View Full Version : What's Really Annoying to You?

What, in the Zelda series (besides Navi) annoys you the most?
Me? I’d have say the “beep beep beep” when your life is low.
What about you guys?

Zarom

Yeah. I have to say the ''beep beep beep'' is really annoying, but it doesn't happen to me often, I'm a skilled player after all! :D

I don't really find anything annoying in Zelda. Some people say Tingle, Navi, Tatl or Midna is annoying, but not me. I never found them annoying!

No... I can't think of much other things... sorry. :(

Monsters. They are annoying as...well, you know. ^^ Right?

Josh
08-28-2009, 11:26 PM
Definitely the heart beep.

Whenever Link finds a variant of rupee everytime you restart the game there's a whole happy screen for it.

ReDeads constantly humping you all the time.

Triforce Chart collecting.

Seahats, Gyorgs and Battleships constantly knocking me off my boat.

Heart Beep.

"Honey and Darling" from OoT and Majora's Mask. Only characters in the entire series that drive me insane. I blame the sounds they make.

Any Zelda game where you can only assign two items to a button at a time. Especially in MC where the sword and shield count as items.

Easy bosses.

(TP specific)
Having to go through the "Rupee collection screen" every time you reset the game.

Having to talk to Midna in order to warp or change into wolf form, as well as the time it takes to transform (thanks to going through menus.)

(WW specific)

Sailing. It needed work. More time should have been spent on land, too.

One annoying thing to me would definately be the heart beeping. Once it starts, I immediately start searching for a heart to end the horrid noise! >.<

Another thing would probably be enemies that gang up on you whenever your trying to get back into your boat, on your horse, ect. They just won't leave you alone when you're trying to get away. Gah! >:(

mandym287
08-29-2009, 01:15 AM
but it is funny in wind waker when the ennimies kill each other. I realized that with darknuts. It wass hilarious!

The miniblins are probably one of the most annoying of enemies because, like you said they come in packs

TVTMaster
08-29-2009, 08:43 AM
Oh, God, Miniblins. Meep! Meep! Ma-meep! Mah! Ma-nah! Mah na mah na! Mep! Meep! Map! Mreep!

gahhhhhhhhh hate is for them

I really enjoyed putting the hurt on the giant ones in PH, though, mainly because they died so easily and didn't come back. BWAHAHA DIE CREEPS

The heart beep is extremely annoying, especially if you can't find a hart. I can remember I had to listen to that beep for over 10 minutes. I cut all the grass in hyrule field just to get rupees and magic jars -.-. The extra thing you get is link acting all tired if you don't move for a second. So annoying.

Another annoying thing is the seahat, especially if they are in a group. They keep throwing me of the boat over and over again.

Last but not least, the fact that you put rupees back in the treasure chest if your wallet is filled in TP. The ironic text: "Oops, your wallet seems to be full, let's put the rupee back in this treasure chest you finally reached after a journey of doom and despair." is just plain evil. If something annoys me, it is that happy music followed by that stupid text and the realisation that all the hard work was for nothing -.-

Yeah the life is low beeping is annoying but tingle is just horrible. He decodes maps for you for an insane 400 rupees a pop and he is a grown man acting like a little kid!! He's insane. Navi annoys me as well what with her utter uselessness and her outbursts like 'this is a ladder. if you walk up to it you will start climbing' but yeah navi annoys everyone so i don't need to bring it up.

Whenever Link finds a variant of rupee everytime you restart the game there's a whole happy screen for it.

Lord this is possibly the worst part of the entire series. I think the programmers just deliberately put that anti-climactic cinematic that makes you think you'll get something important like a heart piece or some other item you've been wanting, but then bam, a 10 piece rupee that you could have gotten an equivalent of by slashing through grass for a total of 30 seconds. Rupees in treasure chests are by far the most annoying thing in Zelda for me.

mandym287
08-30-2009, 06:25 PM
I also couldn't stand in wind waker working so hard for a chest to be accessed or to appear, when it was just a joy pendant.

Waker of winds
08-30-2009, 07:18 PM
I totally hated chests with Joy Pendants. I don't think they are all that important.

Miniblins, heart beep, rupee messages... yeah, I hate that stuff too.

Oooh, I loathe Tingle!!! He was such an annoying character! And still is.
Why did he had to ask for that many rupees to decipher a map just to say
"tingle tingle kooloo limpah become readable"!?>:(

I think the heart beeping is the worst in LoZ and AoL because it actually takes away from some of the music. It's worse in AoL because death is more imminent there than in other Zelda titles as the odds of a magic drop that's enough to refill your magic meter so you can use the Life Spell is worse than a random one-heart drop in LoZ to just get you above the beeping noise.

