Is it just me, or does it seem like the female characters in the Zelda games all have a crush on Link EXCEPT Zelda? Zelda and Link seem to have no physical or romantic attraction to each other. The exception in Zelda 2: Adventure of Link where (the original) Zelda and Link fall in love at the end.

I think its because the other female characters don't really take whats going on seriously, while Zelda is the one who knows whats going on before anyone else. The severity of the situation in each game is given by Zelda, she pretty much orchestrates the whole thing. Like Ruto for example. She gets saved by Link and gives him the spiritual stone and everything, but never really takes anything seriously until she turns into a Sage.
Zelda kinda holds Link's hand at the end of OoT when he's handing her the Ocarina of Time, so she does show a general caring for him. Maybe even a love for him. But its a deeper thing than just puppy-love or lusting over Link like most other female characters have.

Well, didn't Tetra kinda seem to have a thing for Link? But I've only played through Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass once, so I don't remember for sure.

Now, I know for a fact that Zelda, at the end of Oot, shows some affection towards Link while taking the Ocarina from him (I am suprised that they didn't kiss right there).
I will just throw in a random fact that supports your idea that everyone loves Link; Remember the three girls from TP in the star tent thing, well, they seem to be very attracted to Link, lol.
That is what I have to say on this topic.
Yes, Tetra was attracted to Link. That is obvious. The indications are clear.

Yes but Tetra was not the deep and wise person the princess Zelda from other games was...she was more carefree and more likely to engage in a romance

I don't think that they really ever have feelings of love between them, Also about the Zora thing, She only really loves him because they get Engaged to each other when she gives Link the Spiritual Stone

The connection between Link and other female characters to me, resembles more of infatuation than actual love. Zelda always shows a loving compassion for Link, whether this is a love between friends, family, or even as a couple - I cannot say. But it is obvious after the games, every Zelda seems to have a soft spot for every Link.

All I am saying is that almost every freakin girl in every freakin game of LoZ BESIDES Zelda (mostly) seems to have a thing for dudes in tights. It's kind of creapy when your playing. (fish woman[Ruto]) "Oh Link, since I gave you this stone, we are married! YAAAAY! (barfs) Seriously.

I thought that there was a connection betweeb Link and Zelda. I thought they had something in WW.

Yet that is not always the case. Tetra was very laid back, unlike other Zeldas. Haven't you read the thread?

Yes I have read the thread. But she is still a zelda. There is a different Zelda in every game, just linke their is a different Link in every game.

You basically just repeated what I, and everyone else, have said... And your trying to argue with it... let us end this arguement.

Zelda definitely seemed to have feelings for Link in OoT, especially in the end.
Indeed, Zelda has always had strong feelings for Link, albeit not clearly romantic.
I'd say TP is the exception, mostly because Zelda and Link are rarely together throughout the game.

But then why did you comment on my post for nothing then? I have my own opinions. That is what I thought, and you have your own thoughts. Just leave it.

i dont recall Tetra having showing ANY feelings for Link at all and i just got done playing through WW for a 3rd time about 2 weeks ago. from what i can remember, she always thought he was just a kid. she never even seemed to like him as a friend til the end of the game. i dont see why everyone thinks she liked him in WW.
also, i dont recall any girls swooning over Link in any of the handheld games or in WW.
and as for the whole idea of him being loved by all girls, i think its more of a rockstar thing.
"oh he's saving the world. what a courageous guy, and he's kinda cute!"

LOL, good point, and (my theory) they think Tetra liked Link because of in the sequal, PH, she seems to have more feelings for him.
Well Tetra sure seemed to be at least nicer to Link in the end, although I don't think it was really any feelings for each other, just a slight friendship.
There are some games I think where you kind of have to search for Zelda liking Link and vice versa, but I do like the ones where's it completely direct like the end of AoL. =D

I think that the anime is completely different than the games

Huh? In the link there is anime and games, but you don't have to count the anime.^^ I just really think that Link and Zelda really show the most romance, not non! That is there still isn't much.....

sorry, didnt see the bottom part about the games till right now...lol
anyways about the game comments, to me many of them seem to be very reaching, talking about smiles, and supposed lingering, etc.
but some of them like a kiss you can see if you do so and so seem pretty solid.

Yes. You did. But some of it was opinion, not fact. The point beside.

01-05-2009, 06:46 PM
Ya, you realldy don't have to count them all. Some I don't even agree with. But the point is that Link and Zelda have more romance then anyone else, also:
http://www.zeldawiki.org/Relationship_of_Link_and_Zelda
The game creators section. Its obvious Miyamoto prefers Zelda and Link together. I mean he flat out said so!
So really I prove you wrong..... sorda.....:hmm:

Yes, and no. Yes, Zelda + Link = :) , but no, because he practically has all of Hyrules girls nipping at his heels like lovesick puppys. But still yes.

The games definitely point in the direction of a relationship. Take for example, the ending of Twilight Princess; despite Link and Zelda's limited interaction, several scenes were evident of something.

Depending on your perspective, it can appear like many things. Of course they have a relationship built, but I do not view it as a romantic relationship. I find their relationship more to be a friendly one, and while they have exchanged romantic gestures in the past (i.e. a kiss), that isn't to directly assume that there is anything more than a strong friendship, in my opinion.

I haven't really thought about this. Ilia and Tetra seemed to like him. Hmm... But in the end of OOT you can just tell how sad Zelda is, her emotion towards Link. In Majora's Mask remember when they had the flashback of Link and Zelda. Well then I thought that Link may still be feeling strong about Zelda. But the question is did he ever think about her in that way? This is one confusing topic for sure! All I know is that I wnt them to kiss in a future Zelda game!XD

That is what I think to. Was it Zelda II that had the kiss? I cant remember exactly.
And your avatar is sooo cute ^^

Zelda II had a kiss, as well as the Oracle games once you complete both of them in succession. Those two are the only ones that I remember there being a kiss between Link and Zelda in, and I'm pretty sure they are the only ones. The kiss in the Oracles was more of a quick peck on the cheek, so it was pretty harmless. The one in Zelda II, however, seemed to be something more meaningful because it apparently lasted longer, and had to take place behind the curtain.

Well, there sorta is if you look closely in the final battle between link and ganondork in TP. If you watch zelda's movements right before the twilight shows up. Aww she is woried about him. And there you go she does like him, they just dont make the game show it, hehehehehe.

I personally would like to see them together. I think they make a really cute couple for some reason.
It's true though, there haven't been many obvious hints. Most of the "hints" found by fans can be interpreted either way - as friends or as lovers.
These are what I feel are the obvious hints:
~The kisses in Zelda II and the Oracle games
~The ending of OoT
~Zelda flashback in MM
~Some portions of the Wind Waker
But here's a question - do Tetra and Sheik count as Zelda? Or are they completely different pairings? Because if they counted as Zelda, there would be a few more hints. Tetra and Link seemed to sacrifice and care a lot for each other and Link looked like he knew that there was more to Sheik than met the eye. He was always running to catch him/her before he/she disappeared.

In Minich Cap and Spirit Tracks, I think that there is something beyond their friendship. The game begins with us knowing that they are childhood friends, and then Link is set out to do whatever it takes just to rescue (or revive) Zelda. :)

It is obvious that at least one of them has feelings for the other. Some people have been saying that it's hard to tell what kind of feelings they are. Yes, I can agree with that. But I feel like they always have a sort of childish, but powerful, love for each other.
However, I do not appreciate their love for each other (but I don't dislike it, either.) I think that Saria is probably sitting in her tree-house, in an OoT cartridge somewhere, crying because Link doesn't love her.
That's right. I'm a Saria and Link fan.
