What are you afraid of?
I'm afraid of heights.
One time my Dad took me to Water World, and we had to climb all these stares to get to the water slide
And I looked down, but anyway I went down the slide, later my Dad asked me if I wanted to do it again, and I told him no way.
So heights are what scare me.

Well, I am afraid of two things sometimes.
I'm afraid I've water and heights. I'll talk about water first.
I am not really afraid of water, but I am slightly scared of deep water, since I've almost drowned many times, and my short height doesn't help me stay above the water. Other than that, I love splashing around in the water with my friends, but I get a little serious when somebody pretends/tries to dunk me or push me into deep or unsafe water, which really annoys people most of the time. But, if there were to say be a girl I really like, or somebody I wouldn't want to see me scared, I'd act natural and try not be scared. :P
Onto the next one, I am slightly afraid of heights. This is because I'm timid, and afraid I might fall, or, if I'm standing on a high building with people I barely know or silly people. I usually have a fear of them being stupid and trying (or again, pretending to) push me. When I went on a school camp once, I had to do seiling (can't really remember what it's specific/real name was), where I had to use a rope and climb down an extremely high building. I was actually scared at first, but all the ropes and extra security kept me going and it turned out to be quite easy and fast. Again, like with water, if a person I wouldn't want to see me scared, I'd act brave and whatnot. :P
Well, I guess that concludes my long "speech". But as I get older, my fear of these things are getting better and better. In the long run though, I'm not extremely scared of either of these things, but I couldn't really think of anything that I am extremely scared of. ^^

I do have three minor phobias, but, they are for certain events. They would be Acrophobia, Claustrophobia, and Climacophobia. They don't happen often, but, when they do, I do get a bit paniked. Well, I'll describe them and their events.
My acrophobia is a minor case, in which I do have a fear of looking over balconies (I think there is a name for it, but, I am not sure about what it is). I tend to stay a distance from railings of balconies. I can stand on a balcony, but not near the railing. No, I do not have a phobia of railings.
My Claustrophobia is also a minor case. I don't mind for the sides of the walls, but, I care more about the ceiling of the environment. I wouldn't be afraid of a minivan, but, if you place me into a cardboard box, I would be a bit afraid. It started when me and my sister were playing a really long time ago (I was 4, maybe), and I got rolled up in the bed's comforter. I had no way of getting out, thus, creating claustrophobia.
My final one would be Climacophobia. For those who don't know what it is, it is the fear of climbing stairs. However, this is linked to my acrophobia. If it is a staircase consisting of multiple flights or a short 2-3 story flight, then, I'm good. If it is a tall, straight staircase, that gets me going...
So, those are my list of fears. I wish you don't use them against me (You can only use them if you're standing right next to me). The strange thing is that my Climacophobia just set in about 3 years ago. Is it common to randomly develop phobias out of the blue?

I have Apiaphobia, the fear of bees. I hate them, and I freak out whenever I see one.
Second, I have a fear of bears, but I don't know the name of the phobia.
Third, (and the most common amongst people) is the fear of public speaking.

I have a couple of fears. First of all, I suppose I have a slight fear of heights, or depths if you want to get technical. But only once I reach a certain point. I'm fine if I'm climbing a tree, and I'm, say, 50 feet off the ground. But too much beyond that, or on a tree with sparse branches, I'm a bit uncomfortable.
Another is deep water. No, it's not that I can't swim. I'm perfectly ok with swimming, and I consider myself okay at it. It's that I don't know what's underneath me in deep water. I know it's silly, but even in my 10 feet-deep pond, I get a little freaked out.
Third, (and the most common amongst people) is the fear of public speaking.
Last is, of course, that. I've never really had to speak in front of lots of people before, but at gatherings and such, sometimes I'll be asked to say something in front of everyone. I just hate that.

I'm sure I have more than I can think of, but my number one fear is spiders.
I never used to be afraid of them. I was often the one called upon to remove them when people in my house found them. Unfortunately, one day I was cleaning out my basement cupboard, and one dropped out of the ceiling of it and landed on my face. It scurried around looking for an exit, and I was swatting at my face trying to get it off. I did, and calmed down and went back to cleaning the cupboard. I was a bit nerve-wracked then, but still okay.
Then, not even 5 minutes later, another spider jumped down and landed on my face. Well, that was it. I went into hysterics and was clawing at my face to get it off. I did, and I abandoned the cupboard job for that day, and this was the beginning of it.
A few short weeks later, I went to get a straw to put into a drink and right before I took a sip, I noticed something dark in the middle of the straw. I looked closer, and it was a spider. I was just about ill.
Not too long after that -- (last story, I swear!) I was going to blow my nose after sneezing, and as I brought the tissue to my face, there was a spider in it.
So, with all of this happening within the space of a month or so, I am now deathly afraid of spiders. My heart rate goes up when seeing them, and I have a shot of fear race through me. It takes me many minutes to get up the nerve to take them out with a tissue. Even then, I will get someone else to deal with it if I can, or trap it until someone can deal with it. I can handle onse that are the size of a pencil eraser or smaller, and one specific type I'm okay-ish with, but all others must die horrible deaths "at sea" in the toilet.
So, you can see how the increased size of the skultullas in TP, along with Armogohma freaked me out to no end! :)
Wide open spaces really freak me out, honestly. I wouldn't say I haave a fear of it, but I get really uncomfortable. That said, I also get really freaked out when I'm being surrounded by lots of things (usually man-made things. Things in nature don't usually bother me in this regard).
Similarly (or maybe the same :P), I have a huge fear of large cities. If it has more than 150,000 people, I tend to get really freaked out. I was 17 and in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I started to cry. :P . I think I may somewhat be getting over this fear, but I'm not sure. Where I go to school is about 100,000, so I don't really get much exposure to large places (though it's much larger than where I am now at probably less than 20,000).
Driving on the highway during winter is a REALLY big fear of mine. I always had a fear of it, but after a girl I went to school with was killed in December, it shot through the roof. People are always speeding, which scares me enough, but with the ice on the road, it gets a bit much for me. Luckily, I'm not the one who has to drive. :P
There are definately other fears I have, but I wont' get into them.

