View Full Version : Should the Legend of Zelda series ever bring back Navi?

Should the series of Zelda ever bring back Navi to the games? Well I really don't think not. She sure is anoying. Those words of evil still haunt my dreams. ( Hey! Listen! Watch Out! ).....so should they bring Navi back to the newer games, but make her less anoying, or should they just leave her in the history of Zelda?

If they changed her personality to be more like Midna's, or least less annoying and whiny, then maybe. Like, as a side character somewhere.
But overall...No. She was in Ocarina of Time. That was bad enough.

This is a joke thread right?
Navi is a Mary Sue.
If her personality changed to something likable, then yes. If she's going to be how she was in OoT, then hell no.

Ciela, to me, was Navi's replacement. Not only did Ciela have a more enjoyable personality, she was supplying information that was generally of more use than that we received from Navi. I do not hope to see Navi return back anytime soon, but rather see less sidekicks, or rather sidekicks that do not have to constantly tell you how to figure puzzles and such out, to make the games more of a challenge than what they have become.

It seems to be a mutual feeling that Navi was somewhat aggrevating. Maybe not the first time around, like when you didn't know what to do or how to do something. But the second and third time through the game, whenever you already had beat it, she still tells you things. Of course, this has to happen because its how the game was set up. But I think in the future, there needs to be less sidekick helpers, as Lenora suggested. Since Navi herself was in OoT, one would assume that in another Zelda title, unless it took place around the same time as OoT with the same Hero of Time, Navi would be either dead, or whatever happens to a fairy when they are supposed to die.
Now, what I think would be a good thing for the next Zelda to try out is a Training Mode. Maybe they could include a sidekick in the game, somewhat like Midna, who was more a part of the storyline rather than a random fairy, but not one that tells you every move to make. The Training Mode would be an option at the main menu, or the menu whenever you make or load a file. Sorta like many fighting or wrestling games have. Training would take you through a simulated dungeon that would show you basically everything you need to know as far as the basic controls of the game. This mode would be optional, and it would save a lot of senseless help you would recieve from a partner in the game, also making the challenge of the game a bit more difficult.

this i believe is a test...those who feel navi should stay out are the good sane people, but those who feel navi should return are soul-sucking zombies that dont care about the well being of the human race. i do care about my sanity

Navi helped me a lot the first time I played OoT, but I don't see the point in putting her in another game.

NO. Navi was good at first, but most of the time she was a hinderance. I agree with dark link_01, if they have a mary sue with wings, stick it in a training level. Amen.

I think Link should be on his last dying breath and when he dies, then Navi sacrifises his life to keep Link alive.
He should come back. She helped me a lot in OoT (except for the two final battles where I needed help the most). I don't know why everyone hates her so much. She may talk a lot, but you can just skip her words.

If they were to, say, give her personality, I would say yes. All Navi really was was basically like a robot. No personality, just a danger alert. No wonder people prefered Tatl.

they should not bring navi back for a number of reasons.
the first of these reasons is that there are already so many games that connect to OoT.
MM is a direct sequel and TP and WW are two games that take place 100 years after it and connect to the game.
we dont need ANOTHER game that ties in to OoT. we need a fresh Zelda game with a fresh Zelda adventure that doesnt connect to the same game that half the series connects to.

Maybe... if it helped you actually fight... don't know how, but it would be cool. Give you a break now and then. And yes, you could kill her. Then it would be cool.

I really liked Navi, but I find it unlikely that they'd use her again. Though it is possible that we may see a very similar character in a future game.

I dont really think they have a reason to do it. The fairy in MM (i forgot her name) was enough like her really. I never found navi annoying she is kind of cute ^^
You get used to her after a while. I just dont see why they would need or want to bring her back.

