I'm pretty sure this is a duplicate thread, but that might have just been Zelda music in general. Anyway, I'd have to go with WW. It might not have had as many memorable songs, but throughout the entire game, the music was always totally fitting and set the mood for the area. Forest Haven, Dragon Roost, and Ganondorf Battle were amazing in their own right, too, and the great remixes like Windfall, Outset, Hyrule Castle, and I think Farewell Hyrule King were amazing. The only downside was that it didn't feature Lost Woods/Saria's Song/Sacred Grove at all, but I can deal with that.

Hrmm. Best sound track? I'm going to have to say Wind Waker. Though Majora's Mask is in close second.

Wind Waker has some excellent songs such as:

Opening Theme
Outset Theme
Legendary Hero
Windfall Theme
Dragon Roost Theme
Farewell Hyrule King
Forest Haven Theme
Molgera Battle
Wind Temple Theme

And quite a few others I can not remember off the top of my head. The Great Sea Theme was pretty good too..

Even though it's not my first, MM has great themes such as:

Opening Theme
Clock Town Theme Day 1, 2, 3
Deku Palace Theme
Southern Swamp Theme
Termina Field
Great Bay Coast
Milk Bar

Those are the notable ones for me.

This is probably the nostalgia filter speaking, but I'm gonna have to go with Ocarina of Time. The music was memorable, and despite the MIDI limitations, truly sounded beautiful. It really set the scene for each area you were in.

My favourites:

~Gerudo Valley (THE Ocarina of Time BGM)
~Fire Temple Version 1.0
~Spirit Temple
~Zelda's Lullaby
~Sheik's Theme
~Temple of Time

Mine would be Majora's Mask.

The music in the game had a sense of individuality, a sense of longing, a sense of peace, a sense of Love.

Like the music:

Romani's Ranch
Song of Healing
Song of Storms
Inverted Stone Tower Music
Termina Field

Gah, too many great scores to count. One major reason I love Zelda is because each titles has such a great soundtrack. So I guess I'd have to make my decision from the one that had more music than the others that I liked.

OoT:
Gerudo Desert
Song of Time
Saria's Song
Forest Temple
GANON battle theme
Zora's Domain
Lon Lon Ranch
Song of Storms

MM:
Song of Healing
Clocktown theme (all three days)
Milk Bar

WW:
Dragon Roost Island

TP:
Zora's Domain
Ilia's Theme
Blizzeta Battle Theme
Temple of Time theme
Arbiters Grounds
Gerudo Desert
Dark Lord Ganondorf Battle Theme

Yeah, only the 3D titles for right now.

Wind Waker for sure. That game had a very good soundtrack. I haven't played the gmae in months, and I can still hum most of the songs.

majora's mask had an amazing soundtrack because it was so dark and gloomy.

Majora's mask soundtrack is the best! I like it because its dark and brooding, but it also includes some classic zelda tunes with a dark twist. the song of healing is awesome. and the theme in ikana canyon is cool. I also like the stone tower temple theme.

This is tough (I seem to say that a lot).
OoT, MM, and AoL are probably my top 3 soundtracks.
OoT had things like Gerudo Valley, MM had the Pirate's Fortress, and all of AoL's songs are amazing.

If I had to think about it enough, MM would probably come out on top, but it's a very close race indeed.

My favorite sound track is probably the hyrule feild theme from Tp it is cool and sounds like it was ment to be that sound track.:nerd:

Hmm... tough, tough decision. Overall, probably OoT. I can't think of any music I really dislike from it, and the Ocarina cutscenes with Sheik were simply spectacular.

Alttp had my two favorite themes.. Hyrule Castle and Dark Mountain, but those are the only two I really looove from that game so it's second in my mind. Then you've got TP.. I really liked it's Kakariko Village/Dark World mashup, the Temple of Time dungeon music.. and others. But I digress, it's hard to really settle on one game for me.

Picked WW first. My favorites:

Staff Credits
Legendary Hero
Dragon Roost Island
Windfall Island (just realized a couple of days ago that it's a remix of Kakariko Village)
Medli's Awakening

But Majora's Mask comes in a close second:

Song of Healing
Clock Town, First Day
Kamaro's Dance and Bremen March (FTW!?)

Majora's Mask. It introduced so many incredible tracks while keeping most of OoT's best songs. It also had my single favorite Zelda song of all time, Stone Tower Temple. :)

My favourite soundtrack would have to be between;

Ocarina of Time- Contained some truly epic music which I could listen to over and over...

Majora's Mask- Contained some of my favourite themes from OoT. And its original themes were all great.

Twilight Princess- The main theme was truly memorable. And some of the Dungeon Themes and overworld themes were some of the best peices of video game music I have ever heard.

Heh, these threads always put my brain into conflict. I can never decide without second guessing myself.

I think the my favorite soundtrack overall would have to be Ocarina of Time's. So many good songs came from that game that I love, that I think that it's the one I'll go with.

But the Wind Waker and Majora's Mask both had some great songs as well. Majora's Mask for, as Axle said, bringing back many of the songs from OoT, while introducing some great new ones as well.

