Right, there is a Chrono Trigger DS thread, but that's for opinions and whatever on the remake and blah blah blah.
Anyway, how many of you have played it?
I absolutely love it. I went through it in a few hours, so it's sort of short I guess you can say, but it's really a fun game and truly awesome game. I beat it a few times and went on to New Game+.
If you get the Black Rock, White Rock, and Blue Rock(there might be others), then it makes some near the end of the game battles a lot easier, because they invoke a really powerful Triple Tech. Magus is a powerhouse when it comes to magic, so I'm glad I didn't fight him down at the North Cape.
There are actually 14 different endings, like when you die there's an ending when the world's destroyed and blah blah blah. Lavos is the big bad guy in this game. I actually played through to I guess you can say the true ending, as in I went through the Black Omen and beat Queen Zeal and all that.
You probably don't know what I'm blabbering about, but discuss anyway. :P

I've played a bit of it. Can't remember how far I've gotten not very from what I can remember.
I do plan on buying the DS remake. I could go for an RPG.

Mmm, you'll love it if you play through the whole thing. I still haven't gotten all 14 endings, but I'm aiming too. Plus, I have the ultimate weapons for all the characters except for Marle, the Princess. :P

I've been wanting to play it but it is very expensive (and rare) on the used game market but I was hoping that Square would put it on the Virtual Console.

Rare indeed, considering it is on the SNES also. I only know of one place around here that sells it, plus it's a local store only. I don't think there are any other remakes for it, are there? Just the DS one that's going to come out.

Square put it on one of it's Playstation Anthologies a few years back and put in cutscenes and horrid load times.

Probably isn't too good then, eh?
I saw one on eBay earlier with 4 days left and I think 2, 3, or 4 bids, and it was only at $7. If you're not one of those people who don't like to buy off of eBay or stuff like that anyway. SNES Cartridge that is.

Ebay is too risky. You never quite know what you are going to get.
My local used game store has a copy for 60 bucks. Well at least in one of its other locations of the 5 possible in North dakota and I've got 32 some bucks in store credit. I may be tempted to pay up for the remaining 30 bucks.
Hmm, choices choices.

Wow, 60 bucks? The only games I see for that much are Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games. There's probably one in the local store I talked about about an hour away that's about 20 bucks or so. They sell 'em pretty cheap. :P
Chrono Trigger is my favorite game of all time.
And I wanna own it... >.<
I don't htink you can buy anything to do with anything before gamecube anymore, so I wouldn't be able to get it (if I even had a Snes)....
My favorite ending is the "real" one, but not because it's real, but because I think it has the most feeling.

They don't even sell Gamecube stuff anymore last time I checked every single store around here. Even the mall. :< And I wanted Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.
If you have some local stores that sell some earlier games, you can get them from there. We have on here that sells Sega stuff and SNES and everything else actually. They just don't sell much newer stuff.
Or eBay if you don't have such a store where you are.
Well, I don't have the money for a Snes and the game... well, I do, but I'm not spending that much.
Plus, I absolutely refuse to buy things over the internet.

Yeah, a lot of people you meet don't like to buy things over the internet.
I remember a while back I bought my Nintendo 64(first one broke), and it only cost 100 bucks altogether, which really isn't that much if you think about it. It was like 60 or 70, or maybe 80 for the console and the extra for the console.
But I understand, not everybody can just go out and buy something for a hundred bucks.

I've beaten it quite a few times (20+) thats counting all the newgame +. One of the best games ever made in my opinion. I had the original cart but my brother took it when he moved out.

I think that Chrono Trigger is better then OOT.

If anyone here haven't played Chrono Trigger, I am vastly dissapointed. Seriously.
Chrono Trigger is my all time favourite RPG, and will probably be for quite some time. Everyting in the game just clicks. The battle system with dual and tripple techs was awesome, and it was one of the first games I spend probably more than 40 h with, on the first run through. Only problem with the game? Costs ridiculously much. The cheapsest copy I've seen costed $85 O.o And that was without the box... I WILL own a copy some day, I WILL!

Finished it up a short while ago. Best Square game I've ever played. Which may say a lot or very little since I don't like Square very much.

