The longest I have ever stayed up is something like 3am. No, it wasn't Chirstmas, a Birthday, or any special event, and no, I didn't have insomnia. I was just really bored. Playing on my computer all night. I eventually fell asleep without even noticing. Though I'm only 11. I want to stay awake for 24 hours some time.

I've stayed up until 2:45am. Its kind of a funny story on how it happened.:) My family and our friends family went to a hotel/watetpark and on there way up they hit a pig! So my dad went down to help them and they didn't come back until 2:45. But the whole next day my dad and there dad was fixing there car, and me and my friend played black cat. But I had a good time.:)

Well, I've stayed up like three days consecutively. But if we are talking about just a night, then I have stayed up until five a.m.
The longest I've ever stayed up continuously is a little more than 24 hours. Couple days ago I stayed up until about 5 am, then got bored and went to sleep anyway.

I could stay up all night but due to my short attention span I just havent. I feel all the good tv ends at around 1:00 so I think the only thing to do is go to bed.

Went 36 hours with out sleeping once and pulled about 2 all nighter in a row. I stay up all the time since I have difficulty trying to fall asleep. On average I only get about 6 hours of sleep even though for my age I need about 8-10 hours of sleep. Not getting enough sleep effects how you think and feel through out the day. You can't think clearly, you like an emotional wreck. So getting a lot of sleep is a better idea than staying up. But staying up late is kind of fun though. XD

My friends sometimes hold gaming nights that usually last till 5 AM. The longest I've stayed awake was 7 AM playing Brawl with them. Like Smitie, I don't really feel like doing it again. :P

I've gone almost 48 hours without sleep.
Usually I only get a few hours of sleep anyway, but oddly enough, the less sleep I get, the more awake I feel. For example, I slept at 3am last night and woke at 8am. I have never felt more awake.
Wait until you become a teenager, then it will seem normal to stay up late doing absolutely nothing.

4 days and nights. During an FTX way back in the days of bootcamp, it was required that we stay awake for 3 days and nights. I managed to go 4, a few others actually went 5. I passed out from exhaustion on the march back, though. Funny, once you hit over 24hrs, it's a little easier to stay awake. Something with the brain and certain chemicals kicking in or something like that.

4 days!? I'd get dizzy from staying awake so long. My brain stops thinking and I don't see right if I try to stay up too long. When I stay up for ages, my body gets very tired and I just collapse from exhaustion. I don't know how you made it 4 days! I'd actually like to be an insomniac, and have more more time to do things. :)

I personally Have pulled an all nighter and then once it was morning I fell asleep! lol
Well, last month on my trip, I stayed awake all night (kinda coming and going, but never really asleep) then when morning came, we were allowed to go to sleep. That way we could get used to being 4.5 hours earlier. Then, I didn't get to bed until like 1 in the morning.
But before that the latest I stayed up was until about 10 in the morning. Ugh.

During my night shift i have to stay up till 7:15AM. :xd:
But my times are really different, every week i start another time. If i have the normal dayshift i stay awake till 23:00. The others are from the late times.
Normally in the weekends i stay awake till 5:00AM, can be earlier and later too. 5:00 is the avarage. I am kind of a night person, i hate to live in the mornings.

Once, with the use of caffeine pills, I stayed up for seventy-two hours. By that point, I was so far gone that I couldn't hold a coherent conversation and found everything to be hilarious.
I also did this during the school week, so things were... eventful.

I'm not a fan of staying up for days, even though, I have before. When I went to Scotland in 2005, I was so excited to see everything that I hardly took the time to sleep. I had went about 2 days without sleeping then, which was probably the longest I've ever went. I have spent a day awake before, and probably will do it again when I'm very busy or have to in order to do something (Tom and I stayed up all night waiting at Best Buy to obtain the Legend of Zelda DS Lite bundle).
I'm a night owl though, I love to be awake at nighttime, and so I tend to stay up until the wee hours of the morning quite frequently. I usually stay awake (the longest in a day) until 3:00 or 4:00 AM.

