In OOT after you get all three stones(but before you get the Master Sword)go to the back alley of Castle town, and you will find a dying solder.
Has anyone else seen him?

I thought you just saw it on an online zelda site that always has that kind of stuff.

I haven't seen him before. But I always thought that the back alley was not acessible. I thought I remembered trying to get back there and not being able to. But I don't think I tried it before getting the Master Sword, so that's probably why I was unable to see it.

Nope. Never gotten it. I've gone back there numerous times every time I first get to Castle Town, but never at that point in time.

You have to go there imediatly after the cutscene that
SPOILER WARNING
Princess Zelda flees with Impa to somewhere else, after you got the three Spiritual Stones. At least I think that is the only time...
That one quote the guy said helped me on my Fanfic!

I passed him over for a long time not even thinking of going down that alley. I'm not even sure why I went back there in the first place but when I found him, I was like "Whoa, didn't know about that. Neat."

yeah that was also my first reaction.
you know what's interesting? the fact that i have never seen a normal person die in a zelda title. (putting aside link 's uncle in Alttp).
and the funny part is "he's not moving anymore" :xd:
why didn 't they just put "he passed away"
I've known about it for a while, and I've gone there a couple a times throughout different plays. I always though it was fun, because it's a little extra bit that's just thrown in there.

Maybe to increase the dramatic effect or something. Or because they can't actually say that someone actually DIED in a Zelda game. That would be way too graphic for the kids and would push the rating up. (Sarcasm)
But I would personally would prefer a "Woah he friggen died!!!" from Navi instead. :D

Well considering that 3 characters (at least they were kind of ambiguous on the Sages) died in OoT: The Great Deku Tree, the soldier, and Dampe The Gravekeeper. With the Deku Tree and Dampe they didn't tip toe around it they outright said that they died.
Why they stated in that instance that he just wasn't moving any more instead of outright saying it is odd.

Yeah, actually I found this guy on my first run through the game. I always try to explore everything the first time through :). I remember him being there but don't really remember much after that.

Never noticed it before, even though I've played through Ocarina of Time quite a few times. Interesting.

Oh, THAT guy! I remember that. The first time I went through OoT I didn't know where the temple was very well, so I zoomed through all of castle town looking for it. Lol. I forgot about him after beating the game way back when.

That's ****ing cool. One thing I didn't know about OoT. I never bothered to check back there at that time. They even added in a little extra animation to him dying. Seems out of place.

It was interesting, and a bit sad.

I found that when I was randomly in the back alley, buying Bombchus or something like that, and I found this guy. I was in a "What the heck!" moment.

Glitch(?) I found in Ocarina of Time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgXFknbDXuU
Let's head to the back alleyway in Ocarina of Time before Zelda and Impa flee from Ganondorf and leave behind the Ocarina. Now, let's watch this again... in slow motion. Okay, now we've seen there is apparently a guard that loads then suddenly disappears. Now, let's go collect the Three Medallions and get the Ocarina of Time, then head back to where we witnessed this "ghost" solider....
Watch here (http://tinyurl.com/5nxp2m).
This little scene has eluded many Ocarina of Time players. In fact, I missed this about the first ten times I played through Ocarina of Time. After the scene where Zelda and Impa flee Ganondorf's pursuit, I would always head straight to the Temple of Time to grab the Master Sword. If you take the time to head to the Back Alley before you go to the Temple of Time, you'll come across this poor soldier once more.... it seems he is dying, but didn't we witness him before for a split second?
Your thoughts? Was this poor soldier just a ghost lingering to warn Link of Ganondorf's tyranny, or was the game simply being glitchy?

i've seen a thread of this beofre. But I didn't see him, even in this video.
I wonder.......You suggested he may be al ingering spirit wanting to warn link of ganondorf...Which means he must have ded VERY RECENTLY. as in, up at the castle mere minutes before the cut scene with ganondorf, impa, and zelda. which means that he must have been oneo f the ifrst guards killed, right?

