View Full Version : What Don't You Want To See In a Future Zelda Game

So what don't you want to see in a future zelda game?
I wouldn't like to see another annoying character that says "Hey! Hey! Listen":xd: I don't want to go though the experience again with Navi.
I also don't wanna see useless items. It is like we nearly waste all our items, nearly kill ourselves to get them.

Hm, I'm not sure if we have a topic like this or not, I can't find one, so I guess it's fine.
There's a couple of things I don't want to see in a future Zelda game.
- Rated M ESRB rating - As I've said before, I don't ever want to see Zelda reach rated M.
- Futuristic Zelda - I would not like a sci-fi Zelda. It would spell the end for the series. I mean Epona becoming a motorcycle? No thanks.
- Link talking - As many other fans feel, since Link has never talked before, I'm not sure he should in the future. Other voice-overs for tertiary or even secondary characters would be fine.
Those are the basics for me.
A M rating would ruin everything also Sci Fi would too.
Link talking would ruin the series and the whole Role Playing gaming aspect.

Link talking as said before.
M Rating.
Futuristic aspects.
Edit. Something else I wouldn't like to see is a 1st person Zelda game. I would still play it, but I would hope it would at least have an option between 3rd or 1st person.

Basically the same for me. All of those things would hurt the quality of the series in my opinion. But also, something else I hope never happens to a Zelda game: being in first person. I prefer 3rd person for all games, and something like Zelda would, I think, be devastated by a transition to first person.

I do not want to see another, over-helpful sidekick.
I am sick and tired of attempting to go through a game and someone shouting all the answers to me every single time. What fun is that? I want to think and solve the puzzles, and I want to find the locations for myself.
I do not want to see easy puzzles.
I want to become so frustrated from a puzzle that I develop a headache, thinking and trying different methods for hours. I want to think for myself, and not have another sidekick think for me.
I do not want a short game.
I want a game that takes me months to complete, that when you wake up in the morning thinking about the massive amount of trials and area in the game drive you to the point where you just have to pick up a controller and see if you can reach the end in 12 hours or more.
I want a game that is lengthy, difficult, and filled with puzzles. Is that too much to ask?

As stated previously, I would not like to see an M rated Zelda game, also as said, I think that that rating would sort of destroy some of the feel of Zelda.
I would not like a Zelda game that is easy and can be completed in a matter of hours or days. As Lenora said, I would like a game with challenging puzzles and the like, albeit large ones.
I would not like another character like Navi or Ceila. Both annoyed me, because they were always pointing out the obvious, and telling you everything you either already know, or could find out on your own. Navi did this much more, however I still didn't care for Ciela too much.
I would also not want to see items that have hardly any use, or are used once and that's it, there's no use for them. I would rather have items that you can discover other uses for them.

Really? I cannot even begin to imagine never coming across Ganon/Ganondorf in any shape or foam in the future. Whether that means fighting, or a simple little "Game Over" scene where you see his silhouette. To me, Ganon/Ganondorf is one of those characters, that if taken from the series, would absolutely change the series in a way that I cannot even begin to think of. To me, it would be like replacing Link.

I agree. Takeing Ganon out is like takeing Link out of the series. Or takeing Dracula from Castlevania.
I do not want first person view. Everyone else can talk as long as its not Link.. but I really dont mind if no one ever does.
Harder enemys.. and thats really it for me.. oh.. and no more AlttP rehashes.

Most of what I feel has already been mentioned, so I'll think of a couple other things.
1) A tiny Hyrule. True, Hyrule gets a little bigger each game, but I still think its woefully smaller then it should be. Zelda, at heart, is an exploration game. So give me lots of places to explore. I LOVE finding a new cave to look through, even if ultimately the cave has no treasures. That feeling of mystery before you enter it is something I always look forward to.
2) A complex story. You got your Final Fantasy in my Zelda! None of that, please. Hey, I like a good character-driven plot as much as the next guy, but some of the games today are so pretentious and over-written they border on literary masturbation. Keep it simple. Link is a courageous Hero, Zelda is the wise Princess, and there is a villain bent on conquering on Hyrule. Thats all I need, and want.

well i just read the latest update on the main page, and from what i read, one thing i definately do not want to see is some stupid 'hint' system thats basically a built-in 'strategy guide'...
zelda games are just fine the way they are, i dont want to see them becoming hand-holding games so simple that a braindead child could get through them!
im hoping they dont go putting any kinda 'hint system' into the next game, or i'll be mourning the death of zelda... making the games linear isnt gonna help anyone, only destroy the series...

