What is your favorite movie of all time. I don't really have a favorite but some ones that I really like are: The Blues Brothers, Animal House, Spaceballs and some good series like star wars and superheros (mostly Superman). Those are all that I can think of right now.

My top one used to be Stargate, but it was replaced with Contact. Stargate's better if you see it through the eyes of a child - I was 12 when I first saw it. Contact is good no matter what - I get so much from that movie, depending on what I focus on. Life experience changes how I see it too. I recently bought the novel of that by Carl Sagan, which I still need to read.

Honestly, my favorite movie has always been, and will always be, Star Wars 4-6. I've gotta say that a lot of movies have come close to them, especially recently with Transformers and The Dark Knight, but I'm a diehard Star Wars fan till the end.

The End is a good one and so is Throw Mama From The Train. They are all classical movies. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is a good one too. It made me laugh a lot just like..... I have to many movies to put in this thread so I might as well just stop here.

For some reason, whenever someone asks me what movies I like (or music) I can't think of many. All I can think of now, is The Lord of the Rings (the whole trilogy) and V for Vendetta (because Kitsu mentioned it). Yeah.... I'm kind of picky with my movie ratings though, so I wouldn't have many on my favorites list.

I'm gonna name a few, I always end up forgetting a good one though.
The Boondock Saints - This is my #1 recommended movie, a lot of people haven't heard of it, and always say it was awesome after watching it.
Spaceballs - It has me laughing easily every 5 minutes, no matter how many times I've watched it.
Office Space - I didn't see this movie mentioned yet which amazes me, a classic movie that I find myself quoting pretty much every day.
The Prestige - Magic, Nikola Tesla, Rivalry, Dedication, whats not to like? I would start a new thread about this movie if I knew enough people have seen it.
Blow - Watching someone go from nothing to something, then have it crashing down on him, very emotional ending.
Requiem For A Dream - A movie about addiction and how far people will go to get what they are addicted to. The movie is actually pretty gross.
Scarface - Just a simply great movie with lots of action.
Braveheart - A good love story, and not just the love for a woman, but the love and loyalty for ones country.
Star Wars - Do I really need to say anything about Star Wars?
Lord of the Rings - Some epic battle scenes, and a good story although it can be kind of slow.
Batman: The Dark Knight - All around awesome movie.
I could keep going but I'll hold myself back or this could end up being a really, really long post.

Way way way WAY too many movies I love so I'll name a few
Goodfellas - Probably my favorite
The Godfather - This one was just amazing
Clockwork Orange - ...Wow... All I can say is... Wow
The Deer Hunter - A very powerful movie, I love it for that.
To kill a Mockingbird - This movie just had a brilliant story and was well written.
Casino - Similar to Goodfellas, not as good but still awesome.
Midnight Express - A very powerful movie, pretty sick too.
The Man with the Golden Gun - My favorite Bond film, and it's the way he should be, smooth yet fun, not like Daniel Craig who can't crack a smile.
Dragon Tamer

Dark Knight is overrated, Heath Legder is the worst Joker Ive ever seen, The Best still is Mark Hamil.
While I do really like Heath Ledger as the Joker, I always loved Mark Hamil. He's still the best. :D
....never even heard of Mark Hamil.
What the hell, Josh? Mark Hamil played Luke Skywalker in Star Wars! (He was also Skeleton King in Super Robot Monkey Team Hyper Force Go, and Overgrowth in Danny Phantom, and Firelord Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender.)
He also played the single best Joker ever, in the old Batman animated series. He was the voice of the Joker.
Anyway, my favorite movies (in no particular order) are:
Get Smart, Monster in Law, Kung Fu Panda, LotR Trilogy, and Hayao Miyazaki's movies (all of them,) and War of the Worlds (the new one.)
I have tons of other movies I love, but I think I could only really put these ones at the top.

