Which is Your Favorite Race?

Okay, this is rather a simple topic. I searched in the little box if it had been already made, but apparently no.
So, I wanna know which is your favorite race in Zelda and you also have to explain why you actually chosed that race. :D

My favorite race would surely be the awesome Dekus. They are so cool and they just look good! In MM, their palace was one of my favorite place in the game and the music was so great! The Deku King was truly a great character as well as the Deku Princess and the Deku Butler.

I also really enjoyed playing as a Deku! In OOT, they were 3 types of Deku: The Business Scrub (the ones who sell things, the Mad Scrub (the oranges one & the only Deku that don't talk at all) and the Deku Scrub (as seen inside the Great Deku Tree, Gohma was actually their queen, I CAN'T believe THAT.)

This is a tribe I would definitely want to see back in a future Zelda.

Hands down, Gerudo is the best race.
I was so disapointed that they didn't put Gerudos in TP. I was interested into how they would've made them look.

I'm torn between a few choices but, I quite like the Twili, The Koroks, The Gerudo, The Rito and the Zora...
But out of all of them, i'll choose the Zora.
They starred in many Zelda Games, and i'm fond of them, for their ability to travel amd live in water.

I'm torn between the

Hylians - I know, they're the "basic" race of Hyrule, but I like the aura of the mystic they carry and the long pointy ears. They're a good all-around race, not particularly strong, but brave, and just a *touch* different from normal humans.

Twili - I really like the Twili because they're rather strange, rather beautiful, mysterious, and I like how they're kind of a "redeemed" race from a tragic history - their world basically started out as a prison colony/banishment, but they made it good.


All of the races, however, have qualities that I admire and love.

I pretty much like all the races or "tribes," but my personal favorite is the Deku.

They're awesome little forest guys that look cool. They also had a neat little kingdom in Majora's Mask, and playing as the Deku was neat.

I would actually like to see more of them in future Zelda game. Seems they ditched them after Majora's Mask, minus their appearances in the Oracles games and Minish Cap. I think that perhaps they tried to combine the idea of the Deku with the idea of the Kokiri to make the Koroks. Maybe. :sweat:

My second favorite would probably be the Rito from Wind Waker.

Len while agree with you that the rito are faster than the gorons don't forget that the gorons can roll around like crazy at really fast speeds. this was proven in majoras mask in where you can roll around crazy fast as a goron.

I like all the races, each are unique and interesting in their own way, but Gorons are easily my favorite. For the reasons you stated above, and plus they can be really cute lol, i love the noises they make when you talk to them in OoT.
Plus one of my favorite favorite characters in the entire series is a Goron, Darunia. Wish they had him in another game...(They had his counterpart in MM but he was kinda dead and only appeared for a short time, from what I remember anyways)

I'm actually quite happy with the Koroks. There's something about, just the way they are, they happiness associated with them, the fact that they're such a little unknown race of creatures, I love them. Most other races I'm okay with I guess, except for the Twili. They just....bug me.

I love Zoras, especially Mikau. They all have nice personalities, can fight and swim incredibly. But as far as the best, I have to say Hylians. Hylians are pretty much the basis of all of Hyrule. Their government has influence over a good deal of the other races. Though most of them act like normal people, they have the potential to do anything. Plus, when an evil Gerudo, or Twili, is threatening to conquer Hyrule, whose always on the scene. Hylians. Just the simple fact that Link and Zelda are Hylians makes me want to vote for them more.

I can't decide between the Zora and the Rito, they are both so cool. They both look cool, Zora's can live in the water and on land, and the Ritos can fly. I still can't see how they are related though.

I'm not sure never, thought really thought of it. So heres my top 10.

Hmm well, Subrosian, Lokomo, and Twili are a definite out because they werent a recurring race(for now). Shiekah are too backgroundish for me, I don't feel enough explanation of them. Rito are a debate with the Zora so I can't choose either one.

