View Full Version : Zelda WiiWare?

This thought had come to my mind just the other day when I was playing Mega Man 9 for the Nintendo Wii. (The game is amazing by the way... anybody who liked the old NES Mega Man titles will love this one).
So why not a Legend of Zelda title that is released through WiiWare? I think Nintendo can release a Zelda title that follows a similar graphic style to that of A Link to the Past. I unfortunately get the idea that Nintendo has moved past the classic 2d Zelda style for any future Nintendo DS title, and I think WiiWare is a great place to keep this traditional style going. They could use very little resources and probably still be able to produce a high quality Zelda product in a WiiWare Zelda title. It would give many classic Zelda fanatics something to look forward to, while also keeping the newer generation of Zelda fans satisfied with newer titles on the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii.
To me, it just makes too much sense not to do it. Who knows, but only time will tell. Mega Man 9 was such a great game and looks to be such a great success economically giving its low budget... Something Nintendo could easily capitalize on this market.
I don't necessarily think that's it's that bad of an idea, game wise, it could work out. The only problem I see with it (if I'm correct on exactly what WiiWare is) is that you can get it on the Wii Shop (which I, and I'm assuming a lot of other people) do not have.
Other wise it's seems good.

I think maybe a Four Swords like game or something could happen but probably not a stand alone adventure.

They could definitely do a stand alone adventure. Hell, Mega Man 9 like Mases mentioned was single player, and it was awesome.
All of these Wii Ware games don't have to be multiplayer...I mean they could be and it makes them ya know, more varied or whatever but, they could do it. Only problem is they won't...
These days Nintendo has so much going on the Zelda series that I don't think unless the WiiWare channel really starts becoming a very big thing, that they will attempt to take a major series of theirs and release an actual canon, or whatever you would call it, major title I guess, on the channel. They work on major titles among their major series on new systems.
So, like I said, they could do it, and what the above post may have been talking about was they wouldn't, that if they did it would be something like Four Swords, which I dislike a lot, in that case yeah you would be right. I think as far as they would go with a WiiWare Zelda title would be some crap like Four Swords.

A 2,5D remake of any 2D zelda would be quite awesome.

It would be cool if they made a Midna game.It could tell us more of her backstory.

I think they should remake the zeldas for wii 1by1. First Zelda one, then two, you get the piont. It would be cool to swing the wii stick thingy (dont have a wii) and make a sword come out of your other sword whenyou are at full health.
Is wiiware the same thing as a wii. I think so, if not, I might have to chang everything that I wrote.

Well, it wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea, but, like Josh said, there are a majority of people who don't even have it, and to add onto it, don't even know what WiiWare is. :P

But also a very good idea and I would definitaly get it.

Ya know mases that would work really well. I hope eventually nintendo makes another 2-d zelda on wiiware. so many fans want another decent 2-d zelda so let's pray to the goddesses that nintendo decides to make another 2-d zelda on wiiware.

What this could really be expanded to is something that hasn't been done before in North America, like Ancient Stone Tablets. Perhaps you could purchase the initial game, then when you're done with one part, if you wanted to, you could purchase the other parts. It could be like a growing demo. It wouldn't be the most money producing WiiWare thing, but it could work out.
Now, it would be cool in which they just made a regular Zelda game, but if they could expand it to perhaps make it so you could purchase certain items online so that way you could access parts of the game you regulary couldn't, that would actually be interesting. I wouldn't go for it unless it was for heart containers and such, but if it was cheap, then I could go for it.

I would love to see a serialized release of a classic-looking Zelda game. If it were in the 16-bit ALttP style, that would be superb. It would be great to have one of those 5-part downloads that comes every few months or so. Throw in some kind of purchasable upgrades as Petman said, and maybe even have a timed leaderboard like the Satellite View title and it would be great!
What would also be interesting it to make a full-blown Zelda III title in 8-bit graphics similar to how Mega Man 9 was the next in the series. It would be a direct AoL sequel that would follow what happened after the events of that game. It could just be a one-part title. I know it would blow timeline theorists' minds, but it might be kind of amusing to have an officially titles "Zelda III" game.

If it was done I hope it happens like this: the game isn't canon, it has 16-bit graphics (the 8-bits are great but 16 bits are better), a bit more depth in the story, cutscenes from time to time in great detail like they were in oox, and finally Vaati and the Triforce! Vaati is so great (i'm using him as the main antagonist for a fan-game on the windwaker fans social group here) the triforce would make things a little more highstakes and then of course that would mean it's a fourswords saga game. Although more like minish cap where there is one link and you use the four sword/white sword to make temporary copies of link.

They could probably release something like BS: Legend of Zelda.

They could do the Zelda WiiWare game like Square Enix did FFIV the After Years. You could purchase add-on adventures, you could play as Zelda, Ganon, or even as Epona.

Not sure if "WiiWare" got explained, but there is a channel available on the Wii called the "Wii Shop Channel". On this channel, you can download several games with a currency called Wii Points, which you can acquire by either punching in your credit card number orby buying a Wii Points card at retailers such as WalMart, GameStop, etc. 100 Wii points has the value of one dollar.
You can buy games with these Wii Points either by WiiWare or Virtual Console. Virtual Console is a system where you can buy classic games that were on systems such as the Genesis, SNES, NES, N64, etc. A very nice service if you don't have the consoles for the original games. They're also very cheap, too; Majora's Mask costs 10 bucks to download.
Now, WiiWare is exactly the same as Virtual Console but rather than classic games, they are completely original games only available by WiiWare.
Hope that helps. :P
Now, in my opinion, I don't think that they will ever make a WiiWare Zelda game. I'm sure it could still be a good game, but I really don't think they will. It could work. I would be happy to see one come out, but I just really don't think it'll happen.