I am a guy who has a camera and as aspired to become better at film, one day to possibly become an indie film maker, since I dislike a good deal of Hollywood stuff. It's been a tough three years of filming but I have definitely improved, and so having said that here's the movies that I found really special to me.
Metropolis (1927)
This is a German movie that was made in 1927, but the special effects are seriously comparable to that of Star Wars. Absolutely unbelievable effects, and also one of the first occurrences of a robot in films if I'm not mistaken. This movie actually was made before the word robot was coined, and therefore it's referred to as the "Machine Man" in this movie. Also, it's silent.
The Blues Brothers (1980)
I hear many people say that there is no such thing as an American culture. Clearly those people have not seen this movie. It just literally is one of the most American things I can think of. I absolutely love this one.
Cloverfield (2008)
Broke all the rules of filmography ever written, and for that I love it. That and after seeing so many of those silly Godzilla movies where they have to explain its backstory, it was nice to see a monster movie that left the viewer in the dark throughout the entire experience.

1.Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Not only had one of the best action scenes ever(the tank chase) but created an emotional level that hadn't been seen in Raiders and Doom.:)

It's hard to say any 1 favorite movie .. if I had a gun to my head and was forced to choose one, it would be Heat. Outstanding cast, great acting, and a mixture of a little of everything ... action (one of my favorite action scenes of all time), drama, suspense, some comedy. Though it's a 3 hour movie, it doesn't play like one.

Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet (probably my favorite at the moment. it's basically an unabridged version of the original play, except set in the 19th century. it's four hours, but the acting/casting is SUPERB)
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
All six Star Wars movies
Braveheart
Labyrinth
The Princess Bride
And lots and lots of musicals/Disney movies.
Terminator 2 also and Lotr also Back to the Future

Without a doubt, 100%, with every ounce of my heart and mind, Donnie Darko.
I really can't do it any justice, but the acting was imensley believable, the characters enticing, and the whole story a beautiful mix of love and meloncholy. I'm not as partial to Richard Kelly's later work, but this movie is simply brilliant.
And really, what other movies have a main character who wears a demonic bunny suit?
Also, now that I've seen more strange films, I can add to my list...
2. A Clockwork Orange - There's a reason this movie is referenced so often. It deserves it. To see that now it's 40 years old and everything is still as sharp as when Kubrick first put it out, I can't help but love every second of it.
3. Being John Malkovich - quite the concept we have here. Very interesting, I always like to question if the ending was just or not.
4. The Machinist - Gotta love the way they shot it; I can't pick out more than a handful of shots with sunlight present. Add an emaciated Christian Bale and a story consisting of a mix of memory, paranoia, and an uncertain reality, and you've got a great film.
5. Requiem for a Dream - This one is my least favorite, as for some reason Jared Leto annoys me in his main role. I can't explain it, it just makes the film a bit more difficult for me. Still, it's an interesting concept; exploring addiction made for an interesting movie.
(Can we all pretend S. Darko was never made?)
My favorite movie is probably the Lion King or Pochahontus. (not sure if that's the correct spelling)
Other than that, I like Titanic, Avatar, Paranormal Activity and The Hangover.

Any and all Pixar movies. It's hard even to pick a favorite among them. Monster Inc, Wall-E, Up, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo...they all have their own strengths. They'd be my top five, in no particular order, and the others I haven't mentioned following close behind.
I was in high school when Clueless came out, and it's one of my favorite romantic comedies. If you've never seen it, don't be fooled by the way it looks. It's loosely based on the plot of Austen's Emma, set in a modern-day Beverly Hills high school. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a parody of teen movies because the movie, in the end, is affectionate toward its characters and has a lot of heart. But it is snarky in its own way and has some hilariously quotable lines.
Also, Bend it Like Beckham. It's about an Indian girl who plays soccer (to those of us in the US - but "football" since it's set in England) but that causes conflict with her traditional parents and their dreams for her. It handles the subject well and it's funny to boot.