Chrono Cross wasn't a sequel. You can find that information anywhere. Chrono Cross was a different game.

Chrono Trigger is said to be one of the best RPGs ever made, and it may not be the best, but its pretty flippin good if you ask me. Ive played it at a friends house as I don't own it, although im thinking of buying it on my SNES, or maybe DS because it would be cheaper. But again that would have to be off Ebay since the local game store here is selling it for +$100. Yeah Im not even kidding. Im sure its top 3 on my list of SNES RPGs since the SNES had ALOT of great RPGs (EarthBound, Super Mario RPG, Chrono Tirgger, Secret of Mana etc.)

Chrono Trigger is one of the best RPGs ever, but only after EarthBound/Mother Series and Final Fantasy VII.
I played the original SNES version and own the DS version and it is awesome-o

Canadians and your overpriced items....
I hope you manage to pick it up, though. You really get more into it and finish a lot of stuff once you own it. There are a lot of different endings, items, and everything. It seems to never end.
Canadians and your overpriced items....At least he can buy it. I've never seen Chrono Trigger being sold in a store. And that's both the Snes version and the DS version. It's as if they don't exist here. D:
Then again, I don't have a Snes or DS. Though if the price for a DS ever dropped to a reasonable price, I would totally get one just for CT (obviously, only if I could find it).
And I've said it before, I'll say it again. I will not buy it online. I have issues with that. :/

Why do you have issues with buying things online? It would be worth it, aside from the fact you don't even have an SNES or a DS.
There are a couple of reasons. Like, the whole payment thing, or what if what I was sent was something else, or was just a dud. I'm just really sceptical about the whole thing. I've just heard so many horror stories about it.

Hahaha, yeah I wish it was cheaper. Im thinking of buying off Ebay, but If I did it would be CIB. And Y2K3, that sucks Ive seen the DS version in a few stores, but the SNES version ive seen twice. If you can try ordering it off Ebay.
Well, I was in the store yesterday and saw that they actually had Chrono Trigger for the DS. So I bought it.... and a DS Lite. It cost me an arm and a leg.
I'm loving the differences between the Snes version and this one, and even more am I loving the fact that I actually have a legal copy of this game. I ahve to say it's thrilling, and I can't wait to find more of the new things added.

Not only one of my favorite games of all time, but the artwork was also done by one of my favorite manga novel writers, Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragon Ball). The music also very much reminded of DB anime music...

This is THE best game of all time. No doubt. Better than some Zeldas, even. With stunning music from Mitsuda and a deep story, who COULDN'T like this game?

Check out Suikoden 2 and ICO on eBay. $100!
But, really, Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite RPGs. I, too, hope that the original comes to VC, but what with two remakes now, I doubt that'll happen.

Oh, Chrono Trigger is definitely my favorite RPG. And I didn't even finished it.
Actually, I'm looking for a place that sells the DS remake. Also, I'm saving money to buy a DS.
Well, I like it so much that it is one of the principal reasons to buy the DS.
I love Dragon Ball, so when I discovered that Akira Toriyama participated on it I decided to play it, just to see how good it was.
I loved it the first time I played it.
But unfortunately, my cousin sold his SNES with all his games(he told me of the game and showed it to me), so I'm trying to play it again, because I just got trough 1/5 of the game.
talk about difficult the game is awesoeme still (well i didn't finish it)
well this game was my first fav of the rpgs and still is, i know it was a bit of difficult but i still give it a 10/10 great game.
i have known that it has many endings (how you play it, it would choose the path for you) it has like 10 different endings, i have completed the game and i have got the ending of the frog that kisses the princess (yuck, not me the hero?! whyyyy??!!)

There are 13 endings in the DS remake, each depending on at what point you defeated Lavos. I've gotten them all, to show my devotion.
My favorite, though, was the one where Magus slays Frog.

I have to give mad props for a SNES game that is longer than some games today, also for me it was the best RPG on the SNES, even over the likes of Final Fantasy and Earthbound. I really liked Glenn's dialogue and backstory, even though he was apparently a major **** in the Japanese version, Robo was one of the rare cute and useful characters around as well.
