What zelda game was hardest to complete 100%
And what was the easiest.
I think hardest was Mm.
easiest: Nes Taol.

I think that Majore's Mask is the hardest Zelda game to beat 100%.
You have thee dungeons, and the sidequest(like helping people and getting all the masks).

All heart pieces, maps, treasures, items etc. Not only story.

The easiest for me would have been Phantom Hourglass, because the only real challenge would have been collecting ship parts - but because of Wi-Fi, there was no difficulty whatsoever with gathering all the parts.
The hardest for me would have been Majora's Mask. Not only did it somewhat boggle my mind at first with the time, in general there just were somethings that were actually rather complicating for me for a bit. For instance, the Gyorg was one boss that I felt was rather confusing at first, but once I understood what to do - it was much easier (isn't it always easier once you know anyhow?). But because of a lack of Wi-Fi (which I enjoy) Majora's Mask takes much more time collecting.

I would have to say the Hardest for me was MM because it was just plain confusing at first and it is not an easy game

I'm going to laugh if anyone says that Wind Waker is the hardest.
I'd think a few people would actually say that WW is the hardest. I'm not one of them, but it's a very tedious game and some don't have the mind span to sail across an ocean for an hour.
I think easiest would be Phantom Hourglass, if I actually tried I could probably beat it in about 2-3 hours.
Hardest is still Adventure of Link. I'm not the best with the battle system on there, and just not good with how the game is set up.

AOL. I'm still trying to get past the death mountain maze.
Easiest would have to be...Twilight Princess. Everything was obvious.

Easiest has to be PH. The dungeons were so small and you could see the next room on your screen. After you found an island the name sort of gives away the secret to something. Although I did find some things to be somewhat confusing. Not much though.
Hardest has to be MM. Only 3 days is like what? And if you go back in time you lose all rupees you didn't deposit and all items for your items. The masks were fun to get but some were just hard. The temples were so big I got lost in them about 10 times!

I guess maybe Phantom Hourglass because I don't have Wi-fi. I'm having trouble finding everything. But to be honest, I haven't completed any of the Zelda games 100% yet. But I've come really close on: OoT, MM, OoA, WW, and TP.

I say Majora's Mask. I haven't really bothered to complete most Zelda games 100% besides OoT, PH, MM, and TWW.

Majora's Mask, definitely. It had a ton of side quests and just the main quest was pretty hard.
As for the easiest, I think MC. Yeah, it had a lot of Kinstone Fusions, but it was never too difficult to track them all down. And most of the heart pieces were pretty easy to find.

Easiest for me: LoZ
Hardest: AoL
Personally, I don't care about completing games 100%. Collecting items gets really boring after a while. I don't know how many times I've started OoT with the intention of collecting all of the Golden Skulltulas, only to get caught up in the adventure and suddenly realise I've beaten a dungeon without getting them all. And then I can't be bothered going back. Maybe if I'm ever sick of playing the main adventure I'll aim to complete a game 100% and collect everything, but the awesome thing about Zelda games is their replayability. And when I'm not playing the main adventure, I like exploring on my own and stumbling upon things, and learning more about the land and the characters and things like that (i.e. Gossip Stones in OoT).
With that all said though, the main adventure of AoL is freaking hard. I am pretty sure I'd find it easier to complete another game, like TP or MM, 100% and collect everything in a shorter time than it would take me to beat AoL (and I'm saying that as someone who did beat AoL once!).

The hardest to beat 100% would be MM, but the easiest to beat 100% would be AoL, think about it, the only hard part is actually beating it, and before you go to the great palace your gonna need 100% of the upgrades and items to even get thru there

I never completed a zelda game 100%. as long as i finish a game it's good enough for me.
Easiest: PH, I never had problems with the dungeons or bosses.
Hardest: Alttp. I'm playing alttp for the first time and I haven't been so frustrated about a game in years. I died at least 40 times in the three days i'm playing it. And those bosses make me go furious, especially that yellow worm thing. I'm constantly swearing, throwing the controller and being agressive. But i still want to finish it ^^

definately majora's mask... some parts in it were just way too difficult for me, like the kafei and anju quest, the final part of it, anyway...
actually, my copy of MM was completely impossible to finish at all because it was a defective copy, with the data randomly vanishing and reappearing, or just staying gone...
the easiest for me... um... dunno, i found a few of them kinda easy, the first game, link to the past wasnt too difficult, the wind waker, twilight princess...
Edit: also, i keep hearing that AoL is the hardest zelda game out of them all, but you say its the easiest? kind of odd...