As many other people said, I don't want to see:
- first person view
- small Hyrule
- easy dungeons
- an annoying companion that points everything out. (personally, I loved Navi, but it's annoying when she points things out constantly)
- futuristic or scientific world.
- any major character replacements. Link is the hero, Zelda is the princess, Ganondorf is the bad guy. Don't change anything about that, and don't make any side characters far more important to the plot than the main ones are. (cough*midna*cough)
- Link talking
- Another one of those games that you can beat within a week.
- NO MORE TINGLE.
- no easy bosses.
Some new things:
- ocean travel. (I hated Wind Waker, a lot)
- another small, uninteresting castle market. The market has always been all decoration and no interaction. Twilight Princess? You couldn't enter half the shops or talk to anyone. For once I want something with personality and not just a small decoration.
- simple sword slashing controls.
- mount-less travel. When Epona came into the series, she really hit it off with me. It's not the same without her. I don't want another Wind Waker fiasco.
- areas only reachable by cannon/minigame/someone warping you there. That REALLY ANNOYED ME in Twilight Princess.
- bomb arrows. Wtf man? fail. Magic arrows are so much better.
- towns with nothing in them. Twilight Princess: Kakariko, Ordon, & Castletown Market. There was nothing in them! I want something I can interact with, with side quests and plots and intriguing characters. Lots of buildings I can explore. Dynamic and complex. Remember Clock Town? Remember Ocarina of Time & Link to the Past Kakariko? Though they needed a lot of fixing up, they were on the right track.
- Time not passing in buildings. It's not realistic D:
- Stupid plot lines where your character transforms into something else and can't interact and explore the actual world until halfway through the game.
- townspeople with no back story. They just say one sentence over and over again and are there for decoration. Yeahno.
- cartoonie graphics. Keep it realistic, man.
There's more I'm sure I can think of, but that's about it. Recent Zelda games have really irked me.

-I don't really want another sidekick that's like "hey!!!, Listen!!!, watch out!!!!" what where they thinking when they created Navi.

I quite liked the sailing from WW and wouldn't mind it in a future Zelda. The only problem with it in WW is that it relied on the sailing too heavily, with very few large islands to explore.

Well, that's probably what you'll get. I doubt a Wii game could be played on another console, if they go all-out with the Wii capabilities. So they'll probably throw in a bunch of stuff they couldn't fit in anywhere else.
I'd rather have a "rehash", or more precisely, an "entry in the History of Hyrule". One of the reasons I didn't like MM is because it didn't feel like Zelda at all.
But the Wii is all about experimentation, so why not?

Lets see. Here is my list of no-nos.
-No game with a rating higher than teen. It took me weeks to tell my parents that Twilight Princess had no blood in it...
-No game that is a gore fest. I don't need to be puking over my controls.
-No game with futeristic stuff, such as the Master Dagger, a motorcycle named Epona, and an evil police cheif named Ganondorf.
-No game that is seriousally easy or gives you directions as how to complete the puzzle.
-No game with a cramped Overworld. Hey, I need space to explore.
-No game that seems non-canon. There are some strange ideas out there that just scream non-canon.
-No game that overexadurates the plot twist thing (TP did that ALOT. You have a lot of plot twists in Kakoriko Village in its own...).

I don't want Ganondorf anymore. I understand games like Mario where Bowser has become a villain who can't be taken seriously and is allowed to fail again and again so we can laugh at him.
But Ganondorf is a serious evil villain who we've seen to much of. His plans get boring and thus we need fresher villains like Majora.
lonely_moon
01-15-2009, 08:45 PM
You can't really omit Ganondorf from a Zelda game, unless they were going to do something similar to Majora's Mask. If there was no Ganondorf, it would break the Triforce link. Who would have the Triforce of Power then? I know they could just make a new villain, but I don't think it would be the same.
As for things I don't want in a new Zelda game, it's harder to think of things I don't want rather than things I do want, but here's my list:
No more characters acting super ridiculous without a good reason ~ Like Tingle. Or basically any character that flails and screams without being in pain. It's good to have funny characters (and I want them in a future game), but these types are just embarrassing to watch.
No G-rating ~ Wow. Judging by the previous posts, I'm going to be unpopular for saying this. I'm not asking for a bloodbath or a really adult storyline. I would just like a bit more realism and more complicated themes being explored in the story.
No Dead World ~ A real kingdom would be much bigger and would have more villages. Hyrule should feel like a living, breathing world. Also, a bigger overworld would mean more opportunities for exploration and for discovering secrets, which is the main aspect of the Zelda series, isn't it?
Recycling gameplay elements might be a problem, but if you take some of those away, it wouldn't be Zelda. Also, voice acting would be nice, but not really necessary. And voice acting in games is still a really risky move, so why take a chance when it works fine as it is?

