So what is/was your favorite subject in school? And what is you least favorite?
My favorite subject was American History. I did not really like the information in the class, but the teacher was the greatest teacher ever! The entire year, we never had homework, and we had one test the entire year. We watched movies every day, and the teacher brought food in at least once a week, and we played games almost everyday!
My least favorite class is a tie. I don't like speech or Spanish.
Speech: The teacher is awesome! However I hate having to get in front of a bunch of people and talk. Now I would be fine with it, but I have a bunch of them mean, stupid(think they are the best) kids in my class, so I really don't want to start to talk in front of them, because they will say 'THAT A LIE!!!' or 'Shut up! You know nothing!'.
Spanish: I liked it in 8th grade, but last year it was about the same, but it turned into a speech class, and the teacher well we will just say that she was not the greatest teacher... For one, she never even went to school to be a Spanish teacher. And she knew less Spanish then most of the kids in the class. And when she would grade the test she went by what she thought was right, and not by what the real answers were. Not only she had no idea what she was doing, but she also gave us quizzes daily. So one day we would get what we would have to do, and the next we would have a huge quiz on it...
So what are yours?
i allways liked history (its some kind of interesting for me)
it has a lot of things about what and why things happened, about presidents like abraham lincon, G. washington (not readed all of his history really) and many lots of infor about the american history.

Favorite: Forensic anthropology as this is one of the things I want to do with a certain amount of my life. Very fascinating and enjoyable.
Least favorite: Methodology, a whole class "learning" stuff anyone living in the 21st century should know already, generally a waste of time.

I hate math because of all the stuff you have to remember. :S

I've always hated English, not because I dislike the subject, but because every English teacher I've had has been absolutely insane. Verbal abuse, constant loss of assignments (on one occasion, I did the same assignment four times because she kept losing it), and borderline obsession were just some of the things I've had to deal with when it comes to English class.
My favorite subject this year insofar has been Government. I love my teacher's methods; instead of just lecturing us and making us take notes, he simply talks to the class about the subject. He wants us to put in our two cents. The entire class is basically one big conversation, and we actually learn in his class.

This year? Probably Algebra 2. I'm doubling up, doing Geometry and Algebra 2 this year so I can get all the math stuff done before Senior year. Geometry is yucky, but I've always loved Algebra. No words or sentences, just numbers, which I love.
I really do not like Physical Science. I find myself not caring about a lot of what it teaches, and all the scientific notations and significant figures are to complicated and confusing to me.

My Favorite Subject is Math, I like Math, it is related to Business, which in turn related to Cash.
My least Favorite is Science. It gives me a headache just listening to some terms that are hard to remember
This current year or any year?
This year, my least favourite course is either my Natural Resources class or my Field class. The Natural Resources one I failed back in the fall, so I have to do it again, and therefore, I don't really like it at this point. My Field class is just dull moreso than anything. Thankfully there is no class for that, but I am continuously putting off the assignment.
My favourite class is probably Post-Wall German Cinema. Sure, there are essays, and the prof is apparently a brutal marker, but I find the movies interesting, and the discussions are fun as well.

My least favourite subject is biochemistry. Boring molecules doing boring stuff to become different boring molecules.....very exciting. The teacher who gave this subject always ended his sentences with ...mjah which was super annoying. I think his colleges were the only ones I fell asleep for a minute or two, even a coffee boost couldn't prevent it O.o

well science is my fav subject (yes i'm a science nerd so deal with it) and math is just plain annoying. I tell ya each year the steps for things that should be basic like long division are completly changed. It's just so hard for me to keep from getting left behind (i'm surprised I haven't failed a couple grades at the evil hands of math)

I despised chemistry. I assumed that I would love it, since I liked science, but I had a terrible teacher in high school.
Favorite subject? Probably art. I'm taking a photography class right now and I love it :)

My favorites include Geography & Philosophy. I was (and am still) always curios about the world, different cultures, biomes, maps etc. I´ve also always been interested in "truth", wisdom & speculation in general and hence I did mention philosophy.
I enjoyed school mostly but I did dislike a certain kind of subject: Technology! Even though I´m decent in Mathematics I can´t seem to enjoy the more "practical" uses of it :(

Well, since I started my 1st year at a university, my favorite class would have to be Psychology. Even though the lectures are....awful, most of the material that I read in the book, have been pretty interesting.
My least favorite class is definetly Art History.
I like Art....Drawing, painting, etc. But, learning about the history of certain pieces of art really isn't for me. Its boring!

