What are your favorite names? A name you wished you had growing up, a name you'd give to a future child, or even a future pet? List your favorite names, and for what that name would apply to, anything can apply - even a name for a future car if you are into that. ^^
When I was growing up, I wanted my parents to name me Desiree.
If I were to ever have a child, I would name them Evelyn Sofia and/or Nora Vera*.
When I can get a dog (I'm hoping a Shih Tzu, Papillon, or Lhasa Apso.. they are precious), I want to name him either Voltaire or her Curie.
*I only know of female names I like, I always thought those names were so pretty. But boys names can't be pretty or they are taunted through life.
I wish some people actually had the name Claire Bear Dragon or Bucket. :P
Other than that, I'm a simple kind of guy, which is why I just like names like Joshua (of course) and John.

The major downfall with simple names, are many of them are common names. From what you are saying, it sounds like you are more into names such as Sarah and Paul. I mean, I do not know how many girls I've met named Ashley, Nicole, and Kara - or boys named John, Cody, or Shawn. I have an easier time remembering someone with a less common name, such as Hayden, Nico, and Maxana.

I will feel sorry for your children to know what torment they will suffer in school and the years after. I am completely truthful.
Anyway, Wyatt is like my favorite name because it's my name.
Vladimir too, even though it's Russian. It's an awesome name.

How would you feel sorry for them? Evelyn and Nora aren't crazy names, nor are they that uncommon. Evelyn was the 55th, and Nora was the 242nd most common name given to a baby girl in 2007.

I wonder how many other people share your idea. Last I checked it is more interesting to have a unique name then one everyone else has.

I quote "share this idea" unquote.
I vote you name your kid Miller Lite.

I always wished my name was Mark.
It's short, simple, and not weird at all.

The only name I'm interested in is giving a future son is Brett, after my best friend who passed away in elementary school.

Aw, that's nice of you. My sister's daughter is named after my little sister who passed away - and her middle name after our grandpa and the father's grandma (Rae June). When it comes time for a little brother or sister, the name picked for a sister will be Casey Anne - since my sister's friend recently passed away in an automobile accident.
That is also why I like the name Vera, because it is my great grandmother's first name.

Liam is by far my favorite name for a boy, or Colin. I think Liam Nelson is a nice name. :)
I can't help my love for Irish names!

My favourite girls' names are Dawn, Natasha, Renee, Rayne and Carrie.
Boys' names would probably be Matthew, Lee and Xavier.
I prefer uncommon names to common ones, but giving someone an unusual name is really risky because you don't know how people are going to react. Will they like it or make fun of it?

I love pretty names. As a child, I really wanted to name my kids Jade, Arianna, or Tanya. Not sure what Caleb thinks of those though. And like Claire, I totally have no boys names picked out!
But I totally agree with the weird names thing. I love those names ^ but I don't know that they aren't safe from being weird. But common names are rather dull. My name, Michelle, is super common and I've known tons of people with my name. So I'd like to pick names that are different, but not torturous.

For boys names, I've always really liked the name Francis. Mostly because of St. Francis of Assisi, who I've admired very much. Other than that, I also like Roy, Mathew, and John.
As for girls names, maybe Lucia (great grandmother's name), Marie, or Claire.

I do have a lot of names I like, though I really like my name (Owen) and never really wanted to change it.
Favorite male names: Lester, Loki, Seth, Aaron, Osborne, Alister, Vincent, Ulric, Griffin, Jericho...
Favorite female names: Beatrice, Lilly, Kanna, Sakura, Sera, Celeste, Gwendolyn, Sherise, Eliza, Faye...
Though Beatrice is my all-time favorite name. Period. Followed by Lester and Loki.
There could easily be others I'm not thinking of.

