I never thought that navi was annoying. Unlike many people. I thought she was the best sidekick of all time. I mean she actually gave you information on the enemiy you were z targeting. Unlike newer sidekicks like Midna where she doesn't help you at all in battle. And on the point of Midna I never thopught of her as a sidekick but more of just another main character like Link or zelda.

Yea, Navi is pretty annoying
"hey link! do something! oops, I can't help you cause i'm a fairy." So then she leaves.

I think that Navi helped many times. One thing that is not clear to me though is if Navi is a fairy then why can't she bring Link back up whenever beaten. To me Navi was one of those characters who did not have a huge role in the game like Midna.

Strangely, I never found Navi annoying. Neither any other sidekicks. They always helped me when I needed to. I always found that Navi was really cool.
But I think Tatl is already better than Navi. Navi had no personnality at all. While Tatl and Tael already had much more. But Midna is the best sidekick ever.

I think the entire reason Navi has an annoying quality is mostly just from the perspective of veterans of the game. Personally, I thought Navi was an immensely helpful addition to the game the first time I went through, but then I did again and again, and there's a certain breaking point where you're going through your fifth time or so and you still haven't quite got it to where you can do the timed quests to get the Biggoron's Sword on the first try so you're getting all stressed out, and then Navi keeps saying, "Hey, Listen!" and you keep swearing and shouting "NAVI, SHUT UP, I'LL GO TO THE FOREST LATER!!"
After a while, I guess I didn't mind her as much anymore because I can now go through the game with pretty much all the side quests in just a lazy Saturday afternoon. Including the stupid timed quests which were an immense pain in the *** the first several time you did them, and things such as the Ice Cavern, which are annoying every time you play through the game.

Well I didn't really pay much attention to navi just when I needed info.

Never bothered me as much as it does my brother. With him, if anyone uttered "Hey" in Navi's tone, he'd flip out. He definately prefers Tatl.

You know i liked tatl a lot. it is definitely my second favorite sidekick. Nut the game that pulled me in was Ocarina of Time so I ve always liked Navi better.

I never really gave Navi a thought. I think she's just one of those things a lot of people "love to hate". I mean she only really FORCES you to listen to her in the very begining of the game and if your bothered by her nagging either mute your TV or just listen to her like ONE box of dialouge... it really isn't that bad... but different people have different annoyances. for me though, she was pretty easy to ignore and i was sure glad she was available my first time playing... I also kinda missed her in Majora's Mask.... i don't know who else is with me on that, but I just think instead of introducing a TOTALLY new character who does pretty much the same thing, Navi could've EASILY been reused.

I found it was pretty humorous when, traveling to the future Kokiri Forest, she says "HEY! Maybe you should go to the Fairy on top of Death Mountain. Yet, it was Navi that made the first dungeon unbearable. The number of times she told me how to do things I already knew, forced me to shove my controller into my screen. <:D

ojeez. The mere mention of Navi makes me want to cry. I'm replaying OoT right now and when I was going through the first three dungeons, I had a dream that was nothing but HEY! LISTEN! HEY! WATCH OUT! HEY! HELLO!
Tatl on the other hand has that pretty little tinkling sound that I'm fond of.

Navi Annoying? To people who hates being interrupted in an important moment or people who get sick and tired of her saying Hello!! Listen!! Look!! then yes.
To me No, I like her because she is sweet, she provides information about the enemies you kill and i get to play it over and over near a Friend(my best friend who HATES navi a lot. I tortured him by recording Navi's Voice and played in near his ear. He was strapped to a chair. I did that as payback for leaving me alone to face a old Bully.) as torture!

She's really annoying when you're already angry about something (for example when you're trying to beat a dungeon for the third time), you're being interrupted for some useless advices. THIS is annoying.
Besides that, I do like Navi, she's cute, funny and she's your friend. Midna was more like Linebeck in my opinion =w=
You were her slave at the beggining of the game. You are forced to use Linebeck's ship in PH, even if you don't like him.
Navi doesn't yell at you when you do something wrong.
She isn't using you for some dark reasons.
She is always trying to help you, if you have a problem with a boss or a dungeon, press up on the C button and she will solve it.
That's why I like Navi.
I admit that she can be annoying sometimes (just like some IRL girls ), but she's your friend.

I do find Navi helpful... sometimes... most of the time, I wish she would stop saying, "Hey! Listen" or "Look!" It is true that it's very nerve-racking when you keep falling into lava or dying from enemy hits...

Navi is not annoying my friends. Saying Navi is anoying is an offense to the GREAT Deku Tree! :P

Tatl is better.

I think Navi is annoying when she yells at you and when you can't look around with up-c. I think she replaces the fortune teller like in TP.

I really liked Navi as a partner in OoT, and I didn't find her that annoying. Maybe it's because I've replayed it so much I've gotten used to her constant "HEY! LISTEN!" but you can tune it out. The only thing that annoyed me about her was there'd be a bunch of scenarios like this for me:
Navi: Hey!
Me: Yes?
Navi: The Princess said we should go to Death Mountain!
Me: Okay.
-enter Kakariko village-
Navi: Hey!
Me: What?
Navi: The Princess said we should go to Death Mountain!
-in the Goron place-
Navi: Hey! Listen!
Me: What now?
Navi: The Princess said we should go to Death Mountain!
But like I said, you could ignore that and just not hit c-up. Regardless, I have a soft spot for Navi for some reason.

Navi was one of the better conpanions in the series. She did have some very useful information at some times, such as were to go next, and what to do next. Other from those statements, she did get VERY annoying. Most of whatever she said was pointless, and had nothing to do with progressing the story line.