Agreed with Lonely moon on the point of a non-dead world.
To be honest, I'd actually kind of like the next Zelda game to have a few elements of Oblivion in it, and this is one of them. Hyrule always either seemed far too small or there just wasn't enough in it. That's where Oblivion comes in. If you've ever played it, the world is gigantic, and there's villages and cities scattered throughout it with real average-citizen type people. That, is an element I would like to see in Zelda. It would make it seem so much more life-like.

I definitely want to see some things go, particularly the way they've been reducing areas to island and hubs and leaving much of the overworld to a blank sea or, in ST's case, the likely situation of a blank, untraversable overworld connected by tracks.
Another thing is the whole "I can jump high enough to grasp ledges three feet above my head but can't climb a 45+ degree incline" thing Link's had for a while. This is especially evident in PH, where small raised pieces of ground are as good as walls. Find ways to realistically portray boundaries, darn it!

I think developers should rid the world of Gohma and Dodongo. I know they're classic, and we've fought them many times with many different strategies, (though they're weaknessess are the same), but they are getting kind of old.
Another thing I want gone is Hyrule Catle. Allow me to explain. I want a game where Ganon becomes powerfull enough that he actually destroys Hyrule Castle. Like, in the beginning of the game have Link go see Zelda somehow in the Castle, and then after a few dungeons of Ganon/dorf raid it with an army of his minions and completely destroy it and leave it in utter ruin. And then not build his base in The Castle area, have it somewhere else. I think this would make the story much more interesting.
Lastly, I want them to leave out other Realms, and instead make Hyrule bigger. One of the things I liked about TP was that even though they had the Twilight Realm, they didn't reuse dungeons in the Overworld as dungeons in the TR. I didn't enjoy the small world in aLttP, and I won't enjoy it in Zelda Wii.

First of all i don't wan't useless items that we nearly kill ourselves to get. And second i would have a heart attack (not the good kind) if anotheer navi found it's way into another zelda game. Third no guns, no cars, no lasers, no tacos, no planes. Modern tech takes away from the magic of the zeldas. At the most i will except steam trains and steam boats.
these are the things i don,t want to see again!:
1-lack of enemies
2-loooooooong road to travel
3-a game that has no special 2nd quest (no, i don,t mean than TWW was a little boring to play again, same things are the same, that 2nd quest did not have something like: a new boss!!!! or something new! NEW!, what a complete letdown!)

I quite agree with that with my own opinions. What I don't want to see in a future zelda game is a main character that would replace Link. That would not be cool.

mostly you all cover it! NO Sci fi and no one shouting HEY YOU in the middle of the night!
Copy and paste this into your signature if you currently own at least 7 Zelda games and plans to get the rest of them! :):zelda::ganondorf: = :triforce:

NO- crappy lighting, like in TP, sure i loved the game, but the one thing that made me mad was how shiny the lighting made everything
NO- dead cities, i liked how in Oot almost every city was populated and your could explore evrywhere
YES- tingle- he could be like a comedic relief or an easter egg (eg. you see him falling off a cliff in the distance or something) but i dont want him to be part of the storyline. like one guy said, tingle belongs in hell, not hyrule.
YES- bigger maps, still waiting for a gigantic hyrule field that could be a game of its own
YES-other playable charactors. you should still play as link most of the time, but it would be nice to play as someone else for a change. but only for a little bit.
YES-way to change day to night instantly. i wasted enough time in TP in hyrule field waiting for the sun to rise.
YES- epic war part. hyrule knights (including link, who u played as) vs. ganons monsters. just like the part in metroid prime 3 where u had to go through a huge building with federation troopers

For those of you who hate Tingle so much, you should really be hating on Uncle Rupee- he's the freak that literally turns people into Tingles. It's just scary- a demon who runs on money that possesses people in order to get his hands on more.
Anyway, we definitely need a large, explorable overworld. I also agree with the lighting thing in TP- it worked in some places, but kind of grated as an aesthetic. Bringing back collectibles like Skulltulas that required lots of pointless backtracking is no fun, but a collectible series you could actually complete while playing through the game, so long as you explore, would be fun.
Don't get me wrong, if collection quests are too linear, they're no fun, but just something you can work on on the side while playing (and to encourage exploration) would be a nice addition.

