View Full Version : Ocarina of Time Favorite Sage?

Who was your favorite sage?

Rauru- Rauru is a very mysterious person, and you don't see him as often as the other sages. It is possible he was on of the original sages who sealed the triforce away. When Link encountered Ganondorf, after Ganondorf had stolen the triforce, Rauru sealed Link the Sacred Realm, knowing Link was not ready to use the Master Sword. He always remained hidden, even when the other sages were awakened. Rumor has it, that after Link defeated Ganondorf, Rauru had ended his life as the Sage of Light.

Saria- Saria is a close childhood friend of Link's, and is a native kokiri. Her age is unknown, for the kokiri live eternally. When the Great Deku Tree passed on, and Link started his adventure, she gave him a Fairy Ocarina, and also taught him the melody,"Saria's Song." Whenever he played that song, he could speak with Saria, for help on his mission. Seven years later, Saria sensed strange happenings at the Forest Temple. When she went to investigate, she was held captive by Ganondorf's minions. Link defeated Phantom Ganon, and revealed Saria as the Forest Sage.

Darunia- Darunia is the leader of the Gorons of Goron City. Him and Link become close friends after he hands over the precious Goron's Ruby to him, he even names his son after the Hero of Time. When the Gorons are captured and taken to the Fire Temple, Darunia attempts to rescue them, and slay the dragon Volvagia. Darunia sadly fails, but Link is able to save the day using the Goron sacred weapon, the Megaton Hammer. For the hardships Darunia had to endure, he becomes the Sage of Fire.

Ruto (adult) - Ruto has matured greatly into a sensible, beautiful Zora. When Zora's Domain is frozen over, she is trapped in the Ice Cavern, but later saved by Sheik. When Link goes to the Ice Cavern, Sheik informs Link that Ruto is going to the Water Temple to try and save Zora's Domain. Link travels to the Water Temple, and finds out she has been captured. When Ruto is saved by Link, she awakens as the Water Sage. She realizes Link won't be marrying her, and marries another Zora.

Impa- Impa is the loyal protector of Princess Zelda, and one of the most respected sheikah of Hyrule. She serves Zelda with her life, even when she is off-duty. When Ganondorf attacked Hyrule, Impa helped Zelda escape, and they handed the Ocarina of Time to Link. Impa taught Zelda the ways of the sheikah, so she could hide herself from Ganondorf as "Sheik." When Link travels to the Shadow Temple, and defeats Bongo Bongo, Impa reveals herself as the Shadow Sage.

Nabooru- The 2nd in command of the Gerudo Tribe, Nabooru hated Ganondorf, and swore she would not work under such an evil being. With the Silver Gauntlets, Nabooru planned to defeat Ganondorf, as it would give her the needed strength. She allowed Young Link to crawl through the hole in the Spirit Temple to retrieve them, as she was too large. Koume and Kotake heard of her plans, and captured her. As the merged Twinrova, they were defeated by Link, and Nabooru was released as the Spirit Sage.

PS- I did not write this information. for more characters and to see the place i got it from go to http://www.zeldadungeon.net/Zelda05Characters.php

My favorite Sage would have to be Ruto. She had a nice personality and evolved from a brat back in Jabu-Jabu's belly to a very capable adult. She has shown herself to become a nice person and is my choice for Link's love interest. Plus she is very.... "favorable." *wink.*

I think I like Saria, because she was the most unassuming. Plus being Link's friend added an extra aspect. There's was always this feeling that no one from the Kokiri Village would get anywhere in the grander scheme of things, but then Link managed to escape there. Of course, he turned out to be Hylian, but I found it nice to see that Saria also managed to make something of herself and be a part of the big picture (even if it was her destiny, and not by her choice as if it was a job she applied for...)

I like Nabooru. To me, she came across as a person who doesn't like to wait around forever. Instead of thinking on what might happen, she decided to take action against ganondorf.

Even though people may call her a theif or maybe one of the anti-heroes in this story... I find her to be a courageous individual. (geez I sure hope I used this term in the right wayO.o) Aside from Midna and maybe Princess Zelda, she's one of the few females in this series that can "hold her own" during a fight.

I would have to say Saria. I just don't know why, but she's my favorite :-P

I'm gonna say Rauru, he had that whole father figure thing going on for Link.

My favourite is Darunia, I think that the Gorons are the coolest race out of all the races in Hyrule. Also it is pretty cool how he makes you his Brother and it is also cool when you find out he has called his Son after you

I would vote for Darunia or Nabooru. Darunia is a courageous "man" and also quite fun and passionate, he´s an interesting character in many ways. Nabooru is a sage that I also like very much, to sad she was not a "bigger" part of the game, she´s really something ;)

Hmm, I've changed my mind many times on this subject. But currently, I'd have to say Ruto. Her character provided some comical moments both in the past and future, and I thought the whole "take this stone and you have to marry me" thing was a great addition to OoT's little story. Put in the fact that the Zora's are just plain awesome, and Ruto has to be my favorite.