My longest was about 48 hours. I was working to meet a huge deadline some time ago and just kept at it. I sort of ended up moving beyond a point where I was at a need for sleep and just entered a zombified state of awake but dreary. When I finally went to bed, it was at about 6am. I passed my father on the way upstairs. He said "Good morning," as I said "Good night"!

Funny, once you hit over 24hrs, it's a little easier to stay awake.
Thats the truth... May 1st, ya know the one that just passed. I was up over 28 hours... I worked the grave shift (11pm to 7am), hadnt been able to sleep really other then a 2 hour nap before hand, because of night classes, and that morning I had another class. During that class, I got a text message, one of my pals had a baby, so naturally I went and saw her in the hospital, and stayed a while. On my way home, (I had been up for 24 hours at this point, just beginning to get my second wind) I was stopped at a red light and a SUV plowed into my car, damaging it pretty heavily.
Took another hour to get all the information... license, insurance, vehicle information... yada yada yada...
Then I got home and the real fun began... my laptop was trapped in my trunk, and rain water was leaking in... the trunk wouldnt open because of how the vehicle hit me, it smashed my trunk, and made the key not work.
So we spent the next few hours removing the back seat of my car, so that we could save my lappy from water damage, fortunatly my backpack had protected it :) and then I had to call the insurance company and file my claim.
Longest day of my life, I remember being so happy when I finally got to lay down in bed... Heck I deserved it.

I really have no idea how anyone can do that and have fun! I did it twice, and I felt terrible around noon the day after, both times. I was really grouchy, easily irritated, and felt sleep-deprived. It wasn't fun. :(
The longest I usually stay up is about 11:00 on school nights, and maybe 12:00-1:00 on weekends. What's stupid is that I've been waking up at the early hours in the morning recently (4:00-5:00-ish), which means I might start going to bed earlier, which will be really hard for me.

When I was younger I used to be able to stay up for days. Especially during nights before I was going on a planned vacation to a theme park and so on. Also, when I would get a nice new video games. If it involved multiplayer, I often stayed up all night playing it. I've actually fallen asleep playing Halo and Final Fantasy XI.
On a serious note, when I used to play Final Fantasy XI, I would go to bed somewhere between 4-8 AM, sleep until the afternoon, and do it all over again. But like I said, this was when I was young and didn't have a job, bills, etc...

Uhhh... probably about 2 A.M. in the morning. Although it's important to note that there have been nights I've gone to bed earlier than that, but gotten up really freaking early in the morning. it's a greater loss of sleep, even if I didn't go to bed as late.
I also regularly stay up until 1:30 A.M. (and sometimes about 2 A.M.) every Saturday night. Mainly so I can stay up to see new episodes of Bleach. :P

Let's see.... Ahh. I was on a day-trip to France with my class one time, and it required us to catch a coach at 12am (so we would have the whole day there and arrive back at about the same time). So after a normal day of high school, we all went back at midnight to get on the coach, and I spent the night playing Mario Kart DS with several people and counting large mail and stationary vans against my friend... then we travelled to various villages and shops that day, returning the next night... I remember the only sleep I got was a 30 minute nap while sat around the coach in the Channel Tunnel train, man it was so hot in there. Rofl I laughed when some of the boys fell asleep in eachother's laps o_o
So... that was around... 36 hours with only a nap, but I'm not doing that again any time soon- I slept until 3pm the next day o_o
My sleep pattern's kind of non-existent anyway, on normal nights I end up going to bed at 1am, and on some weekends at 3-4am. Yet all I do is sit there watching stuff on the internet, or talking, or playing games. o__o
...Although since ST comes out on a friday over here, I'll probably end up pulling an all nighter without meaning to on that night xDDD

You guys are all pretty impressive, staying awake for days. The best I've ever managed to do was stay awake until about 3-4 A.M. at a sleepover. And then I was woken up two hours later. *groans*
Usually, if I don't have to go to school the next day, I stay up until about 11 P.M. to 1 A.M. on average, waking up at 8-9 A.M.. There is a scientific reason behind this - when you become a teenager, your body's sleep patterns change and you naturally fall asleep later and wake up later.
Also, I remember when my brother got Civilization IV, and stayed up almost all night playing it. Apparently he couldn't remember when he went to bed. He also pulled an all-nighter trying to finish a uni assignment. Coffee helped with that one.

