I'm new to the fourms so forgive me if I... you know, did something wrong here. :embarressed:
I want to know how your fight went with Gannondorf at the end of the game(Ocarina of Time). When I fought him, I thought he was kinda easy to be the 'King of Evil'. I had 3 bottles filled with fairies just in case, but didn't die once when I fought him. I was shooting light arrows, of course, but then I ran out of magic. Then I dropped down low, smashed the pots, and problem solved. And it's kinda weird because it took me at least 4-5 tries to kill Phantom Gannon in the Forest Temple.>.<
I also want to know how fighting Gannon went for all of you. I died twice fighting him, but luckily had fairies to revive me. (Also, I LOVED the music playing when you fought him. He was my favorite boss)

Well, for me the first time I was really puzzled because I won against Phantom Ganon by doing Z targeting + A around two hours, so I was oblivious to the whole Tennis concept. But it was really epic, I remember even my parents stepped in the room to see the final fight once I could figure out what to do.
I enjoyed it through all of it... well, in my first time.

Oh no, lol. Before I got to the room where you fight Gannondorf I saved like 10 times, and then after I beat him I saved again like 10 times. That really stinks it froze on you, hehe!

I died a couple of times during my fight with Ganondorf, I rarely keep fairies in bottles (maybe I should have done that at times) and since I never care about collecting a lot of heartpieces I guess itīs not strange that I couldnīt finish him off at my first try. But after Iīd beaten Ganondorf the rest went really smooth and proposed no problems whatsoever.

I developed a pretty good strategy for beating him, and that is just to beat him as quick as possible. The main goal is to keep him from shooting those black power orbs that you can't hit back, cause once he starts that it gets much more difficult. So I never really found him to be very difficult. Using the hover boots, Biggoron's Sword, and learning to shoot the light arrows on time, and its a piece of cake.

I found Ganondorf very easy. I simply hit back all of his lightning balls in the mini-volley ball game, and then quickly got him with the arrows, I then rolled off the platform and I jump attacked him with the Biggoron's Sword, then just slashed him.
I repeated this process and then quickly beat him. It is also possible to reflect his attacks with bottles, but I didn't try. :P
Ganon on the other hand...

I found Ganon to be easier than Ganondorf actually. One thing that most people don't do is role between his legs. As soon as he pulls up to swing at you, you can role between them, turn, and slash his tail w/ the Biggoron's Sword. Then just continue the process whenever you get the Master Sword back.
Once you get really good at it, you will find that the first fight before your actually get the Master Sword back, Ganon isn't as quick to turn around after you slash him once, which gives you the opportunity to stay behind him better for a second hit. If you can get good at doing this, he really becomes one of the easier bosses of the game imo.

I thought that gannondorf was exremely easy:clap:........ but i the hard part was actually battling gannon also while you are battling gannondorf you can pull out 1 of ur empty bottles and when he shoots a ball of energytry to catch something with your empty bottle and it will shoot back the lightning :)

Besides Bongo-Bongo, Gannondorf was probably my favorite boss in OoT. Volleyball fights in Zelda games just seem to be my kind of thing. The fight was also just right in difficulty - it wasn't too hard, while I didn't fall asleep while fighting him.

I actually DID have some trouble beating him down the first time. For one, the absence of Navi pretty much crippled me. I had become far to reliant on Z targeting, so that was a pretty big problem. Number two, I had no idea that you could fall down the gap in the floor and live. I honestly thought it would cost me hearts if I did. Number three, it took me quite a while to figure out I wasn't hurting him when I didn't use the light arrows. I battled him a long time thinking I was hurting him by just hitting his "volley ball" back at him.
So, yeah, I did have problems with him, but unfortunately, I had many more problems with Ganon.

I can't honestly remember if I died or not fighting him, but I do remember having a bit of a tough time with the tennis portion of the battle. I knew what to do, but I would get worn out by him not failing at the send-back, and I would eventually be knocked off my feet by the energy in order to have to start again.
The most memorable part for me though was the lead up to the room he was in. I loved the staircase and the pipe organ music growing louder and louder. It's one of those times I wished I had saved before getting to the room, and not after I was in the room, so I could experience the whole castle prior to the final battle again with all of the monsters in tact.