That's exactly my thoughts, but Telma certainly isn't one to mess with either.
But anyway, the reasons stated by Lady_Yuna is why Nabooru is my favorite, plus with the little part where she gets kidnapped and brainwashed into an Iron Knuckle is a nice bit of story.

Impa, I cannot really give awesome reasons to like her, I just do. She always seemed to understand perfectly what was going on, and would act on her own. Taking Zelda to prevent Ganondorf to get to her. After that, going to their village to investigate on her own.

My favorite sage was Rauru, he was very cooperative :P

Although I must express my hatred for the very non-canon Twiligt Princess sages.

HAS TO BE DARUNIA! he looks so cool with all his tatoos and the fact he is so massive. i also love the fact he tries to take on the dragon. and when he dances, other that the kind zora bum shift. this was the most hilarious part of the game!

my favorite sage is Saria. I was stuck in the forest for a while when i first got OoT. She reminds me of the good 'ole Kokiri forest:D

Darunia, because he was big, strong, tough and he had dance moves.

This! Not to mention that she is a sexy, sexy woman.
I also kinda linked Saria because she is very cute and gentle, but is kinda meh.
You could put up a poll, imo

Saria or Rauru.
Saria simply was one of my favorites for a long time, and Rauru's "mysteriousness" allows me to build up his character for a slight bit when I use him for my fanfictions.

I love Zoras and Princess Ruto :D and I love Gerudo Fortress and especially it's music!!! :D

Nabooru would be my favorite out of all the sages. I liked how she was willing to go up against Ganondorf when no one else from her people expressed this desire.

I'm not sure if this would count as being canon or not, but in the OoT manga she was pretty cool in how she was able to hold her own against Link until he removed what was brainwashing her. She then helped him escape from her tribe afterwards. Nabooru's awesome! :)

Darunia. He obviously has some of the best dance moves ever created, he knows when the people are in trouble and will kick a dragon's *** if he has too, even though it'll probably eat him, and wouldn't you love to have him as a father? ....or something.

Durion
08-20-2009, 10:19 PM
I agree with Josh, Darunia was an awesome Sage, I just loved everything about him, He has Epic dance moves and he makes you his brother which is cool. He also is helped by the fact that Gorons are my favourite race in the Zelda series.

Come on, He makes you his brother than names his son after you, Whats more awesome than that?

Agree with Knowlee
Nabooru is my favorite. I like the way a bad Gerudo thief come up with messing Ganondorf's plans! I Like the Gerudo.

@DarkLink: If he call me his sister or something okay. xD But not Brother or Son D:

I have to say: Rauru

He is a mysterious person and that's about it!

Actually, I hesitated a bit between him and Saria. ...and Darunia is cool too. :goron:

I like Nabooru because she's awsome. Anyway, in my little fan-fiction I made up another light sage called Stella. She's replacing Rauru cause he's retired.

I have to say Ruto. Shes so pretty. Saria is my 2nd.

Hmm...my favourite would either be Zelda (the 7th sage) or Nabooru. Zelda because she has a heavy weight to carry -- she is largely responsible for the whole thing happening, and yet she carries on with her duties and does them well, even, in the future (this is if you believe the split timeline theory), saying goodbye forever to the only person who believed her (and possibly who she loved, if you think of it that way). Nabooru because she's the leader (well, second-in-command, but she's had to lead since Ganondorf kinda went mad with power) of the coolest race ever, the Gerudos. She's an awesome thief, but she still has a heart.

Darunia's good too, if only for his epic dance moves. And Ruto, simply for being outright nuts about Link.

Yes, I like Nabooru too. She does seem more like an anti-hero than the rest of them and I feel like she's being a sage not only because she knows it's the right thing to do, but because it has something in it for her.

Probably Zelda then Nabooru. She seems like somone one fun to hang out with cause shes not uptight or anything

For me, it is a tie between two.

Saria - I love her because she is adorable. She is sweet and innocent - a true spirit of the forest, and, of course, you meet her early on as Link's best friend. While Mido bullied him, Saria stuck by him. She was so glad to see him get his fairy and was so sad when he left the forest... She's just a sweetie and just the kind of person I would have liked for a friend as a kid, heck, I'd even like her for a friend as an adult.

Impa - I like her because she is a strong person with an abundance of honor. She is a classic guardian, focused upon her charge and I love such characters (I use them extensively in my original fantasy writing). She has someone she's devoted to (Zelda) and for whom she'd give her life. Impa is Supernanny. I also favor her Temple/Sage alignment, "Shadow." Shadows are dark and myserious - something I've always favored. My online handle is a derivative of the word "shadow."

My favorite sage was Rauru, he was very cooperative :P

Although I must express my hatred for the very non-canon Twiligt Princess sages.