Well, a few months ago, I was at a Sleep-Over at my friend's house with three other friends.
We sat up talking and playing the Wii and our DS' to about 11 PM, afterwhich, we got tired, went to the kitchen, had a drink of juice, then went to bed.
We sat up talking to about 3 am. And eventually, we all fell asleep.
That was one of the times that I can remember, but after some talking to friends, I rememberd this;
It was in August, and I was staying at another friend's house.
We had went to the swimming pool that day, so by the time we got to his house, we were already pretty tired.
We decided that we would stay up playing Pokemon, go on the internet, and talk. Eventually, we both got tired, and we decided to call it a night.
My friend fell asleep within about ten minutes, but I couldn't fall asleep. I tried playing tricks on my friend to resolve my boredom, but still no sleep. :(
I lay awake until about 5 am, and then, I began to fall asleep....that was until, the birds started squaking! >:(
I covered my ears, fell asleep, and woke up like a bear about 2 hours later.
If I ever stay up late, I wake up extremely grouchy the next morning. I'm not a morning person at all.
Another of these events was when my school decided to take a trip to Scotland. we had to get up at 5 AM in the morning, go to school and get the bus to the airport. Suprisingly, I wasnt grouchy that morning.
The world is quite peaceful at 5 AM. But in saying that, I took a few 30 minute naps on the way there and back.
But, all was not well. The trip was not very fun. But I enjoyed it despite everything else.
But, getting back to the topic at hand, the longest I have stayed up is probably to about 5 AM to 6 AM in the morning.

When it comes to video games, online multiplayers and the like, I have an addictive personality. I'll sacrifice sleep just to enjoy them for a little longer.
I don't remember which game it was (probably a Final Fantasy or Zelda), but I stayed up for four days playing it. Alas, I still had to go to work each day, so I enriched myself with massive amounts of caffeine. Like someone else said, it's really not so bad after that first 24-27 hour period. I personally find that I get 'in the zone' after long periods of sleep deprivation, in which I have some really.. unique thoughts. Stuff I've never thought of before.
Anywho, the short answer is four days.

I used to me mildly insomniac, and couldn't sleep at night, for a few months my general sleeping pattern was 5am-middayish. It sucked so badly though, and even though I struggle to sleep these days its a whole lot better than that was.

Where as I'm useless at the 24 hour mark.
At that stage I get angry at the drop of a hat, don't really talk all that much, and sooner or later, it gets to the stage that the next time I sit down or lie down, i'm out like a light near instantly.

My record isn't anyway near as high as Vincent's but I've hit the 43 hour mark at the highest before I just decided I needed some sleep. It really isn't that hard once you enter the time where you just go from tired to over tired (I don't know if you guys call it that) and you just feel normal, sure your eyes feel heavy but as long as you don't get into a position where you are likely to fall asleep then you are fine.
Also as Vincent and Zeruda said, if you go past 24 hours it's quite easy to stay awake but I only really do this during long holidays so that I can play games to keep myself occupied while the time goes by, there is probably nothing worse than being bored for hours on end.

One time when I was younger, I became afraid of falling sleep because I thought I might never wake up (or that something might happen while I was sleeping). Somehow, I managed to stay up for about a week, but I felt REALLY weird. My mind didn't work quite right, my reactions were sluggish, and I couldn't even count to 3 without making mistakes. I ended up spending a lot of time mindlessly marching between the front door and the stairway humming the Super Mario World's Koopa castle music, pretending I was one of those Dry Bones things guarding something, occasionally stopping to look around nervously. Somehow, this kept me awake.
I ended up falling into this weird cycle where I would stay up for a week, fall asleep for two hours to thirty minutes, freak out that I fell asleep, stay up for another week, and then repeat. It lasted for about a month. Eventually, I figured out that how long I stay up has no effect on the passage of time... the sun rises and falls at the same rate, the night always lasts the same amount of time no matter what I do. I also somehow got over the idea that I was missing something by sleeping, because I realized that I couldn't appreciate anything that was going on around me in a sleep-deprived state.
These days, it seems like I can only manage to stay up for three days if I have to, but it usually makes me sick if I go over two days.