Yeah, I just recently found out the rolling-between-the-legs thing. When I fought Ganon I just quickly ran around him, and that's probably why I died a few times. Especially after you get the Master Sword back and he's much quicker.
Oh, and another thing.... this battle (Ganon) was actually the first time EVER that I used my Deku Nuts :xd: To be honest, I never really thought to use them before... and I'm kind of mad I didn't because they could have come in handy.

I had a bit of trouble fighting Ganondorf in his "King of Evil" form the first time, because I really wasn't to great, and there were several instances when, after stunning him, I'd jump wrong, fall, and hurt myself, causing me to waste, and eventually run out of, magic. That and those super-powerful energy blasts that were hard to avoid (you know, when he has to charge up for a while, and flings a ton of light-orbs at you). That is, until I learned that shooting him with a Light Arrow while he is charging up effectively stuns him.
As for Ganon, well, I thought he was actually a bit easier than Ganondorf. It wasn't too hard to avoid his attacks, and then it was just a matter of rolling underneath him, and shooting his tail with an arrow (or, if you have the Biggoron Sword, slashing it), and then repeating with the Master Sword. However, though it wasn't too hard, the atmosphere was perfect; the ruins of the castle, the look of a pre-dawn twilight kind of thing, the epic music. It all made it seem as though if Link failed, the entire world would be doomed (which it probably would be).

That is exactly what I do. It is actually quite simple. The process of rolling through and slashing or pounding with either the Biggoron Sword or Megaton hammer wasn't difficult for some.
Ganon on the other hand...
When I said this, I meant that Ganondorf was extremely easy, and Ganon was still a little easy, unless of course that is if you are doing some challenges like the 3 heart one. Ganon wasn't hard really, but he could slash you and deal about 4 hearts damage if you are bad a dodging. Fighting Ganon is simple, and the easiest methods for me are to shoot him with light arrows and go in for the kill with the Master Sword/Biggoron Sword, or, if I am out of magic and didn't bother bringing potions, I simply roll under and go in for the attack.
Like Shnappy, I thought Ganondorf was easy because of the whole volley ball/tennis tactic. It was pretty simple and pretty much only involved good timing skills. A good way to practice that is fight Ganondorf/Diabolical Sisters lots; or/and you could get your timing right in the timing minigame in Majora's Mask.
I think the final bosses in Ocarina of Time were actually too weak and simple for the game, but possibly hard to newcomers of the Zelda series. So, as I've stated previously; I found Ganondorf easier than Ganon; if not, the same difficulty of Ganon, but I don't find Ganon to be easier.

Really? I had no idea you could do that either. Explains the climbable walls in that giant room with all the pots before the battle.
Anyway, I found Ganondorf A LOT harder than Ganon. I was trying to get a zero death count, so that meant many resets for me. I could never time the sword slashes exactly right, and for some reason, using the Light Arrows after the energy ball stunned him initially didn't occur to me. :P Having no Z-Targeting was terrible as well.
Ganon was a blast. I didn't have too tough a time beating him, but I did get a little worried about my magic running out. Still, that was one epic boss.

I found Ganondorf harder than Ganon.
It took me a long while to beat Phantom Ganon but by the time I faced Ganondorf I had gotten better at playing tennis with him. I took a couple hits at first, then I finally got the hang of how he threw the energy orbs and using the biggoron sword, the light arrows, and the hover boots, I was able to take him down on my first try.
With Ganon, I was surprised at how easy he was, even though he did an ***load of damage with or without the defense upgrade, I never took much damage since he only hit me twice or thrice. I would either side hop around him and slice with the biggoron sword or role between his legs and do the same. And even though his movements got a lot more wild after I got the Master Sword back, I still finished him offed in a couple of minutes.
The fight was epic none the less, and he is my favourite boss in OoT. In fact he usually is my fav boss in all the games he's in.

Heh, yeah. As I said in my other post I had some trouble figuring out exactly when I was supposed to use the light arrows, so naturally I was running out of magic all the time. Those bottles really helped, and I didn't have to waste my blue potions on Ganondorf because of them. The bottles are also a pretty good source of hearts if you're running low.

Pathetically easy. I had someone show me how to beat him before I fought him, so I beat him in one shot, although I had a little trouble as I sucked at video games back then.
But I don't think I would have had as much trouble as I did against Phantom Ganon.
All in all, a pretty weak final battle. Seems very few games (if any) are able to surpass A Link to the Past in that regard... -.-

Well, that's the thing. I found the guide here on ZD and looked up how to fight Ganondorf, thinking I would have trouble fighting him on my own. Once I read everything I pretty knew how to fight him... so I think that made it easier. But still. I think with any boss once you figure out how to kill it, it becomes easy.