I have three main fears. I try to make this story as short as possible :P
First of all i'm very afraid of bees, wasps and other buzzing, stinging, flying insects. I never liked bees, but since I was chased by an angry wasp because I tried to swat it away (the wasp followed me for several metres) I freak out when I hear or see a wasp/bee.
I'm also afraid of horses. I don't know why I have this fear, but I guess it's because I don't trust a horse. I don't want to stand close to a horse or touch it. The strange thing is I don't have a fear for donkeys :xd:
My weirdest phobia is the fear for balloons. When I was young I tried to sit on a balloon and of course it popped. Since then I'm scared of balloons. Just the idea that the balloon can pop next to my ears freaks me out. When I went on vacation with friends, it was someones birthday so the whole bungalow was filled with balloons for a week. I was constantly checking were all the balloons were and I tried to avoid them. So no balloons for me when there is a party :P

Well, I'm afraid of heights. I can stand heights if there is a rail, but sometimes, that doesn't work.
I am also scared of bugs.
Which means I freak out every time ants invade my house.
What? Ants aren't that scary? W-What are you saying?
S-Shut up!
Oh, I am also scared of spiders. A lot.
Y2K3, I shuddered when I read your post.

Hmmm...This is an actual thread where I had to think for a second...
I guess I am afraid of bugs, but only when they are inside, not when they are outside. I hate a spider on my wall. It just bugs me. And ever since "Drag Me To Hell" came out, I always think it is going to crawl up my nose....
As for any other fears...I guess I would have to say stray big dogs. Probably started when a big dog attacked my mom and my dog Milo. Ever since then, if i see a big dog, you will see me walk in the opposite direction.
i think that is about it. Interesting thread.

ZOMBIES
I love zombies. LOVE them. I'm very into anything with zombies. Unfortunately, they're probably the thing I fear most. When I was younger, Nemesis from Resident Evil 3 used to stalk me in my dreams. If I see zombies on tv or in a game, I have nightmares. I'm afraid of being alone at night for fear that zombies will attack me. And, of course, I'm afraid that I'll be attacked by them if I venture into a graveyard.
WATER
When I was about 2, I was thrown into a pool. When I was around ages 10-12, I was almost drowned by someone. I've had traumatic incidents with water, so I'm very scared of it. I don't do baths- I have to shower instead, so I don't get to do those girly bath rituals. I won't go into pools, either, nor will I go near a beach. Not being able to swim only makes it worse.
That's about it. I'm not afraid of bugs or animals or or heights or stuff like that.

I find it a little difficult to think of something I'm afraid of. (I mean, heights are amazing! Come on!) However, I thought about it for a while and I think I've figured out what my greatest fear is.
My greatest fear is stupidity. I can't bear when people and things are stupid. I realize that, all the time, I'm trying to avoid stupidity. If I get my mind filled with all these stupid things I've been seeing, my mind goes into a - murky - state. It makes me feel so inferior and dark, I suppose. I'm not sure these are the absolute best words to describe it. >_< It's easy to tell when someone typing on the internet is stupid. It makes everything they write unbearable to read.
I suppose my fear of stupidity is generated by how much I like to think. Teachers always have that infamous line, "You're actually going to have to think for this!" Is that really such a bad thing? On another note, since I started playing the Fire Emblem series, I've spent a LOT of time thinking about the story of each game and the continuity of the series, which isn't something many people are brave enough to consider in Fire Emblem.

There is plenty that I fear, and I do not think there is not a reason for why I have such fears - since generally fears are influenced in some way.
I'm afraid of needles, simply because when I was younger - I had to get over 20 shots in my back, at the same time at my asthma & allergy doctor. I'm also afraid of ignorance, because I've encountered plenty of people within my family who skipped out on their education and are unsuccessful in life. I fear ignorance due to my desire to influence humanity in some form which is productive for the species.
Infertility is another one of my fears, since it is hereditary. My grandmother, mother, and 2/4 of my siblings have been been diagnosed with a blood condition which gives them a higher risk of miscarriage. I find it understandable to fear this, because of how common it is within my family. I'd love to have a family of my own someday and raise a child.

I"m afraid of heights and things with rabies. I just don't like the fact when I"m really high up, it gives me the feeling that I"m going to fall. I don't know about rabies, just an un-explainable thing.

