Deku Tree in MM?

Hey guys I was playing Majora's Mask the other day when I realized something.
At the very beginning of the game when your a deku and haven't even gotten to clock town yet, you pass by a small tree with a face. If you press A near it it will just say: ..................................

Then at the end of the game when you see the credits the king deku is kneeling before it. Could it be that it's the mini deku tree from Ocarina of Time?

That was actually the Deku Butler, and that was his son he was staring at. He was cursed by Skull Kid, while wearing Majora's Mask.

Guess the question was answered then. But I have one more. When Link was riding through the "woods" in the very beginning of the game. Had he already "reached" Termina or did he do so through the clocktower?

It was when he fell through that hole he entered Termina. Notice the symbols and stuff as he was falling down. But I think the dimensions split when he entered the Clock Tower.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it was when Link fell down the giant abyss while chasing the Skull Kid, and that's when he entered Termina. Termina is supposed to be some sort of different dimension, and I think it makes the most sense that it was the abyss that brought him there.

I think he reaches termina when he falls through that tree....the moment he lands he is in termina IMO. As for the butler/son thing, I had completely forgotten about it....that is one of the most sad and creepy momens in any zelda game ever!!! Skull Kid has got to be one of the most evil villians in the zelda universe....perhaps even more than Ganon, because with ganon we don't see people like....REALLY affected with what he's done....but that butler looks so sad having lost his son,....and the guy from the wedding mask quest...the one that was transformed into a kid....skullkid's own story too....and the girl with his dad who became a zombie or something...that part is also very sad....MM is one hell of a game....so creepy and many sad stories.....

I forgot all about the deku butler. So I guess they didn't show the king twice in the credits. But when did it say it was the butlers son?

Oh and by the way, if I remember correctly, the Deku Butler tells you about his son after you do the race for the Mask of Scents. It's only speculation that the Deku he was staring at in the credits was his son.

huh...I don't think it's speculation...when you "talk" to the tree, tatl or tael or w/e her name is tells you that it has such a sad look or somthing like that.....then we get the story from the butler....and at the end he is almos crying next to that misterious tree.....I think it is pretty obvious that the deku is his son

Well yes, but it was never flat-out stated that it was his son. So until we get official confirmation that it is, it technically would be speculation.

I agree with Swiftblade that the Deku tree at the beginning is only inferred to be the Butler's son.
But there are two possibilities of how link got to Termina. First is when he falls and all the images flash by. The second would be the twisted corridor after passing the Deku tree. But more than likely it would be the first one.

He acualy is in Teraminia the entry to Teraminia was when link falls into the hole.

Keep in mind, none of this is the Skull Kid's doing. It's the mask, not him. ;)

Many people believe that Link entered Termina when he fell down that weird hole. Since the tree is encountered after that, it would place the tree in Termina.


Anyway, the concepts that the tree is the Deku Butler's son and that Link entered Termina when he fell down the "abyss" are both not proven. However, they are both very strongly suggested and make a lot of sense. If those things aren't true, then those two aspects of the game make little to no sense, actually. That's why I believe both to be true.

Well the butler stated that his son went on a journey.
And he discovers at the end that his son is dead. you can see him on his kness crying.

And about the portal, i also believe that the portal is actually when he fell down and all those strange figures of masks appeared.

I think that when you fall into the hole you get to a dimension that is neither Hyrule or Termina but a kind of ''gateway'' with no time going just being there is Skull kids doing, right? That means that the ''gateway'' I called it is made for traveling between Hyrule and Termina two alternate dimensions. But you cant go back to Hyrule cause the ''gateway'' is not made for beings like Link that cannot fly or floats in the air and Hyrule is over Termina because you fall down and get to Termina..maybe its like ''heaven and hell''? I mean like skull kid(Majora) is the ''devil'', thats what I think.. XD
The tree that is probarly his son I havent got to that part in MM yet! XD Im really in the beggining, haha! But if you read the manga they have quiet a interisting theori Im gonna stick with ''When Link puts on all the masks he gets the power of someone lost'' for example the deku mask carries the butlers son's spirit/form and goron mask Darmani's spirit/body and same with Mikaeu. That makes sense, right?

I never noticed that was the Deku Butler looking at him until now. I never knew what that cursed Deku meant either. If you beat the game without the mask of scent it should show the mask floating where the scene should be. I remember the Butler saying he would always play the racing game in the Shrine with his son.

As for the portal part, I think it was after the hole with the images in it. I think that because the hole was inside a tree in the Lost Woods. The Lost Woods is in Hyrule. Or everything from the top of the hole to the end of the twisting path could be neither. It links them together.

I think that it could be a different version of the Deku tree, Deku's kinda look like acorns to me and what happens when you plant an acorn? You get a tree, so it could be possible that when Dekus die, they become Deku trees... Well, that's what I think anyways, I'm still a bit of a noob in Zelda.

What about the flute boy in ALttP? He turns into a tree a it like the dekusprout...

I think that it is safe to "assume" that one possible entrance to Termina was the tree link fell into. It may have been that there was a portal there or that there are others portals; or maybe that Skull Kid made the portal though that is even more unlikely. Who knows? but everything before that is certainly part of hyrule. we can tell from the flying lights in the first cut-scenes and the first few stages of game play which resemble those found only in the Kokiri Forests and in some areas of the Lost Woods (in OoT). The spiraling corridor was in my opinion a time shift, bringing Link into Clock Town and the lands current Three Day cycle of events. Plus they had already done the spiraling corridor in OoT so it wasn't to hard to throw in there.

Allot of People think its the Dekus Butler son.The butler even said that you remind him of his son.The butler says that his son went to do something I cant remember what he was doing and he said that he never came back.Allot of people think that his son came across Skull kid and cursed him.That tree you see might be his son.I think this could be true as you could see the butler knelling down crying.

I think that leaving the clock tower is when the dimensions split. Termina has 3 days left, and there's no timer in the clock tower.