My first would be Majora's Mask, but Ocarina was a bit hard if you wanted to complete it all 100%, e.g. getting the Skulltulas.
Majora's Mask was hard in the sense that you were pressured to get it down correctly the first time, if you screwed up on a certain part of a temple, or sequence of events, it wasn't like Ocarina of Time or most others where one could go back and restart. One slip could mean running out of time and dying.
There was also the long and involved side quest, The Kafei and Anju. In fact, I found the whole Bomber's Notebook to be quite difficult a task at time, given the time limitation.
I found it difficult to try and constantly balance all the events in the right sequence to be able to complete them without time running out. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it,

I agree that MM is a hard game to complete 100%. Myself, I used several weeks, maybe a month, to complete it 100%. Of course, I was in good hands as I folowed Calebs MM walkthrough as it lead me to this site. But still, there's still all those tricky sidequests and masks to collect...
I can't really answer wich game is the easiest to complete. I haven't completed so many 100%, I've sort of run through most of them.
Though I can't give a specific answer, I must say that I find for example OoT much easier that MM.

The hardest Zelda game to complete is AoL for me. Games like MM are difficult, but at least dying dosen't put you all the way back to where you originally started >(...
Easiest is probably the original LoZ. It was kinda difficult, seeing as how you were never told where to go or what to do, it was more or less just a guessing game...But once you found out where you needed to be, the dungeons weren't that challenging and the bosses were all pretty simple.

I do not know which one of them is the hardest since I seldom complete them at 100 %. Easiest was (T)AoL. But I am still not sure I have found all extra lives yet. Does it make 100 % even if I have not found all Link dolls?
Chris

The hardest was definatly OoT. It was so hard to get everything in that game because it was so long and big! MM would be second because you have to keep defeating the bosses over and over again to finish it...

Majora's Mask was the Hardest because of the many dificult sidequests that asked you to fight while timed.

Hardest: Hmm, I'll say TMC, the stupid figurine collecting is very annoying. I guess the hardest for me is also MM. I can't decide. :D
Easiest: Hmm, it probably be Phantom Hourglass, because you only have to get heart containers. Seriously, some of the heart containers in that were much easier to get than heart pieces in other games.

02-09-2009, 04:10 PM
Hmm.. Phantom Hourglass was pretty easy to beat 100%. I'd definitely say it was the easiest.
As for hardest to get 100% on, I disagree with the Majora's Mask people. Majora's Mask isn't that hard to get 100%, I got every mask in about 6 months time without a guide. The only thing that really annoyed me with MM was getting all of the fairies in the dungeons.
Wind Waker might be on the list of the hardest to get 100%, but only because of the need of the Tingle Tuner (I think), and the difficulty of getting every figurine in the game. It's easily harder than Majora's Mask in my opinion, no question. In fact, I still haven't gotten all of the figurines in WW yet.
The same goes for Twilight Princess. I haven't beaten it yet, but it looks like catching all of these bugs will be a pain without a guide. Also, when I think of a game being 100%, I assume everything is finished, that means every treasure chest opened, finding every ooccoo in the dungeons, EVERYTHING. This makes TP a pretty tough game.
Zelda 2 is a tough game to complete 100% in a sense, because you'd technically have to beat the game twice, for the first and second quest. Getting all of the heart pieces and magic containers wouldn't be a problem, but collecting all of the link dolls without dying would be.
The Oracle games might be a challenge as well, getting every ring in both games and opening every chest, which I think might be impossible in one file (because of your choice of animal-partner).
Overall I'd have to say PH is the easiest, and TP is the hardest, with WW following closely behind.

Hardest: WW. To have all the charts, hearts, trading items (like the flowers) and all the figurines (I'm actualyy missing three or four, since I don't have a GBA) is a good challenge
Easiest: TP. Because everything is obvious and there aren't much side quests, plus, the hearts were easy to find because Fanadi tells all where they are. The golden bugs weren't so hard to find. The only thing that is hard to get is all the 60 poe's soul.

PH was pretty tough because of all the power gems and ship parts. I spent a few hours going back trying to get all the ship parts only to get the same ones over and over. Once the game's essentially complete, it's tougher to do this I find. It should really be done more as the game progresses to make better use of Beedle's Shop putting new item up for sale each day, but I was more involved with the plot so I put it off. It also didn't help that some of the pieces were available to me when my rupee count was low, but they never popped up again when I had built up my money supply to maximum.
The repitition of the salvage mini-game is also very taxing, so it's easy to give up on the ship parts. Gems are a bit easier, but you just have to be on constant lookout as you go.