My biggest fear is.......water.
I don't freak out whenever I see a glass of water or anything, but I'm absolutely terrified of being in the middle of a body of water. I can't go on a cruise in the ocean, and I can't go sailing around a lake because I fear large bodies of water like that. But, for those of you who might not know, I'm also a very accomplished swimmer. I practice daily at the local college pool, and I try my best to improve at it. This helps me "get over" the fear of water I have somewhat. And I hope someday I'll muster up enough courage to swim in a lake instead of just a 25yd pool. :P

MK - my money's on the cuccoo.
Hmm.
Rejection, though I face it a lot. I just really really hate it. Keeps me from buckling down to look for work as ardently as I should, I guess - I've come to expect rejection. I put queries for my novels out to publishers and literary agents *expecting* rejection because it's all I've gotten, in hopes that "maybe this time, my proposal will not be rejected." In the long run, religiously, I'm afraid of being rejected by God - despite all the promises in the Bible for those who believe and stuff. (Sorry for those who aren't religious, this is talking about me here. You could also say that I'm afraid the Athiests really are right and that there's just nothing - that is a form of rejection to me, as well). I want my life to have meant something and I want to *see* it.
Alright, esoteric fear out of the way, now to the mundane:
Ice. I don't fear ice in and of itself, I just fear walking on it. I *hate, hate, HATE* the sensation of falling. Hate it! I grew up in a desert, where ice didn't form all over the ground and sidewalks in the winter. Transplanted to a temperate/seasoned climate, you can see where I didn't learn how to walk on the stuff. Slipping and sliding is extremely frightening to me. If I must cross a patch of ice, I will cling to the nearest object or person for DEAR LIFE and make animal whimpering noises. If I'm clinging to a person, I might try demanding that they carry me. So far, it hasn't worked.
Other than that, the "normal" fears I don't have as much. I won't ride roller coasters for that "I hate the sensation of falling" thing I have, but I like getting up on high places, climbing mountains and seeing the view. I think spiders are cute. (I blame my mother reading me Charlotte's Web as a kid, also a grandfather who had a pet tarantula). I've killed scorpions with broom handles - sometimes to the "rescue" of frightened people... I've handled snakes (not in a religious way at all, more like in a bratty little kid way: "Ooh! A garter snake! I'm gonna go scare my mom!" ) Shaking my head a little at Smitie... I love and have ridden horses. Fallen off 'em, too. To Zeruda... Zombies might be my friends! I paint animal skulls I find and work with animal remains that are all desicated and gross and find it rather facinating...
Weird, I am.

Water. The dark. And heights. I can't swim and I don't know if I'll ever learn! And I've always been afraid of the dark. I sleep with a nightlight on, for some reason I just can't fall asleep if its too dark.
And heights just scare me. The idea of falling from a high place just makes my heart race.

I have a fear of sharks, and I greatly dislike snakes.
Does anyone have uraphobia (I think that's how it's spelled)? If you don't know what it is, look it up. ;)
I am deathly afraid of whales. Blue wales, killer whales, Humpback whales... all of them. They are absolutely terrifying. Imagine swimming in the middle of the ocean and having one of those gigantic things swim next to you! *shudders* Definitely nightmare-inducing.
At the same time, they are a major part of the ocean's ecosystem so I love them for that. I just don't want to be anywhere near them!

Heights scare me for if you are high up with no support, you fall then you are certainly doomed.
Does anyone have uraphobia (I think that's how it's spelled)? If you don't know what it is, look it up. ;) ahaha I think I might have this.
I actually do have another fear. I have a fear of heights, but at the same time, I do not. I thin kit's more of a fear of falling from high places. I love looking out of a plane. I love looking down over cliffs. This is why I don't think it's the height I'm afraid of.
But falling... That's not so much fun.

I'm afraid of needles, simply because when I was younger - I had to get over 20 shots in my back, at the same time at my asthma & allergy doctor.
They always do those allergy tests on my lower arms. About sixteen shots, but I don't really mind it. Needles are my least concern. Most of the time there's little to no pain (well, the reaction from the allergy test is less fun), and I know they'll help in the long run.
What I'm most afraid of though, are clowns! Yes, I've always feared them, ever since I was little. Why would a man in a suit try to entertain childeren? I just can't grasp the concept. That, and one of them scared the hell out of me when I was little. Needless to say I don't like the circus either. :P
I'm also afraid of heights, but that's something I'm trying to get rid of. Because I don't actually know WHY I'm afraid of it. I simply can't think of any good reason. I've visited the top of the Eiffel Tower, I've walked over very bridges in Austria. And yet, every time I get this weird feeling in my ankles. I don't want it, and I want to get rid of it.
Of course public speaking has always been a pain to me. I'm not really all that extravert when it comes to doing something in public. Almost immediately 'doom thoughts' start to form when I have to do any sort of presenting. I once failed a really important exam because of it. So yeah, unfortunately I do have a bunch of fears. But that's what makes us human, right? :P

Entomophobia- Fear of insects.

I have to be honest in the fact Im not afraid of much. I love heights, and I dont have any real phobias (i think thats how its spelled) but when I was a kid I was greatly afraid of bridges just because "what if" it broke. I have gotten over that fear, and another thing I was afraid of when I was younger was basements. I don't know why they just used to creep me out. Im surprised lots of people had not said natural disasters because I know lots of people who are scared (large storms, hurricanes, tornadoes etc.) Tornadoes can be scary but are amazingly interesting, as are most natural disasters/storms.

