View Full Version : Am I the Only Person?

Recently it seems to have come to my attention that I'm the only person I know who listens to any Alice Cooper at all. Come on, guys, he might be old, but he basically invented the genre of death rock. Sure, he's not what made it what it is today, but I think he really inspired it.
I'm a big fan of Alice Cooper, but most of the people I talk to don't know who he is, and the others say, "Isn't he just a DJ on the classic rock station?" Well, yes, he is a DJ on the classic rock station here, but he was also a great musician for years before that, and even now! In fact, he just released a new CD last year.
So am I really the only person who listens to Alice Cooper? And am I the only person who's heard anything more than the songs in Guitar Hero 2 and 3? Can anybody else name three of his songs without saying "School's Out?"
Somebody give me an answer!

I don't like shock rockers in general, but Alice Cooper's something special because he writes genuinely good material. I'm not completely familiar with him, but I like his earlier material (70's) especially.
"Welcome to my Nightmare" on the whole isn't a bad album. "Only Women Bleed" is a good ballad as well, probably one of my favorite songs by him. Then again, this is probably proof I just know the popular, older stuff. "Cold Ethyl" is another good song, though I think it's less popular. I hadn't heard either in awhile upon writing this topic (I'm now listening to them), even though I remember liking them...amazing how good his classic material is! I like some of his newer stuff ("Love's a Loaded Gun") as well, but mostly just know what's popular.
As far as shock rock is concerned, his tactics look a little corny by today's standards. In an awesome way! XD Given his influence and the quality of his music, I'd be surprised if no one here ever heard of him. I've never played any of the Guitar Hero games and I'm still somewhat familiar with his music.

It is kind of a surprise I don't recall hearing any of his stuff on the classic rock station I listen to outside of "School Out". Which is weird considering the large amount of variety they play from others like Queen, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Rush, etc. Maybe I'm just listening at the wrong times.

Wasn't he a musician on the Blues Brothers? If he was, then yeah I've heard him, and since I love the Blues Brothers, I like him.