Why are they "non-canon" I must ask? They're in a canon game, therefore they are canon. Now, I'll agree that they're as weird as all get-out and not cool like the OoT or WW Sages, but if they're a part of a canonical game, they are canonical, end of story. They probably are not the same people as the OoT sages because of Timeline weirdness or maybe Sages taking retirment/dying/moving on to the heavens.

If I called things I didn't like in the Zelda game "non-canon" at whim, well... Tingle would be non-canon. But I don't do that. Just because you do not *like* a game or an aspect of an official-made-by-Nintendo Zelda game doesn't mean that it is non-canon.

Sorry, I'm sort of a stickler for this kind of stuff - being a fan fiction writer and dealing with other fan fiction writers who have been prone to call things "canon" or "non-canon" at personal whim and confuse newcomers to the different fandoms I've been in.

My favorite sage in OoT was Saria, the Sage of Forest. Partly because my favorite color is green, partly because the Forest Temple was my favorite dungeon in OoT, and partly because Saria was one of my favorite characters overall in OoT.

Saria also makes you your first ocarina, and I always thought that was special. In fact I was a little dissapointed that I had to use the Ocarina of Time later on instead of the one Saira gives you.

I've never been fond of Ruto because she is crazy. xD But I do love Nabooru, too, Lonely_Moon. Well said. She is indeed cool. ^.^ I also love Saria because she's been with Link since he was a kid.

Either Nabooru, Ruto or Darunia. I love them all. Maybe just little tiny bit turning for Nabooru..

Its a tie between Ruto and Nabooru.
One of the reasons is because i love anything water and desert related.

Reason i like Ruto is because she is kind of funny and also tells you not tp worry about Zelda and that she is fine and well.
I also like how she tells you that the spiritual stone its like an engagement ring between both of you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why i like Nabooru is because of how she looks with what she wears.
That she does not like Ganon.
And thefact she is just a girl but commands a lot of respect amongst the Gerdo.

Darunia for sure. He is one of my favorite characters period. I love the Gorons and I found him to be a character who had both humorous moments like after you beat Dodongo's Cavern and very serious moments. It was a good balance and I thought it was really cool when he named his son after Link. I was a little sad when he became sage because that meant you couldn't talk to him anymore.

You get to know Saria the most during the game, so I guess her. She seems the most good-natured and innocent of the Sages. Plus as a child I kinda had a crush on her.

Nabooru! She seems like one of those tough women who knows what she's doing. She also has the audacity to stand up against Ganondorf.

Ruto or Nabooru. I don't know what it is with me and liking girl characters the most in games, but they always have the best personalities. You get to see Ruto go from a bratty obsessive kid to a mature kind responsible independent sage. Nabooru, is just cool. Plus she is a bit of a chatter box, which is funny considering Link doesn't talk.

I can't even understand I ever missed this thread D:

My fav saga will be Saria. Why? Because not only she is cute but she is wise and she cares. She knows Link would leave someday and she decided to help him on his journey. All this time she has been faithful and loyal and she seems to be the caring and mom/sister figure out of all Kokiri.

Second one would be Nabooru. I mean do I have to say more? She knew and sensed Ganondorf was extremely evil and she helped Link. She stood up against Ganondorf instead of waiting till he would fall. She is a very cool personality.

Ruto for sure. She had the best character development. She was a brat and wanted nothing but the stone in Jabu-Jabu's belly. But after the water temple (my favorite OoT temple) she showed how much she grew. And the sora are awesome people. Easily my favorite Zelda race.

saria. she was the cutest of them all. she has the most contact with link with sarias song, and shes the first human(oid) you meet.

Impa is pretty human to me. More than saria.

of all the sages i always liked impa the best because she looked the coolest and was the most mysterious as she had the least character development! (except maybe nabooru but you still see her character grow and know quiet a lot about her and her race. impa and the sheikah are a bit of a mystery!

i know you never asked but my least favouite is ruto! just a little too obsessed with link for me! :D

My favorite sage would have to be Rauru.

He is the only sage who really looks like a sage.
Seriously, he is wearing official sage robes and he is old, which makes him look like a real sage.

All of the others seem not right for the job of a sage.

Darunia for me.

Darunia was the only Goron character who was serious and cool. The Gorons in general were pretty goofy in Ocarina of Time. He was funny when he danced, but after that he was involved in some of the grittiest and more dire parts of the story. The Gorons were facing imminent death at the hands of Volvagia, and Darunia went to fight him. Him swearing brotherhood with Link made him awesome, and there was just a lot of things with Darunia I liked.

I actually would like them to expand the stories and scenes with the Sages (including Darunia) a bit more in OoT 3DS, because they were kind of shoved to the side pretty quickly.

Darunia. Elder of the Gorons, fearless friend, and all-around nice guy. Very few mess with the Gorons and get away with it when "Big Brother" is around. He is just plain awesome.