I suppose. I don't think that's necessarily true in every case though.
I think bosses should be designed so first you have to figure out how to hurt them, then they're still a challenge because of their design. For Zelda, but also for video games in general.

When i fought Ganondorf it was really easy,I didnt die and I had no fairys.Fighting Ganon was hard for me because when i fought him the first time i used all my magic up and had to use longshot to hit him but i died.Next time i did the same and almost succed. But the third time i use longshot most of the time then when i got the master sword i used my light arrows though i fought him again the 4th time and finally saw if ganon breaks the rocks magic comes out. x_x

My fight with ganondorf sucked! When he got stunned with the lightning ball (ping pong sequence) I would always miss with my light arrows for some reason and then i would have to do it again. I died once during the battle but i had four fairies so i didnt have to start over.:(

Sadly, this just isn't the case with the more recent bosses in the Zelda series. OoT's bosses weren't "hard" but they weren't really "easy" either. I think they walked a fine line with OoT, and it worked out great. But WW on the other hand, had super easy bosses, that were very easily figured out and defeated. TP somehow made the bosses even easier, but I think the fun factor was implemented a lot more than in WW. Like most people are saying, video games keep getting easier, and the same goes with the bosses in the games. I'm almost positive that ST will have super easy bosses as well.

Epic
i gotta say this is the first zelda game i ever played and it got me into the series...
when i finally got to Ganon i was so moved by the game itself... the entire Ganon's Castles was just to climatic for me... especially getting the room where you finally meet him...
i remember getting all anxious after fighting the stalfos on the way to ganon and i remember the sound of the organ piano that ganon plays getting louder and louder as you reach the top... i remember my hands being all sweaty and feeling all nervous because i didnt know how to fight him at first and i was worried cuz i wasnt sure if i had enough fairies or magic before i walked in to the room
i loved how during the cutscene the piano music stops because ganon turn around and yells "give them to me" or something like that.. and immediately following Ganons rage you are thrown right in the middle of the battle and he pound the ground beneath you and you fall to the bottom (at least i did) but you just climb back up and continue to fight.
then when i thought i had killed him he is still trying to win by destroying the castle with you in it out of desperation... I remember my heart was pounding in my chest after he uses as much of the triforce of power as he can to become a monster himself to win... the music, the feel, the scenery, i was so sucked into the game... and even after that "final blow" it still wasn't enough to kill him
...he was sealed away
and i remember thinking how i couldn't believe that i had just finished the most amazing videogame ever created by man kind..
honestly... i was blown away

The final battles are something that I think they make easier and more straight forward to see through than the other bosses as a nice respite from using your brain to figure out what to do xD
Also, I think they make the final bosses easier to make the battle that much more epic for you, so you don't have to focus on your heart meter as much as you have to focus on Ganon's beast form :P

As far as OoT goes, I can say that the battle with Ganon/dorf was pulled of with perfection. Not only was the first half very reminiscent of older games (floor crumbling, shooting back beams, etc.), but it was very fluid. Ganondorf's body language really expressed how arrogant and self-centered he was. He's shake it off after being shot with a light arrow with a, "HAH!", as if saying, "Bring it."
After beating his human form, he dramatically coughed up blood and let out a wail of defeat so loud that the glass windows shattered. He then fell to his knees, and finally to the floor, and his cape flowed around him. I thought that was incredible. Silently, the princess was released from her crystalline prison, and I totally didn't expect her reaction. She looked over at him solemnly and called him pitiful. It was a portrayal of her seeing that, while he was a villain, he was still human. Very deep.
I absolutely loved running through the castle. Another very symbolic part of the game was that Zelda was saving Link by leading the way to safety. It's not as amazing as brandishing the Master Sword, but it's still an interesting concept. Escaping wasn't difficult, the but the crumbling castle provided an adrenaline rush... or, at least it did in my case. I love how Zelda would gasp with worry if Link was hurt. It was a pretty deep characteristic for a game back then. She cared, she was worried, and she was scared. I would have been, too.
Watching the keep collapse in on itself instead of out and around could symbolize that Ganondorf had been felled by his own greediness. I love that when they thought it was over, Link smiled. I was happy to see that he was finally able to breathe. But no! That was taken away almost immediately when Link and Zelda hear a loud thud. I was petrified. I didn't want to walk back into the ruins. But I did. And then, the battle went from PWN to QWN. Ganondorf burst out of the rubble with a vengeance. His Ganon form was designed wonderfully. He was a pig-beast, but he didn't look silly. He looked... frightful. He then surprised me even more when he knocked the Master Sword away. Stuff I didn't expect to happen just kept happening!
Battling him was awesome. The size difference was awesome. Rolling underneath him was awesome. I loved seeing Zelda use her power. All of it. It was so exhausting for her that she fell to her knees. He was that strong. He was so powerful that 7 sages couldn't kill him. They had to seal him away. And what got me the most was him swearing that he'd destroy their descendents. And I believed it.
The game wasn't that amazing compared to some of the other games, but that Ganon battle was incredible. INCREDIBLE. The cutscenes, the setting, the music, the facial expressions, everything.