My final decision would be the Hylians because they are most recurring races in the game since the player oftens sees one and talks to the Hylian. Goron, Deku and Kokiri are more of "extra service" to the Hylians due to these following reasons:

1. The Deku often help Link out with any supplies that he needs since Link reflects the Deku Nuts back at them. The Deku can be referred to by enemies, but after the first Deku Scrub you beat in The Minish Cap had me thinking that they aren't so bad since they tend to "talk with their mouth full."

2. The Kokiri helped raise Link in Ocarina of Time to become a strong lad. They had a shop full of items that apparently would have been of use to Link only.

3. Gorons can be brutal but usually getting helped by the Hylian, they reveal a softer side and act as if Link is one of them, which helps Link go and supply himself with shops and access to other places like the Dodongo's Cavern in OOT and the Goron Mines in TP.

I choose the Rito. They had a real "good guy" vibe going for them and they always showed up at the right moments.

I was torn between the Rito and the Kokiri. Ended up going for the Rito because the Dragon Roost Island music is awesome. (don't even try to persuade me that that is not a valid reason because it is)

I love the Sheikah race since I'm one of those people who obsesses over dark themes. The Sheikah are mysterious and the Shadow Temple was one of my favorite places in the game (after I got over its initial creepiness). The only reason I didn't choose the Twili was because Zant was the biggest video game disappointment I've ever encountered.

Gotta love the Kokiri as the peacful forest elves. I wish we would get some conlusion for them and what happened to them(adult timeline). They are one of the only counsil races that are completley ignored after one game. Tis a shame....

True confessions: First time I saw a topic title like this, I tried thinking about my favorite race before reading anyone else's answers. My line of thought went like this - "It's got to be the snowboarding race in TP. I wasn't that great at the Epona races in OoT nor at racing Dampe for the heart piece..."

Then I actually read the messages and thought, "Oh."

To answer the real question, I have a soft spot for Link, so I tend to go with Hylian by default. And while the fire dungeons are never my favorite, I like the Gorons' personality.

My favourite definitely has to be the Gerudo. I mean, just because Ganondorf's their king by default, all of them have some degree of training, despite traditionally it not being a "woman's job" to be a warrior-thief. Also, they managed to survive in one of the harshed environments in Hyrule :D
And in MM, they're pirates. And anything that's a pirate automatically gets my vote xD

Other than that, it was a tie between the Hylians and the Rito. To see how far and faded Hylian culture has become since the days of LttP, it makes me kind of sad. But the Rito... they can fly, man. And they're postmen. And they live in a volcano with a dragon. And they snatched Link and Tetra literally from Ganondorf's grasp. Before their Dragon Lord set his hideout on fire. In what way are they not awesome? xD Hence my eventual vote.

I cannot believe that I haven't seen or voted in this yet. Anyway, I will perform a tie breaker by putting Zora ahead of Sheikah.

I like the Zora as much as I do for several reasons. I've always liked anything based on water or ice. The Zoras fit that, and it leads to me liking them even more. They were humanoid fish, and I believe that's pretty cool in itself. It was great being able to transform into a Zora in Majora's Mask, because one of my favorite things to do was to speed through the water and bounce out of the surface. I thought that being a Zora was just pretty great. I also think they have a pretty good design. The humanoid fish thing they have going on is really nice.

The Gerudo, without a doubt.

I don't know whether it's just my liking for Ganondorf that tends to influence me over decisions like these, but I love the Gerudo race as it stands. Their leader is freaking epic, no matter what game he's in, and speaks a lot for the race itself, with his command, his cunning, and his great, great elitism. They seem to be a very distant race, that needs to be explored a lot more in future games.

From what I could actually chose from, the Hylians. They've definitely got the best people, and the second most interesting storyline.

My vote would have to go to the Zora. There's just something beautiful about a race of aquatic people that's hard to describe. They're somehow... sensitive, clever, and helpful. They're the race closest to Nayru, the goddess that I relate most to. I like the idea of swimming in the water alongside them. They're probably the race I've fantasized about being the most.