I don't mind the heart-beeping noise in later titles mainly because it's a calmer noise that blends in better. It also doesn't happen nearly as frequently as the 8-bit titles, and when it does it's way too easy to replenish life and be done with it.

What annoys me the most would probably have to be the beeping sound when your health is low. it would always annoy me when I was playing Late at night. Hey, at least it kept me awake with its annoyingness.

Kitsu
09-26-2009, 01:36 AM
Most annoying is probably the sailing in Phantom Hourglass. I rather enjoyed sailing in the Wind Waker, if felt free and open - even if it could be boring at times.

However, sailing in Phantom Hourglass felt like the antithesis of the Wind Waker, it was constricted, limited, the process itself was irritating (I detested having to open the sea chart, draw a line, then sail there. Why couldn't I just.. sail there? It felt like such a hassle.)

Perhaps almost as annoying, was in Twilight Princess. Where every damn time you get a blue or higher rupee, Link has to present it to you like it's something he's never seen before, and act surprised every time - even if you've found that denomination a hundred times already. This wasted so much time, and just overall annoyed me.

The low-hearts indicator didn't bother me too much.. Except for a few times when I got down to one or two hearts, and had to run across the entire field or something like that just to get it to stop.

Rolling into doors trying to go into them.
I think Link would've died from all those crashes in real life. :P

And also those Mini-blins (whatever their called) in WW.
I hated the fact that they re-spawn endlessly.

I really disliked it when fairies would go through walls and you couldn't get them :(

i also didn't like the beeping sound when low on health... and maybe some other times :(

but overall not much i LOVE the legend of zelda :)

What annoys me? Well, if it ever happens, the beeping when health is low. The most obvious would be Navi. Obnoxious little fairy. -.-; Then I get a little annoyed by the slow cutscenes sometimes when I know what the say and just want to get along with it.

Hmm...the ReDeads also bug me if I accidentally get too close and they decide to scream and make me stop moving, then they won't get off and baaah...

Really, there isn't too much that annoys me, really.

...the water temples, definately. Those annoy me.

Niko Bellic 817

I find Keese and Wall/floor masters the most annoying. Especially floor masters, they grab you and you have to start from the beginning of a certain point in the dungeon. >:( Second is the magic meter. Upgrading that thing is tedius in all Zelda games with the exception of OoT. Plus, you can only use your magic until it runs out and then you have to smash pots. The Earth temple in Wind Waker was a pain, you had to rotate the mirrors to reflect light and everything. Heart beeps yes, but you can always mute the volume.

elliotstriforce
10-09-2009, 06:42 PM
if anything in the Zelda series annoys me that isn't navi it is another fairy, tatl.

my reasoning is :
she won't stop pestering you about the fact that you should know all the monsters.
she acts just like navi.

so if you can find anything more annoying other than navi and midna, have fun.

Oh wow, so many things. First Navi, never liked her. Then the owl, so pointless wish I could just skip him. And last thing is the beeping when you are low on health, this could be worse though... At least the screen does not blink red or something like that.

DesertDweller
10-21-2009, 01:55 AM
The owl, seahats, sailing without the ballad of gales, and whoever happens to be really poor on Windfall Island. Whenever you walk anywhere near him, that crown appears above his head and he has to give you his speech. Ugh...

I actually liked Navi.

Also wish you could have some sort of control over the camera in the older games aside from the L button. (and looking forward by pushing up C stick) I really liked how in WW you could rotate the camera while doing anything. It annoyed whoever was watching me play though. :)

I have several things that annoy me:

redeads

beep beep when health is low

but most of all what really annoys me is when you need to get an item but you can only buy it and your rupee wallet can't hold enough for you to get it.

Just finished Minish Cap, so adding to my answer.

The figurine collection system in MC.

Bah, would of been MUCH better if you used rupees instead of shells, plus I much preferred the WW system than MC's "Spend hours in a small boring room using thousands of shells for varying chances of getting one of the 136 figurines you do need.

It was sad, as the collectionist in me was all "Yay, plot and Zelda style collection in one side quest" but the imaptientist in me was all "This is the most painful, time wasting, boring activity ever......"

They look awesome though.