I'd say MC and TWW.
Heart piece hunting and upgrade requiring are a cinch compared to the patience involved with the figurine collection in MC and the time and slight skill involved with TWW figurine collection.

The easiest game for me was ALTTP. All there is to collect in that game is Heart Pieces, and items, very easy. And the hardest is deffinately MM. There is just to much stuff to collect in that game. There's all 24 masks, 50 + heart Pieces, and a ton of items.
Link Master
11-17-2009, 08:17 PM
I think the hardest is Majora's Mask because it has a ton of side quest and the Anju and Kafei quest takes a long time. I think the easiest to complete 100% is I think the Minish cap because there are really is not enough space to put a lot on the game so I think since they were limited Minish Cap is the easiest.

I would say MM is definitely the hardest to get 100%. So many masks, and so little time. Literally. Really, who thinks to wait out at a specific area at a specific time to get a mask? The Blast Mask comes to mind first. Who really thought to be at that specific place at that specific time? Don't get me started on Anju and Kafei. Geez, that was super complicated by itself. The Stone Mask is the same way, except the guy is freaking invisible. Those three along with more than 15 others, and you've got a super hard completion on your hands if you don't use a walkthrough.

11-17-2009, 10:07 PM
To me, the easiest was probably AoL. Sure it's a pretty tough game, but there aren't a lot of heart pieces and the like to hunt down.
I'll agree with the apparent consensus on MM being the most difficult, just because there's a lot of stuff.
SuperSilly
11-19-2009, 11:03 PM
I would actually say the hardest to 100% is OoA/OoS.
This is because in order to get everything possible in either game you must beat both games in a linked game. I myself have never gotten 100% in either OoA or OoS, I have only played through them once, because it takes a while. (And also because my GBA has no backlit screen so it hurts my eyes if I play to long...) I also got stuck at least once in both the OoS and OoA trading sequences.
Second place for hardest to 100% is MM for me. Even though it was the first zelda game I got 100% on, it was difficult because there are a large amount of heart pieces. Finding those last few heart pieces in every game have always been troublesome for me, and MM had more heart pieces due to having only four dungeons.
Shnappy
11-25-2009, 12:05 PM
I think that without a doubt, MM is the hardest to 100%. The game is hard to beat on its own, even without getting 100%. MM just had so many sidequests and collectible items. Since there were only four dungeons, that makes there four heart containers achievable without collecting heart pieces, giving Link 7 hearts if you don't obtain any heart pieces. This game has 52 heart pieces in all, which is just crazy. There are a couple that are pretty hard to miss, like any of the other Zelda games, but overall, there are quite a multitude of heart pieces that are pretty well hidden, despite the fact that there are 52 of them to begin with.
Then of course, we have the masks. About 7 or so of the 24 masks that are obtainable are actually required to beat the game. I guess that's actually kind of a proportion if you think about it, but either way, it's no easy task to get the remaining 16 or 17. Some are pretty straightforward and easy to get, like the blast mask, but then again we have the couples mask, which has it's own sidequest that lasts the whole 3 day period, that requires you to be at certain places at specific times, and it's pretty easy to screw up one little thing, causing the whole sidequest to be restarted.
In addition to the Heart Pieces and Masks, this game has more bottles than any of the other games (I think), as it has 6 of them. The first one is easy to get, as it is required in order to save Koume. But some aren't so easy. One is part of the sidequest to get the Gilded Sword, and you have to win a somewhat difficult Goron race to achieve it. Then you have the one bottle you get in Ikana Graveyard on the final night, that requires you to lead Dampe to a bunch of different places in the area in order to get to a big poe which is killed to get the bottle. And again, there is one that is part of a painful Anju and Kafei sidequest.
Next, we have the stray fairies. Acquiring all 15 in each dungeon is no easy task. It wasn't too much to handle in the Woodfall and Snowhead temples, but it was very difficult in the next two dungeons. The Great Bay Temple is already insanely difficult to get through (in my opinion, the hardest in any Zelda game), but to go out of your way and get all the well-hidden stray fairies? Near impossible. I was never able to do it, I only managed about 10 fairies. And then, there was the Stone Tower Temple. The temple wasn't nearly as hard as the Great Bay Temple to clear, but it was still very irritating to try and get all the stray fairies. In this dungeon they seem to be the most well hidden, in my opinion, as they are worked in to all these little places throughout the dungeon, and are pretty hard to find when there are basically two dungeons because of the fact that the dungeon is flipped upside down halfway through.
MM is undoubtedly the hardest, but as for the easiest to get 100% completion, I'm going to go with LoZ and AoL, in a tie. Sure, they were two of the hardest to defeat, but you didn't have to do much more than beat the game. LoZ had a few items you had to be and 5 heart containers, all of which were pretty easy to get. You also have the two sword upgrades, but all you have to do is just find those after getting the required amount of hearts. Then in AoL, you had to get 4 heart containers, 4 magic containers, and that was pretty much it, other than completing the game.
I've never completed any of the games 100%, so this would be hard for me to say, but just guessing based of what I've done in past games, either OoT or TP would be the hardest for me. There are things in those games that I cannot get no matter how hard I try (eg, Big Poes). I've never bothered to collect all the collectibles (eg, heart pieces), but I honestly have no sweet clue where they would all be.
I'm up in the air about MM. Some things, lke the masks, weren't pretty easy to get, but other things, like the stray fairies, I've never even tried to get.
easiest for me was twilight princess
hardest on the other hand is windwaker as i havent done it 100% and well i cant be bothered with MM and im doing ocarina of time 100% as we speak :p