I am afraid of spiders. I don't know why. I don't think there was ever a reason, I just am. I also don't like silver fish. *shudder* Most all them other bugs I can handle, but those 2 just creep me out the most.
I do have a fear of heights, but it's not severe. I can climb trees and what not, but I just don't feel right when there is no safety bar (like on a roof of a house. My legs get wobbly and I feel scared) or something to hold onto. Also, I don't like that vertigo feeling... I get that feeling when I'm somewhere high and I look up at the sky. Sometimes I feel like I'm falling, or I lose my balance.
I also fear for my health, as most people do. On my dad's side of the family there is all sorts of health problems, and I sure don't want to get any of those.
Tornadoes. I live in Minnesota in the United States, and a lot of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms roll through here in the summer. I only start to get afraid when the sirens go off (You know, the town emergency sirens). And that only happens when a funnel cloud is spotted in the area. I had a specifically traumatic experince when I was five years old. The sirens when off in the afternoon, and my family and I retreated to the basement with some of our belongings. My parents always told me, "As long as we are not afraid, you don't have to be." Well, guess what? It was obvious my parents were getting nervous. We had the weather channel on in the TV in the basement, and my brother and I were forced to sit in a corner, just in case something happened. My parents were taking turns running upstairs to get photo albums and food and stuff. We ended up sleeping in the basement that night.
Leeches. When I was little (like, 8 yrs old), I was swimming in a lake, and I look down and there's a long black thing stuck to my leg. Then my mom comes running out with a bottle of salt and throws some on the leech. I watched it writhe and squiggle and ahhhh... it felt so wierd and it was so.. scary. I am afraid of swimming in lakes now because of that experience.
Fast rides, like at amusement parks (rollercoasters and whatnot). Blame my dad for this fear. He took me on a ride at an amusement park when I was like... 5 years old. It went fast and had 2 huge drops. I was crying and screaming the whole way XD
Oh.. and this next one is silly... but I'm afraid of the technical theater director at my school. Seriously... this guy is scary. He's gotta be at least 300 pounds, and he's always yelling at people and barking out orders and always talking smart. I've had nightmares involving this guy. Everytime I see him at school I turn the other way.D:

I used to be horribly afraid of heights, bugs, and the dark. I've since chilled on all that.
I'm still a bit afraid of heights, but I'm only a little nervous with bugs and the dark.
I'd say I'm most afraid of bad crap happening to people I care about, and to the world in general. I also sometimes find myself afraid of dying alone and never falling in love, but I usually manage to shake the "serious fears." Most of the time.

I'm afraid of losing someone who is close to me. Death is scary to me.
I am also very afraid of bugs, especially spiders and scorpions. I used to live in Florida, and Fl had both. Large spiders, scorpions, and big cockroaches. I shiver just thinking about them! The spiders in TP are so real-looking that i always 'eeek' when i see them!

I am afraid of going blind.
My eyes aren't that good as it is and some doctors say that perhaps with time, they will get worse; eventually I might go blind. If that was ever to happen, all jokes and other bs to the side, I wouldn't hesitate to end my life.
Too much revolves around my ability to see for me to live without it.

Me too! I have some old ones up in my closet and when I have to get something they just stare at me. I'm also afraid of and "game" or video that has a face pop out at you. One good one would be The Maze Game. That is hy whenever I am on youtube I always look at the rating. If the rating is low I look at the length of the video and if it is short I look at the comments. Had a few encounters where a face could pop out at me.

Im not completely sure what i am afraid of. You see i kinda find it hard to get in touch with some of my feelings and why i feel them. For instance I might have this one teacher and for some reason i instantly dislike them, and i cant figure out why.
Anyway, Ill try to see what i can come up with but im going to have to tink a little bit......................................ok i think i got it.
Most of my fears are basically regular fears that any person would have depending on the situation. If I were standing next to ,say, the Grand Canyon then of course i would be a little afraid of falling over. Or if i just saw a scary movie and im walking down the street im scared of Jason running up out of nowhere and chasing me. Or if im swimming in the middle of a lake ten i would be a teensy bit afraid of Jason springing out the water and sticking a knife in my head. Yeah , i know, curse my overactive imagination.
I dont exactly have any normal fears though, except for my fear of rollercoasters, which i am trying to get over.
I guess i can relate to Caleb and Zeruda, because I am kinda fearful of looking stupid in front of people and im scared of zombies in a sense. You know whenever theres a zombie movie that theres usually one person or a small group of people who are not infected yet so they must hide/ hold down the fort and they are all alone and are in a constant run for their lives. Yeah, i would hate to be one of those guys. Its not really the zombie thing but its the run for your lives. Your constant hiding and running and if you screw up, even a little bit, your dead. The adrenalie rush, your heart going a hundred miles an hour, your stomach doing backflips, uh i hate it.

I have the generic fear of hights, but this is not so much me being up in a high place, but rather other people being near edges (like on top of a staircase), where I feel a compulsion to pull them away before they fall.
I also have an irrational hatred of Crane Flies ("Daddy long legs" as they're more commonly known), and I tend to kill them whenever I see one, but I don't mind other flying insects.

I'm Extremely terrified of Spiders, when I was around 5 and below I was completely OK with them but my phobia started when I was 8 and I was looking for a Barbie (XD) in my toy box I got bitten by a venenous (non lethal) spider, when I took out my hand there was the spider still atached to it *twich* and I was taken to the doctor with my hand as big as a soccer ball :/ the pain was excrutiating.
Another one of my fears is Water, Everything started when I was 3 and I was invited to my best friend's birthday and it was a pool party so I went to the pool to the deep side and I looked a bunch of people swiming there so I tought it was the shallow side so then without thinking I just jumped in and I started drowning until my mom came running and saved me. Don't even want to a NEAR a pool anymore :/
That's it :/ I'm also a little afraid of the dark but it doesn't desserve a story lol XD

