Ok i wanted to make a topic for zelda fans who noticed some easter eggs in zelda games that caught our attention. of course if you just pay good attention you will find something interesting.
Post here the easter eggs that caught tour attention of the zelda games you played.
Cool thing about this is that some easter eggs actually refrer to other things.
Note: now we all know these easter eggs can be find in FAQ's, this is a topic to discuss about the easter eggs and not just seach and list it. so if you post an easter easter egg that caught your attention, please post you toughts or opinion about it.
these are the things that caught my attention:
OOT:
- The mario paintings in hyrule castle
( i was quite suprised, at that moment i was thinking like "what the heck is mario doing here")
- Bowser button on malon
( more mario stuff, how many mario stuff is in this game? )
MM:
- The fungus thing thats shaped as a n64 controller in the water of inside clock tower.
( ok when i first saw this i was little, my toughts were "am i seeing things or does it really look like n64 controller?)
- Mario and elvis mask.
( ok almost everybody knows this, but still i got my attention)
- Dolphin sketch in astral observatory
( at the start i didn 't knew this was an easter egg, like a couple of years later i found out that the codename for the GC was "the dolphin", when i knew that i was like "now thats an easter egg that had a meaning" )
WW:
- Cobra on tingle 's back.
( dunno why its a cobra, first tought was "cobra? why? see tingle is evil lol" )
- Painting of link and triforce in tetra 's room
( i didn 't knew that tetra was zelda when i first played it, when i saw this my toughts were "is tertra reseaching something about this" )
- Link 's attention.
( don 't know if this is an easter egg but link actually looks at something that caught is attention, on the N64 titles only the fairy would turn in to green. so it was pretty cool )
TP:
- Link can open doors YAY!.
( also don 't know if this is actually an easter egg but, FINNALY link used his hands for the first time to open doors.)
- Fortune teller
( wait wasn 't this also in Alttp )
- Three girls in front of circus game in hyrule castle town
( they really look like Din, Nayru & Farore from TMC )
PH: (havn 't found out much about it.)
- Those gossip statues
( really everytime if i look at them they look like wario )
Of course there are lot more easter eggs that i noticed. But these are the ones that really caught my attention.

Well another mario easter egg from Oot is just talon and ingo, funny how they look like mario and luigi, yes a lot of refrences to mario, not that many anymore though

You mean Talon. Talon is Malon's father.
There was also a picture of Mario in some of the houses in the village in Link to the Past.

really never noticed that in Alttp.
btw Darklink i never noticed they look like mario and luigi, come to think of it you are right.
don 't know if nintendo really intend to do that.
i noticed that the music can also be easter eggs sometimes.
for example, water temple song, the background music strongly resembles the music of super mario 3 when you get the rod after a boss fight. you know lthat mario falls from the sky and the curse is lifted from the king, or something like that.

Goombas, chain chomps, and even an evil Kerby clone.
Oh! and that couple having a romance by correspondence, and one of them passed off a picture of Princess Peach as their own.

How about the resemblence Tarin and Talon have to Mario, and the many references to Mario games in Link's Awakening such as Goombas, Chain Chomps, the Peach photograph and the Yoshi Doll. The Ghosts in some Zelda games do the same as first seen in Super Mario Brothers 3, where they will only come towards you if you have your back turned.
Malon also has a necklace/brooch type of jewelry that resembles Bowser, I believe. Those are all I can think of off the top of my head.

You guys have listed so many, I can't think of any that haven't been said yet. Except for the flute in LttP. When you play it, the tune is from Super Mario Bros. 3. I actually spent about a week trying to figure out what it was from. It sounded so familiar, but I had completely forgotten the game. Me and my brother were playing Super Mario Bros. 3 for the last time (NES cable broke soon after...) and we heard it in the water world. Atleast, I think it was the water world...

listed many? man this only the beginning, there is so much easter eggs in zelda games.
there are even easter eggs that havn 't been posted in FAQ 's yet.
and yes that melody of water temple is samiliar of super mario 3.
i said that in my last post, but hey if you really notcied that by yourself, then i give you credit that i'm not the only one who noticed that.
but for now people talk only about mario easter eggs that are in zelda games, of course there are many of them but besides that, there are more intersting stuff.
for instance: remember link 's treehouse in oot. outside at the back of the treehouse at the back there a little picture scribbled there with a little boy and a monster. if i'm not mistaken thats ganon and link. or you know the time in MM when you get the circus leader mask, that tune is "Ballad of the wind fish" if i'm not mistaken.