i think all of the Zelda games were hard to complete in one way or another. But i guess the hardest (and longest) one for me was completing TP because of having to collect all of those Poe Souls!! I agree MM is infuriating, but only because I'd do something wrong, run out of time and have to start again. If I paid attention, I could probably do it :L. I think that AoL was the hardest Zelda game to beat myself... but for 100% i would have to say MM it had alot of junk were you had to be on the right day to get somthings... i still don't got all teh bottles and heart pieces along with there only being 4 dungeons with bosses that give you a heart container you have to look for 68 heart pieces!! (sorry if my math is wrong)... people are saying WW is a easy game to get 100% and others argue "well it can and cant depending if someone wants to sail across the ocean for an hour" but thats not HARD!! thats TIME CONSUMING!!... hehe so MM is the hardest for 100% for me!

This one's a tossup... big time.
MM is freakin' ridiculously hard with getting all the heart pieces, masks, fairies, notebook stuff. That WHOLE game was collecting stuff. But in terms of difficulty in not only getting, but finding some things... AoL. Once you cross the sea to east Hyrule, you can kiss your *** goodbye.
I gotta say both. MM & AoL. Hardest.

I'm going to laugh if anyone says that Wind Waker is the hardest.
Laugh it up Midna666 because I do think the Wind Waker is the hardest, well for me that is. Like Josh mentioned, I don't have the patience to sail across the Great Sea. I still need three more Pieces of Heart and the rest of the treasure.
The easiest one for me would be Twilight Princess because the fortune teller told you exactly where all the Pieces of Heart were and took out that challenge. The only challenge in it was finding the Poes' souls.
Hardest?
Twilight Princess. Why? I have trouble saving money for a Wii, the game, and a new TV as mine broke down recently.
So getting it for 100% in my house is quite hard.
Easiest? The Adventure of Link. Why? Even though the battling is quite hard the first few times, there are no big sidequests, which makes it a breeze to collect all the spells, items, magic jars and hearts. (that's all)

I'd say MM, I haven't completed it but I can figure out it's super hard. There are like a gazillion masks to get in the whole game and you have to be at a specific time to get some of them.

The NES games are obviously the easiest ones to get 100% on. OoT and MM are some of the hardest. I think MM was harder than OoT because of the time and the Stray Faires. I spend roughly an hour on Stone Tower trying to beat it while grabbing the faries... They are hard, but that's what Zelda Dungeon is for! Our guides are dedicated to getting you 100%. I know it takes time, but the results are well worth it. It only took me five months to write the Link's Awakening Walkthrough. I know that sounds long, but that's actually pretty short when it comes to our standards. :)

With a walkthrough, or without a walkthrough? I can only answer the former... someone who's beaten all the Zelda games without a walkthrough would have to tell us the latter. :embarrassed:
The easiest would be FSA. It's very easy to find everything hidden in those levels. I've gotten all the heart containers and the blue ring on every level in there. That, finding the required inventory items, and beating the game... is just about everything. It's pretty easy to get all the possible Force Gems on the level with practice in 1P mode. The challenge in that game, would be trying to beat it without using a single Force Fairy, and get all Force Gems. It would be at LEAST as hard as ALttP if you did that. :)
The hardest would be MM. It's actually not that hard to find most of the masks with a walkthrough, but the challenge is getting the last four heart pieces and the Fierce Deity's Mask. Some part of you just rebels against giving those stupid guardians all your hard-earned masks, and the mini-dungeons you have to go through to get those last four (and Mask) are horrible, especially the Goron one where you have to roll. Finally, it leaves you feeling too anxious and eager to beat the game, so much that you just want to skip it, because it's literally RIGHT before the end.