I saw this when I played this. I think it's just a glitch, personally.

Hmm, I never noticed this before. I doubt it has any meaning though. Probably just a good old fashion N64 glitch.

Never even noticed that, that's strange. But Ocarina of Time has quite a few glitches, so I guess it's just that, a glitch.

Seeing how Zelda 64 (OoT) keeps the record for most glitches in a game, my bet is that its just another one.

I don't think it's a glitch if you can go up to him and talk to the guy, but I think that the little ghostlike appearance was a glitch.

well it seems nothing like a glitch to me glitches are like getting to the shadow temple before Dodongo's cavern GLitches are things Nintendo would accendantly make and I think Nintendo put the dying soldier in on purpose

Ofcourse the dead soldier wasnt a glitch, we were speaking of the "ghost soldier".

I think I remember seeing him. My memory of OoT is very short for I haven't played it in so long. It was sort of creepy to see the dying soldior though. Very depressing.

I truly love reading about things like this, things still get discovered from time to time :)
I really look forward to trying this, and will have to search these forums for more similar discoveries.
But yes, its a sad thought thinking about this valiant soldier dying for the Princess. But its also a testament to the goodness that was in Hyrule before Ganondorf took over...
oh man... I never thought I'd see something new about OoT.... and I never saw that guard...this is so cool.....glad to know the best game ever (imo) still shows some surprises
all hail OoT:clap:

I've never actually took the time to come to the back of the alley and look for the dying soldier but I shall soon.Wait is there a certain time I have to come to the back of the alley?
I really dont think this has anything to do with a hack, I personally think Nintendo did this to add a secret and those who actually find the secret will get a little more suspense out of the game .To me a glitch is more of something like getting to the spirit temple without getting the master sword yet.But I'm gonna go checkit out next time I have the time to do it thanks for the idea ^^.
I believe it has to be right after zelda runs away and ganondorf comes after her...but before you enter the temple of time....

Yes I have seen him because when you talk to him first he says some stuff about how he tried to hold of Ganondorf and after you talk to him again I think Navi says he is unresponsive or something like that!

Whoaaa that was depressing but awesome. How did I miss that?! -Kicks self-
Well, I'm glad I saw it just now. But I just sprinted for the Temple of Time (Going to get the Master Sword) without looking back, which I'm sure most of here did, so that's why I think most of us missed this soldier dying.

I thought that Link's uncle did die in ALTTP, and that he was bought back to life when Link gets the Triforce at the end of ALTTP.

^That's what I understood as well.
I saw him since my first play through it. I think it was a neat little detail to add to the feeling the cinema left on you.

Ahahahah! I agree. It would be fun.
I don't really understand the "ghost soldier" glitch though, does he appears twice? O_o
or is it just because he looks 'ghostly'?

I knew about it because I'd seen it on a video somewhere a long time ago, but when I tried to look for him, I didn't find him. I think I just went at the wrong time.
P.S. The video I saw him in was the "The legend of Zelda: abridged series" on youtube. If you've not seen this series of videos, check it out. They are very funny if you are familiar with OoT.

Why they stated in that instance that he just wasn't moving any more instead of outright saying it is odd.
Well they made a joke out of Dampe, he was a goofy floating ghost with a halo and a minigame of sorts, and the Deku tree was well... a tree. I mean, the Market being demolished and filled with re-deads always gets me, and as a kid it totally freaked me out. "Market" pans up and you're like, "oh crap..." That's worse than the Deku Tree or Dampe imo.

Wow, I had no idea this guy was such a rarity... I feel lucky, I found him by accident on my first game. It wasn't that profound. It was just sorta like, "oh... well that sucks" reaction.

I've heard rumours about this but i never remeber to go to the alley just before growing up so this is the first time i've seen it. It's poignant, but subtle, moments like that, that set the Zelda games apart from others. Once you go back in time, technically you go back to exactly this moment so arguably the soldier should be there even when you come back, but he's not so i think that the reason a lot of people miss out on this.