30 hours once when I was 13 or 14. My buddy came over for a sleep over the day I got James Bond Nightfire for the PS2. Anyways, no sleeping was done, and we both ended up staying up all night playing, up until 12 in the afternoon of the next day.
I could definitely stay up longer nowadays, but I don't have any reason to.

I occasionally get bouts of half-insomnia on special occasions (ie night before first day of school) were I randomly drift into light sleep for maybe a total of 10 minutes every hour and stay alert and awake for the rest of the night. When I was younger and went to sleepovers we stayed up hyped up on sugar before crashing at about 4-5 am. Otherwise I sometimes like to stay up until around 12 to 1 am doing random stuff on the computer.

Well when I was like 10 or 11, I was on a trip to Arizona. I woke up at around 7 or something earlier that day and stayed up until 3 AM. I didn't sleep anytime from 7AM to 3AM.

The longest I have stayed up before was three whole days. It started with one night staying up late chatting with a friend and drinking a lot of caffeine... eventually when it was 5 am and I wasn't tired, I figured going to sleep wasn't worth it. It was this logic that also made me stay up a second day... and of course a third day... :S Considering the circumstances, it wasn't exactly pleasant. Nor do I plan on going that long without sleep again. of course though, on a regular basis, I usually stay up until about 2-3 am. I'm a late nighter.

The longest as a child was something around 5:30 AM on New Year 1995 (I was 7 back then). We celebrated in a neighbour's house and I can still remember how I totally didn't want to go home yet at around 5 AM.
Then at the age of 12 we went on a ski holiday and I was so excited that I couldn't sleep the day before (which was the last day of school so I stood up at 7AM). But on the first day there, after some hours of skiing I was so tired that I fell asleep at 5 PM which I think is the earliest time I ever went to bed (if one doesn't count "siesta" etc.). And I slept until 9 AM of the next day, yes, 16 hrs, which was probably my longest sleep.
2 years ago I got up at 10 AM the one day, couldn't sleep the night, had an uni course the next day at 8 AM and in the evening helped at some kind of village festival until 2:30 AM, so I got into bed at 3 AM, that was probably my longest (41 hrs). The strange thing here: I was really tired in the morning and afternoon of the second day but not at all in the evening...

I stayed up until 3AM twice. The first time was when we were coming back from a trip to Pheonix For thos who don't know, it's in Arizona. I stayed awake the entire trip. I did it again but I didn't really mean to the second time. Some of my parents' friends from church brought their familty to play cards. Their kids wouldn't stop making noise and I stayed up.

During high school I once stayed up for a full weekend. Even when I tried to sleep, I couldn't, so by the time Monday morning and classes came, I was really out of it. Now, however, I work the 11-7 shift, so I'm up most nights all night long. I'm almost always either sleeping far too much or am extremely sleep deprived as a result.

Well, since its gone I might as well say it again. I've stayed up between 24 and 48 hours. This was during my winter break of 2009. I stayed up a whole 24 hours on Christmas Eve, and a maybe even Christmas day, I don't know. The first 24 are the hardest, after that, its smooth sailing XD

I go to bed pretty early, so I haven't stayed up that long. Some may laugh at me, but then when I get to school, I can laugh at the people complaining that they're very tired, or are hungry because they didn't have enough time for a good breakfast.

I have insomnia. So, I go through periods of time where I can't sleep for 1-4 days. Sometimes, hallucinations can start after the 3rd day of no sleep. It's a real bummer. Recently, my insomnia has prevented me from sleeping for two days.

