How healthy do you think playing the Wii is? You know, like Wii sports or any other physical games. I think it is healthy, but not the healthiest thing in the world, duh. What is your opinion?

I guess it depends on what game your playing and if you get into it that determines if it is healthy or not. Overall, I think it is healthy.

Oh, healthy as in for people. Well since the Wii has some games that promote physical activity of some sort, a lot more than the other ones.

Needless to say the Wii is healthy among gaming systems. It's the only one the really gets you up and moving, as apposed to sitting on the couch with a controller, in the same position for three hours.

I think the wii has more non healthy games than healthy games, but it is the only system with games that are actually healthy. (Except for DDR)

Of course some Wii games are healthy.

Wii Fit, Wii Sports, just to name a few.

The wii has some healthy games, but I don't have any of them. So I still sit in my chair moving the controller a bit. That's why I vote that the wii is not healthy for me :p

So i say yes.

The only 'healthy' game I own is Wii Sports, and I think I usually play that sitting down. I don't know why, 'cause it's easier to play standing up.
Either way, it's definately more 'healthy' than other gaming systems for sure.

I think they are helthy (except for SSBB). You don't move around for some. It all depends on the game you are playing.

Like many people stated, it's much healthier than sitting on your couch with a controller in your hand for 3 hours, the Wii gets you moving.

Either way, it's definately more 'healthy' than other gaming systems for sure.

... but that doesn't mean it's really healthy. Comparing it to Xbox360, it's healthy for sure, but comparing it to a real physical activity like soccer, running, dancing, climbing, football, whatever, it's just awkward. You wont become slim with Wii Fit, you wont make muscles by shaking a controller.

Honestly, small wrist movements (which is all thats required for most wii games) aren't a huge improvement over the previous control method, so its not very healthy compared to actual exercise.

Hense me having the word in quotation marks. I know it's not going to do anything. lol

Itīs somewhat a joke to call it healthy in my opinion, guess it depends on what game yore playing and which style you might use. But if excercise is your thing jogging, swimming, going to the gym etc. would be a better deal!

(this was a good post but donīt start calling me overgod for such a thing)

Im not fat.. Im slightly.. uhh... I forgot that word.. hadicaped? so no.. not healthy.. insualting ><

But really.. I guess it depends on how much you play games like wii tennis or Wiifit.

So I vote no.

...well, all of this is fine by me. I just wanted to know if you thought it was healthy in any sense. And now I have my answer. Mostly. Thanks!

Yeah, it's supposed to be healthier than most consoles, but to me it's not.
I always sit down on the couch and play, I don't need to stand up to swing a bat.
I was playing Super Mario Bros (VC) on the Wii the other day, and my mom comes in and says, "Why aren't you standing up?" So yeah..
Explains the IQ of my parents.
But yeah, I understand how some games like Wii fit can get you movin a little.

There's this thing called outside, too :P

And uh sure. Some Wii games are "healthy", like Wii Fit and most sports titles.

It's as healthy as videogames ever have been.

Which isn't healthy at all.

WiiFit is as close as it gets to healthy, and even at that, it would be so much more beneficial to just go outside.

it kinda depends on which games you play i spose. games like wii fit and wii sports are good but games where you have to shoot and punch and things like that arnt as good because you dont do much stuff except shoot and stuff.

Yes, it does change on the game you place, as stated above, but yes, I do think the Wii is healthy, even though I haven't played it very much.
Some things can really get you moving, as other games just leave you sitting down pressing buttons (not much of an excersize, eh?), overall it's pretty good, but there is a thing called "outside", which is far more healthier.

I think that the Wii can be healthy for people.
I've heard stories of it helping old people.
But I don't think it replaces going to the gym and working out.

I think it's healthy But for exercising. Mostly because of Wii sports and the blance bored. But thats just me personally.:)

If you ask me, its not the best fourm of physical activity, but it is apperently alot funner and im sure even with games on the wii, you move arround alot more so I guess your doing more "activity" if you want to call it, instead of just sitting arround staring at the screen. I personaly have never tried Wii Fit, but ive heard many great things. But as far as video games, Wii makes you most active.

I actually hate playing on the Wii. It's a complete waste of time. When I first played on the Wii I thought it was fun and great, but no I was horribly wrong. When I first played on the Wii, just sitting down on my butt doing nothing but move my fingers, I gained 10 pound's and was getting chubby like. Once I realized what the Wii was doing to me I said this ain't working out. I started playing less and less on the Wii and I improved more on my games.

I know, what is this chick rambling about but just hear me out. I think that all electronic's are bad for you. All that it does is make you more interested into playing games than just go out and play or hang out with friends. Most kids get hooked on the Wii and it probably causes you not to do your school work. I'm not saying everyone but most kids do. The Wii is a absolutely waste of time and money. I just think that everyone would be better off without the Wii, it just makes you fat. :P Reason why I say that is because most kids and most teenagers are lazy and don't exercise. Most kids don't even buy some of the "exercise games". The Wii will cause you to be lazy and fat. But that is just my opinion.

Well, it depends entirely on how you use it, too. If you monitor your game time, then it shouldn't be an issue. And that can be said about all game consoles, not just the Wii. With all due respect, to generalize and say that everyone will get fat and lazy playing it is unfair ;). I do agree that most kids and teenagers do not exercise and can be lazy, but to blame the Wii is ridiculous. Frankly, I think there we should place the blame on society as a whole, but that's an entirely different story. The Wii itself is most definitely not blame. As I said, so long as people are monitoring their game time and aren't spending a ridiculous amount of time on it, they should be fine - especially if they do engage in other activities.

However, some of the exercise games aren't nearly as good a workout as they claim to be. I love the WiiFit, but not because it's a work out. It's FUN, but it's a far cry from a really hard work out. Actually, the best work out "game" I've ever played isn't even a Wii game - Your Shape: Fitness Evolved for the Kinect. And even then, it's probably still not as good as getting up and lifting weights and going for a run.

The wii was designed to be healthier than most gaming consoles, and it sort of worked. Now it's only useful for playing TP with sword swinging imo...
I find the idea of making video games more active/healthy pointless because it is just as foolish as doing the opposite-making sports more fantasy/video game like. <.<

I think it's better than doing nothing, but obviously it's not the best. Wii Fit Plus doesn't really do much, considering all it reads is your balance. But it's a start. It gets people moving, and I think that's better than just sitting on the couch.

I think it really depends on the game your playing. Are you sitting on the couch playing mario kart or are you getting exercise playing wii fit. I personally think Skyward Sword will be in the healthy category because of the motion controls.

It really depends on the game. Say you are playing a dance game (Just Dance), a sports game (Wii Sports), or a fitness game (Wii Fit+). Then that's definitely healthy. Pretty good exercise too! But say you play a game like Super Mario Galaxy, or Super Smash Bros Brawl, one of those that you just use a controller, t's like any other system. You can get an XBOX with Kinect, and you work yourself up to a sweat, then you can play halo, and you'll be sitting there doing nothing. It completely depends on the game.
