Me was always wondering what element people liked.
I favor fire the most. It can be very deadly!
What do you pick?

Pure.

Natural.
Too bad I dont drink it.

It's just oppisite of fire!

Well according to my Zodiac (Taurus), I looked it up, and apparently my element is Earth.
My favorite element would probably be water. That stuff is awesome.

I prefer water. I like how it is does what it wants to, even if it means tearing through cities as a flood.

Air, air is awesome, i mean, lightning would fall under air, fire is way too hot, earth smells like dog poo, and i don't like water unless it's rain, which is awesome because i have an excuse to run around and jump in little puddle things. I'm a pisces (anyone who is not a pisces fails), so i'd probably fall under water, but still air is just way more badass then water, unless it's ice, ice is cool, but still air.

this is a tough one...if we ho by the four then i would have to say fire because its so much fun. However if we go by the original then ill go with ether, the element of light/darkness.

Always been keen on Einsteinium myself.
Because none of the things you guys list are actually elements.

Ok is this about the four main common elements like Fire, Water, Wind and Earth?
Because Chrisbg99 has a point.
You have different philosophies about elements.
Here is a link, you may find it interesting.

Just 'cause they aren't elements on the Periodic Table, doesn't mean they aren't elements.
I would probably have to go with Air. There's nothing like going outsie on a summer's day, and smelling the fresh air.
chrisbg99
12-11-2008, 07:05 PM
Air, water and earth are mixtures and compounds made up of actual elements. Fire is energy.
The whole elements thing is a crock and misunderstanding of science similar to humors were used to try to treat the human condition.

Well, if we are discussing things like Water, Fire, and so forth.
I would pick water.
If we were discussing the Periodic Table of the Elements, Arsenic. Rat Poison ftw!

well if you want to be technical than .FLORINE. replace the oxygen used for combustion with this and you can instantly light steel or glass on fire

Out of the options of what you have given that you call elements, I would have to choose Earth.
But concerning chemical elements, the lightest metal, lithium. ^^
Inflexus
12-14-2008, 01:52 AM
With "elements" I'd have to pick Water.
With the PToE, I feel inclined to say Carbon because it bonds with pretty much anything important.
Smitie
12-14-2008, 04:07 AM
I go for water, because my zodiac sign is aquarius.
With the PToE, I have to say Beryllium, one of the most toxic metals and one of the lightest.

Earth, no dout about. It's awesome, hard and it is so cool.:)

Of the four, water is the only drinkable element. And I like to drink a lot. :P So water ftw.

Water. If i could control it, I could hold countries or cities to ransom.....without their water, they could die, so they's have to give in , or drink filthy water!......
But that's not what I would use the water for.

As for the four most commonly known elements, water, earth, fire and air, i'd go with water. It's so amazing... it can save lives, but it can destroy them. Fire is reckless, earth is always either stubborn or weak, and air can't stay in one place. All four are important, but water fits me best. It's calm and quiet, but can be noisy and rough to.

I like Earth. I am a tad afraid of fire in reality, don't like water and air is boring.

Like I said before, I'm Earth because I'm a Taurus, but sometimes I'd rather be water. :)
Apparently Earth elements are more down to earth and stable in things, and not always liking change. I'd say that describes me.

fire, its alluring and can bring destruction to everything around it, or it can help bring life, you never know when it comes to this element.
it also feels the most right to me, it can be calm and unwavering one moment or wild and chaotic the next...

My zodiac sign says my element should be fire and I can understand that and it kind of reflects my personality. But fire is also dangerous and scary. The wind I never liked, not to much of it. I can love earth, the red soil in some places around the world is fascinating i think. The water I also like but I have respect for the great dephts of the vast oceans, make me lose control and I am not sure I like it. Itīs so hard and I canīt pick one, sorry!
From the periodic table (and other spots) I would say I like Cesium, fascinating!