I'm terrified of heights to sometimes
I'm affraid of just having utterly no control of my actions, and tumbling over the edge, Once on a school trip, we went to this place (can't remember what it was called) and we had to abseil of the side of this huge stone outcrop.
I desperatley attempted to do it, I could hear my rational mind saying "Don't worry! you'll be fine!" while my imagination was saying "OMG you're totally gonna fall and die!!!" I decided to do it, but then, one of the ropes which was holding me, losened a little and i felt myself falling backwards! I couldnt grab anything, so i was utterly terrified! I let my fear get the better of me...and i got off...i've regretted letting it win over me... It's not the height itself that scares me, it's the thought of falling off, mainly if i can't see where i'm falling to (like if i'm standing backwards), i always try to be brave, but sometimes it's hard.
A couple of months later, my school returned to the place for the day, and I completed the abseil! i felt so proud that i had finally conquered my fear!
I also have a fear of rollercoasters, not the height, but the thought of falling out, cause i'm not strapped in properly! Recently, My school went on a trip to a theme park (for the end of the year) and i tried to go on the rollercoaster.
as the man strapped us in, i felt increasingly anxious, then, it started. I finished the ride, and realised that it wasn't that scary! But..i still refused to go on the huge ones with my friends.
I'm terrified of losing my sight, hearing, or mobility, I'm generally healthy, with good sight and hearing, but i'm terrified to lose them.
Other than these, i 'm not afraid of bugs or scary movies, but my imagination can blow things ot of proportion (stupid over active imagination!).
Thats the end of my post (that is more like a story:) )!

I'm afraid of a lot of things. mostly when we drive over bridges, i just always think it's going to give away a kill all of us! i can't swim, and i've always been afraid of drowning... and canyons. i could never go to the grand canyon. i'd probably fall into it considering how clumsy i am. i've also always been afraid of how i'm going to die. am i going to go peacefully, am i going to get murdered, am i going to fall into the grand canyon (see point 3.), am i going to drown? i need to get a hold of myself so i don't have a nervous breakdown.:hmm:

The only thing I'm truly afraid of is heights. I can't stand being up high. Especially if I can see how high up I am. Like standing on small bridges and such, I tend to freeze up. When I went to Germany, there was a castle I went to go see, and there's a bridge you can stand on to take very scenic pictures. I could barely walk on it I was so scared.
Other than that alot of things cause me anxiety, but I'm not exactly afraid of them.
Zombies type games (i.e. resident evil) are hard for me to play cuz I'll get scared, I usually have to pause for a moment when something startles me so I can calm my nerves.

Well, I have claustrophobia, and thats one of my biggest fears. Just to have thoughts about being closed in too much makes me shiver. I'm afraid of my health, I'm always afraid that I have some kind of sickness when I really don't, and I have a mild case of anxiety, so I get used to being worried and afraid about small things. most people are afraid of heights, and bugs, but Im not afraid of either. But I do have a common fear which is the dark, I can sleep in the dark I just find it hard. I just have one more fear and thats presenting speech's, or projects, to my class I get very nervous.
drown at the bottom of the ocean i can say, its really creepy to think about how dark and bottomless is the ocean, brrrr, i can,t even think about it.
... and heights... can,t say by heights, i,ve allready beat that, how? well its simple, the reason about feeling scared of that its because you think too much about what its going to happend to you, (unless you,re walking in a slipy surface, then you can worry about it) i,ve hardly try to control my fears but its allmost imposible to do, its like you,re attached to something you can,t get rid of, when im at a certain floor, i don,t look how far i am from the floor, its a little hard because there will be allways strong winds blowing at high heights, the way i am controling my fears is to examinate what im fearing of, then i try to find a solution to that fear, and when i face my fear, i know what to do, thats the way i do it.

Really, I am scared of many things. One of them is tornados.
A couple of things.
Height, was never an issue from birth, through childhood, hell I'd climb anything you want me to. Lately though, whenever I go on like a higher water slider or something, I've been open to thoughts of, what if I leaned over this too much and fell off of it? That's mainly what I fear. Otherwise with heights I'm fine.
The Dark. This originated in my childhood somewhere, and I don't really know when. I'm kind of the guy who, always looks behind his back, just to see if there's anything following me. If it's completely dark, like going to sleep or something, I'm fine, but it's just those long dark hallways that get me.
"Scary movies" Nope, can't stand them. Take me to the least "scary movie" you could find, I wouldn't be able to sit there and watch it. I've never liked them, I've never wanted to see them, and I never will. Of that I am certain.

Pain. A fear of pain branches into other fears, such as heights ("what if I fall?"). It also branches further, to nagging worries ("what was that? oh, my mind's playing tricks on me. AGAIN."). Fear of pain has caused me to be overly-cautious, both towards physical "risk" ("i might fall!"), and mental/emotional.

After Thinking on this for a while, I have come to the conclousion taht my greatest fear is related to the dark. No, not the Dark itself- what's in the dark. Whenever i go into an extremely dark room, like if i go to the kitchen during the night, I find myself seeing things hiding in shadows everwhere. It always feels as if There's something hostile, there with me.It's strange...

This may be a little odd, but I'm afraid of slugs. When I was younger, I was running around barefoot and I suddenly stepped on one. I'm afraid of 4 things Bugs (only when there in my house) if there outside I don't mind bugs. In the house once I see one I kill it because once there in your house you never know where there gonna end up next once I saw a spider in my house but I decided to just let it go..and guess where it ended up next..somehow it got on my bed and when I was trying to get to sleep I put my head up to see this black thing crawling on my bed sheets and I freak out and jump off my bed getting something to kill it with.
Heights (kinda) I love heights but they just give me this weird feeling I have dreams alot that I'm on a high building feeling all safe then I somehow fall
Talking in front of alot of people, that just freaks me out I getta chokey feeling and I get all red>:(
and bees I just freak out when I see a bee I'll turn the other way and run no matter which way I'm suposed to be going

I was once at a sleep over and my friends stuffed me in a sleeping bag and zipped it up, since then i have been scared of things from cardboard boxes to coal mines!
Clowns also freak me out!
If i play a boss at night on my ds on any of the two zelda games, i usually get freaked out and sometimes think that there are phantoms in my room, but then my cat curls up next to me and i am ok...

