View Full Version : Link's Father

I have been playing TP lately and one particular character has caught my eye. Most notably the Hero's Spirit who teaches you new sword skills. He is obviously a long deceased Hero but he seems to be someone related to Link who is currently a legendary Hero chosen by the gods. Throughout the game he makes quotes that are very odd such as:

"Go and do not falter, my child!"

Most would say "Every master says that to their pupil." but what master says this quote along with that:

"At last, the skills I have to teach you have entered the realm of true secrecy. They are forgotten ways that do not leave our bloodline."

I believe that if this spirit is related to Link through a father and son relationship perhaps I believe him to be OOT Link, whom has now grown up and died. Although the armor is different he seems to know a great deal of Hyrule's past:

"Although I accepted life as the hero, I could not convey the lessons of that life to those that came after. At last, I have eased my regrets."

So he was a Hero in the past eh. Although it is not concrete evidence, it's enough to poke a finger at.

Interesting theory...and as hinted at in ALttP and OoT Link's father served duty for Hyrule as a knight.

I believe we have a thread about this. Yes, the Hero's Spirit is the Hero of Time... Supposedly. I don't have the link on me right now.

This is fairly widely accepted on ZU. Nothing that new. But congrats on refinding it, I guess...

I searched, there isn't one. The only one that possibly looks like it is called "Link's Parents" but I am talking about a specific Link.

interesting...it could be very possible considering there's also a connection between OoT and WW, and crap, it just spoiled that for me....I really need to play TP >.<

Ok. Maybe I was mistaken. I do apologize. Anyway, it's mostly accepted that the "Hero's Shade" or "Hero's Spirit" is the Hero of Time, who is supposedly Link's father. The Link in TP's father.

I definately think this is possible. I never noticed it before, but it makes perfect sense.

Good find!:D

I believe the Hero's Spirit is Link's ancestor and very possibly Link from OoT, but not his father. I think a lot more time then that passed between OoT and TP.

I don't think much time passes between OoT and TP at all. The developers said it was approx 100 years, but you could place it even closer - assuming that the Sages that killed Ganondorf had caught him stealing the Triforce with the help of Zelda and Link. (In my opinion, this is most likely.)

So, logically, the Hero's Shade would be OoT Link.

Also, there is the fact of how Ganondorf is alive while Link and Zelda aren't. I would say that the time has only past by a say 50-60 years. Ganondorf appears much older than he did in OOT (child era) although the fact that he remained alive in Aribiter Grounds brings up another question.

Why is Ganondorf alive and not our heroes?

Aribiter Grounds should be smitereens if he had the Triforce through the entire time. But this is a topic for another thread.

Yeah, that's what I always thought. Or it could be that the hero's schade was TP Link's grandfather. Either this or that. Take your pick.>.>

it could be majoras mask link because he has the gilded sword and the mirror shield

What?

Anyways, it's either his father or a direct, ancient ancestor...
Wich could mean that TP Link is a direct descendant of OoT Link.

I do believe that you are correct...partially, I'll explain why....

The reason being is that there is 100 years between the events of TP and OoT, Link is roughly 17 in TP if I remember correctly meaning that TP Link was born 83 years after the event of OoT.

Therefore OoT Link would most likely have died well before then but it is most likely they are related, Maybe he Grandfather or Great Grandfather depending on that times life expectancy.

There used to be one a long time ago that I started asking roughly the same question but with a bit less evidence. :P

The response back then was that when he refers to link as "My child" as a term of endearment perhaps, rather than an actual title.
I wouldn't go as far as saying that he was the Hero of Time, but rather if he was TP Link's father, I'd say that he was perhaps a powerful, well-known and revered knight. It just would seem too unlikely to be OOT Link. However, I do believe that this knight could very well be TP Link's father.

It's actually rather simple the heros shade is the link from oot/mm and twilight princess link is the heros shade's successor so the whole keep our bloodline true thing so that is explained and the whole go and do not falter my child part is simply the heros shade referring to twilight princess link as his pupil.