Not knowing what to do in dungeons that is annoying. And the darknuts in Loz when there are a lot of them. And the oot owl.

Defiantly the most annoying thing in which I have ever had to do in a Zelda game would have to be in OoA when you have to fly across the pits with Moosh. His controls are just so stupid and annoying, and it's just generally a really awful experience. Though it's nice when you do get to the grave and get the flippers and Cheval's Rope. Also in OoA, having to get all of your items back from the Tokay can be pretty annoying, but when you know what to do it's OK.

And I have to say, the beeping is pretty annoying. Keese in AoL can be awful as well. Especially when you are in the last cave of Death Mountain maze and you beat the Red Daria and are jumping for joy and you get touched by a Keese once and you die.. It's so sad..

11-01-2009, 07:47 PM
Ciela annoyed me more than Navi ever did. They took Navi's voice and made her self-righteous about everything. -_-

Also, I hate it when you begin a Zelda game and they explain to you how to open doors, push blocks, and simple things like that. I think any kid would figure out you have to press a button to make it work.

Juxtor
11-01-2009, 08:57 PM
hmm for me, i would have to also agree with the health warnings as well.
The most annoying thing that would happen to me is when i play a zelda game for the first time and there are some puzzles in dungeons that i just stand there going ".........ok" but that gets sorted out quickly so yeah.

I have to go with the sound effect when your hearts are low, it starts to really grate on my nerves. The repeat rupee animation in TP, and while I like the sailing in WW it got old really fast, it need some work to make it less repetitive. I bet there is something else but I can't think of it right now...

Anything that tries to knock me off my boat. And the fact I need to stop sailing to stand any chance to defeat them.

Yeah i didn't like this, it was worse in the eyed reefs. You get bombed out your boat, then as soon as you get back in, you're bombed out again. It's hard if the wind is blowing the other direction too, cause you can't just open the sail :stalfos:

Someone said Tetkites. I'd have to agree with them 100%. I always feel the urge to jump attack them, which either kills them instantly or throws Link back, which is incredibly embarrasing. There's also this crazy timing issue when you're playing as a Goron in MM, if you throw a punch at the wrong time, you miss the Tetkite completely and leave yourself open to attack. Fire/Ice Keese also bother the hell out of me. I've tried several times to get the Dodongo's Cavern without losing my shield. I've always failed.

Know what was annoying? That little enemy in ALttP on Death Mountain that ran around really fast, and if you hit them with your sword, they only temporarily turned into stone. Only real way of killing them was to use Ether or Quake (I can't remember), and even that took a few seconds to do. Gaaah they always hit me.

Kaepora Gaebora, he's the most annoying npc in zelda in zelda, he talks and talks and talks and than, you start pushing the buttun with out see what he said "do you want me to repeat what I just said?" "yes, wait, noooooo" and than you can't stop him.... oh and the rats or snakes I don't know what they are from ALttP, on the dark when you can't see them, they attacks you, thats just not fair!

03-24-2010, 09:19 AM
If the beeping bothers you, why not just mute the game? I found it a helpful reminder to look for hearts, because otherwise I usually don't pay attention to my heart meter.

Anyway, the main thing that annoys me are Keese, especially Fire and Ice Keese. It takes forever to shoot them down, and they come right back after you destroy them! I would add Like-Likes and Wallmasters to this list (because they can eat your shield/tunic and warp you back to the dungeon entrance), but those are more unnerving and worrisome than annoying.

Blue ironknuckles in Adventure of Link. Enough said.

So true.

Agree with several annoyances in this thread, and adding in my own for TP, which I'm replaying right now - those stairs in the central room of the water temple that won't allow you to roll up them. I need to pay attention this play through to see if other stairs in the game are like that and I just notice it in the temple because they're so long, or if the lack of rolling ability is an aberration.

The heart beeping is specially horrible in the 8bit Zelda games.

I don't get why people hate Navi so much =(

It's bad to make a great discovery in the game, and in place of receiving a piece of heart, you receive 500 ruppes... while your wallet is full.

-Any enemy that freezes you.
-Constantly getting knocked down by chilfos' in TP.
-Seahats knocking you out of your boat, especially when trying to salvage something.
-Adult Link's scream in OoT.

I don't see why people are annoyed by characters though, I think it's exaggerating a little.

Navi haters isn't a part of the games, Ember. :P

One thing that really annoys me is Tingle in The Wind Waker. I got annoyed every time he asked me to pay up all those rupees, but at least he put some sort of use to your endless wallet. It just seems that Tingle was the only thing that you could spend rupees on, but still didn't like doing.