Owa! You really think so?
In my opinion, the hardest Zelda to complete 100% is the original one on the NES.
I have already finished it, and it's almost impossible to find all hearts without a walkthrough or by yourself.
That's because you will find absolutely no clues for most of the heart pieces in the game. Many off them are at completely random places, like a single tree in the middle of a forest. The walls don't have cracks neither emit distinct sounds to reveal they can be broken. It's like trying to find a ship in the ocean with no GPS!

Am I the only one who finds it hard to get 100% in WW? That's mostly because I have trouble keeping track of the treasure charts. It is so easy to miss one...
MM is also hard to 100%, mostly because a few heart pieces are stupidly hard to get. I'm mostly talking about the ones that require you to get perfect scores in minigames.

I really had a lot of trouble with the charts to the point where I was so annoyed that I actually quit the game and have yet to complete it. Finding the pieces of the Triforce was very tedious for me and I did not enjoy it at all. However I would say MM is the hardest game to 100% because of the sheer expanse of everything needed to do. Some of the quests for masks such as the couples mask teeter on the edge of impossibility without some sort of aid, as well as things like the Skulltula houses can be a tad annoying. To its credit though, MM is incredibly fun to 100% and for sure gives a strong feeling of accomplishment when doing such.
I am going to have to agree with some of the other posters on TP being the easiest game to 100% out of all the ones I have personally done a 100% run of. A lot of the things were pretty easy to find with a bit of exploration and time. OOT is also not a terribly challenging game to 100% but it does take a good amount of effort and willpower to collect all the Skulltulas.

I'd personally say 100% completing the Oracle games are the hardest, although I think that's mainly due to all the secrets and links between the two games. Most the games are quite easy to gain 100% on, and can normally be done during the main quest first time. However, the two Oracle games require game restarts if you want a true 100% completion for each one.

Actually, I thought Majora's Mask was the easiest. The hardest 100% is AoL, to beat it 100% you have to finish the main quest first (which is impossible!).

Here's a countdown for the games I played. From hardest to easiest. This list does not include AoL because that game in itself is hard.
1. OoT will always be the hardest for me because I do not have the attention span to go out and find every single gold skulluta.
2... no wait... 1 TP seems easy, but I still haven't found all the poes nor caught all the fish. I take it back, TP is the hardest because of Hena's roll game in the fishing hut. End of discussion.
3. ST I'm not sure about because I just wanted to know the story with that one when I played so I never tried collecting everything. It is difficult because getting all the items for train parts takes awhile if you can't trade with other people. And I mean a LONG while.
4. ALttP. Pretty much because I just really wanted to beat that hard game and ignored items I absolutely did not need. Even though I wound up finding a bunch on the way, they were all really difficult to get.
5. MC is hardish because if you don't fuse kingstones with certain people beforehand, you can't do it later. If that happens, you'll never complete 100 percent.
6. MM is actually pretty easy for me. Though I've never gotten all the heart pieces, I know where they all are and I know how to get all the upgrades and masks. (The only tricky part is the heartpiece in the Zora part of the moon and remembering which ones you've gotten after rewinding time.)

I'm going to laugh if anyone says that Wind Waker is the hardest.
...You can laugh now.
Yes, Wind Waker was the hardest for me. >_< Majora's Mask is quite easy in my opinion. The only mask I had trouble getting was the Fierce Deity Mask. Everything else was pretty simple and also fun. With Wind Waker, however... Seriously, even the Heart Pieces bugged me. All that sailing around for Treasure Charts and stuff... It was aggravating. PLUS, Nintendo thought up of the greatest idea that after you complete Wind Waker the first time, you get to go back and do EVERYTHING again--but now with a giant figurine collection you have to complete along with it!!! >_< And since you can only take three pictures at a time...

Hardest, Majora's Mask - so many heart pieces and masks, I would have 100%, but there is one heart piece I cannot find for my life and since it is my oldest file, I can't remember which heart piece I have and don't have.
Easiest, The Legend of Zelda - The only things you have to collect are a few Heart Containers, which are REALLY easy to find if you had NINTENDO POWER!

The NES games are obviously the easiest ones to get 100% on.
I think you're mistaking how easy it is when you know the game or have a walkthrough with how easy it is blind, which should generally be the point of this thread.
The original NES games are unbelievably vague about secrets. Even the main dungeons are incredibly hard to find if you don't have a guide to consult.
Other than the NES games, I guess I'd agree with Majora's Mask. Tons of secrets and many are very hard to get.
