Alright I know this sounds wierd but I've been wondering how many of you organize the cases of your games. If you do how do you organize them? Do you organize them by genre, order you opened and played them, or franchise? I personally tend to organize them in the order I recieved and opened them.

Uh, i put them in shelf, and dont really put them to any order,
only that that they wont drop to the floor.

I do organize my game cases:
Shooters
Adventures
Customizantion (for the games that you can customize something)
But usaully they get messed up after about a week so ever since then they have been a big mess:lol:. I put them in a compartment in my drawer.

When I was younger, I would organize them according to franchise, what kind of genre they were, ect. These days I don't much care anymore. :P

I organise my games according to what console it is, and then alphabetically. =) For example all my GameCube games are together on a shelf, sorted from Animal Crossing to...Super Smash Bros. Melee I believe. It just makes it so much easier to find things!

My N64 games are all second-hand and most didn't have boxes and manuals so they're stored alphabetically in a box with the names written on the top in permanent marker.

Like Camisado, I also organise my games according to console and then alphabetically. It can be a bit difficult to decide where to put a game. Sometimes words like 'the' can be very tiny on the back of the dvd case (which can decide where the game has to be placed). It is a very easy system to quickly find a game you want to play.

I usually organize my game by Console first, then by the date I bought/was given them.
Then, after a while, I will alphabetize them, just to make it more orderly.

Only by console on a nice shelf so I can find where they are.

If I can remember to put them there.

Which I usually don't. :)

I organize them by franchises. They are all pilled up one on the other, and I think it's easier to find a specific game that way. ;) For example, all my Zelda games are all together. :)

Me, i arrange by Genre, It looks WAY better rather than arranging them in buying order(that is to say, you buy a game, it goes first, then second game then etc.) I have a LOT of games here so it can get Pretty crowdy IF i arrange them like that so, i arrange them by Genre

I arrange mine alphabetically based on console. I'm actually surprised to see that it isn't a choice on the poll...

I organize them by console and then by Franchise.

The N64 and SNES games that don't have a case have a small sticker on the side with the name written

I guess I technically have them organized by system. With my N64 games being on one side of the TV, my Wii/Cube games on the other, and my DS games up in my room.
Then with my N64 games, I usually try to organize them by when I got the games. Other than that, I just make sure the current game I'm playing is on top, and the rest I could care less about.

Nah, they're all in one drawer together. Only the DS games are in a little treasure chest since they're little and I don't want another Charlie Foxtrot where I lose a game like Platinum version and excavated my room looking for the damn thing.

I also organize them by console and then alphabetically. "The" never counts in the alphabetization, and there are special cases as well.

Such as titles like "Link's Crossbow Training" I will put with as if it were "Legend of Zelda: Link's Crossbow Training". Also, I will also put sequels in the order that they came out despite their alphabetic arrangement. For instance, the James Bond GameCube games are in order of their release, even though they are not numbered. So I suppose you can count that as organizing by franchise.

Describing it this way makes it all sound so very lame, but really it takes all of about 5 seconds to make room where a new title should go. It's just easier in the long run to find the titles I want to play.

I organize them by favorites.

At the top are the games I tend to play the most. Then, at the bottom are the games I haven't played in a while. I store them in a drawer... but only the cases. I store the discs apart in a disc case, all together. I use the same system in the disc case.

So, I don't use the cases. I only use them when I borrow my games. Then, when I have my game back, I store it in the disc case again.

Ours are just thrown into a box. Our DS case holds the individual cartridges, so there isn't much need for the cases at this point.

I organize by console and alphabetically so I can find what I am looking for. I picked franchise on your poll, I will some times do that too especially if I have a lot of game in the same franchise like Zelda and Resident Evil, but I prefer alphabetically. I have more then one system and I share a lot of them, I can't organize them in just one way, too many games.;)

I alphabetize them. Much more efficient than any other order.

Yup, on my bookcase, in order of franchise. Indeed, I am hyper organized.

Console, then alphabetically.

But i'll keep my favorite types together, like All the Final Fantasy Games on one shelf, All my Metal Gear games on another, and all the Legend Of Zelda games on another.

For the N64 and DS, I don't even use the cases. I have a little pouch I can put the DS games in, and I have a backpack for all of my N64 stuff. As for my Wii stuff, I just put the cases in any order I feel, no specific code or anything. For computer, I have my games in a case made from a license plate, and I group the games based on series (All RCT games go in one section, all Warcraft/Starcraft go in one section, etc.).

We don't have anywhere to keep them that's near the TV, so we have a case with most of the discs is, mostly in random order because nobody but me bothers about putting them back where they came from :\ And the gamecube discs always slide out :(
So I keep 'em (the boxes) upstairs on one of my shelves, lumped together in console groups. Old cartridges I keep in their boxes, and most of them are piled in the "old games" carboard box... any handheld games are just kept loose in a little box on the shelf :3

If we had room, I'd have them on a shelf next to the TV, probably in console then alphabetical order. *sigh* Small houses aren't fun.