Another thing that annoys me is the constant beeping whenever your life is low. It doesn't happen often to me, and if it does I use a potion or something, but early on in the game when you have few hearts and you happen to get low on life it can get really annoying. For the most part you're able to ignore it or completely block it out, but at first it's definitely annoying.

There's only two things that really annoy me that I can think of right now:

-The EXTREMELY slow text in OoT/MM. This is SO annoying, especially when you've beaten the game already and CAN'T SKIP THE CUTSCENES! >_<
-Ice and everything that is or is related to ice. This includes Freezards, Mini Freezards, Chilfos (which I especially find annoying), Snowpeak Ruins, the Ice Cavern... You get the point.

Heart beeping, Rupee screens, Navi, Tatl, and all that jazz don't annoy me whatsoever. Although I have to agree that Tingle is a little annoying.

1. The heart beep. It's sooo annoying. I really hate those beep beep sounds. When I got the beep for almost half an hour and couldn't find a single heart, I went insane and chopped up all the enemies I could find. And finally I ended up with a game over.

2. The Wallmasters in Alttp. Really, Wallmasters in 2D were very annoying and irritating. I enjoyed taking my time standing still to solve puzzles and trying to figure out where to go, etc. And those times were the perfect for Wallmaster to appear and catch me. I couldn't see the tiny little shadows they made and couldn't tell when they were gonna come out either, so most of the times I found myself back at the entrance. I hate them to the point that I gave up on that dungeon (for 10 minutes).

3. The cutscene with the Deku Scrub in Clock Town. I hate to watch the same cutscene for 5-6 times. I've always tried to avoid his flower, but sometimes I accidentally went near it, and triggered that cutscene AGAIN.

-Leaving sad grandmother. I just want to sit with her and hug her all day long. ):
-How unappreciative Tetra is when you save her.
-KING OF THE RED LIONS. I'm sorry, I found him almost as annoying as navi. No joke.
-Sailing for 20 minutes all the way across the map because you can't warp yet.
-Kalle Demos.
-REDEADS. They scare me so bad.
-Puppet Ganon
-Tingle doesn't annoy me. It annoys me that Tingle takes 3240 of my rupees to read my maps.

What, in the Zelda series (besides Navi) annoys you the most?
Me? I’d have say the “beep beep beep” when your life is low.
What about you guys?

I would have to agree with you. That beeping noise can annoy the "place filled with fire and demons" out of you, if you get what I mean.

The King Zora cutscene after you show him the Letter from Ruto. Okay we get it .. he's a big guy and not very mobile, but there's no need for a ten minute cutscene to demonstrate it (I'm exaggerating the length of course, but it sure can feel like it's that long).

Ocarina of Time: Navi I love her too, don't you.

When your trying to finish that side quest and your traveling some where, guess who you can talk to. The Amazing Fairy we know and love as Navi. When Navi wants to say something, she needs to say it. She says "hey" and "listen" to take your sane from you. Plus the same button you push to get in a first person view is also the same button you have to press to make Navi shut up. If your new to the game the hints might help, but if it's so damn obvious why say it. It would be nicer if she'd say something different each time you talk to her. Note: Beeping sound is very close to to Navi's annoying power.

Getting heart pieces in MM. Since there's 52 of them it took my HALF A YEAR to find them all...

If only I thought about looking at a walkthrough then...

Tingle's money hoarding, Navi, the Water Temple (OoT), oh, and the fact that Zelda never can keep herself from being captured, stoned (statued would be a better term...), poisoned, killed (theoretically), or anything that would officially make her a damsel-in-distress. :/

The two things that really annoy me about the Zelda series are when you start to hear beeping because you have only got a heart or so left, after listening to it for even short periods of time I have actually went into nerd rage about the sound rubbing in the fact I am near death, so I end up muting the TV. Maybe if the heart flashed once in a while, then I would be happy, but it has to make that god damn noise. :<

The second point is everytime you restart Twilight Princess, for any rupee that has a value worth more than one, we have to sit through the game telling us what the rupee is worth and what it does...etc. It's like the game thinks you are retarded, as if you were going to forget what colour rupee is worth what...

TWILIGHT PRINCESS: What's annoying to me is the fact that the boss key in the Temple of Time is well-hidden you forget that you need to get it, get to the boss door, remember you don't have it when you try to open the door and then break your TV with a Wii Remote.