Of the old elements of Earth, Fire, Water, Wood, and Metal
I choose Metal
Of the most well known "new elements" I choose Water
And of the elements of the Periodic Table I would have to choose Sodium because if you put it in water it lights on fire and zips around the surface of the water and ends with a little pop

I would have to pick water. Even though I am afraid of it and I cant swim. We cant live without it and it is very pretty. I love the sound of water falls and creeks or rivers ^^

Coincidentally, in the Chinese Zodiac, my element is metal, which I heard was the "Chinese version" of wind.

My element is Wind.
It's calm,but strong
It can't be seen but but felt
It can clear a room but it may ruin your reputation(passing gas, Fart XD:lol:)
It can move and can be in any direction
It also represents life. Why? your breathing right? so if i took it away, you would die from lack of oxygen.
The Shadow
07-27-2009, 06:16 AM
i would have to choose air, becuase then i can destroy peoples fire because i can take away their oxygen, i can puch water away with strong air currents, and earth... well it's more fun to fly than it is to walk, otherwise i would have to choose fire, and if it were out of light and darkness i would have to choose darkness

I really have no idea which I would choose. All the four elements seem to be interesting :D
Astrology tells me that my element is Fire, so I guess I'll go with that :P
With the chemical elements though, Cadmium-112 has always been my personal favorite.

Probably fire, seeing as it can be the most practical. If the power goes out, make a few floating fireballs; if you're in the middle of nowhere and need a fire, make one by shooting fire at a pile of brush.
In regards to the periodic table, I'm going with rhodium, because then I'd be richer than everyone else.

Looking at the article...
Alright, I am DEFINITELY the "Aether" or the "Ku" element. Spiritual, creative, "out there beyond everything else." Sounds like spacey-brained, creative me.
In the co-write fanfiction I did recently "The Great Desert" - my co-writer and I made "Aether" the "missing space of the Triforce" everything around and between that held a mastery over all nature.
As far as the Periodic Table of Elements... I don't know. I figure I correspond to Lithium. It's assocated wtih crazy people *waves* and it makes batteries work.

Wind because it Can Be harmful but always helpful. Can be warm or it can be Cold. It can never be solid. You can never see it. That is why I choose Wind or Air what ever you want to call it.

My element would be.....
Wind. It is limitless, i can be created, it can be felt but not seen.
it also represents serenity (According to me that is XD) and grace.
it is flexible(By that i mean it can be "bent", by shaping it or blocking it to make it into a shape. it's hard to explain uh.... my head hurts)
there i go:
i have known that fire is my element and fire is:
Strong
Powerfull
And some kind of out-of-control and unstoppable
allthough i like that element, fire is power and power is fire, and if fire goes out of control then... i would not extinguish it.
fire represents power and power and strenght as i previously said.
yeah its FiRe!!! for me is all powerfull and strong!!!

Okay for some reason I can't edit any of my above posts so I decided to make an entirely new post.
Anyways as I stated above my main element would likely be wind/air. I'm a libra (and I think the Libra element is air/wind), I'm fast like it, and I tend to make a lot of changes.
However, now I think I'm more closely related to fire. My reason's behind this include: I'm very passionate about things (fire often represents passion), I can be kind and caring but also malicious and destructive (trust me you wouldn't want to see me enraged), I really like to make fire (in the past I've been bored and purposely set fire to raw spaghetti while cooking), and I tend to shoot first ask questions later (another thing fire represents).

I don't have a favorite element in the sense that most people here are considering an element.
But if we're talking about the periodic table...I'd have to go with Lenora and say Lithium. Last semester we did this cool lab in chemistry where we determined what the cation was in each of four salts by determining what color they burned. I'll never forget the rich, beautiful red the Lithium burned. It was so pretty. :)
Much more exciting than that yellow sodium and orange potassium...bleh.