- Guns.
- Modernized Hyrule.
- Realism.
- Voice actors.
- 1st person view.

I DO want Tingle back, but only as a killable character. Tingle will go to hell. And I will party.
When you said you wanted Tingle back I thought you liked him, but I'm glad I read the rest of your post:lol:. I do not want to see easy dungeons, bosses, or puzzles, no Tingle, no useless items, NO TINGLE, no short games, and last but not least NO TINGLE (I cannot stress this enough).

- Rated M ESRB rating - As I've said before, I don't ever want to see Zelda reach rated M.
- Futuristic Zelda - I would not like a sci-fi Zelda. It would spell the end for the series. I mean Epona becoming a motorcycle? No thanks.

I pretty much agree with this.
Zelda rated M would more or less likely mean the addition of more gore and innuendos, both of which the franchise doesn't need. It's fine the way it is, with E-T ratings, in my opinion, and that really shouldn't change. It's aimed for all ages, isn't it?
Now, Link shouldn't talk either, that's a given. He's always been mute. It's a characterisic of his that many would hate to see go away. I think VA itself could work, as long as Link doesn't talk.
Futuristic Zelda is a little iffy, though. Sci-Fi should just steer clear of Zelda, I agree, but "futuristic" doesn't necessarily always mean "space age", either, though the term implies it. As we all know, TWW has taken a turn for technological advances. The engine in PH, and now the train and ST prove that. It could very well reach more advanced technology if this keeps up. This could be considered "futuristic" as well, and may work for the series, if Nintendo choose to make it not go too far. No motorbikes, no space ships, nothing of the sort should ever come into a game like Zelda.
Another thing I don't want to see are useless items. The Slingshot in TP is my primary example here. You got it, used it a few select times, and got it replaced with the Bow and Arrow. Jeez, wasn't that useful? I also don't want to see another Double Clawshot, unless it's not a dungeon's item. Major disappointment there.
"Zant" is another thing that should not return. I actually believe Nintendo could make Zant return, if they wanted to, after him having gone through a complicated character change. Or they could make another boss, similar to how Zant was supposed to be, and just not ruin him. What I don't want is another boss to appear, be made out to be this really cool bad guy, and then have all his thunder stolen by Ganondorf. That was a really bad idea, and it really hurt the game.

I really don't want any more sci-fi stuff or anything remotely close to it. Twilight Princess felt too sci-fi for my tastes, especially many of the baddies. The entire Twilight Realm, while pretty, looked like something off of the sci-fi channel, and I don't feel like it fit the series in the least.
I do NOT want any more sidekicks! Argh! I miss the days of old when the advice you were looking for could be found through random NPCs and signs and whatnot. I'd like to have that feeling of adventuring and exploring on my own again. I don't mind having another character that has a lot of depth and background, but I really don't want them tagging along. While I'm not exactly looking forward to the "hint system" Nintendo has been talking about for their upcoming games, I think it might be a way out of sticking us with a quest buddy.
I don't want any more "surprise" characters. Sheik was all, "Surprise, I'm Zelda!" Same with Tetra, same with KoRL being the king, and somewhat the same with Ciela being the oh-so-important character. No more, please. I know Zelda has some things that are always repeated, but this shouldn't be one of them. It was fun the first couple of times, but now it's so predictable that I don't even know why they bother introducing these new characters in alternate forms. When I saw Midna, I knew she wasn't what she seemed, because it's been done over and over and over.
And I definitely don't want any more crazy new legends being brought up without revealing information about the ones we're already questioning. The whole "The Oocca created the Hylians!" thing brought up in Twilight Princess really threw me for a loop. While it was indeed interesting, it only raised more questions to issues that we haven't yet received answers for. I understand that the timeline is a work in progress, but I think that they should focus on setting us straight on certain things before they decide to further complicate the legend as a whole.
I don't want any more overly dark tones. Darkness is good in moderation, but c'mon, this isn't The Legend of Gothica. Some serious tones, scenes, and characters are great, but there should be some levity to balance it out. This is Zelda, not some halfassed teenage-angst game, yet it seems like that is where the series is heading. I'm not saying it needs to be all Happy-Happy-Joy-Joy, but Nintendo does need to be careful with the whole "more mature Zelda" move. I understand that it's hard to appeal to both western and eastern gamers.... I mean, western gamers want gritty, angsty, blood baths whereas eastern gamers want cutsey, jolly, kiddie games. It's hard to make both sides happy, especially when games like TP are considered "too easy" by westerners and "too hard" by easterners. I suppose that's why the TWW style is being stuck to the DS and the more realistic style to the Wii, but I'd rather see a nice balance in one game rather than seeing two very different styles separated by consoles.
Lastly, I do not want voice acting. Most anime is a good example as to what atrocities occur when dubs are made. If they plan to keep the Link/Player bond alive, it's best that they don't force dialogue on the main character. I didn't mind the garble in TWW and TP... really, Midna's dialogue was actual voice, just garbled. One example is, "The spirits... it can't be!" There are various clips out there containing the actual voice clips, ungarbled. In any case, I wouldn't mind hearing NPCs speak... just so long as they didn't sound dumb and slow like in Fable/II. But Link speaking? No thank you.

