outshadowed by Ocarina of Time. If you're able to find both, get both. If not, I recommend Link's Awakening. All depends on your choice of gaming.

13? Are you counting the two visits to Hyrule Castle? I can understand the second time but the first time is more like a tutorial level with easy enemies and a very simplistic level design.

Both games are super amazing and I would very much recommend getting both if possible. People who didn't play LA when they were younger will love LTTP a ton more, as it is a much larger game with a ton of items and better graphics than LA's Game Boy pixelation. If you like handheld games at all then you will like LA, but for playing order I would personally choose LTTP first.

And don't worry about LAs availability. There's still TONS of copies for under $20 on eBay:

ALttP wins this one! .... get the SNES version (on VC?) if possible, but I suspect you want something for your handheld.
If you can get a copy of LA too, it would be awesome! This game is also very good.

One thing, I liked the monotone old classic gameboy way over a partially colored one.
If you happen to have a gameboy (or GB converter for the SNES, Yay!), get the non DX version.