When it comes to the so called "classical" elements, though, there's two schools- "The ability to control" and "Which one's most pleasant to you". When it comes to superpowers, I'd have to go with either Wind or Earth, since they're pretty much never in short supply unless you're either under the ocean or in outer space, two places I never plan to be. Earth is like "i keels you with giant spikes", but Wind is like "i can flyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeee! also I keels u by suffocation." I'd pick wind in the second category, too, since a nice breeze is kinda pleasant and it generally never gets in my way.

Oo, I like fire. It has always fascinated me; since I was small. I could sit and watch a bonfire for at least half an hour, a complete victory for my parents. I was Super-Mega-Ultra -Hyper Active when I was small. :)
Whenever I was allowed, I'd do a mini-bonfire next to the big one. I'd keep it on for ages, always adding more and more stuff on it.

Hm. Have I posted in this thread before? I'm not sure. But if I have, here's an update.
If I could choose, I'd pick either Ice, Fire or (if it counts) darkness/shadow.
Fire: The passionate element. It brings destuction, but also life
Ice: The graceful destroyer and preserver.
Shadow/Darkness: I have always had a fascination with the Darkness and the mysteries it hides. Shadow is also the main element controlled by most of my favorite VG villains. :D

Since I'm studying chemistry, I'll of course use a real element. And I think I'll go with carbon. It's so versatile, as its elemental form alone can be diamond, graphite, soot, fullerenes... and it's the basic element of organic chemistry, life would be impossible without it.
For "mythological" elements, it's probably fire. Yes, I'm a little pyromanic . I could watch campfires for hours and I love fireworks.
Raven
04-16-2010, 08:53 AM
hmm so i suppose my element would be water since i am an Aquarius and the symbols for that zodiac are either two fish or a vase pouring water. the are a few other zodiac like the Japanese zodiac in which i am a sheep, but im not sure what element that would be, maybe earth. I don't know I have always found that I am a more "grounded" person besides being flighty like the wind or hot tempered like fire. So I'm gunna stick with water and earth, the two seem to reflect my nature...
fredthehylian

Elements in my mind are not just Earth, Fire, Water Etc. I tend to go off on more of if anything exists, it is in my mind an element such as a soul. For example: Gravity, Space, The moon... I could go on. If I personally were any element I would probably be fire or darkness to reflect on my inner self.
Erebea
10-15-2011, 04:55 AM
My element would be darkness. I am interested in darkness in many ways like in mythology and philosophy.
"Erebea" is the feminine singular nominative case of the adjective meaning "of Erebos." According to Hesiod, Erebos ('Ερεβоς) is the god of darkness in Greek mythology, the son of one of the original gods, Chaos. The children that Erebos begat with his twin sister Nyx (night) were Aether (shining air)*1 and Hemera (day), (cf. Theogony 123-125), and, being darkness and night, they are divine beings that precede light. In the words of the German romantic philosopher F.W.J. Schelling (1775-1854), "All birth is birth from darkness to light." (Investigations of Human Freedom, SW360; but according to Hesiod, it wasn't that everything was born from Chaos and darkness―the heavens, the oceans, and many others were born from Gaia, who was born at the same time as Chaos.)
Thus, light cannot give birth to darkness, but darkness can give birth to light. Darkness is not in opposition to light. Darkness is a source that holds all things within it, and is tremendously broad-minded. This broad-mindedness becomes a power that takes in all opposites such as good and evil, superiority and inferiority, self and others, etc. This is because light is the basis for opposition and disparity. Schelling says, "Light's advance on the dark aspiration to create something
is due to the thoughts that are mingled in chaos becoming distinct
and unity being erected" (ibid. SW361). If light is the basis of opposition and disparity, darkness is the basis of nondiscrimination.

I am Darkness.
My Heart is closed, with a seal that only my One With The Light can open.
My Soul is already gone. To where, not even a God would know.
I am tormented past where a being of any other Element would instantly have their Heart crushed and Soul ripped out.
I see the World slowly decaying into the Void of Darkness.
I am the True Form of Darkness.