In the first case i never wanted to see a realism Zelda game. Saw some pic's on the internet about a upcoming Zelda movie. It's really stupid to see Link as such a realistic character. i don't like realism graphic's in overall, so i never wanted to see a Zelda game with the graphic's as Metal Gear or something. And we all wanted to see Link in his normal graphic's again. No realism for me please.
Second would also the Futuristic for me, i have to agree. Making fun with Link on a motor is nice but see him walking with a gun a driving into a car... No, i never wanted to see him like this. I love the old times with the Sword, Horses and Castle's, so let the game be. It will also be a huge changing if they release a Futuristic Zelda game.
As third i wanted to adventure alone again. All the other characters told always the next destination. I wanted to figure it out myself like in Majora's Mask. They gave always the points in Twilight Princess, marked as a Red circle, and then Midna told always were to go. Well not only Midna all the person's in Twilight Princess. I wanted to spend hours searching for a specific place on my own, well a charachter with me is okay, but he or she must not tell everything were to go.
As fourth no easy game. Twilight Princess was to easy in my opinion. I wanted to see more challeging bosses and more secret places. I almost never dies in a boss battle in TP while i died many times in OoT and MM. All the games after OoT and MM started to get easier. Well i enjoyed some difficult points in The Wind Waker... again i want a more challeging Zelda again without sidekicks. I miss the old times with the difficult mini-games and galleries in it. They put all the hearth pieces and stuff on the most easiest places in the game. I really enjoyed TP, but never want to see a easy game like this. More challenging bosses and more sectret places and mini-games.
Maybe most people will kill me or something but i DON'T want to see Young Link ever again. It's nice to play as a kid in the games... but giving him a title the Hero of Hyrule is just pathetic. I enjoyed the way he was only playable as adult in Twilight Princess, he fits the titel ''Hero of Hyrule'' more than a little brat. The adult Link fits The Legend of Zelda ways more, we all loved the adult Link now though.
I agree with Zaruda about Link's voice. I never wants to see him speaking normally with people. Hold him just as ''Mario'', Mario never spoke in any nother game. If other characters have a voice i agree with that, but i never want Link to speak. His yellies are enough in the games.
I never want to see blood in the Zelda games. It's normal to see blood if you stab someone or shooting at him/her with a arrow. But like all the other Zelda games i never wanted to see blood in Zelda games. I think Nintendo will never put blood in it, because the games must be playable for children too. I am not a child anymore but i never want to see blood, never.
No more Ganondorf minions. I mean something like Zant who's used by ganondorf. If they put a whole new boss do it without the Power of Ganondorf. It's really hurts me what the Sages said in TP. Ganondorf was placed into the Twilight Realm and cast his power over Zant. I don't want to see a disappoint character again, i mean Zant was as least a crazy dump while my first thought were Zant will be a real big challenge, and a serious badass.
In the next Zelda game i don't want to see Ganondorf return. I don't say i never want to see him again. I like to see something like Vaati or Majora again, just a ''new'' villian in the world of Hyrule. I know Ganondorf is the TRUE villian but i like to see a new one.
The most important for me right now is the games difficulty. I really wanted to see a more challenging game with difficult puzzle's and no sidekicks.