I'm terrified of horror movies, even the really bad ones that most people don't consider scary. Once, my dad convinced me to watch a scary movie with him. Bad idea on my part. My dad claimed it wasn't scary in the least. I had fear induced insomnia for the next two days.
I'm also afraid of big spiders, like those daddy long legs. Little ones don't scare me at all, but the big ones, even dead ones, terrify me.

I have an obsessive-compulsive fear of germs, which had been very severe, but I've made remarkable progress through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I could talk about that for hours, but I'll spare you the fun. ^^
I'm also terrified of Like-Likes, for an unknown reason, particularly the Ocarina of Time ones; it's something with the way they move and try to inhale you -- other than that, I'm not entirely sure. The worst example is from the Beneath the Well mini-dungeon:
I'm just walking casually by, not noticing that the wall to the left of me is in fact a grate, and not a wall; I can't see it because my camera is not facing that way. Unbeknownst to me, there is a Like-Like behind that grate. So, I'm walking by, and Link starts to slide towards the left for some reason. I rotate the camera, and there is a Like-Like sucking at me from the other side of the grate, pulling me towards it, and it's covering up about the entire screen. I try everything I can to kill it and make it stop, but nothing I have can hit it, because it's protected by the grate, so I can't stop it. And it's the sucking motion that scares me in particular. After pushing the analog stick as hard as I can, I make it away after a few seconds.
Ever since that, I've been terrified by Like-Likes. That is probably the origin.
Also, I'm kind of creeped out by slugs and snails. Maybe it's just slimy, flaccid things, then. :yuck:

Bugs and spiders and creepy stuff like that. I can't stand them. Spiders in particular, I have this huge irrational fear of them. Although I'm not usually disturbed very easily, if I'm made aware of the fact that a spider is in the room I'll leave it no matter what the situation is. I still have to call my parents in if I find a spider or a large insect in my room. It's a bit embarrasing. :S
I also have OCD but the fears associated with that are difficult to explain. Essentially, if I don't fulfill whatever urge comes into my mind I feel extremely miserable and anxious. I've had many people tell me to "just shake it off" but it simply can't be done. I can't get that incessant feeling out of my head unless I complete the ritual. These days, I just feel the urge to wash my hands every half hour or so, but it was literally driving me insane when it was at its worst earlier this year.
When I was younger I was horribly afraid of people and crowds, but I've managed to greatly improve on that. These days, I don't very much like crowds or social interaction with people I'm not familiar with, but I don't feel fear.

I'm afraid that one of these days, the things that go through my mind will one day come true. When certain events happen, I always think in worst-case scenarios. An example: maybe around February, I can't remember what month, but I think it was still a winter month, we had a terrible thunderstorm. There is a tree in the front yard of my house. I kept imagining that the tree would get struck by lightning, catch fire, then fall on top of my house. My room is the closest to that tree, so I also thought that it may kill me if the above did happen.
Another is that recently my parents celebrated their anniversary at Universal Studios. I kept thinking that they might die in some bizarre accident, or murdered.
I probably have a lot more examples, but I'll spare you guys from any more.
Another thing I am afraid of is water. I'm not that great a swimmer, but I am still able to manage on my own without any of those safety devices. What worries me the most, though, is that I cannot tread water.
Last, but not least, I am afraid of cockroaches or anything that looks like them. I just can't stand the way they look, and I will have to call one of my parents to kill them every time I see one. What I don't like is the fact that cockroaches have wings and can fly. Luckily, I haven't experienced a roach flying straight toward me... yet...

PJDEP, I'll try and explain Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as best as I can; it really, really helps. Whenever you have an irrational, obsessive-compulsive thought, force yourself to rationalize the repercussions of not doing the ritual, and just try to combat the anxiety with logic, and just don't do the ritual. You have to constantly remind yourself that the effects of avoiding the ritual are negligible. It won't feel like it's working, because it's a very long-term process. I'm sure it sounds silly, but it actually reshapes the neurological structure of your brain, such that the appropriate neural pathways are adjusted to reduce obsessive-compulsive thoughts and anxiety.

I have a major fear of public speaking. I have troubles with it because when I'm nervous I have troubles speaking. Not because I don't want to but because I literally can't talk properly. My voice goes realy chalky and whispery. I start to worry that it'll happen which makes me nervous which actually CAUSES it to happen. I often to presentations in front of just my teacher when all the rest of the class has gone. I hate it so much. :(
I have a pretty serious arachnophobia. If I get into the shower and I see a spider, I get out of the shower and get my mom to kill it. :$ If I try, it takes about 15 minutes to actually exterminate the beast. Then for about the next month or so, I'm so worried that there's a spider in the shower and it's all I can think about. Actually it's pretty much all creepy crawlies.. not just spiders..
I have a fear of meeting new people. Kind of the same reason as public speaking.
I have a terrible fear of big dogs and big animals.
This one's a bit weird but.. Eminem. Whenever I hear his music or see a picture of him I get terrified. This is not a joke.. Maybe it relates to something from my childhood? Idk..

