Phantom Hourglass gems/levels?

What is the highest level you can raise your spirits to? Is there a limit to the amount of power/courage/wisdom gems you can obtain?

Also, what is the difference between the levels?

You can get them all to level 2 by collected 20 powers gems, 20 wisdom gems, and 20 courage gems.

The differences in the levels is just the effect of the spells. At the 2nd level, with the spirit of power, your sword will now always be flaming and your attackw will do 4x the damage. I forget which one is which for wisdom and courage. One of them will strengthen your shield. You will now only take 1/4th the damage and some enemies won't even hurt you at all. The last spirit will allow you to shoot a beam blade attack with the first upgrade. With the second upgrade, it becomes a much wider beam.

i never used the power gems in fact i never knew what they were for lol.i might play through again,as im sure itll be better second time round and ill notice things i didnt before.

i have nineteen for power AND courge.ive been playing for days just to get the last of power.(thats counted for help!)

i have twenty for courage and now i have the strong fire sword. Everything else i only have like ten. it woudbe cool if you could use three spirits at once.

i know a little about the wisdom gems.
i don 't know if the shield only is upgraded or that it also reduces damage?
1 thing is for sure, your shield is upgraded. even at 10 wisdom gems, if an enemy touches your shield they become stunned, this also works great for the yellow and blue chuchu 's

other thing is, am i the only one who thinks it weird they are called "gems"?
looks more like a jelly with a jawbreaker candy in it.

Yeah - kinda like ChuChu Jelly from Wind Waker. I am still yet to collect all of the gems - I'll get around to it sometime. I haven't tried the Wisdom Spirit yet though, Come to think of it I only ever bothered to use Power.