Man, I'm lame compared to you guys.
On an average night, I usually stay up either till 10 or 11.
The only exception to that is sleepovers, and most of the time I try to stay up all night but by 4 AM I'm tired and go to sleep(then wake up at 7:30, because I HAVE to be a morning person-_-)

I've pulled of many an all-nighter, especially during the summer. I have sleep issues to begin, too, so that's definitely a factor. The longest I've gone without sleep was probably about two and a half days or so, though I'm not sure if that counts considering I was terribly ill at the time.
Otherwise, it'd be a day and a half.

i have stayed up the 24 hours and 2 mins because I hate horror movies and we watched one based on a true story... Well Lets just say I stood guard all night hoping aliens wouldn't get me... at my friends house...

Generally speaking though these days I stay up until around 3-4am.

About 44 hours or so. I stood up all night, stayed awake the entire next day, then fell asleep at about 4am the next night/morning. At that point I was hallucinating and I had trouble going to sleep because I was seeing things every time I closed my eyes. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't plan on staying awake the entire night ever again.

About 24 hours. From 10:00 AM to 9-10 AM the following day. That day wasn't Christmas or New Year Eve or any special day, just a normal day and I didn't feel like sleeping. So, I stayed awake just to see how long I could. That wasn't a very good idea. And then I fell as sleep on my laptop when I couldn't take it anymore...
I go to a concert each month called Dubnium which plays Reggae, Dubstep and such, it goes on from 10pm till 7am. So, bearing this in mind the longest took me to get home from this and get into bed for the rest of the day would have probably been 10am seeing as I generally messaround with mates after it's finished!

I once went 5 days without sleep, but one day i just collapsed on my desk and my teacher woke me up and made me answer the question on the board. i was asleep and no idea what the question was cause my glasses were in my desk and she wouldn't let me put them on, so i said "i dunno." she made me stay in for recess and scrub the drool off my desk.

Hm. The longest time I stayed up was either one of two events. The first of which was when I was playing OoT for the first time, I had just gotten the Master Sword, explored almost all of the Adult overworld, and played through the Forest Temple. I had stayed up so late, that I actually didn't remember much of the Forest Temple until I replayed OoT; I probably did other things after that, but I had definitely been playing for over 24 hours.
The second of which was definitely one time raiding in WoW, and we were doing an achievement that required that no one in the raid die throughout the entire dungeon (which was quite a feat). For those of you that aren't familiar with WoW, I'll just say that this is a very difficult thing to do that required flawless teamwork, execution, and focus; needless to say, it was a lot of pressure. Funny thing is, though, that this isn't why I stayed up; I got nervous that I would make a mistake, so I took some extra medication for ADHD, because I was paranoid that I'd screw up. However, I'd already taken my dosage for that day, but I took more to try and ensure I'd stay focused. For those of you that don't know, a common prescription for ADHD contains methamphetamines, which increase alertness and increase your heart rate. Methamphetamines, when taken by people without being prescribed, will exacerbate these side effects incredibly, creating the drug with the street name "speed." In people with ADHD, it requires a large quantity of methamphetamine to be dangerous; unfortunately, that's what I had taken.
Ironically, I ended up missing the raid altogether because I had to be rushed to the hospital because my heart rate was out of control. If I recall correctly, my heart rate was somewhere over 200; when your heart rate reaches 300, your heart has a very high chance of failing (often by exploding, at such a high heart rate). Feel free to correct the numbers if you know more about this than I do. Regardless, I OD'd in the hopes that I wouldn't fail my friends by making a mistake in the raid, but I ended up missing the raid altogether.
Anyway, I returned from the hospital the next morning at around 5:00 am, after being told that I was just under a dangerous level of ingestion. Dueto the extra alertness provided by the medication, I was up until around noon because I couldn't fall asleep (literally).
The good news in all this was that I found out the next day that my buddies went on the raid without me and successfully completed the achievement.
Well, now I'm certainly wiser on the matter. O.o