My favorites are always jockeying for the 1st spot: The Departed, District 9, and The Dark Knight.
It seem likes each time I re-watch one of them I change it to my favorite.
The Departed is some of the best acting ever IMO. Leo is brilliant, but so are Matt Damon, John Voight, Jack Nickelson, and Mark Whalburg. So many bad asses! It's all about character development in that movie.
District 9 is here because of the story. The premise (actual racism, not color prejudice) is brilliant and the computer graphics are top notch, and on a budget too! Sharlto Copely FTW! Some of the most fun acting I've ever experienced.
The Dark Knight is a perfect balance of drama and action. Gotham is a perfect setting and Aaron Eckhart (two-face) is one of my favorite actors evar!
others that are close to the are the recent titles that were adapted from Graphic Novels: V for Vendetta, 300, Watchmen (I haven't seen Sin City)

I have a weird taste in movies. I mostly like comedies, cartoons, and quirky movies. I'm usually quite bored with a dramas and I can't stand horror films.
Borat, Edward Scissorhands, Up, Little Miss Sunshine, The Hangover, 500 Days of Summer, Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton version), The 40 Year Old Virgin, The Wizard of Oz, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Napoleon Dynamite, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Tim Burton version) and Aladdin.
I love Borat. Even though it's extremely cheesy, I still find it hilarious. I'm also a huge fan of Tim Burton and also all Pixar movies (except Cars) and all Disney movies (from 1937 to 1999 only). I also love anything Steve Carell does.

Lord of the Rings. All three of them. Hands down. They were so epic, and everything was so realistic.

I've always liked The Emperor's New Groove. That was just an epic movie. Also The Lion King. There's so many jokes you don't get when you're young, but when you grow older, you watch it again and it's even a better movie than before. And Pooh's Grand Adventure was sooooo adorable! It also has those little jokes you don't get when you're younger.
But my favorite movie that was in theaters not too long ago was How To Train Your Dragon. That movie was just amazing. It had an adorable soundtrack, the dragons were so cute, and the characters had great personality. <3

There are just to many to, but here are the ones I can think of. I love most Pixar movies. The Simpsons movie, you can't question that "I like men now!" - our friend Ralph Wiggum. The Blues Brothers "This place has everything!", "He broke my watch!", "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses", and "I hate Illinois Nazi's" <some of the greatest quotes of all time. I think I like Blues Brothers so much because my dad does and it takes place in Illinois, my home state.

Billy Jack and The Trial of Billy Jack
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Ghostbusters I & II (Ask me any line-- if you dare!)
Stephen King's The Stand

I have quite a few favourite movies. Recently, I just seen Death at a Funeral, wasn't the best, nor horrible I'd seen. The only comedical part's where when Oscar got very high on a Acid-Drug pill.
Kun-fu Panda- I'll admit, it is pretty funny and I love animal's so I figured this movie would be okay.
Rugrat's The Movie- Do I really need to explain why?
Step-Brother's- nearly pissed on myself

"Wait a minute .... who's steering the boat?!?"
I love that movie .. and Will Ferrell did a very good job singing Por Ti Volare at the end.
My New favorite movie is The Army of Darkness I just saw it. The movie is an Action/Adventure/Horror/Comedy. To top it off the Humor in the movie is similar to the Three Stooges Slap Stick. I absoloutly love this movie it has hundreds of one liners like "This is my Boomstick" or "Good,Bad, I'm the guy with the gun" It's a brilliant movie check it out.

One of my favorite movies is Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. Its a spoof from a old martial arts movie. They mix the old movie from the 1970's with new characters. Here's a quote from the movie:
[Master Tang walking and singing] "Hmm, chicken go cluck-cluck, cow go moo. Piggy go oink-oink, how bout you? Wanna be an animal just like you."
[breaks off and looks around]
Henchman: [in bushes] "Cuckoo! Cuckoo!"
Master Betty: "Mmm, I'm just a birdie, too!"

Well, last night I was on Netflix on my Wii, and I decided to watch a German Movie, and it was 7 Dwarves. Oh my god. Best movie/comedy that I have ever seen. I was laughing so hard that tear's went down my face, I could not stop laughing. Most of the jokes were "blonde jokes", but in this movie, the blondes are the smart ones and the burnett's are the dumb ones. Which made it more fun to watch.

Favorite movie.... hmm. Definitely a tie between The Dark Knight and Inception.
The Dark Knight is so very epic. The plot, and the dialect of the Joker. His schemes; the plot of the whole movie was phenomenal. What a pity that Heath Ledger died.
Inception brought about all new ideas to the subconscious mind of humans. It was definitely mind-blowing; a movie to be watched by anyone who likes to be thrilled and thoughtful the whole way through.