Well it all depends on the teacher for that subject. For example, I hated English last year but this year it is not the worst subject. So anyway,
Best: P.E
Worst: Math
Best at: A tie between French and Math
Worst at: English

I have a few favourites. Out of subjects I'm taking currently, it has to be Music and Japanese. They're dead easy (they're my strongest subjects), and I never get homework for them! ^^ I also really liked my year 8 religion class, because we never did anything. Normally, religion is incredibly boring, but I had the best teacher ever, so all we did was play games.
My least favourite? P.E.. Always P.E. (or Gym, as the Americans call it). I have never, ever in my life been good at sport. I can barely run 50 metres. DT/woodwork I also loathed. I don't really like getting my hands dirty and I could never make anything that looked remotely like what it was supposed to look like. I also hated the cooking part of Home Ec. Not that I hate cooking, it's just that I hate the time limit. I get panicky. Maths is alright, especially since I chose the easier Maths class, because hey, Maths B is not a good choice if you're someone who forgets her algebra every year and has to relearn it.

My schedule for Seventh Grade is...
1. Algebra I
2. PE/Health (rotates every two weeks)
3. French
4. Orchestra
5. Science
6. Social Studies
7. Language Arts
Normally I would rank them this way (best to worst)
1. Algebra I
2. PE
3. Science
4. Language Arts
5. Orchestra
6. French
7. Social Studies
8. Health
But, because of the teachers I have this year, It would look this way
1. PE
2. Social Studies
3. Language Arts
4. French
5. Orchestra
6. Algebra I
7. Science
8. Health
Teachers kind of drastically change how much I like a subject. For example, my Algebra I teacher is some 60 year old single lady with a really soft voice that yells at the top of her lungs when someone is talking while she is talking, or disrupting in any kind of way. But my Social Studies teacher is this young dude that's real laid back and likes to have fun in class. So if you exclude Health (since it's barely a subject in my opinion), normally, my least favorite subject would be Social Studies, because learning about the worlds' past and different cultures really puts me to sleep. I like geography, though, and it was also fun learning about the Mayans/Aztecs/Incas in 6th grade. Normally, Algebra I, or math in general, is my favorite subject. Working with numbers and solving puzzles is just so much fun for me, and I like not having to write notes. I'm good at it, and I'm one of the few kids that thinks that it's fun to solve algebraic equations, etc.

My favorites are English and science. Least favorites are gym and art. I usually end up aching after gym. I also hate taking the pacer tests. Basically you run back and forth repeatedly as many times as you can until you're out breath. The good thing about art in high school is that you aren't forced to take it. Coloring stuff takes so long and my drawings look like they were drawn by a little kid.

My least favorite subjects:
Any math class. I'm just not any good at numbers. I go in after or before school for help on my assingments, but I still have problems understanding.
I also dislike Physical Science. The physics unit was the worse, though. All the formulas to remember and whatnot was really challenging for me.
My favorite subjects are English (I love writing and reading), and pretty much any elective (art, drawing and design, health, self defense, gym, foods class...).

i hate latin histry of the art and french latin is deaaaaaaad language
This semester, my favourite class is either German or Geomorphology, whereas my least favourite class is either Statistics or Canada (Yes. The course is just called Canada).
I'm thinking Geomorph would be my favourite. There's not much work involved in that class (at least not yet. :P).
I can't narrow down between the others though. They're both uninteresting.

Out of the courses I am taking this year, I would have to say that as of yet my favorite has been Physics. It helps that before taking the subject I took an interest in learning about the subject myself through reading, watching documentaries, and listening to lectures (i.e. reading Physics of the Impossible and watching the BBC documentary Time). My least favorite course for this year would have to be English, though I do well in the subject. In most situations, English for me is composed of lesson after lesson of review and then at the very end of the class you begin to read classic literature. I personally would be much eager if I knew the majority of the class would be spent focused on literature, instead of spending almost half of the lessons on review.

I have a tie too. My two favorite are Computer Architecture and Organization, and Calculus III. I like these two because I'm a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics (yes I know I'm a geek :( ). I also have a tie in two I dislike Speach and health. Speach, because its just no fun, and health because its boring and too easy.
My other classes are Comparative Programming Languages, and Physics Lab, but they're sort of neutrual.