Oh, I didn't know that you could mention Easter Eggs that refer to other ZELDA games. How about the well-known Ocarina of Time opening theme, it sounds like the flute from LoZ and SMB 3.
And the Chris Houlihan room - I think most people know about that. Chris Houlihan won a contest in a Nintendo Power Magazine and was given his own room in Link to the Past.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/1/1f/Chris_Houlihan_Room_screenshot.png/180px-Chris_Houlihan_Room_screenshot.png
I'm sure someone else has noticed this as well. Mamu in Link's Awakening has a strange resemblence to King Wart from SMB 2.
Does this thread also include cameo appearences of Link? That is, references to Zelda from other games or movies? If so, then:
in Final Fantasy (one?), There is a grave with Link's name on it. And in Super Mario RPG, if you go in the inn, Link is sleeping there.

yeah easter eggs withing zelda games could refrer to so much things.
other zelda games and other nintendo games or anything nintendo releated , sometimes even other cultures (don 't know sure if you call that an easter egg but hey you notice it)
the dolphin easter egg and the n64 controller in MM was quite suprising.
especially the dolphin because when MM was released the GC was in devolement. not thats an easter egg with a deep hidden meaning. i also said in my first post, after a few years i realized the meaning.
btw the Chris Houlihan easter egg you mention, i didn 't knew that but thats funny.
its really an unusual easter egg.
i noticed that the music can also be easter eggs sometimes.
for example, water temple song, the background music strongly resembles the music of super mario 3 when you get the rod after a boss fight. you know lthat mario falls from the sky and the curse is lifted from the king, or something like that.
That use of the word 'strongly' is a tad liberal there, don't you think? The section of the Water Temple music with slow arpeggios shares a measly 3 notes from the SMB3 music you're referring to, otherwise it's completely different. I've heard both and I never thought OoT was attempting any sort of Mario easter egg in that regard, but, being a musician, what do I know.

No idea what you're talking about. Maybe I need to listen to the Mario 3 soundtrack again, but I don't remember hearing the LttP flute melody anywhere other than in LttP. Check out vgmusic.com and link the track that sounds like the LttP if you're so inclined.
P.S. Are you sure by 'LttP' you don't mean "LoZ" and "the title screen of OoT" and that you heard this melody in the water world because you happened to use the flute while you were there? That melody is originally from LoZ and was reused in Mario 3 and OoT. The flute melody in LttP is (as far as I've been aware) unique, and kind of long for a flute melody. d g a D a b----- d g a D a b----- it keeps going and I won't continue writing it out cause I doubt anyone knows what I'm talking about anyway.

no the ones in oot had not even a face, i think it got the sheikan logo on it. one with the eye and bloody tear.
by the way there was a other easter egg is TP that refrered to oot.
you know the fishing pound right, after you looked at the fisherman picture of oot, the girl (can 't rember her name right now) begins to scratching her back like the fisherman in oot.

In OOT and MM, the keaton mask resembles a Pikachu.
In MM, where Keatons actually appear, they look like something between a Ninetales and a Pikachu. The Keaton mask is called nostalgic by the mask seller, because kids loved them a long time ago.
Also, the Oocca in MM seemed to be based of a painting from M.C. Escher, called Änother World".

I've seen the Bowser button on Malon and never thought of anything from it since Mario and Zelda were both created from the same company.
I've seen the Mario mask on the Happy Mask Salesman and thought the same as the button.
Anything, I haven't noticed but yes, it is nice that Link uses his hands to open doors in TP.

chu isthe traditional sound that a mouse makes. if you've seen the movie spirited away, the mouse boy says chu
that wuold why the bombchu is a mouse like creature
and now my list. The Triforce is the symbol of a samurai clan. The ocarina songs in MM are the songs from OoT, only backwards(its just afew though). in one of the hamtaro games for GBA there is a pedestal with what llooks like the master sword from ALttP, once you get three beads(green, red, and blue) the hamster pulls it out. Epona is the name of the celtic horse god. The name Zelda came from Scott Fitzgerald's wife, Zelda Fitzgerald. In TP there is a carving in the wall of Arbiter's Grounds that depicts like fighting ganon in OoT. thats all for now, i bid thee adieu.