I do not want:
Tingle
Navi
Toon Link
Easy Challenges and Bosses
Linearity - I do think the games need some structure, but I want a little more than go from A to B to C to D to Ganon followed by, "Oh, and you can go find some poes if you get tired of the main quest." Is it wrong to want some Oblivion in Zelda?
Larger Hyrule - Someone above me called Hyrule a dead land, or something to that effect. Absolutely correct, in my opinion. Hyrule should feel like a real place where people make their lives!
No more worthless items - If I'm going to bust my butt to get an item, I'd like to use it someplace other than the temple I found it in. And do I really have to hang on to that slingshot after I find the bow and arrow?
Voice acting, although I could easily handle Midna's garbled "speech".
Modern-day or futuristic Zelda
Sidekicks that point out the obvious - Midna's fine, as she contributes quite heavily to the story and allows Wolf Link to get where he needs, although I could have done without some of her hints, but those fairies did nothing other than point out to you where you should go, how to kill something, etc. Not to mention, the second you got off course and decided to go exploring, you'd hear a distinct, "Hey!"
Crossbow - I know, it was only for the Wii Shooter thing, but I really don't ever want to see it in an actual Zelda game.
MIDI music - Why can't Zelda get the orchestra it deserves? WHY?!?!?
Just because I can't help myself, here's something I would like to see:
Princess Agitha - Seriously, who didn't think she was just weird and quirky in a neat way, not in a Tingle sort of way. I loved finding her golden bugs!

Actually, I'm one of those people who have gone from thinking like you, to thinking that voice acting may actually be possible, even in a Zelda game.
Those anime dubs are badly done with voice actors who don't really seem to care, nor who have any real talent. If, however, they had the opposite in voice acting, it really wouldn't be so bad. They should choose the best people who do the best voice for any specific character. They should also make sure that this person knows what they are doing, and put some emotion into it.
Next, voice acting does not mean Link has to talk. Voice acting simply means the other characters, who talk through text, will have voices. Ganondorf, villagers, friends of Link, etc. But not Link himself. Link should NEVER talk.
The only real problem posed with voice acting is using it in sync with Link's name. As we all know, Zelda is a game that allows you the option to name Link whatever you want. I think this adds personality to him, and should not be taken away. However, this poses the threat of what the voice actors will say when they stumble across Link's name. This can be avoided, as long it's done cleverly and carefully.
Therefore, voice acting could work for Zelda, as long as Nintendo choose to make it. My thoughts, anyway.

what i want to see
more puzzles not sure when zeldas got away from puzzles
better/more trading sequences
More spin off games...I would love to see "Shadow link" Games
More character development no characters stand out besides link, zelda, +ganon
Maybe develop Bruce Campbell a bit more(lol, I have to get it in there)
what i do not want to see
music i love the zelda music....don't change it
yeah i agree Ganon needs to be out trumped by a more evil entity
i never like the side kicks it should be link and link alone kicking some b***
other good guys are ok but no more tag along sidekicks

I don't want easy bosses- I want challenging bosses that you really have to think or use common sense with, and ones that are truly terrifying.
Larger hyrule- i want to find myself in a large huge land that can truly be called THE GREAT KINGDOM OF HYRULE! Not just a field, 2 towns, and a lake, and a desert that no one goes to. I want to find myslef in a great huge desert that has people traveling, and a huge lake where people will take rowboats out and go swimming in, a town that has people interacting with everyone, like in MM when every day the characters had a point! I want more towns.
No more Ganondorf. How about link is about to find Ganon and a great entity appears and goes like "You're services are no longer required" and kill him." I want a new villain. someone like Fawful in mario.
Voice acting- Not a good choice.
Harder puzzles- I hated the Gaurdian Puzzle, and I love it also. I want more puzzles like it, and no fairy that says "you should push that pot right there to that spot right there."
NO WRITE ON MAP!- This is one of the reasons Phantom Hourglass was too easy. This isn't a good idea!!!!

No more technological advances. The train idea is really pushing it. Whatever happened to riding a horse or walking the whole time like in the original. Technology has corrupted Earth and I don't want to see it corrupt Hyrule.