I have an intense fear of Doctors, Dentists, Orthodontists and anything medical. I cannot go, I just can't. Every time I think about it it feels like I'm going to go insane or die. I usually hyperventilate to pass out to escape from it. I don't know why I have this behavior, I cannot recall any trauma, but I think there may be suppressed bad memories. When I get needles at school I don't even get upset. I also have Hypochondria the fear of having an illness because that means I have to go to a hospital.
I don't want to write anymore because it's making me upset.

Well, I used to be deathly afraid of needles... Found out I was a type 1 diabetic a few months ago. So I have to use needles every day now. xP I remember always thinking to myself, "Gee, I'm glad i'm not a diabetic. that'd really suck. But I don't have to worry about that."
As of now, I probably have two major fears. The top one would have to be ketchup. I'm not kidding. Scares the living shiz out of me, and makes me sick. The other would be losing my job. That would really suck.
Edit: Heh, remembered a few more. I hate heights. But I can deal with that one. And crickets. We have a pet gecko, and he eats crickets. They're nasty little buggers, they smell like crap, and they got out of thecage last night. So I got to spend about an hour picking up crickets, because they got all over the house. :<

My biggest fear? Porta-potty's. Not funny, it's true stuff here. D:
Long story shorened:
I was working at my job atSummer Camp, so our age group, 10 + boy's and girls, went on a hiking trip.
See, me having a small bladder during the time, very horrible because I had to go. So, there it was, a death trap of stankiness.
I went in, locked the door behind me, I looked down, I was disgusted- lady panties on the floor, used condom, and liquid's everwhere. I wantec out. But, I couldn't, a bee was blocking my way out. (I'm highly allergicto bee's)
So, that be scared me, I fell backward's and landed on everything. I was grossed out, I ran out, and started to wimper because of that. Oh the pain and embarassment. :(

I also am really scared of fire.
Ever since I was little I've had really long hair and I've always been paranoid that it's going to catch on fire. That paranoia developed into the fear of fire that I have today.

My number one fear would have to be car accidents, I've been in a few minor ones (as a passenger) and they just scare the living daylights out of me. I feel like I'm going to be in a brutal car wreck someday, I imagine it all the time, worst feeling ! I hate being on busy streets/highways, I just cannot trust other drivers. I also don't like crossing busy streets, even at crosswalks, because again I just don't trust other drivers.
Another one, is injuries on other people, especially if they're bleeding. I'm fine if it's me who gets a cut, but someone else and my stomach is in knots if I see their blood. Other injuries like broken bones and whatnot, thankfully I've never witnessed them up close, just the thought makes me shudder though.
Lastly, this is a new one I've developed, due to one bad experience. I decided to donate blood, and I had trouble my first few times 'cause my veins were hard for the nurses to get (they're small apparently? Didn't even know such a thing was possible), but after a few times going I managed to donate. Recently I went to give again, and they finally got the needle in after trying forever, so I was sitting there waiting to fill my bag and whatnot, chatting with the people around me. I suddenly go veery sick to my stomach and dizzy, like the whole room was spinning, it was veery scary ! So thanks to that experience I now have a fear of giving blood or getting blood work done. Which actually makes me very sad because donating blood is something I think everyone should do if they can. Sorry for the rambling explaination, and I wouldn't wanna discourage anyone who reads this from donating blood, I'm just a very small person, that's why I had an experience like I did, it is very rare for it to happen so don't let my story scare you off!

the phobias that i think i have are
Apiphobia (fear of bees) i freak out whenever i see one around me especially since i am allergic to them.
mild Glossophobia (fear of public speaking) especially in front of crowds of 20 or 30 +
other than those two phobias, i am not aware of any other ones that i have at least not at this time in my life

To tell the truth, I don't know what I'm scared of. I used to be scared of swimming because I was afraid there were sharks in the pool. Then I was scared of thunder. I can't remember any other fears I had, but I don't know any I currently have, except maybe my imagination. That thing can drive me nuts.

Heights:
we are all born with this fear only the courageous get over it
Dying:
once again we are born with this fear that is why we have created religion to get over this fear(i don't want to get into that argument)
Fire:
when i was a kid i burnt myself on a woodstove and i won't go near fire anymore unless i have to.

Nuclear War and mighty forces of nature.
Strange, because where I live is in practically zero of danger of either of these. North Idaho doesn't have any natural disasters and anybody trying to wage nuclear war on us wouldn't target such a small population area.

I read few some of these and it made me realise how much I'm actually afraid of... hmm... here's a few that come to mind.
Maskaphobia - You guessed it... a fear of masks... more so people in masks than just the mask itself. Always made me feel a bit uncomfortable because you can't be sure who is behind it... but it got worse about 5 years ago when I got mugged by a gang wearing Scream masks and subsequently had seven shades beaten out of me with a baseball bat...
Acrophobia - Fear of heights. I'm okay if I feel safe. I fly fairly often because my mum lives in the US, whereas I live in the UK. But climbing ladders and stuff... no. Not happening.
Entomophobia - Fear of insects. That's probably a bit brought because I'm only really afraid of specific insects... those being crane flies and moths. I don't really like any insect and that being on me but I especially can't sleep if I know there is a moth or a crane fly in the room.
Arachnophobia - Fear of spiders. I can just about handle the really little tiny ones... as long as they're not on me. But anything bigger than inch or so I can't sleep until its gone or I will have to keep my eye on it so I know where it is at all times.
Eremophobia - Fear of loneliness... which is an odd one because I am quite a recluse. I don't particularly spend much time outside of the house and I live with three friends of mine and I tend to stay in my room on my own a lot of the time. I think this is more to do with growing old alone... not finding that someone to spend my life with.
Kakorrhaphiophobia - Fear of failure... I constantly worry that I'm letting my family down and that I'm not good enough. Also, I constantly fear that I won't be good enough for whoever I end up with, so its probably linked to the last one.
Misanthropy - Not so much a fear... well, not a fear at all. I generally have a disliking and a distrust for people in general. I'm a firm believer that if someone can hurt you or let you down, they probably will. I don't trust anyone... not really even my own parents. Hmm...
So there you go... lots of stuff.