Navi is retarded its good she left after OoT
i apologize for that comment i am wrong there
you know navi is anoying bacause the button that acceses her (C-up) has another function (look through link's eyes) so you cant get navi's help whenever you want so she has to bother you constantly its not her fault
if there was another button for Navi or 1st person veiw i bet she would not be as anoying
so stop disin' on navi your hurting her feelings
i wouldnt mind if nintendo brought navi back but another sidekick would be better

So in a way... she kind of did return

I don't see a reason why Navi should return in the first place, but I don't want her in a zelda game anymore. 90% of her so called help was useless and annoying.

Yeah. And for all her " personality" she might as well be a robot. RoboNavi64.

I wasn't personally annoyed by her saying "hey," "listen," and "watch out!" like others were. The only thing I really found annoying about her was when she decided to tell you where to go next every so often. It irked me the most when I was doing some optional thing, or when I was ALREADY GOING THERE.
Other than that single thing I actually really liked Navi, as I said earlier.

I think Navi kind of took some of the challange away. And what did bug me is how she would tell me how to open a door or climb a ladder after I have played the game so many times. They should give you option to turn her help side off and she could just follow you around for looks ^^

I actually miss having a fairy partner like in OoT and MM in these newer titles. I used to become just as annoyed as anyone else with the constant "Hey!" and other quotes like you said, Axle, and especially with telling me to go somewhere when I was already heading there. But when I play the newer games, that spot seems so very empty now, except in TP, where Midna replaces the fairy.

Uh, if they get rid of the annoying phrases she says like "hey", and actually give her a awesome personality then yes. If she stays the same that is a definite NO.

Since OoT, every "sidekick" character has been better, both in terms of character and they don't tell you how to do every little thing (Press A to open a door!)
So, if they brought Navi back, I imagine they would do a far better job of her.

Well, now that I think about it more, I really didn't mind Tatl, and I sort of liked Midna. I think if done properly, then I wouldn't mind them bringing Navi back.
In fact, I think that if they gave her a more developed, albeit unique and interesting personality, it may even benefit the game. But one thing I really would want them to leave out is how she would constantly shout out tips, or where to go next. I'd rather figure that out myself.

I wouldn't mind Navi coming back. I never had a problem with her. (Assuming it's a female.) I was actually pretty exited when I found out you had a fairy in Phantom Hourglass. I had speculated that it was Navi, but *sigh* it turned out not to be.

Navi might have been my favorite of the sidekicks. But I am not sure if she needs her place in another Zelda game. Perhaps she could meet up with Link again - but that would throw a huge curveball for any timeline-theorists. I'd like to see Ocarina of Time remade, though, that's really the only exception I can think of.

So many people seem to have an issue with Navi. I don´t understand why. She was a bit much in the beginning of the game but that is actually good for people who haven´t got that much experience of Zelda games (and who had before OoT was released? I am talking 3D-zeldas now).
I don´t mind if they would bring her back.

Birng back Navi? possibly. My opinion would be dependant on wether they gave her more personality. But the way she was in oot, I tihnk a robotic replacement ofr her would be more lively.

depends, If they change her, and when I mean a change I mean a COMPLETE change instead of those annoying "HEY!", "LISTEN!", "WATCH OUT!", meke her helpful kinda like Midna.

well if nintendo realized that she was soo annoying they might change it but I bet they did it on purpose:rollseye: but I'd like her to be more like midna

They sort of already brought "Navi" back in Phantom Hourglass. XD It's really a different fairy though, but it does have the same voice. Call me crazy, but Navi's voice doesn't really bother me that much. It's only really sensible for them to bring back the exact same fairy named Navi if it's in the time period in which she is actually still alive. I don't know if she ever gets out of the Temple of Time, though...

I found her to be quite loveble. She was a cite fairy. Yes the other fairies were cute too, but Navi was different. I also didn't find her annoying.
But NO fairy is better than Cielia.

Of course!!!!!!! Navi was my favourite sidekick in the series.
Navi had the best information of all the other sidekicks and the noises she made were kinda cool once I got use to them. She had a great personality, a working brain and unlike Midna, a loyal personality.
Changing her personality would be stupid because when she said "Watch out!" She was just warning you of danger. The hey listen was WAY better than that retarded ringing that Tatl made. So, Navi FTW!