I thought they were both equal in difficulty, but if I had to choose, I'd say Ganon was more difficult. I was six when I beat the game completely, so the first time I beat it he was probably harder. If I fought him now, he Ganondorf would probably tougher.
Let me say that again though: I was six when I made it. A six year old could beat that game without any help.
But in all seriousness, Ganon was a defintite tougher fighter, until I found out you had to hit his tail, and not barrage his head with light arrows...

At first I thought that the battle wasn't too hard or easy, but now it's even easier than the Ganon fight in TP. I like to reflect Ganon's magic attacks with empty bottles. I had a lot of trouble beating the beast form of Ganon because even when I got the master sword back I kept on using the Biggoron's sword not knowing that I couldn't defeat him with it. After I found out that I needed to use the sword, I would roll under Ganon, slash his tail and repeat until I finished him off.

I thought the final boss from OoT was moderatly easy. I could easily beat the boss without getting touched. The First part of this battle was used in alot of Zelda Games. It was simply, deflecting the ball of energy back and forth untill, he get's hit, then quickly shoot a Light Arrow at him, then attack.
Escaping the tower was a cool thing to add to the battle. I loved running down the tower, battling enemies, and making it to the bottom before the tower falls and time runs out. The Stalfos were fun to battle because you knew you were in a hurry to complete it and suddenly two Stalfos pop out.
This part of the battle wasn't very fun, but I found it very epic. I thought it was another easy part, because you just had to roll, between his legs, then smash at his tail with some item. I liked the ending when Link slashes countless of times at Ganon's face and green blood(for me) comes out of him. I love that part.

I though both Ganondorf and ganon were extermely easy.
My first time with ganon was really easy because I just rolled right through his legs!
Ganon dorf was just as easy as Ganon untill he made the bigger orbs, so ganondorf was tougher.
But the fight with ganon turned out to be one of the most memirible fights of all time.

My first fight with ganondorf was... um... "interesting" at best. While I was geting the timing down, I missed a bunch. After frequent shouts of, "Laugh it up fuzzball" (Han Solo) and "Yuck it up all you want Mr. Krabs, just remeber you're yucking in the presense OF A WINNER!!" (Squidward) I realized that I'd run out of Magic Power, and hoping to save my Faries for the Ganon battle I 'd already broken all the pots on the lower level. So I ran around in circles for a few minute trying to evaluate my situation, I just let him kill me. Then I procrastenated for days, so furious was I at my incompetance. >:(

I found running down the tower was harder than the 2 final bosses, i think i learned about the roll-through-legs trick the first time I tried or maybe i saw a friend do it... im not sure. Also the balls of energy ganondarf throws at you (you know the ones. where like twenty of them come at you!) I later found that using the sword spin technique at the right time would deflect them all, which made not dying way easier. Light arrows could be used blind ganon and give more time to slash his tail.
Hearts were always around in the 2 battles but the tower run had the danger of falling off and running out of time. I always thought it would've been better if lots of random enemies had been thrown on the battlefield while fighting Ganon, it would have added some... difficulty.

I'd say the experience of fighting Ganondorf/Ganon wasn't hard.. but fun.... there are definately harder bosses in OoT than Ganondorf/Ganon, like the original poster said, even his phantom is harder... I guess it also helps to know what to do... like for instance you can't kill him with the biggoron sword... and figuring out what to do when you lose the master sword if you don't have the biggoron sword as backup.. But altogether it's fun fighting him IMO.
