Okay, so even though I've completed OoT around 11 times (and counting:)), I still have a heart-racing feeling when i come across certain foes.

I'm not talking about the feeling when you get after you beat a boss. And we know how awesome that feels! I'm talking about the average...."things".... that come for you in the temples.

For example, Wallmasters. If you know what they are, super! If not, they are the shadows that hang from the ceiling and grab you whenever you stand still for two long. Just knowing the fact that they exist in the rooms, scares me to death! I don't think i have a fear of any other foes, well that I've already overcome, that is.

So here's my question: What monsters or enemies scare you the most no matter HOW MANY YOU TIMES YOU BEAT IT in OoT. I you have other fears from different games, please feel free to explain.

I don't think to be honest that any enemy does after I know it is there, An example being the Wall Masters that you mentioned, Once I knew that these would be crawling around a few rooms in each Temple they are found in, Once I knew they were there I would wait until it dropped down and kill it.

I do get this with some of the harder boss just as I go to face them but not really that much, The only enemy I don't really like being there and used to scare me over and over were the Redeads, I hated those guys, As I have gotten older though I have realised that they arn't that scary.

It was like with Timesplitters 2 & 3 with the undead levels, I just realised that they were the same as any other enemy with just a scarier look. I am not really that scared of anything in any games any more.

Ha, okay i see. The thing about the redeads, like you said, i was scared to death of those! haha, the way they screamed just made me want to quit playing the game.
And the only thing i hated about trying to kill them, was the fact that if you killed one, they all come after you. And the way they jump on top of you just........eh.

Well the thing about the Wall Masters, I get shaking feeling and i have to run everywhere so they dont get me. I never liked seeing it, so that's why i never tried killing it.

When I first saw it I was like......"WTF is that thing O.o......"

I didn't like the redeads because when they jumped on you it looked like they were dry humping you , Much like a dog.....I hated seeing it so I just avoided them most of the time or whooped out the Biggoron's Sword to kill them asap.

Hahaha! Exactly! I think the first time I saw them, was in the Graveyard, and I always went throught that steamy green poison looking stuff so i wouldnt have to fight them. But the first time I went near them, it was my first time playing, it jumped on me and i freaked out and I didn't know that I needed to try and get it off by pressing A or B, so i died....

KEEP POSTING PEOPLE!
I still need to hear what scares you the most!

OoT doesn't scare me or even freak me out or anything. Simple reason, this game doesn't give me the 'Zelda feel.' On the other hand, MM is just so intimidating. I still don't think anything scares me. Maybe that weird bird in Hyrule field that steals your items, just because I can't kill it yet. The whole feel of MM though is rather daunting. You feel under pressure throughout the whole game and you feel desperate. This, and the part of TP with the dying Midna are the only time where I feel I cant stop playing, not on the third day. I HAVE to save everyone, peoples lives are at risk and I have to save them.

It's not really fright as it is... (how can I put this) disturbance, pity, and surprise.

The Redeads are something that I don't like because how I pity them. They're the undead, but somehow I can tell that they have emotions. It's because when I kill one Redead, I see another Redead bending down to it until it disappears, this seems like mourning to me and that saddnes me that somewhere in those husks is a living creature. They frighten me with that scream and sometimes I can't bear to kill them other than to remove their misery. Bah maybe I'm just overreacting, oh well.

That's how I felt at first when I was running through Hyrule Castle Town after the 7 year gap. After meeting them a couple of times, though, they became more annoying than profound. When you stop and think, it's pretty sad, but more often than not I'm just zooming through there.

Now wallmasters... those consistently freak me out. The prospect of getting kicked back to the beginning of the dungeon is not one I like to face.

Oka first of all, you are amazing for creating this thread because I feel the same way as you do. I get all scared of some of the enemies and I dont get scared easily in real life. Second, I hate redeads. Im not scared of them, they just look sooo weird. I am such a wimp when I walk past them. It takes me like 2 minutes to decide when to run past them! The other thing I hate with a passion, dead hand. I pretty much crapped my pants when I saw it. It looked like a weird blob of mashed potatos that was trying to get me. So,yeah. Those two are pretty much the killers for me. I actually like wall masters. What I dont like is Navi trying to make me scared with the warning she gives to me, telling me they are there. She says it soo spooky.

ok, a rewritte is needed here...so... here i go, games does not give me fears... they are just...videogames and one should not be afraid of something unreal or something that would never happend, i used to fear re-deads when i was 8, now, i have realized that there,s nothing to be scared off: they are just....Videogames and nothing scary to fear about

Well yea people die. But tell me, do you want to live your afterlife like them? They must be suffering quite a bit when you look at them. If there's an afterlife then I want to rest in peace, not be a rotting husk stuck in life.