Why do so many people dislike math and numbers? When I first attended college as a Computer Science Major, I was never a Math major at the time. After taking a few Calculus classes and doing research into what I want to do for a living, I've decided to get Math minor at the very least. Then looking at the number of credits between a Math minor and a Math major (noting Computer Science and Math majors share a lot of credits), there was only a 7 credit difference. So I changed my major to Computer Science and Mathematics.

My least favorite subject is History. It's so...boring. I don't like it. Maybe that's because our history in Quebec is really dull or something else. But anyway. I had the choice to pick this subject again this year, but I didn't choose it. :)
My favorite is probably... English (as a second language), or Maths. But I don't know, Maths is just a bit too hard for me this year. :S And I don't like my current teacher... and I don't like my English teacher neither...
Why do so many people dislike math and numbers? I hate both Math and English, but if it helps at all, I'd rather math. :)

Both Physical Science and English. I hate the math that we have to do in Physical Science (yet I like my algebra class.. >_>). I'm not good at remembering the formulas at all. >_< And I would like English if the teacher didn't make us read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. That book ruined that class for me..forever.. ;-;

My favorite subject would have to be psychology. I would hope so since that is what I am majoring in. I've always been really passionate about the subject.
My least favorite subject is writing. I love writing, honestly, but I don't like having to read books that I find uninteresting and write about subject matter that I find uninteresting. So end result, writing is awesome, writing/english class sucks.

I'm having trouble picking between History and English as my favorite classes. I liked Psychology and Latin as well, though they weren't my favorites.
The only class I've never liked is Math, because just reading and understanding the material enough to have an idea of what's going on isn't enough. You have to strain yourself over it, and carefully reason over every little detail. There's also no room for opinion or self-expression... there's only one way to do it, and only one way to write it. I also find it annoying because I'm expected to show my work... I can often come up with a correct answer but struggle writing concrete explanation of how I came up with it. Basically, it feels like I have to put a lot more effort into math than into other classes, and get a lot less back out of it than other classes despite that.

↑ I used spend my time in algebra talking about Zelda. I’m serious.
Yeah, so I’d say Science is my favorite subject. There are so many different sciences, and I understand and enjoy being in science class.
My least favorite? Well, it’s typically Social Studies/History, but this year it’s English. My teacher this year is kind of mean to me and doesn’t recognize my writing talents like my previous English teachers…

No kidding me? What grade are you in now?
Also, I hate mean teachers, especially those substitute ones. :P
This year, specially this year, chemistry seems to be really bad... And the teacher... Well, at least our "Chemistry II" teacher seems high all the time. He surely takes something else than just breakfast before coming to class.
Apparently this is a common fact in my new school, for the "Math II" has the most fun/bizzare yet inteligent teacher I've ever had. Have you ever had a teacher who suddenly starts talking to triangles and forgets about the subject he's supposed to teach?
Oh, and my favorite subject would surely be History. Or Geography... Both have great teachers and nice stuff to learn. Useful, at least.

My least favorite subject would easily have to be History. There's just so much to learn.
Here's my list.
Best to worst
Science
Math
English
Social Studies
I hardly like any of them though. e-e

When I was in school:
Best - Chemistry (well, it has to be - I'm studying it now)
Worst - German (note that I'm German and it's therefore similar to your English courses). I just hated being forced to interpret centuries-old boring literature with sometimes archaic language. Plus the teachers always gave their grades solely based on sympathy and never on how good you actually were. So in one year where the teacher apparently liked me I had 1s and 2s (=As/Bs) and in the next year we got one who couldn't stand me at all (it was always blamed on me if there was some noise in class etc... you know what I mean) and - coincidentally of course - my grades dropped to 4 (=D). And we had that teacher for a total of 3 years :/
Until now at university (all subjects are chemistry-related):
Best - Inorganic chemistry. It's all quite logical, not much stuff to learn and has a solid connection to reality.
Worst - Quantum mechanics (as a part of Physical chemistry). It's totally unlogical, only consists of calculating, calculating and more calculating, its theory is more of a philosophical than a solid scientifical nature and needless to say it couldn't be farther away from reality.