As for Wind Waker, the sound quality of the music was better (if I remember right), but I really liked the songs such as Windfall Island and Outset Island that took part of the Kakariko village and Kokiri Forest themes and made new songs out of them. The upbeat/happiness of the music was nice, and matched the game well.

I think ALttP had the best musical arrangements. It brought Zelda's Lullaby and Ganon's theme to the series and the other major themes of the game are instant classics. Hyrule Castle is probably the most re-used, but others that are fantastic include the Dark World theme, Kakariko Village, the Fairy Theme, and a fantastic rendition of the Overworld Theme.

I know most flock to OoT, but I wonder if sometimes that's because the music played prominently into the game itself. While there were nice little pieces composed for the Ocarina, none of them were really all that fleshed out. I really do love Gerudo Valley, and the Windmill Hut Theme, but overall the dungeon themes are not hum-able. Lack of the Overworld Theme is a disappointment, even though Hyrule Field's theme is well done. ALttP's soundtrack are all full of hum-able themes, and that brings it to top position for me.

As for easily listenable, I choose TP, mainly because of the advancement in VG music tech. It's listenable as a movie soundtrack, although some instuments are still somewhat 'fake' and evident to being MIDI-based. It's still got the best quality to the music, but only really because it was made in the middle of this decade. If ALttP's music were in the TP quality, then it would definitely be tops, but 16-bit music isn't always pleasant to crank on the stereo.

I'd say definetly ALTTP for just two thatr definetly are the most amazing thing you'd've ever heard!

Dark overworld and Dark Moutain and Skull forest.

Majora's Mask, if just because of the Song of Healing. Also, it contained some of the best songs from Ocarina of Time, like the Lost Woods/Woods of Mystery, Lon Lon/Romani Ranch, and Zelda's Lullaby/Ocarina of Time.

Now can you honestly say that any other Zelda game to date has such a great soundtrack? No you cannot.

My favorite is Wind Waker, with its unique boss themes and catchy island tunes, but I'd have to say LttP was the best. It had many great themes that are still being re-used.

OOT, i dont even think theres a discussion on that. I will say windwaker had some really good music i love the great sea music, but its not hyrule field and OOT just they were on their A-Game w/that one

Even though OoT is in second place I still voted for it. Ocarina of Time's songs were warmer and more memorable. I'll never forget the song that plays on the credits. Majora's Mask had a great one, but I choose OoT because it was the first Zelda game I ever got. The first game you get in a series, will always be your favorite - Even if it looks bad in comparison to all of the others. :)

It's a tough tie between A Link to the Past and The Wind Waker.

A Link to the Past was the first to show themes that are very well-known in the Zelda franchise today, especially Zelda's Lullaby (although many people think that it's from OoT). Dark World, Dark Mountain, the Lost Woods, and Hyrule Castle are just some of my favorites. The soundtrack for this game is definitely the most memorable.

As for Wind Waker, the soundtrack is great, as it brought many original songs while keeping the classics. The only one I hate would be the Great Sea song; it's probably my least favorite theme for any overworld. But ones like Dragon Roost Island and Windfall Island are also very memorable.

But then again, the soundtrack for every Zelda game is great (although the only one I like in Phantom Hourglass is Linebeck's theme).
From what I've seen, the soundtrack for Spirit Tracks sounds incredibly promising.

Yea, ST's is pretty good. Overworld, Hyrule Castle, Castle Town, and Wilderness are all pretty memorable. The one thing I didn't like is that they used the same theme (even though it was a good one) for every town. Yes they did a great job of matching the instrumentation etc with the feel of the town, but I would have preferred to have unique songs for each major town.

Oh, also, props go to TP just for Minda's Lament. It may be the sound quality, but it's just such a unique sound for a Zelda title. In fact, it's actually kinda trippy.

it has to be OOT because the music has always come easy to me for it was my first zelda game

Majora's Mask was my favorite soundtrack before Spirit Tracks came along. I loved the catchy Clock Town music, the classic theme used for Termina Field, the upbeat Deku Palace, the appropriately spooky Ikana Valley, the wonderfully odd double theme for the Stone Tower, the memorable Song of Healing and Oath to Order, and the nostalgic OoT soundtracks that were reused.

That being said, the reason ST beat MM for me was that ST is the only video game soundtrack I've heard where I can honestly say I loved every single song, not just most of the songs, but all of them. It is impossible for me to choose a favorite among them all. ST was the only game I've ever played where I like the villains' themes. I hated Majora's theme and OoT Ganon's theme in particular, but I loved the music used for Byrne, Cole, and all forms of Malladus.

the opening theme to A Link to the past was just the best ever and it only just gets better throughout the whole game.
That is a game where 16-bit was done right!!!

Of course ppl will say the console games, but IMO Minish Cap has the best soundtrack. The music is epic, and catchy. Like the Picori Festival, Mount Crenel, the Minish Woods, the Castle and so on.

Looking at a top 25 list of zelda songs I've made, I'd have to go with Wind Waker, as I have the most songs from the game on that list. I really like it for the fact that it's one of the more upbeat soundtracks in the zelda series, and it has a lot of really good dramatic songs.

For me it's a tie between MM, TP, and OoT. All three are complately amazing it's hard to choose. Each has it's own little quirks and songs that stand out from the others.