Heh, glad you like them. ^^
Ooh, neat. I say cherish having someone you know who has a cool name; you get to say it often. :xd:
I tend to notice neat or unusual names since I'm writer, and more so, a fantasy writer. I didn't list it earlier, but I also love the name "Lucifer" (I didn't list it because of what it means to most people... >_< )

In this thread some nice names have popped up. Lenora, Amelie and Epona are all very beautiful names on a girl/woman/horse etc. Chris is a male name I like, it is the name of my best friend so it has importance to me. I like a lot of names and it is for me impossible to chose just one or two. My name is Jimmy and I also like that, would never change it!

I'm not too fond of my name, because a lot of people ask "is that your real name? Cool, I'm so jealous!" It gets annoying after a while. It's not that uncommon of a name... By the way... I just found that it means Conquering. Ha! That's cool... I kind of like it now.
As for names for future children... I haven't really thought about it. Since I'm a guy and all... that's not really something we think about.... *looks at name websites* Uhh... Hmm well.... I gave the Italian section a look through, and for a boy Gino sounds pretty cool. For a girl... I guess Lucette seems like a good name. I picked Italian to give something back to my heritage, and because I also have an Italian name...

It's my brothers name, and was my grandpa's name. It means alot to keep it around.
Other names I like are Marc, Barker, Francisco, and Edan ( ee-den)

I would rename myself Takeshi Satoshi. I find them more fitting than my real name, and it's my favorite. XD Also If I have another pet besides my cat Hikari and pet Dog Sakura, I'd name a girl parrot, Kurenai or a boy parrot Sakamoto. ^_^
I'm not sure what to name my kids though, I'll leave that thought for later when i have children.

I'm not fond of common names at all. Names like:
Jennifer, Justin, Mark, Brad, Michael, Katelyn, Christine, Kayla, Brandon, Eric, Tanya, Laura, Peter, etc etc etc....
I find them all so boring and ugly and just well... plain. I find that a lot of people with plain names are often plain people. Not saying it's always the case, but it's something I've noticed a lot. I don't like my own name, either, but I'm waiting until I get married to change it (get the whole name done at one time).
I really like:
Alejandro/Alejand(i)a, Alasdair, Axel, Aiden, Gabriel/Gabrielle, Shea, Tristan, Arturia, Dante, Graham, Ishmael, Aramis, Roan, Shannon, Circe, Piper, Orion, Jadiel, Aarav

I'm not very fond of my name (Kayla). I'd much rather be called Sedona, or at least call a daughter (if I ever have one) Sedona. It's such a beautiful name. I got it from Sedona, Arizona, the most beautiful place ever. :3

When(hopefully) I have kids I'd name them Vincent and Rhiannon assuming that my wife would allow me to name them just in case I name my children after comic book/video game characters.

(No offence meant to anyone) But personally, I really don't like it when girls are named after concepts, like Hope, Peace, Serenity, Harmony, Destiny, Justice, Fate, and also Autumn etc... it almost makes them seem like objects, not people. So despite my real name meaning "Innocent Sheep", I'm actually damn grateful my parents had the sense not to name me something like that ffff
It also bugs me when people think it's cool to use a common name that's spelt unusually, like say, Mayrie for Mary, or something. It just seems kinda lame.
So I love unusual and long names, but names that actually are NAMES... though actually Lily has to be one of my favourites. Idk why.
For boys, I like Adam and Daniel :3

Some people give their kids the most ridiculous names like Rain, Apple,Hope, Sky etc. I agree with the above post. I never want to give my possible kids weird names.
I'm happy with my name. I like it as it is :D
A name for a girl I always loved is Claudia. I also love the name Erica and Gina but Claudia is my most fav female name.
For a boy it would be: Eric, Kenny and Elijah
Atsuma

Hadn't I responded to this before? Maybe it was a similar thread.
I like Ao, Atsuma, Rad, Wasavi for boys. If girls, then Mikela, Lenneth, and several others.

Ao or Atsuma sounds very cool. But I also have the feeling I need to protect my windows if I named my son like this :P