I'm not sure what it is I like about them, but the way they can swim seems like it allows them to be helpful, have a lot of fun, and do things in the water that no other race can do quite as well.

I am going to omit my previous post in favor of this post. There are many great races (well some are species) in the mystical land of Hyrule. When it boils down to it, there are 5 that really stick out to me and I am here to discuss them in detail. Now without further adieu, let's get on to list.

5.) The Sheikah

I don't know why, but I have always been mystified by the Sheikah. Their races mystery only holds up my interest and their magic and lore still cease to amaze me. Since only a couple Sheikah have appeared, it is hard to determine much about them. Still their almost blood red eyes and their bloodstained history are very intriguing, and I think the only reason they are not higher on the list is because we do not know many things about them. The Sheikah are still very interesting and I hope they appear in Skyward Sword, so we can learn more about this amazing race.

4.) The Deku

This race first appeared in the revolutionary Ocarina of Time, but they were really only a race of merchants and mischief makers until Majora's Mask. In Majora's Mask the Deku got a complete overhaul, sure there were still some that were merchants, but now they got their own Palace, King, and followers. The Deku were very important to Majora's Mask because they had their own region of Termina, and you got to be a Deku! Being a Deku gave you the ability to hop on water, blow bubbles out of your hole of a mouth, and spin in a circle. The Deku Palace theme also fit very well with the species as a whole and I wouldn't mind hearing the theme or seeing the race in Skyward Sword.

3.)The Zora

The Zora are basically fish people. They are very majestic and swim in the water with ease. They always seemed like the most beautiful of all the races on Hyrule, kind of like the elves from Lord of the Rings. They were first introduced in Ocarina of Time and again in Majora's Mask. They were always the most snooty of the races and very proud of themselves which I really did not like about the Zora's. I love their design in the Nintendo 64 games, very sleek and beautiful. I also hope this race makes a triumphant return in Skyward Sword.

2.) The Anouki

What happens when you mix an Eskimo, a Penguin, and a Reindeer? Well you get this odd race. The Anouki are a friendly easy going race that live on the Isle of Frost in Anouki Estates or in the Snow Realm location of Anouki Village depending on what game you play. Their main export is Mega ice and they love to eat "warm, savory, stew". I just love this race they may be not as cool as others, but they sure are a race that would really be fun to be. The Anouki's main rival in Phantom Hourglass are the Yook, large Yeti like creatures but they currently have a peace treaty with them so they don't fight much anymore. Depending on what game you play, they are led by the head Honcho or the village Cheif. One curious trait of the Anouki is that they never lie. I would love to see this race in another Zelda in the future, but for now we can enjoy them in Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.

1.) The Gorons

I love the Gorons, this hearty, down to Earth, rock eating race are simply a joy in Zelda games. They have the ability to curl up into a ball and roll around. They address everybody close to them as brother, and as shown in Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time, they are led by a Patriarch. The Gorons are just an amazing race and I can't really think of what a 3D Zelda game would be without at least one Goron in the mix. I always found the Gorons culture to be the most interesting too, and I can relate them to the Dwarves from Lord of the Rings. They have always been the manufacturer of something, whether it be bridges, bombs, or stone hallways. They are also fantastic miners and their city is inscribed upon the desolate Death Mountain. As you can see I really like these races and I want them to appear in some Zelda games in the future. Well, if you read this far, thanks ^^ and I hope you have a wonderful day!

well, if you didn't understand by my name, then my fav race are the gerudo. i mean, come on, this race rocks! a race that consists only female thief that lives in the desert and once in 100 years a male is born. if that's not cool, i don't know what is. second fav are the zora, third fav are skull kids (if they count.) and fourth fav are the gorons.

Mine is definitley the Kokiri. I love the idea that they never grow up, because who wants to grow up? Its no fun. They just live in the forest with eachother, carefree, and The Great Deku Tree and dont have to worry about the troublesome world of Hyrule and its quabbles.