I've finally reached those years in which I choose all my subjects (well... English is compulsory, but I'd probably do that anyway), it's a shame that the workload increases 10 fold, and that I'm doing 14 units, many people think that that's suicidal. My favourite subject is easily French, going there for 3 months helped me out a little. I can hold a good conversation with my teacher. After that it's maths, lots of work, but I find it really interesting.

To be honest, I've never really been much of a wonder student. I wasn't gifted with any amazing talents, nor did I excel at any subjects. However, there was one class where I did really bad at, and by bad I mean worse than all of the other classes combined. I'll be frank here, I love learning languages. It's one of the few things that I can actually do well and seem to make sense to me. There was one thing I just couldn't learn no matter how much I studied, though, and that was German. Yes, the lovely language from Deutschland. There was nothing too bad about learning the vocabulary or the phonology, but the grammar was just something I couldn't grasp. It didn't help that I had a teacher that came straight from the depths of hell, either. The guy was totally out there and is responsible for the only time I've ever been sent out of class... and I can tell you, that says something. :P
Right now in college the things I'm bad at are, well, creative classes. I can't do those and it's the reason I switched studies. Currently I'm focussing on getting my Propedeuse and hopefully finding something else that really interests me. Classes like Sociology and Philosophy are a lot of fun, but I wouldn't want to do something with those later in life. I would love to study a foreign language, though!

Last year's schedule from favorite to least favorite:
French
Spanish
P.E.
Socials (I LOVE the geography section but thought history was ok.)
Science
English
Principles of Math (the highest level of the three math levels in our school)
Planning (Basically planning for the future; banking, sex ed, job-hunting, taxes, colleges, etc.)
Next year I'm not taking Planning or P.E. and I'm taking Drafting and art instead.

My favorite: Math and Physics. I've liked them, ever since I was in elementary school. I love how you can use many different ways to solve a single math exercise. Unfortunately, Math is not my best subject... Well, it was my best subject when I was 10 years old or younger, but not anymore. It keeps getting harder. I should study more though...
My best subject: English. Um... English isn't my first language. I've only learned it since I entered middle school. Which means 3 years ago. And I think I'm pretty good at it by now. I still make some grammar mistakes here and there, but not too much and I usually correct them right after.
My least favorite: Literature. I. Hate. It. It's sooo time-consuming and boring. I can't even count the times that I fell asleep in Literature classes. Too many. And the essays. Each of them took me hours to complete, and they were all ridiculously hard. How are you supposed to write a 5000-6000 words essay from a 3-word topic?
Meego
08-13-2010, 01:54 PM
Hmm, let me think. These are my three favourite subjects.
Science
Yay! My favourite subject! :D We have biology, physics and chemistry at my school and I love all three! I love experimenting in chemistry and watching chemicals react because you can do some pretty cool stuff with science. I love physics because everything has a logical reason and explanation. I absolutely adore biology, I love learning about human anatomy and everything is just so fun and interesting!
English
I really like english. The reasons for this are because I love words, gammar, spelling and reading! I love reading books and writing long stories with detailed explanations and descriptions. I also love poetry and similes and metaphors. So, writing is fun until it hurts my hands.
Maths
Maths is my other favourite subject. Because even though at times it can be really tedious it usually makes logical sense and numbers are good. I don't so much like 3D visualising and shapes because I don't see anything useful in that. But I still love arithmetic.
Science, maths and English are my favourites so I like core subjects with logic and fun.

My favorite is Math. (Infact, I am studieing to be an architect.) My least favorite subject is writing/grammer. I still have terrible handwriting....
-as a student in a school of Architecture-
Well I hate to break it to you, but usually architects (in school and in practice) leave the math to the engineers, or at least to the biggest newb at an architecture firm.
Writing/grammer is probably more important than math, to be honest. In my current curricula I only need math up to CalculusI (which I did in high school because Math was my favorite subject too) and I need several courses in Literature or with "significant writing components".
I don't mean to turn you off to architecture, just wanted to say.
Favorite subject is Design. I take a design studio every semester and I spend nearly all my time working on drawings, sketches, models, etc for that class. I spend 15 hours a week in that class, but only get 5 credit hours () so you really have to be in love with it to do well. It's a good mix of work on computer and analog work as well.
My least favorite subject has to be any kind of writing. <But that's only if its a specific writing course.
If I'm writing on an interesting topic I usually don't mind doing research and writing 5+ page papers on a regular basis.
Literature courses are a close second, but there's always something that you'll find interesting in these classes.