i have checked the link out.
most of them i already knew, but there are a couple that is completely new to me.
I'm amazed about some discoveries. and i'm also glad that i'm not the only one who is so interested about the minor details with easter eggs in zelda titles.
2 of them really caught my eye, so lemme give you my compliments for finding them (or the persons that reported it)
first one that i found really interesting was:
Two billboards in the Hidden Village each say "Welcome to Old Kakariko". Now, by "Old", do the Sheikah mean this is the Kakariko of OoT, or, more likely, their own "private" Kakariko, free from the rabble of the Hylians who were invited to settle in the "new" Kakariko.
http://www.desertcolossus.com/zelda11/oldkakariko.jpg
and the second one:
[Lank] After walking into the Arbiter's Grounds and arriving into the room where you first see the 4 big Poes, walk to the right and through the door. On the walls are sketches of Link with a shield and of Ganon. They're also seen in the room directly beneath this one in the nook that appears after rotating the pillar.
[Eralk Fang] This is a carving throughout the walls of the Arbiter's Grounds that resemble a beast and a man with a shield. Generic enough for a carving. As this picture is from the Wii version, I flipped it around to see the "canon" version of it. Turns out the symbol on the man's shield closely resembles the Kokiri symbol (seen on the Kokiri Shield) from Ocarina of Time! Not only that, there are three symbols above the beast's head. The final form of Ganon in Ocarina of Time had three ponytails. Could this be a carving of the Hero of Time facing off against Ganon?

I was just playing Majora's Mask again today, and I noticed something odd as I walked from West Clock Town into South Clock Town. I had already slashed the owl statue in South Clock Town, but when I looked at the statue from the entrance into South Clock from West Clock (so I wasn't quite in North Clock Town yet) I saw that the owl's wings weren't open. A minor Easter egg, but neat none-the-less.

lol, i would not call that an easter egg, but rather a flaw.
something like that is also in oot. like when you are an adult and you are looking to the town from the hyrule castle entrance (with the broken bridge) then you still see hyrule castle town as it original state and also you see hyrule castle itself still standing in stead of ganons tower.

This probably isn't an "easter egg", but I have always though that the Moon in MM was somehow influenced by the asteroid you blast to get to the Black Hole in Star Fox for SNES (if anyone knows what I'm talking about that is).
Here is the asteroid from Star Fox. You would do a special thing to make it appear, then shoot it until it turned into the black hole. Then you go in and thats how you get to the Black Hole level.
http://www.rpgfan.com/mailbag/graphics/03_2002/asteroid.gif
And here, of course, is the Moon from MM.
http://images.wikia.com/zelda/images/c/cf/The_Majora's_Mask_Moon.jpg
Also, the fact that a Black Hole sucks things up in it is similar to the "I WILL CONSUME ALL" thing about the Moon in MM.

Try finding the running man and give him the bunny hood (in OoT). Sometimes it works, sometimes it dosen't. ^^ I won't spoil the surprise for those of you who don't know about it.

I've got one! Well, its actually in Animal Crossing: Wild World, but its a Zelda easter egg.
If you go into a house, and open their dresser, (This is random on different gmaes, it my not ven be on your file at all) It'll say, "You found 10 rupees! Looks like this is your lucky day! To bad you can't spend them in this town.."
Cool, eh? I suppose its not really a Zelda easter egg... But it has reference to Zelda, sorda..

In one of (or maybe all of them? i forget) the goron elder rooms in the goron mines in TP there is a giant statue of the one eyed ghost salesman guy from the market in OoT.
I dont see why gorons would have a statue of that guy. Ive never seen anyone mention this online and i noticed it a while ago.
in PH, what are the gossip stones that look like wario? i haven't seen them and i've beaten the game like 4 or 5 times. also, an easter egg in MC is that if you run into a closet with the pegasus boots, it will open up and some rupees or a heart will come out. also, i don't really get this, but once you've beaten MC go upstairs in your house and go down into the bottom left corner under the table. Ezlo will say something like: "hmm? i sense something! if you have a secret, don't be afraid to tell me!" I'm thinking this might be where you get the amulet swiftblade talks about in the swordsman newsletter, but i've tried everything and can't figure out what thats for.

If you have't seen the stones you haven't beaten the game.. you may have finished the story line.. but not the game.. On the treasure maze island you have to talk to it to get in... on the uncharted island that you have to draw it makes you hit them in the right order in order to get to the Windfrog King.

Don't know if this one was already mentioned or not, but in Final Fantasy I and II Dawn of Souls, a gravestone in Elfland, I think it was, read "Here lies Link." I'm not exactly sure of the meaning behind it, but I presume that it was a tribute to the successful Zelda series while Square Enix was going down the drain. It's been a long while, but it's something along those lines. =P

Now for something completely stupid and it might not even be an Easter Egg, we might just be seeing things.
On my first playthrough of Twilight Princess, my fiance' watched me as I went through the Goron Mines. Suddenly, he exclaims to me "ELO!"
I ask, "Where?"
"Above that doorframe."
I looked where he indicated and, sure enough, there appeared to be the letters "E L O." The way they looked, however, I could not tell if they were intentional or just part of artwork/cracks, something that his eye just caught.
There is the possibilty of it being intentional, however. For those who do not know "ELO" is the common abbreivation for Electric Light Orchestra - a musical group famous for, among many songs, a song called "Twilight."
And, yes, that song is known worldwide. There is a music video to that song that is very famous in anime-fandom circles, done for a Japanese anime/sci fi convention back in the 80s by the people who eventually formed Studio Gainax. If you are wondering about, it just Google or Youtbue "Daicon" and you'll find it.
Unfortunately, I do not have any screenshots and I can't remember where exactly in the Goron Mines this doorframe is.