I disagree with alot of peoples opinions in here.....
I want Toon Link to stay.... He is pretty much the AT Link, and taking him out and replacing him with anything else would feel weird and wrong.
I don't as such want harder bosses as such. I want bosses to do more damage, be more harmful than too much more difficult. I found all the TP bosses fun to fight, where as I found most of MM and OOTs bosses painful and irritating to fight.
I want a longer game per say, but not too much longer. If i wanted something Final Fantasy length, i'd go play Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda games usually have the tendency to be the perfect length. LTTP and OOT felt likr the perfect length. MM and TP felt kind of short, but not as to make them too short, and the Piece of the Triforce quest made WW feel longer than it needed to be....
Tingle is also fine in my opinion. I like the fact that MM made you buy maps to make up the world map instead of just expanding it by visiting places. It made more sense to me really. And Tingle only gets the hate he does in WW because of the Triforce Piece Quest and the pain involved with it. Other than that, he's a perfectly fine NPC who doesn't deserve all the hate.
Side characters are also a must in Legend of Zelda, and have become tradition since Ocarina of Time. Whilst I agree they should tone down the obvious unless you specifically want a clue, I feel it would subtract from the story and general atmosphere if you took them out entirely.
As for area of Hyrule.....I did like the size in TP, though I agree it was somewhat empty. If there was more in it or more fun sidequests, it would of been more acceptable all up. I'm all for a bigger Hyrule as long as its productive.

I don't want another sequel to Ocarina of Time.
OOT has had too many sequels, MM, TP, WW, PH.
The next Zelda game needs to have a story that does not tie into OOT.
I also don't want Link, Zelda, or Ganondorf to have voices.

Overall, I think I've seen some things I wouldn't necessarily mind having again, but there are definitely things I could easily get out of and things that have never been added that I don't think would add to the overall game experience.
First of all, I can not stress enough how very, very much I agree with all of you that Link should not talk. Link talked in the LoZ TV show as well as in FoE and WoG, and we all saw what that did. If Link ever talks, I will lose all hope for Nintendo as a game company and I will buy a Playstation 3. THAT'S HOW SERIOUS I AM! Seriously, who has a PS3?
On another note, I would not like to see whatever Sci-fi things that you all are talking about. I've never even heard any rumors of anything like that, but that definitely sounds odd to me. I'd think about it for a moment, but in that moment, something would break and I'd probably have a stroke. Sci-fi and Zelda are like food and soap; they are two things that are fine separately but not together.
On the other hand, I don't think TP was necessarily Sci-fi. I believe the alternate dimension thing was sort of like a topic that could also be used in Science fiction, but in this case, it was explained well enough for me to accept it. Plus, it's basically like the darkworld from LttP. Same idea, just carried out differently.
Moreover, I would also not like to see anymore damned tagalongs. Navi, Tatl, Midna, I'm okay with their existing, just stop following me! I always thought it odd that somebody was following me all the way through and pretending to help me when really, they were just standing there and yelling, "Hey, Listen!" for thirty minutes just to tell me something they told me thirty minutes ago. And Midna didn't really have to be with you, she was magic enough to just hide in the shadows, it always seemed to me like she was just being a lazy, stuck up *** who would rather ride along on the back of a wolf than merely hide in the shadows through the dungeon and then kill the end boss with her crazy-powerful magic. Seriously, she can lift up giant-*** rocks but not bash a Goron's brain against a wall until it drops her Fused Shadow.
I'm also not a big fan of quests that require gynormous ammounts of rupees for no reason. Tingle would translate your maps for 200 rupees, so you had to keep coming back because you couldn't get them all in one shot. It really kind of pissed me off. Then I had to sail the seas in search of Rupees! Or rather, I just cut the grass outside my Cabana for a while because while it was monotonous, it took far less time.
There was also the sidequest for the magic armor in TP which involved like a thousand for the bridge, then five thousand for the store or something like that. Whatever the price was, it was enormous and the reward wasn't that great, but you didn't know that until you actually got it.
Overall, I'm probably going to be happy with about any Zelda game they come out with just because I trust Nintendo, but there are a few things that could break it for me.
Alex_Da_Great

I don't want to see things that you have to repeat over in games. I absolutely hated the Temple of the Ocean King and The spirit bug catching in PH and TP!
As long as they don't do that, i'm happy. :)