Floormasters. (Wait too long with killing the three tiny ones they separate into and they reform. Wait too long to shield and you get grabbed. If one of the tiny ones grabs you, you get a big one.)

Are the Redeads the living dead? I don't think they are. I think they're always like that, because in OoT, all the residents of Hyrule Castle Town escaped to Kakariko Village - they weren't turned into Redeads.

And speaking of Redeads...*squeals and hides* I have ALWAYS been freaked out by them. The moaning, knowing they're near, and then the shrill scream that freezes you in your tracks...*shudder*. And then when you kill them, their corpse stays there, and even though I know they won't get back up, I still wait for them to disappear. Even so, the Redeads in OoT still aren't as scary as the ones in the sequels. It's funny when they dance in MM, as well. Stalchildren terrify me as well. After finding out about them, I avoided going out to Hyrule Field at night as a child whenever I could, and if I didn't have a choice, I'd stay in the river till dawn.

They still don't compare to Dead Hand, though. I was definitely not expecting a grotesque, mutilated blob of bloody pale flesh wriggling towards me as I was clenched in an equally bloody and pale hand...and its eyes are empty sockets and its mouth opens really wide (for some reason, I find big mouths absolutely horrifying). And when it dies, it twitches. D:

As for MM, I haven't really played it too much, but I was so happy when I found out you could skip the mask transformations. I couldn't stand watching Link go through so much pain. The game itself is also incredibly unnerving, because throughout the whole game, you feel like Termina is in denial (well, it is, really), and that there's a constant undercurrent of fear and uncertainty. And, of course, the moon.

Wow, deja vu! I just played yesterday, and I was at the bottom of the well, and I came across a Dead Hand! It's not the fact that it scared me, it was just pretty gross looking, and yeah, the twitching part just made it even more weird...

readeads from windwaker and oot and gibdos from oot and mm. Because of two reasons. #1. they look ultra creepy (yes the cell shaded redeads are the scariest in my scroll) and two they have blood curdling screams. i always dread the shadow temple and the well when playing oot.

Those zombies in Hyrule when you're an adult; redeads I think they're called

they scared the **** out of me when I first played the game as a child, I was probably 9-10 years old, now they're just annoying to me at this time now that I'm much older :)

Redeads. I never liked them. The weirdest thing about them is that when you kill one, all the others flock over to its body, regardless of where you are, as though they're going to eat it or something. Needless to say, I never stuck around Hyrule Market in the adult years long.

Redeads scared me when I was 5... I played my brother's file (It was 100% completed, hearts, golden skulltula's and everything... Hack much? :P) and I got caught by the redeads. I dropped the controller and started screaming. I was afraid to go back into the room so I just left the game on while the redeads were killing me!

Something else that is funny is that I could never fight a boss when I was 5... I had to ask my brother to kill it. I even asked my brother "How did you get more hearts? How did you get that green bar?" and everything else... But he never told me. He basically gave up helping me.

So I got up to Jabu Jabu's belly and was stuck there for months. No one would help me. So basically, my brother lent the game to his friends, they lost it and I never played Zelda on N64 again. (I was about 7 or 8 when he gave it away)

So now I play OoT on an emulator. :( :P

That was kinda harsh, your brother not helping you. You probably didn't know about GameFAQs back then, either.

Your story reminded me of the way I played Zelda when I was that age. I was scared of every enemy. Not just ReDeads, Gibdos or even the dreaded Dead Hand -- everything. When the enemy encounter music started up, I jumped and tried to sprint away as fast as I could. I also didn't enter any dungeons because I knew there would be a ton of enemies and no easy way out. I'm not sure why I was so afraid of them, although it may have been because I didn't want poor Link to get hurt (which I still don't like when it happens).

At the Dampé race in OoT, I'm always afraid of going the wrong way and encountering a Redead:O.

I'm always scared in the Night of the 3rd Day in MM.

Also, At Hyrule Market's Redead frenzy. I don't mute the TV anymore, but I'm always scared of all those screamsD:.

Okay, this is reall silly and pathetic, but when I was a kid (keep that in mind) I was afraid to enter the caves in ALTTP because the music scared me.

I was also afraid of Helmasaur King and saved battling him often until I beat Arrghus at least.
And I was afraid of getting ANYWHERE where I could hear ReDead in OOT and TWW.

Nothing scares me in OoT or MM, what with my humorous persona, I face them, thinking about how strange they really are if you look at the long enough. A good way around wallmasters is to hold Z and sideskip or backflip, or to get on a ladder. Redeads have never frightened me whatsoever, oddly enough. Though there is plenty a reason to fear them, I just... don't. I don't even hate it when they grab onto me, because I know that, after some button mashing, they will get off and I have a chance to pwn that undead skin.