That is because this is the new game which obviously includes something to do with Tingle's 'human form.' That IS Tingle's 'human form.'
The reason I have been putting 'human form' in inverted commas, is that Tingle is human, and if you think he isn't he certainly is in the beginning of TRR and he looks nothing like this there.

*One is that when in Wind Waker, you can make the King of Red Lions flinch when you attack him. I don't know why it's so funny, but it is.
*Another is in Phantom Hourglass, when you're in Romanos's Shooting Range and you fire an arrow at him. He'll jump over it. I just thought that it was kind of funny...

One thing I found is that when you play the Ocarina of Wind in The Minish Cap, it plays the beginning of the intro theme of Ocarina of Time, but a bit more sped-up.
The figurine gallery in Wind Waker has the Bunny Hood, Goron Mask, All-Night's Mask, and I believe the Keaton Mask hanging on the wall.
In A Link to the Past, there are some paintings of Mario located in Kakariko Village. If you pull on their moustaches, ruppees pop out.
In Majora's Mask, the four forms of Link play Ballad of the Wind Fish. Compared to the original one in Link's Awakening, it sounds awful (in my opinion).
I think most, or all, of these were already mentioned. For now, they're all I can think of, not including the thought of the billions of Mario references in Link's Awakening.

Okay, first go to the Ikana Castle's roof. Look at the bottom of your map,and when you go there you will see the three pillars I mentioned. The first pillar closest to the wall will have the airplane.

Those are provinces within Hyrule, so it's natural they'd be named after the Goddesses. Ordon is outside of Hyrule.

Actually, it's the flute (in Engrish: "recorder") of the first Zelda game (LoZ) that sounds exactly like the flute in SMB3 (which came out later). It was also used in the title screen of OoT, but a little different.
And speaking of SMB3, the water world map theme (level 3) is where the File Select/Great Fairy Theme of aLttP (and later games) comes from.

I love eastern eggs but i suck at finding them. This has probably been posted but in Hyrule Castle, TWW, there is a painting with Zelda and other people who looks like the Pirates. I found it pretty intresting.
EDIT: Doesn't the music change in like houses if you name Link Zelda in TWW. And I've heard there is a way to change the color of Link tunic, also in TWW.

Well, this isn't much of an easter egg, I don't think, but... In the Wind Waker, after you confront Ganondorf on the Forsaken Fortress with the Master Sword, and before you take Medli to the Earth Temple, if you give her a Golden Feather... Well, she gets all happy because the gold feathers are something Ritos use for wedding proposals or something...
I also mentioned one about the Smithies in A Link to the Past, and finally got a video, but it won't let me edit the post because it's too old, so... I guess I'll include that, too...

(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Vbp2c-NR68)(if you want to skip my travel, since I was too stupid to use the flute, just skip to 1:42-ish on the video)
Thats an interesting easter egg of the smithies I had never seen or thought about doing that.

oh, by the way, even after completing TP 100%, you don't get a Link Mii. it's a st00pid rumor that was started and it's not real. i finished TP 100% YEARS ago, and to this day the only Link Mii i have is the one i made...

This is probably well-known, but in Spirit Tracks, the first time you enter the ceremony room, you can see a painting of Tetra.

Wow I think i might be the first to actually notice this, But In Snow Peak Mansion In TP, on the 2nd floor, in the room where you have to knock a chandelier sideways, then another one vertically to get to a chest with a red rupee in it theres a painting on the wall that looks a red swirling mess ..actually looking at it , it looks like a distorted Demon Lord Ghirahim.. wether an easter egg like the whole dolphin thing mention pages ago or, if its actually a hint that Ghirahim plays a much more noticable role in Zelda.

I'm surprised nobody has posted this before, in the stock pot inn in MM there are several large masks on the walls that bear a striking resemblence to zant's mask

I'm not sure if it counts as an easter egg but Nabooru's second-in-command's clothes change colour with whatever tunic you have worn throughout the Gerudo Fortress in OoT.