No matter how long I think about it I can only come up with one thing that I'm terrified of. BIRDS! Well, big birds, such as GEESE, EAGLES, FALCONS and CUCCOS (I even have nightmares about them). But the BIRDS that scare me most of all are the SEAGULLS! I was attacked by a SEAGULL ones, it was terrible! And especially this time of the year, when they fly around all over the place, guarding their babies. If you accidentally walk a little to close to the babies the parents go mad! They scream really loud and most of them will attack you!
So yeah, I really am terrified of SEAGULLS! D:
(So I find it pretty ironic that my favorite Zelda character Komali, is a bird man!)

I'm not really afraid of anything. I'm okay with bugs, small spaces, and especially heights. I actually like heights. I love climbing on stuff. The only thing I've ever been afraid of was the dark but that ended about 5 years ago.

Losing my twin brother, DLC. if my whole family died and I could only choose one person to live, it would be DLC. I could not live without him. literally. He is the one friend I can always rely on. Not only the fact he's my best friend, but because everyone would hate me, because they would rather me died than him.
Also, I have the fear of embarrassing myself infront of girls.I can never even have a conversation without stuttering. I'm always worried I'll screw up something and embarass myself infront of them. :(
And Komali, it's strange ur afraid of birds when your name is after a bird-type-thing?

A scene I saw in a movie once, A Clockwork Orange, yes, that was the movie.
There was a scene where the main character started to make weird faces in front of a mirror, I don't even wanna know what he was doing. Then, his thoughts are clearly seen in quick flashbacks. Explosions, a bearded (?) wife being hung from her neck, and a vampire (actually, it's him with fangs)... I don't wanna go into any more detail than that, actually. I still try to erase that image from my head.

I'm not afraid of heights. I'm afraid of getting smashed on the ground. I have great balance, but I always get nervous about Venom Drop (that huge black water slide) which is in Hurricane Harbor. I heard that people died (I'm not sure if they died or got sent to the Emergency Room). I want to go on it, but I estimate that the top of the slide is at least 45 feet.
Then there's drowning. I can't swim. I can stand while I'm in water, which helps me not drown, but there's only a certain distance that I can go to before I start to submerge. I can go completley underwater for maybe 10 seconds without running out of air. By then, I have to get out. I always get myself out though.
But that's more like terror. Fear is like in your head. I don't know what my fear is.

Hm... when I was little, I was mortally afraid of dogs. Ironic, because my first name apparently means dog in some other language. I think it's more like "calev," but whatever. I do fine around dogs now, though. I was just in Utah visiting my aunt and she has this really friendly Sheep Dog named Shelby who always wants to be around people, and I didn't really have any problem at all, so that's a fear I can safely say I've overcome.
I have kind of a fear for sharp objects, too. I have this habit of turning knifes so the blades face away from me if they're sitting on a table or a counter nearby. That's kind of died down a bit, too, though. It's not completely gone, and was never really as bad as my fear of dogs.

okay i have a revision on my fear of hieghts. it's not so much the fear of hieghts, it's the fear of being dropped and falling. That's why I don't have trouble going up the tree, it's teh trouble of getting down and afraid of missing a limb or my sneaker slipping and falling. If i'm up on somebody's shoulders and they start shaking wildly for some reason (cuz that has happened to me) i'll wimper and cling to thier head like a weenie.

I have Social Phobia, persistent and irrational fear of situations that may involve scrutiny or judgment by others, such as parties and other social events. [www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001953/)] I was actually diagnosed four years ago.
Also, I have an irrational fear of seashells. Not conch shells, though. It's those small, tiny seashells. What's worse is when a lot them are piled up or clustered together. It's even worse if they're buried all together in stone or concrete. *shudders*

I guess it's time for a new post here. Here goes...
After a few things that have happened in the last days, I am completely sure that I have a fear of saying the wrong thing when talking to anybody. With "the wrong thing" I mean anything that could come off as weird, offensive or excessive. I'm the kind of person that doesn't hold things in, so it's a struggle against my instincts in many ways. That's a reason I sometimes cut off conversations suddenly.

I'm afraid of this girl not being my friend anymore and I'm also kinda shy about talking directly to her. I really do like her, I consider her as my little sister, so I'm afraid of her not being my friend. I don't know if that is a fear though.
Other fears I have is of microorganisms, like parasites and other small viral things. The thought of them being on me, especially at night...I don't know what to say.

I...don't really know. I used to have a major phobia of wasps and bees, until one of them stung me a few years ago, and I wised up. Since them I've been tracking them down all over our property, smashing them with an old metal bat when I come across them, or use the water hose for a full nest.
As for a fear I have now, I suppose it'd be not knowing where I am. I sometimes wake up having to remember I'm still in my room, but that's only because I haven't overcome my drowsiness.

Stormy weather; this stems back to my childhood. Black clouds, thundersyorms, I'm terrified of them. In turn, I'm terrified of hurricanes, earthquakes, the end of the world, etc.