The Zora and Twili are a close second though. The Zora are just plain cool and have one of the coolest territories in the series; and the Twili because theyre so unique. They made their own society because they were rejected by theirs and thats all they need.

Zora. It was so fun and cool to be a ninja underwater in Majoras Mask, and the Indigo-Gos, one of my favorite(virtual)bands, :D consists of Zora people. Plus, I also like randomly swimming around in Zoras Domain in Twilight Princess.

I choose Sheikah, as they are the most interesting and questionable to me. We know that they were servants of the royal family. And Sheik/Zelda and Impa are the only survivers of the race I don't know why but they just seem, mysterious.

Quite honestly, my favorites would be: Deku Scrub, Zora, Goron, and Sheikah. Why?

Deku Scrub: They're walking talking plants that blow bubbles and hop on water! (And hover with giant flowers) 8D How cute is that? Have a heart for the cute little plant people~! Plus, they had their own kingdom in MM. I certainly think that gave them some background. ^^ The Deku Princess was so adorable! >3< (And she can fit in bottles! XD Then there's Deku Link with his sad looking-yet- adorable cuteness!)

Zora: Fish people... ._. How flipping cool is that!? Who wouldn't want to go under water and go where they please? They can sing, shoot their fins at people like boomerangs, breath underwater (And not too mention dogs love them, probably because of their smell, though XD), play guitar (Let's just say they can play any instrument) And the fact that you can be a Zora on MM only makes them cooler!

Goron: Big, humble, lovable, kind rock people with an appetite for... Rocks. lol They're so nice though <3 and they can roll into balls and if rolling quick enough, have spikes shoot out their backs. That's pretty dang cool! Who needs Epona's hooves of steal when ya' got devastatingly sharp spikes sticking out your back? Not too mention having a rocky back for protection. XD Natural shield.

Sheikah: Must I explain the awesomeness that is the Sheikah? Who doesn't love 'em!? They're just awesome! Nuff said.

I love the Zoras. I'm a big fan of water creatures, and I love all of the zora locations in the game. Not to mention the awesome music that usually comes with the zoras. Also, in MM, it was my favorite mask; I loved the guitar!

I've always liked Gerudos. They aren't usually prominently featured in Zelda games and not a whole lot is known about them. Also, being a tribe of all females except for the one male born every 100 years is quite interesting to me. I would have liked to see them in TP. I haven't played SS yet; are they in that at all does anyone know?

All the races are awesome. I especially like the Shiekahs and :deku: people, but my all time favorite is :zoras:. :zora: are just ridiculously cool looking,sounding, and acting. I LOVE swimming around as a :zora: in MM.

Sheikah and Gerudo. I love how Sheik and Impa are all mysterious...Sheik is one of my favorite characters. I love the music in Gerudo Valley in OoT. I think it's really creative that they made them all women, except for one man that is born every 100 years.

I was going to say Zoras, but I changed my mind and said Sheikahs. They're the most mysterious of all of Hyrule's races. They live in the shadows, rarely ever showing themselves and making their lives private if they choose to live among people. Some Sheikahs are incredibly powerful, others are old and on the verge of dying. I'm very interested in them.

Must say that I love the Zora the most, but I always have something with water-people-thing-races. They make me think of mermaids.
Also like the Kokiri, because of their Peter-Pan-spirit.
The Gerudo for being hot, and the Sheikah for being mysterious.

I like the Rito because they deliver your mail to you and it is at the first mail box that you come to. The are fast and so smart as to where your mail will be.

My favorite are the Zoras, They just look so different and I love how they swim under water. I also really liked the kikwi from Skyward sword. They were like plant/hedgehogs or something and made cute noises :)

My favourite race are the Zoras, mainly because I like Zora Link in MM so much and the portrayal of the Zoras in OoT, especially Princess Ruto. Second to that are the Rito, since I'm fond of bird people as well mainly because of Metroid, my second favourite series after Zelda. Also, with the release of SS, the Mogma really intrigue me, mainly because of their funny mannerisms.