Depends on how into the gaming session I've gotten.

Redeads startle me when they catch me off guard. Paralysis and a scream.. it's like a bad dream where you're running in slow motion. I guess it's mostly a heart racing feeling as opposed to outright terror. I get a similar feeling after being whapped by an ironknuckle.

And of course there's MM's aliens. In some ways, they're worse than the redeads. Hehe..

Ocarina of time... well not really. Maybe because I didn't play it the year it was released, so with "that kind of graphics" I wasn't scared by anything...

But...

Majora's Mask is weird, it's that kind of fear that follows you when you go to bed. That's when you wonder about it, and that's when it's really creepy. Silent Hill is the best example of this.

Redeads. 'Nuff said. :P

Seriously though. Did Nintendo have any idea how many kids they would traumatize by designing a moaning Zombie that would hump you if you got too close? They are the main reasons why I dead going into the Well and the Shadow Temple. I hear that moaning and I break out into a cold sweat and want to turn the game off. Also, Dead Hand anyone? Wasn't that pretty scary, too? o.o

I'm always scared of getting my stuff eaten so I shoot any Like Likes I see full of arrows before it can touch me. The boss in the well freaked me out too. I wanted to kill it with fire but I had none >:

I dont like to fight the Floormasters (those hands that become three smaller hands). I remember that when I saw that i had to fight one in the Shadow Temple (I was just a small kid...) I got out of the room and didnt want to enter it again. It took me much time before I had courage enough to fight it. Although I killed it easily with Din's Fire (so I didnt even have to use the Lens of Truth), I will never forget what i thought (my hands froze :)).
When I had to kill a Floormaster in the Forest Temple, I used the Hookshot, because there was a small step and as long as I stayed in the higher place, the small hands couldnt grab me, so I killed it easily. In the Spirit Temple, I just got out of the big hand's way and it fell down the wall i had just climbed, so I didnt have to kill it! But in the Shadow Temple it scared me a lot.

When I was little, I used to go on my brother's room and start playing Ocarina of Time (first game, I was like what? 4?) and I was scared of Ganondorf. He was running all around and knocking blocks down, I was screaming and crying and my brother is like "It's nothing to be scared of." But I was scarred fo like life then when I was 7 I didn't care and I got obsessed with Zelda, mainly it was because I beat Wind Waker before my parents and brother. XD

I guess you say redeads creeped me out at first. I would just play the sun's song to avoid them in castle town. My brother, whos 5 years younger than me used to be TERRIFIED of them. He would even have nightmares about them appearing randomly in public places (like in that MGMT "Kids" music video).

I guess other things that creeped me out were the Dead Hand and the father-turned-gibdo in MM.

The only enemy that scared me in OoT would be ReDeads. I even wrote a letter to HTLOZ about it when I was 12, asking how to get over my fear of ReDeads, which they answered in their mailbag with "...I need a vacation..."

What's funny is, I wasn't scared of any other undead enemies like Gibdos or Poes, just ReDeads. It was that creepy look they had. My little brother is playing through the game, and he's most afraid of the Skulltulas, Gohma, Wallmasters, and Tektites (all spider enemies)! He's also afraid of Stalchildren, but not Stalfos. Yet the ReDeads don't scare him.

I'm not scared of ReDeads now that I've played MM and seen them dance.

Maybe the redeads dance because they were used as slaves or entertainers in their previous life?

I hate when Wallmasters land at me (I've managed to get trapped in a corner once or twice) but I'm not afraid of them. The bottom of the well did cause me to legitimately jump in shock/fright once. I ran into a bubble and it knocked me into one of the invisible walls, and suddenly I was in one of those small rooms with all those spooky faces. And of course I had to be facing a wall so it was all I could see. Yeah, that didn't help the heart rate.

The only enemy I'm still scared of is Zant's Hand. I have no clue why, but that fear has prevented me from finishing TP yet.

Redeads get my heart racing, but out of a different sort of panic other than fear. It's more of that bad memory I have of the first time one of them attacked me. I panicked so much I forgot to be afraid.

As for things like Wallmasters, I got legitimately scared twice by them. First was the Bottom of the Well, in the center room. I was staring at the big X, failed to notice the shadow growing beneath me since the camera didn't show my feet and failed to hear the noise since I was talking to my brother. Next thing I knew, grabbed. I screamed. The second time was in Ganon's Castle, in the Light barrier hallway in that fake room that has an invisible entrance to the real room. I think there's a Wallmaster there since I stood there for a really long time before figuring out that I needed my Lens of Truth. I distinctly remember something black falling down on where I was standing just seconds after I started moving forward. I was too shocked to turn around and check if it was an actual Wallmaster. So yeah, they only scare me if they genuinely catch me by surprise.