Like Kele above. I only put them on a shelf, neat and straight. Now if I want to organize them, I'd be on a cleaning spree. O-o

I just stick the cases in a drawer under my TV. If I had time to organize them, I would.

I just put them in a chest and sort them by the system there for. Wii's go in a pile, PS1 go in a pile, and DS i stack up. I dont try to organize them alphabeticaly either.

I stack mine on top of each other with my least favorite games at the bottom and the ones I play most on top.

I have this little area under my TV, and I just throw all my games in there, and if I want a game, I open the door, and all the games fall on to the floor. I am always trying to put the games in order, but I think that is a waste of time, they would only stay orginized for about 2 days, and then they would be all messed up again, so I really don't have them in any order.

I just put them in a box randomly. I used to organize my ps2 games by how good they were but now i don't.

I always keep all the games of the same console together. Right now, they're all in boxes on shelves. One box has GCN/Wii games, another has PS3/GCN games (we have quite a few GameCube games) and the other has N64 games, with the tops of the cartridges labelled. I remember when I was younger I used to organize it either in the order in which we got them, or in alphabetical order, depending on how I felt at the time. Then I thought "screw it" and stopped bothering with it.

My handheld games, however, are a different story. They used to be in a drawer in my bedroom, but currently the DS games are downstairs whilst the DS itself is in my room, and I have no idea where my Game Boy and its games are.

Yes, in fact it helps me alot, since disorder only makes me search crazy for my lost and scattered games, i do organize them by genre, then next to it's console.
I do allways keep the console box for some reason, i like to be organized.

I organize my game cases based on how much I liked the game on a rating of 1 to 5. I'm weird that way. Lol

I don't really organize them. The only real organization I do, is that I attempt to keep all the games for a particular console in one place. Sometimes I've accidentally put PS2 games with GC games, but I usually correct that quickly if I do.

Then again, I've never had more than 10-15 games for a particular console, and even then I usually only like about 4-5 of them enough to pick them up and play them again.

Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't. Most of the time I just shove them all under my bed. xD But I usually organize my Gamecube ones for some odd reason. And it's always in alphabetical order.

i sort my cases by system so i guess none of the above

Usually I'll go by francise, but most of the time I just keep them in my special case that my brothers are forbidden to go into.

I sort mine by both system and in alphabetical order. With the exception of my 64 and SNES games, which I have a small amount of and no real room on the shelves, so they're stacked up on a seperate shelf in no real order. Same goes for any game I don't have room for, really.

Oh, and my Gameboy games are just in a bag in no real order, so I have quite a hard time digging out a game from it.

I organize them by genre and franchise, goes back and forth but it gets messed up after a week or so though...so

A lot of my games that I have I don't keep IN the case half of the time. They say it's bad, but games last a LONG time. :D

Skull_Kid

For now they are sorted by platform, and then, alphabetically, with some exceptions(like, I put FF Anthology after FF origins because origins is I+II and Anthology is IV+V)

I have never really organized my games/movies/cd's although i tend to keep them all on their respective shelves. movies with movies, games with games and so on, i dont think i have ever really organized them beyond that. Although i realize that for some it may seem rewarding to have everything neatly categorized i like to live as if none of that matters. the more disorganized yet still functional you are, the awesomer you are! just one of many outlooks on life.. not necessarily wrong but not necessarily the right way to do things either.

I usually don't organize my cases except in the one room in my house where the Wii, GCN, and PS2 is in, which I organize by console. As for my Dsi, I don't have my cases anywhere together to be organized, so I really couldn't organize them. When I"m not organizing my games, I"m just cramming them into a box where I can randomly grab a game to play.

No, I keep all my games in one chest. And when I take one out, I hold it up in the air heroically while it goes, "Dun Dun Dun DUUUUUUUUUUNNN!"

I usually do From A - Z.
I have my Xbox games, From A - Z, Then I have Wii games starting back to A then to Z. The Same thing applies to my DS games after my Wii games.

Mine are generally around the place and I don't have as many as I used to so I don't need to order them too much. By franchise though. Mario there, Zelda there, Assassin's Creed, etc.

ironknuckle1
02-13-2010, 06:37 PM
the only way i order them is i keep all the certain ttypes of games together like all of the marios together and i keep all of the games for one system together also

Durion
02-14-2010, 09:35 AM
I organise them by the console they are made for, I don't see the point of organising it any further, I just like to be able to go the section of games for the console that I want to play at that moment in time and just choose one that I decide I want to play. Everything else is just time consuming, pointless and I can't be bothered to do that.

Steve
02-14-2010, 04:01 PM
I have always been one to order them alphabetically, plus that helps that helps me find games. However I keep all my console games in binders/booklets separated by console, rather than the cases which are pretty much there just for display.