I only hated her after my first playthrough, after that she pissed me off every time she had to stop me to explain something that i already knew in two paragraphs, that owl always angered me for the same reason...
Navi = great!
Really, just don't play OoT 5 times each year and you'll be fine.
I played OoT 5 times in 10 years. I still like Navi a lot!

It all depends on how mnay times you played through OOT and your patience.
Remember this is the first 3D Zelda game, probably that's the reason Navi gives you to much advice.
Or do you see Tatl explaining you how to open a door?
Also, this is the first Zelda for many people (including me), and, of course, I needed some help (though I knew what to do at most places... strange).
The only thing that bothered me is the constant 'press the C^ and Navi will tell you what to do'... of course that can be easily avoided.
As for the people who played through OOT multiple times, just stop playing it if Navi bother you that much.
Tatl demands you to open a door, I don't know if she tells you to press 'A'.... but it was at the very beginning of MM. Either way, it wasn't that much more helpfull.
Tatl only slacks you off. Just like Navi, but rather helping you, she rather enjoys *****ing you off if you ask for help.
The Z-tagetting thing: Both fairies explain this to Link, but the new one kinda tells you you are dumb.
Tatl is stupid! I seriously didn't need that one, I guess.... If distance targetting could be done in another way.
Funny to see the different opinions on the fairies. Personally, I don't want a sidekick. I think it makes Link look silly. In the old games, he can deal with everything on his own. Did our ALttP hero need help? I don't think so!

I found this youtube video where they had navi being repeated for about 10 minutes. rather annoying but very funny!!!
I liked Navi. And everyone talks about her constant barrage of HEY! LISTEN! etc etc, but for me she has never actually done it that much at all. But idk.
She was very helpful and I loved how you could get info on the enemies you were facing, wish they would do that again.

Navi can be so annoying...though I've never was bothered by her when I was first playing it. She seemed like such a cool and cute character. Now, after going to a few forums and reading how some people view her, I became easily annoyed by her. To think, if I never went on the forums, such as this forum, I'd never have thought she'd be annoying. But it was worth coming here. :)
I mean she only really FORCES you to listen to her in the very begining of the game and if your bothered by her nagging either mute your TV or just listen to her like ONE box of dialouge... it really isn't that bad...
Inside Deku Tree:
"HEY! You can open the door by pressing A. Pay attention to the action icon!"
"HEY! You can grab that block by pressing A. Pay attention to the action icon!"
Dodongo's Cavern:
"HEY! There's lava pits, so watch your step."
"HEY! Use Z to look the right way so you don't get owned by those sharp metal thingies."
Jabu Jabu's Belly:
(while already holding Ruto)
"HEY! It looks like you won't be able to press this switch with your weight alone!"
"HEY! That red slimy thing is gone, maybe it's cause you cut that thingy."
before Forest Temple:
"HEY! Remember when I taught you about using Z to face the right way? Well I'm telling you again for no reason!"
All forced interrupts. I'm sure I forgot several.
I love Ocarina of Time, but I really wish there was a way to turn off Navi's forced dialogues. There are a lot more than you might remember, and it wastes so much time.

You don't have to listen to Navi. I simply ignore her most of the times. Yes I think she is very annoying but she is also cute.

The biggest problem I had with Navi was that she interrupted at the most annoying of times. Like for example, I'm just about to go to the Fire Temple. I warp into the crater, Navi hasn't said a word yet. I want to look around a little first so I do up C to go into first person view. Right before I press up, Navi decides to annoy me by speaking up at that exact moment.
Navi: "Let's go check that ominous cloud over Death Mountain!"
Me: "What do you think I'm doing in the Death Mountain Crater you blind flying ball of sparkles?!"
I can't help but marvel at her obliviousness sometimes.

Yeah I've had her do similar things lots of times. I'm just doing a little mask stuff so I can do it now rather than later, she doesn't bug me then, but as soon as I get the skull mask and make my way to the Lost Woods, HEY! WHAT!!! What do you think Saria--WHERE DO YOU THINK I'M GOING YOU ANNOYING PIECE OF DUST?

She was never annoying to me except for the Deku Tree Dungeon, after that I was good. But whenever I go to a convention several people continuously say "HEY....LISTEN."

Navi never bothered me. The only thing she does that's annoying is when she makes you listen to gameplay controls, but my first time through that was extremely helpful.

After playing through OoT a second time she really got on my nerves. "Look, there are arrows on the floor!" "This hallway is all twisty!". Does Nintendo really have such low expectations of my intelligence?

Navi is the most annoying creature in all of Zelda. Period. xD
Naah, I'm just joking... sort of.
Now, this is coming from someone who beat WW and TP before OoT, even though I had played OoT and MM as a child (never beat them, though). I had never noticed how useless she is if you're not a novice gamer. If you're someone new to Zelda/OoT, she's very insightful; as she knows everything about enemies/bosses, which comes in handy, even for people who have played the game before and completed it. Navi isn't completely useless after all! <sarcasim> Her habit of automatically telling you the secret of a puzzle is also great! </sarcasim> THANK YOU NAVI, for completing the Deku Tree for me. D| -grumble- always frickin' telling me how to open doors...
AHEM.
In any respect...
I < 3 Navi simply because she's adorible and gives me comic relief, even if she's being serious. : D
I also love her because she was helpful in my humble beginnings as a Zelda gamer, and now makes me laugh at how oblivious she is.
Plus, she's not mean to Link and doesn't push him around like some OTHER fairy we know... -kicks Tatl- ;D
